Fairy Mushroom house

May 04, 2020
Hi everyone, I had so many requests for a

fairy

mushroom

house

that I thought I would share how I made it. Any type of stone can be used, but I am using Santorini stones again because they are a perfect shape. I just use anything that has a curve. at the top and today I'm going to start using pencil just to show you the general idea of โ€‹โ€‹what we're going to do. I usually don't do it in this order. I draw it with pencil to sketch my idea, but I don't paint it in this order, but I'm showing you how it will look ahead of time because some people asked me or mentioned oh, I liked it until you got to that part or I liked it.

Until you added that, so I'm going to give you a general idea of โ€‹โ€‹what this

mushroom

house

is going to look like ahead of time and then I'm going to work backwards a little bit with the paint and stuff, but I'll explain it as we go, same with my

fairy

door in last weekend's tutorial. It's a rounded door because I like the rounded look. It will be a fat, plump little mushroom and that's how I like it. This time it will be double doors. not just a door like the fairy door we did last week and this one is going to be super cute and of course it's going to be a lot of purple because it's my favorite so I'm going to color it a little bit with the darker paint so you can see better the shape and place that shape on your rock and if you need to pause it, just pause it and then come back to me when you're ready and we'll continue painting together, so this is The general idea is that I'm going around the sides of the Santorini stone.

More Interesting Facts About,

fairy mushroom house...

If you are interested in getting some of this stone there is a link in the description and it is to go to a link on Facebook called Santorini rocks and that is where I purchased it. These stones are honest, they are a dream to paint and some of them were the perfect size for ferry gates, so I definitely recommend contacting Katy now. I'm using purple, choose whatever color you want. In fact, I'm doing two. but I will surprise you with the second one. I'm applying two coats of a nice deep purple color, but while the second coat is still wet, I'm going to apply a lighter purple just above the edge of the mushroom cap to make it more of a lavender color, I guess you could say, and I'm blending it with a sponge, any sponge will work and we just want to lighten it up so it looks pretty, curvy and a little plump, puffy mushroom house to give it It's a really cool effect, if you're having trouble with the part of fusion, you don't have to paint it just a solid color, it's going to look amazing when we're done anyway, so I'm going to use a lighter blue, it's actually called royal, I don't think it's french blue and I'm just coloring the inside of my bowler hat with that lighter blue and then I'm going to mix a little bit of purple underneath, just below the edge of the hat, so it looks like there's some shading.

There you will see that in a moment I am going to make my door brown. You can choose any color you want for yours, but today I'm going to make a brown door. I'm just putting a nice thick layer around it. the outside and then I'll go back to using my sponge and like I said before any sponge will work you can even use makeup sponges and stuff just keep rinsing them don't mix the same colors for example use a different sponge for each coloring it or washing it every time, so I just rubbed it with a sponge to make that texture there and made it lighter on the inside.

