night

markets that really appeals to me. And that's why I'm at Rod Fai #2, one of the biggest

night

markets in Bangkok. Well, technically it's a

train

market and gets its name from the original Rod Fai Market, located next to the

train

tracks on the outskirts of Bangkok. You'll definitely know you've arrived at Rod Fai because you'll see their unique rainbow-colored tents.

At Rod Fai #2, although smaller than the original, it is easier to get to and my main reason for coming here: all the food stalls are grouped together because you know I want all the things I love close to me. The main feature of Rod Fai is that there is a mix of everything, from antiques to clothing and, of course, food. It's super vibrant just radiant with energy. So now let's do what I like to do most at night markets. Let's eat! I saw someone mixing cold noodles. They told me the name of this dish, which I quickly forgot, because it is a bit difficult.

I think you're supposed to wrap these noodles in the vegetables. I just want to try these noodles alone first with the pig's ear. Oh oh oh. If you weren't counting, it was three ohs. Which means this is obscenely good. If you've never had pig ears before, you should definitely try it. I love the Asian way of cooking it, it is usually stewed and cooled and put in a salad or eaten alone cold.

This is coconut pudding. Everything is wrapped in banana leaves. There is a mysterious treasure inside. Wow... It's some kind of fruit... It's not a fruit, it's a coconut. Sorry, I need another one of these. They sell them in packs of five. I was thinking it might be too much, but no. These are great. They are like little gift wrappers full of joy. The pudding itself, super silky smooth. the nice chewy. coconut inside Oh Magnificent, so simple. So meaningful. Hey guys, let me show you something. This is the most heavenly expanse I have ever seen...ever! I mean, this is all the good that is in the river, in the seas!
We have a whole Thai grilled fish, pla pao, river prawns, clams, snails, mussels, squid, crab and you know, you name it. Grilled fish really excites me. The way it is cooked is that the fish is covered with salt so that the entire fish is steamed inside its own body. This is how Aquaman celebrates! Does Aquaman actually eat fish? Wouldn't that be a bit cannibalistic? Ehh, I don't know. Tonight we will eat like Aquaman. The first thing I want to try is the steamed fish. Look how flaky and juicy it is. Watch this. Beautiful white meat. Oh Lord.
That's so... mmm. It's like there's just flavor in this thing. That meat is incredibly flaky, juicy and flavorful. Actually, I don't think there's much seasoning. Any flavor you taste comes from the salt that was on the outside of the fish. This fish is a beauty. I think I'm going to dip this in pepper, I think pepper and vinegar. Ah, that made it even better. In addition to this sweet, succulent, flaky fish, this sauce adds dimension by adding spicy, limey, and vinegary flavors. It only enhances the deliciousness of the fish. Did you know? This fish is like Goku, on its own, delicious.
With the sauce, Super Saiyan delicious. This is the

best

fish I've had in a long time, I'm not kidding. The best fish I've had in a long, long time. And completely different from the fish I had at the other night market because this one just came out of the fire and that makes a big difference. There are so many other things in this place that I know I need to try. Let's start with the squid. I don't know what the difference is between the two sauces, I'm going to try this one. Ok, this sauce is a little sweet, it has garlic.
I'm in love with this sauce here. That's... really surprising. I thought the squid meat would be a little rubbery, tough, but not at all, ridiculously tender. There's so much to do, I'm losing my mind here. So much beauty in this dish. Just take out this snail. Let me see if I can hear the ocean... yeah. He's telling me it's delicious. Oh, that meat is so rich and sweet. You can taste how fresh it is. Wow, look at that tender, moody, beautiful meat. Take that little piece of crab, wrap it in some basil and dip it in the spice.
I feel like a feature of this great seafood dish is how fresh everything is. And yes, this whole plate is for me and yes, I'm going to finish it. I wanted to get this large plate because there were items I wanted to get individually. I wanted to get the fish, I wanted to get the river prawns. I wanted to try all the other things I hadn't tried before. And all this, for only 750 baht. That's less than US$25 That's less than US$25 Best deal! I mean a fish costs 30 dollars. So yeah, I'm eating shit out of this.
This is apparently Fanta... from Mars. It tastes... It tastes... It tastes like a Martian elf, I'm not kidding. Woo, I can't leave here without eating pad

