room

makeover

of 2020. I'm so excited because it's going to be a great

makeover

and it's for my sister and her entire family. They just moved into this beautiful home in Toronto and really need help with their

living

room

space and main entry area. They currently have no furniture in the

living

room except a sideboard and a really dysfunctional entry space that doesn't hide any clutter. all so we have a lot of problems to solve here, a lot of space to furnish and a lot to decorate.

One thing they did share was that they really wanted this room to be bold and use color. They also requested that this room be something like this. like an adult living room, family room, a nice room that doesn't have a TV or toys, so all that stuff will stay downstairs in the family room and this will be the place where they can entertain themselves. friends and family came and it will be your beautiful living room. They sent me this photo of this blue tufted sofa that they saw in Barcelona and they loved it so much that I thought, wow, blue with the tan brick they have and the warm woods. that you have in your home would look really amazing together and the tan and blue complement each other very well and will create a really

modern

and bold space when it comes to this style of living room.

I like to look around me. I see what already exists here and I know this is an older house with a more recent renovation and that really makes me think of a mid-

century

modern

style because it's old, new and modern. I think the nice tapered leg, some structured furniture, and some really unique temp furniture will tie this whole space together, so it's day one of this makeover and I'm really excited to get started. The first problem we need to solve here is the

entryway

space we really need to create a beautiful

entryway

that is functional, organized and has storage because right now there is no storage, everything is on display and it's just ruining the living room.

My sister actually asked for storage space so we can hide the big mountain of coats, we can hide all the shoes, I thought. the single packaged unit from IKEA would be perfect here, it would give you a sort of front closet situation so it would actually fit perfectly between the door and the window so it will be a tall unit with hooks, a bar to hang your jackets and some storage for shoes, this whole corner is going to be transformed today, so it's been about an hour and a half and we have a new front closet.

Look at this perfect fit between the window and the doors, it's not that amazing, look. The interior, look at all this detail, all this storage space, since they have kids, we needed room to store some kids' coats and backpacks and then for adult coats, it goes all the way to the top and we have this amazing rod that actually pulls up. inside and it extends so we can hold even more jackets and another great part is that it closes smoothly and doesn't slam shut which is what I like the most look how amazing it is so now we are left with this little area between the wall and the storage unit and believe me, this is the most awkwardly sized area ever, so I ended up opting for a small freestanding shelving unit that fits perfectly underneath.

I'm also replacing a small front mat under the unit just to make sure it traps water. that falls off the shoes and protects the floor. I couldn't find a mat that fit, so I cut a mat to fit that space perfectly. You know, if you can't find it in stores, you end up having to make it yourself. I think it makes it a custom job so you're probably wondering what I'm going to do with this little space between these two units and the answer is my sister really wanted a place to put her broom so it's not always an eyesore and I'm just home so I'll easily hang it with this 3m command hook.

It is just a stick in one so as not to damage our new unit and it is just perfect, it is designed for brooms and I thought this is a great solution to hide your broom, the next thing we need is a rug and a rug is the best way to connect a space and creating new areas, so I'm shedding this 2x4 jute rug and I love using it on front door and tree walk areas because it's a very durable material and you can't really see dirt here on the wall of bricks. I'm going to put in a big mirror so it's functional but decorative and then also a really pretty bench. underneath so the kids can sit, the parents can sit down to put their shoes on, but it also opens up and there's storage underneath, so everything here in this corner is going to be decorative but functional and that's the best way to design a space, so So now let's move on to the living room area.

I chose an 8 by 10 rug as it is a handmade rug, the size and color may vary but this is exactly what I was looking for which is a very large size. for this room, but will really expand this living space, this Huayra rug from the item is better than I imagined. Another way to create a room within a room is to place furniture facing inward to close off this little space here. I'm bringing in the Vedas Tan Inch Arm Chair and wow, this chair is stunning, it's upholstered in full and lined Italian tan leather and it's exactly the color I needed.

It really warms up this side of the room and balances the warm tones. from the brick and ladder it has a very sturdy corner block wood frame and you can feel the quality of this chair when you sit in it it is comfortable it has a high density foam with polyester filling so you really sink into the chair but it also has a very pleasant firmness. I feel like it's the perfect chair for you to sit and enjoy the view. You have an amazing view of the room from this angle and oh, this chair will just accentuate all the furniture. pieces so good I really want to create a nice moment here to look out the window enjoy the view have some coffee have good lighting you know create a little moment in this nice little corner the first thing I want to change here and What the owners They want to change here are the curtains, they are very dark and heavy and this room could let in a lot more light than now if we take them down, so I am going to replace these dark and heavy curtains. with nice crisp white curtains I ended up purchasing three curtain panels and realized they weren't enough but then I ended up adding two more curtain panels to really complete the look and these will let in a lot more light which will diffuse the light when They are closed but also create some privacy.

I'm going to create a nice little moment here by the windows. I chose to hug chairs in coconut white and again, they are stunning chairs. These are super sturdy corner blocks. Chairs with solid structure and have solid wood. The walnut-colored legs really adapt perfectly to all the curves of your arms and legs. It is such a deep chair with an amazing feel. The tight backrest, our high-resilience foam and fiberfill, and the upholstery are coconut white, so together. It really creates this feeling of high quality comfort and to make this a relaxing little nook I wanted somewhere you could put your feet up so I chose to put a Torah poo in tan tobacco leather which goes really well with our famous chairs and it really just brings this whole look together, it has a zipper closure and it looks so clean and contemporary, especially paired with these beautiful, elegant chairs, it really creates this relaxing, casual moment here.

I love that you can move this bean bag around the room. you can use it as extra seating, you can sit on the coffee table with it and I always think that poop is very versatile and it's something that always gets forgotten, but I think it's the perfect addition to this living land to have an extra place to put . a drink, I bought a vent, a rectangular side table and it also came in a circle shape, but I went for this rectangular shape, it has a very slim look and doesn't really look like something bulky attached.

For your sofa it is also made of solid white marble, so it is super heavy and sturdy. It has solid oak legs, like the coffee table, so everything really fits together very well and again, like the coffee table, since it is marble and natural stone, it will vary. significantly on the color tone, vein marks and surface texture, if you want to see more product products, you can find them in the article. Calm and I love all the textures. Textures are key when you decorate a space. Use leather, velvet, fabrics and marble. mixing wood every time is amazing and creates so much visual interest, so to finish this living room I shopped around town for the best pieces for this space.

I was looking for articleslarge scale, lighting plans in neutral tones, colors that would match our new decor and some pieces that were a nice silver color that would match our staircase and fireplace, so we are just looking for small pieces that would really tie this whole look together and make it They made it feel like a home apart from that. I'm looking for some large scale items, some small items to really create some scale here, also some textiles to drape over the sofa and side chairs to create a comfortable feel, so I've just finished putting all the finishing touches on this one space and looks very good. well I could cry like I couldn't wait for them to see it, everything turned out just like I imagined but better than I imagined and I'm so happy.

I love doing room makeovers. I love making a difference in people's homes and I know this will do just that. They add a lot of value to your family and will have people over and over again.