Now I'm going to go in and I'm mixing that shade under that cap just with a little bit. a little bit of purple and I added eye, if you need to add a little more blue and mix it in, that's fine, it works best to mix paint when it's wet. Now I'm using the dark purple again to go in and make the lines that are. under the cover and I'm sure there's a name for it and I'm sure someone will let me know. You can let me know. I definitely know that doors are hinged. I have never received so many messages and comments about hinges, but I appreciate them all and will never again forget what those little things on the doors are called.
Now I'm putting a nice thick black line under the edge of the lid to make it really noticeable, it already looks like it's curved there now with that. blue that lighter blue I'm mixing it with some white and as I said before I don't usually do it in these steps so normally I don't even put the door or the bricks or anything, I paint the background of my house first and then I add the bricks and the door and everything there, but I wanted you to see what we are going to do and what awaits you today, so I painted it light blue, like I said, choose the colors. which you want to use if you want to use real mushroom colors that's up to you on the other mushroom house I'm painting while doing this tutorial it has more natural looking mushroom colors but it's still a fairy house in every way.
Look at the end, so I'm just outlining the outside parts of the house and the outside parts of the mushroom cap are all in a thicker black line. Now my brush that I have used in this tutorial and in all the tutorials I have. a tutorial on how to do it, so please check out my channel. There are like more than 40 tutorials and it's there. This part is optional, as it says on the screen. I like my house to have a little bit, that's what I call it. blushing at the plump part of my mushroom. I just blush a little darker color. um I don't know, I like the way it makes the house look overall, but you don't need to do this and sometimes you need to mix it up.
It's really frustrating so if you want to keep the mixing to a minimum don't do this part just continue after I'm done with this and blend when the paint is wet and keep adding the lighter blue and keep mixing it so all kinds of blends together in a nice ombre effect I guess you can call it but I call it blushing even though it's not pretty and pink. I call it blushing on the chubby parts of my mushroom and I'm not trained to I'm self-taught so I can call it blushing on the chubby parts and I'm not offending anything or anyone so now that it's all mixed up and blushing I'm going to make this window go It looks a little more like a window and we are going to color it, you can see that the window frame is in pencil.
I'll put the frame back up here, but I just wanted to show you again in advance what's in store for you. the window will look like now. I'm just putting very faint white lines across the window in one direction just to make it look like there's a little bit of glare on the window and then we'll go right on top of that. like it's not even there and we're going to paint the window frame you can put the window on the other side you can have two windows you can have a little balcony you can do whatever you want that's what makes this so special fun and nothing This is realistic.
I mean, I'm sure there are real fairy houses out there and I'm sure mine don't look anything like it, but this is what mine would look like if I made one, so you can do whatever. If you want, this will have double doors, like I said before, so there will be four hinges. Can you believe it? I remembered what they were called again, there will be four of them and they will be simple hinges. I'm just putting a thicker line down the middle to make sure everyone knows that they are two separate doors and that they need to know how to pull with either handle because now there will be two handles.
I'm just lining this with black paint. I just want to I'm not using a ruler, they're not perfectly spaced, I just want to emphasize that there are different boards on the door and the wood there, I want them to barely show, but I want them to be seen, but not as thick as the ones on the middle line I'm using gold nail glitter which you can find on Amazon because that's where I buy it here in Canada, probably anywhere you can buy a lot of nail art supplies. I'm literally rubbing it right between the lines. I don't want it all over the door.
I'm just putting it between the lines just to accentuate the dash on the door once again and that's optional, you don't have to do it, you don't have to go out shopping. Glitter if you don't want to, you can just apply it with a brush like a little gold paint between the boards and that will do almost the same thing, but not quite. I like the shine, here we go with the hinges, here we go. People, here are my hinges, now you'll make fun of their shape because they're just simple hinges, if you can't find hinges like that in a store, that's because I invented them today, once all your black hinges and your doorknobs doors and everything is dry, the black part you can go in and just accentuate the black with some spun gold or whatever gold you have or if you even want to use silver you can use silver, you don't have to use gold. not at all, but the gold is good.
I love gold. Now I'm just going over the window frame with a little bit of gold and the rest is details so I thought that was cool. It's called yellow light and we're making a yellow light. Sure, so how appropriate is that small and simple? I like things rounded, so it's going to be a simple little ball of yellow light and we're going to outline it in black and put a little doohickey on top of it and please let me know what the doohickey would be. called where the light bulb screws in and there's the doohickey you can also add glow paint you can do more of the lantern type it's up to you what kind of light you want to put in there now I'm going to go in and I'm literally Just spread out over a couple of green vines and you can They don't look like vines at the moment, but once we add some flowers, they end up looking like some pretty vines that are growing around the bricks naturally and it just accentuates everything.
Like I said, this is all optional, but the best parts of the fairy house are in the details. That's when you make it yours and that's where you decide what you want. Do you want a little tree? Do you want a little head? Want? a lot of grass, do you want a butterfly, do you even want flowers, maybe not? It's completely up to you, but I'm going to add flowers and I'm going to add grass, so here I'm adding just little tufts, you just move the brush around, the same thin brush that I've been using, you don't want to use a thick brush for the grass. because then it just looks like big green spots and no one knows what it is, so it looks more like grass if you do it. just move the brush up starting from the bottom and I'm adding two different shades of green.
I apologize for that notification, a darker green and a lighter green, I just took it, it just makes it look better. I guess it gives the grass some definition. I'm going to let the grass dry now. I'm going to use some white and literally just put some simple flowers around the brick using a nail dotting tool and a toothpick. Two of my favorite things to point out. You can get creative and look for things around your house that you can use for dotting knitting needles amazing pencils erasers toothpicks knitting needles pens all kinds of things toothpicks of course are my favorite bobby pins depending on the size of the dots, They also work really well, so just get creative, so I'm making four simple petals, very, very simple white flowers because later we'll add to them and they won't be so simple anymore.
Now, back to the top, I'm using a sponge, a perfect little circle, these are Martha Stewart sponge painting advisors. I think they're called: you don't want there to be a lot of paint there, you want it to really look faded, so let's do fades to see how you can see through that a little bit. It's not perfectly smeared there in a perfect spot. I want to be able to see through it a little bit so it looks a little faded and for me that's how I wanted to do it, but if you want to paint them with a brush. do whatever you want, it's just me showing you what I like now that it's dry.
I'm going to use a little more nail glitter that has a purple tint to it. This is not shale dust. I bought it at the same place where I bought it. the gold one that's on Amazon and I'm literally rubbing it on the part that's a little bit lighter because we're going to once again accentuate the curve of the cap there and that makes that curve stand out even more. Beautiful, everything is optional, you don't have to do that. Here's a little trick if you're having trouble with glitter moving when you seal it with resin or spray.
Sometimes the glitter moves and isn't where you wanted it to be. that's right and instead of just accentuating the boards and the door, it looks like the entire door has a gloss on it, so what I'm going to do is apply a light coat of Mod Podge and I'm going to keep it in the direction of the gloss, I don't want to move it across the door, I'm going to move it up and down like I did with the glitter, same with the top of the cap, I'm just running it along where the glitter is and I'm not going to brush it all over the top of the cap because then the glitter will eat up the entire top of the cap, so just place it where the glitter is and let it dry completely before applying resin. because if there is moisture under that resin, there will be bubbles and imperfections that you will not be happy with in the end.
Now that it's all dry, you can tell there's still shiny Mod Podge in there, but it hasn't been rezoned. still and here is the second one, it is also waiting for resin that is nice, it is nice, I love it, I like theblue doors, I like the planter with the flowers, now here you will see it shiny, it has been rezoned, all the glitter stayed in place, all the glitter stands out as much as it would. If you didn't use Mod Podge there, it looks beautiful. I'll let them dry and then add a finishing touch. You will see everything you need to make them in the description, don't forget in my fairy world there is glitter there is gold and there are flowers with crystals this is how mine are now the lighting is not the best but the crystals are in the flowers every flower It has its own crystal that is optional, you don't have to do it.
You can just put dots on your flowers of any color you want, but I like crystals, I like bright and shiny ones, and that shows in all my tutorials, guys, I love them. Thank you very much for being a part of this with me and I will continue painting. For you he continues to paint for me and I love you bye bye