thai

. I had a bad experience with pad

thai

yesterday, so I hope this is much better. It's definitely a lot smaller, but it's cool because it's sitting on a little bamboo serving object on top of a piece of paper. Fresh out of the wok. Beautiful egg in this pad thai. It looks better than the one I had yesterday. Let's see if it is! Try the egg. Wow, it's almost like a steamed egg, it almost breaks.
I have doubts because it doesn't have much flavor. Right now, it just tastes like stir-fried noodles with eggs. Alright, this requires emergency resuscitation with pad thai with chili and a little vinegar. Let's see if this is better. At 7:30 p.m. m., this pad thai is officially dead. The chili and lime couldn't resurrect it. He officially died on this parchment paper. A very unpleasant death. I think now we all have to move on. I'm a tom yum goong fan. I'm always so excited to try Tom Yum soup and see this cute little bowl they gave me. Beautiful!
I mean, you know, weird but it's beautiful. I was told that tom yum actually means mixed soup, and goong means prawns, so you could actually have, tom yum, I don't know tom yum beef, or tom yum chicken, I guess. Oh, this bowl of soup is beautiful. I thought my night had taken a bad turn because my pad thai didn't turn out well but wow! OMG this soup saved him. Spicy, lime flavored and has a great creamy, soothing and smooth taste. It officially surpassed the tom yum goong on the market as the best tom yum goong since I've been in Thailand.
I mean, that soup is so good it made me forget how hot and steamy and moist it is right now. I just swallowed it. Now I'm steamy and hot inside and out, but I feel good. Let's continue! It is fried milk with condensed milk and a hot and spicy power on top. It's not as nice as the one I had in Taiwan. It's more like eating rice pudding. My local friends told me I had to try some chicken feet soup. Check out these braised chicken legs here. It looks delicious. Then we got white meat, noodles and sprouts.
Let me try the soup alone. There is a lot of flavor, A LOT of flavor here. I feel like this soup is so thick and so greasy. It reminds me of the noodles I had, which were very thick because of the blood. Here are the rice noodles, all covered in sauce and spices. These guys taste a lot like the shredded noodles I had the other day. I'm going to suck one of these chicken legs. That's delicious. Those feet have been sitting in a thick, flavorful broth, softening. The meat comes off completely without any effort. It's so soft, gelatinous and tasty.
I think I underestimated the hot oil, that thing is a heavyweight. But it is not surprising that there is a queue at this place. The soup is tasty, the chicken legs are falling apart. I love it. I'm finishing this bowl. I know it will make me sweat even more, but we have to finish this bowl. I love when I come across something adorable, like these little pancakes here. It is a mix of pandan, blueberry, strawberry and chocolate. Oh, do you know what it tastes like? It tastes like a pancake. Another one, this is pandan. Soft, moist, spongy, sweet, pancake-like.
It's great to have this after I burned my tongue on all that spice. This is coconut milk cream and the way they make it is very cute, it's like playing with Play-Doh and you mold it and it comes out like these little pancakes. It seems a little slimy. White above, green below. Did you know? I'm just going to bite this baby. Wow, the top is extremely creamy and coconut flavored, a little salty. And the bottom is like mochi, where the sweetness comes from. I think this would go better with ice cream. On its own, it's still pretty good.
Oh yes, angry bird, this! This is Thai iced tea bingsu. Ok look, I got it because it's smoking. Whipped cream and then a volcanic eruption at the top. It's really interesting. Cornflakes in my bingsu. Oh, that really works, it's a nice crunch-inducing element. I really like this because for (US$)3 dollars, you get something that looks good and is steaming delicious. Get this, I got to the bottom and found something. I don't know what this is yet. It looks like a little bread... a little thing of bread. Mmmm, how great, that little piece of bread has absorbed all that juice.
Oh, and look at this, the bingsu is melting and forming a thick little thing at the bottom, so the cornflakes are like... Having cereal for breakfast, but instead of milk, you drink Icee Man Thai Iced Tea , this guy is a professional when it comes to doing this (som tum). I can't leave here tonight without trying a papaya salad. Look at that beautiful bite. Oh, how incredibly refreshing. I mean it's very spicy, but it's still refreshing. This guy did it like he was making guacamole at the table. Actually, if someone actually made papaya (salad) at the table, it would be the best thing ever.
