. I'm going to read the comics. I also have more down there, you can't see them, but there are a lot. I have the Marvel app. I didn't need to buy them now.

Okay, all things considered, I actually have kind of a soft spot for this movie. Look, when I was a kid, this was like my favorite movie. I thought the 90's X-Men cartoons were great, but I never watched that many episodes, but.
I somehow still liked the These designs are just to make them look delicious, I want to chew. in them, so when my dad took me to see an movie, but it's definitely a product of its time, oh here we go, this is the best

part

, look at these physics, yeah, come on, yeah, that doesn't make any sense, but who cares, and you see this movie is special because it came out just before. Spider-Man ruined everything I'm saying. If you've been watching this channel for a while, you'll notice that a lot of the superhero movies that came out right after Spider-Man are basically bad. -offs, honestly, the best thing about this movie is that it has its own identity to it.
It's interesting to see a superhero movie that doesn't try to copy other superhero movies because it was like the first one, it's a very different type of superhero movie. because he takes himself very seriously most of the time to a point that is simply not seen today, i don't think many people realize that joss whedon really changed the way superhero movies work, Avengers 1 is basically the model that most of these movies follow today, but back then there were movies like this, this is basically a drama about prejudice and injustice and it happens to star an immortal Canadian with swords in his hands after of some scenes that established that this movie is about human inequality. we have a rogue who accidentally puts his boyfriend in prison and then runs away to a barren, violent Canadian wasteland, then he meets Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and this is where I give him the biggest headshot of all time, but I never really loved Hugh Jackman. like Wolverine and no, I'm not going to try to convince anyone that I'm right.
I'm not going to convince anyone that they don't fit the role because my opinion is very biased and strange, the only reason I don't like it. it's because I don't like how tall he is now listen to me wolverine is supposed to be a disgusting little man he's supposed to look like a little furry piece of meat angry little chode i'm reading the comics now and everyone calls him he's short and stinky everything time and you just can't see that kind of character in a superhero movie, even when superhero actors are short they have to wear platform shoes to look taller and heroic, well I'm sick of Okay, I want more superheroes Short and being short is part of Wolverine's identity, but I still think Jackman obviously does a good job as a character, I mean, even in the worst X-Men movies, Wolverine will still act like he's an idiot.
I have to respect that so whatever it is it may not be what I want but I can acknowledge that it's okay and this is unrelated but I like how this movie has whimsical music every time we see some mutant superpowers for the first time . What am I seeing and why is this? It's so adorable and it's funny how in all of our big ensemble superhero movies these days we have to spend an hour bringing the characters together, but in this movie the X-Men just show up and save Logan and Rogue right away, with no fanfare. , without accumulation.
I don't even know who these people are. We have no time to waste from here. The rest of the movie is a sort of fish-out-of-water narrative starring Wolverine, which is a little strange. This movie spends a lot of time explaining mutants. injustice to wolverine like he should know all this he's so old and you see like i said before this movie is taking itself very seriously the man who attacked you is an associate of his named sabretooth storm tooth of saber, what do they call you wheels? Are you talking about calling yourself Wolverine if there's something cheesy or cheesy in the source material?
This movie is like hey, isn't it silly how cheesy comics are? This is a movie for adults. You actually go outside with these things. do you prefer yellow spandex, yes, actually I would prefer to have said that before, but the thing is, I'm sorry, this movie is still cheesy and I'm okay with cheesy, I like cheesy, but it's awkward because this movie thinks it's more serious and more own. -aware of what really is how are you going to make a movie about a guy with hair like this who again has swords in his hands and a metal skeleton and you try to make it completely clear, I don't really get it, but this movie doesn't either .
I'm not interested in wasting time explaining anything and it's kind of funny xavier says hi logan this is my school for homeless displaced super kids i also have a superhero strike force and a mega plane in the basement why don't you worry why There's another weird part later in the movie where the evil mutants attack Storm and Cyclops at the train station and Storm as Sabretooth rampages, but then Sabretooth just wanders off and kidnaps Rogue and then they all head back through the station. and Storm and Cyclops are gone. They are no longer there and they are not outside either, they just left, where did they go?
They were here to save their friends, but they just walked out of this movie. They're really just rushing to get to the next interesting scene or scene then. It could have plot holes because we didn't have YouTubers to overthink everything and convince people that movies with plot holes are bad. Anyway, let's look at a funny scene out of context. I must also say that in this film the best acting has definitely come. by ian mckellen patrick stewart i especially like seeing mckellen playing a villain for once i think it's funny and kinda sexy i think i've had too many rewatches of lord of the rings because seeing him as a bad guy with a twirling mustache is It's very exciting for me, but I will say that I think the silliest part of this movie is that the other characters just suck.