I wish I had someone to eat this with so I wouldn't eat the whole thing because look at this thing. I asked for more spice and it definitely didn't hold back. For my last food at this night market tonight, you must see this! This is the amazing thing I've seen all night! Check this out, let me explain why it's so awesome. First of all, it's a mountain of pork ribs. And literally on top of that there are chilies! It's not just a drizzle, oh no. This is a chili blizzard! It's going to be phenomenal. What's also really funny about this place is that, looking around, no one is really talking.
Because everyone is just seasoned. Everyone has sweat dripping from their foreheads, snot coming out of their noses and going through joyful suffering. Yes, there is such a thing as joyful suffering and I am surrounded by good company. I love it. If you want more proof that this is literally a mountain of pork, look no further than the lake that surrounds this mountain. Yes, this pig mountain has a moat. Also, guys, let me show you this. These are the forks they gave me, do you think they are out of the ordinary? Because it looks like someone tried to stick this fork into a rock.
It's all folded. Let me delve into… Oh my gosh. I'm just using a fork to...look...how easily this meat is coming apart. So while this mountain of pork looks super tough, it's actually super, super tender. Look at this, it's just coming off the bones. Here we go, we have a little bit of the mountain, we have a little bit of the river, we have a little bit of pepper. Woah Mm Wow this is so Thai. The broth is vinegary, extremely spicy, and very flavorful because you can tell these bones have been simmering here for a long, long time.
Let me take a piece of meat, no pepper, nothing else, just a piece of meat. Oh, it just breaks apart in your mouth and tastes exactly like a pork bone should be. Fatty, a little gelatinous, beautiful pork flavor. Mm, now I understand why they cover it with chili because if you try to eat the meat itself, it will be too much for you, it's too greasy for you. But you have the soup with vinegar, you have the spice of the chili. This is a beautiful, beautiful combination. Do you know what is it? Someone literally walked into my dreams and created this dish from my dream.
This is literally what... what defines me. Lots of meat and lots of chilis. Now is the time to get to work on this baby. And you know, we saw what happened when you try to use the fork. Let's do it. Look at that, that's the spine and look how easy it is, and my finger is just... just pulling this meat off the bone. It's so soft that I don't need to apply as much pressure and the meat falls off the bones. You have a good sauce, add some chili and just eat. Get to work with this beautiful this.
This is my heaven. just sittinghere gnawing on a pig bone. That soup goes perfectly with this. There is so much good meat on these bones. There's the lean meat and then you've got some tendon here. Guys, here's the thing. Yes, this is it for me. But don't be intimidated by a bowl like this because it's just a bunch of bones. So come here and order one extra large or extra large. Now I kind of regret not getting the bigger size. What was I thinking? A little mad at myself right now. Alright guys, this is about to get a little more barbaric.
So I need a moment here. Oh, do you see that over there? That's marrow. Whenever you see marrow, do this. Mmm What a great, meaty and spicy conclusion to a wonderful night market food

tour

. And the best thing about feeling so hot and spicy is that I now feel like the temperature around me has cooled down. I've been to many night markets, this has to be my favorite so far. I mean, it has tons of different stores, it has live performances, but the only thing I care about is the food. And from the quantity of food, to the variety, to the quality.
This place is just ridiculous. I mean, you have all the food stalls, and around this night market there are even bigger restaurants and food stalls. This has been a great way to spend the night here in Bangkok. If you're ever around here or live here, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. And for those who haven't been here, I'll leave the information in my description box. Definitely come and check it out. Alright, thank you all for watching this video. And until we meet again, which will be very soon. I will see you later. A little scared,...
A little hesitant... Because I'm about to eat some worms. I mean I still go through these things. And it looks like it may not be so bad. Many of my local friends say I should really try some. I'm going to do it. This little guy here is a bamboo worm. It looks like it is sautéed with spices and chilies. It looks crispy. Here we go. (regrets) I really... I really made a mistake. I thought it was crispy. It wasn't crunchy at all... It's actually very chewy AND the skin is very soft and greasy Definitely not something I want to try again...