Cyclops is a very boring person. I'm just learning this. I'm a little disappointed because I still think she looks great Anna Paquin is doing her best as a rogue, but she's pretty stiff and awkward and she was like a child, so it's okay I guess, but it's a little more noticeable. She gets better as the movies go on, but neither. really into them much later, or unfortunately, Rogue's superpower interrupts the story most of the time, so she doesn't really have anything to do after this movie, yeah, that's a problem we're going to encounter a lot more late, the storm is too. in this movie she just stands there and poses he just stands there menacingly she seriously doesn't do anything in this movie she's just here because well, it's an x-men movie she barely has any lines, any of her only lines are like one of the worst phrases I have ever heard, do you know what happens to a toad when it is struck by lightning?
The same thing that happens to everything else, which doesn't even make any sense, anyway, let's talk about the plot real quick in this movie, the x- men have to stop Magneto's super evil plan. He uses this big machine to turn normal people into mutants, which is so dumb. Oh, he wait, that's actually canon, so he runs the beta test on him with this senator who hates mutants, but what's dumb is that after he mutates. the senator just leaves him alone in a cell, this is not a good plan, if he had powers that were similar to the other mutants we have seen so far he could easily escape and leave him.
I like the initiative, but the execution. It needs a little more work, so I'll give this plan a six out of ten at the end of the day. This is a superhero movie where the bad guy builds a big machine that will kill all the innocent people and the good guys fly in and save the day and if it weren't for the genuinely good allegory of prejudice, this would be a pretty numbers movie. and as always, I think a lot of superhero movies like this would work better with fewer characters and a little more. Focusing on character development makes this movie feel a little empty and I have to say that's something that isn't solved with most of these movies.
It's weird though because it really was like the first modern superhero movie. Is it fair to say this is a cliché when this was the first to have this structure this led to Spider-Man, which led to Iron Man, which led to the Avengers and now look at us, society is full of nerds, thank you very much x -men so I'll finish this and give you this uh 5.5 out of 10. sure whatever this took too long x2 I love when the movies used to do this like oh we can't call it terminator 2 we have to call it t2 you'll know what it means there is no other movie that starts with t oh and by the way this movie is actually hard yeah everyone knows this movie is a huge improvement over the first one where the first movie doesn't give you context for a lot of The things we see, this one dives a little deeper in almost every aspect, Logan's origins are explored more and we learn a little more about some of the characters this series wants to focus on, like Jean Gray and Bobby, and to start, I must say that I really like when a movie opens.
In a cool way, I think the last movie got off to a pretty decent start with that scene in thereally powerful holocaust, but this one decides to go in a different direction and give us this action-packed start, whereas the last movie wasn't really good in terms of action. This begins with a sick scene that establishes Nightcrawler as a badass. This scene is so sick and it's a shame that for some reason Nightcrawler disappears after this movie. As for the story, this movie features Logan Roy as the villain and as a boy. I remember not thinking this guy was that cool and that he wasn't as interesting as Magneto, but now, as an adult, I think he actually fits this movie pretty well.
Magneto is the standard comic book villain, but Striker is somehow more menacing. Being like a regular guy at the end of the day, the main threat to the X-Men is humanity, so it's always effective to use a villain that represents that, as with other films in this series. I haven't seen this movie since it came out. So I completely forgot about the story and as it stands, I think the narrative in this one is much better paced than the last movie. The last one simply had the main characters waiting until the story came to them, but in this one the plot begins immediately with the attempted assassination of the president followed by the kidnapping of charlie and I have noticed in my recent reading of x-men that charles xavier is kicked out of this story quite often because I guess it's too op and would solve a lot of things. of conflict too easily and, as I said before, that's a problem that runs through all of these films.
The x-men have very diverse superpowers and that can be a little difficult to include in a story. You have a guy who can teleport anywhere, which might make the story a little more complicated if you don't go around him. Alternatively, you have someone like Wolverine, who is just a guy who can fight people and isn't very complicated, so he can be anywhere. The rogue story however has the superpower of taking away other people's superpowers so he could honestly resolve conflicts too easily, as such after the first movie he can't really use his powers and I really see that as the writers of these movies are kind.
Failed mutants come and go in these movies so you can't get too attached to them, so yeah, this is the first of many movies where Charles Xavier is kicked out of the narrative because he's too strong, but it works. a little better in this movie because it means our characters can work alone unlike the last movie where they had to rely on him a little more. The only problem with the faster pace of the film is that we still don't understand the best characterization for everyone. Nightcrawler gets very good characterizations, but in his nice conversation with Storm I can't help but think about how she hasn't done anything yet, she just isn't a character is nothing, he is just here, this series so far has not done that. has been the best at balancing each character, but I will say that this one is a huge improvement over the last.
Logan has a lot more to do in this movie and we can see him trying to balance his own goals with his need to help his new friends, this includes him much better in this story and there are many times where Logan can feel like the guy who He's here to fight things and look cool, so I appreciate when the movie actively includes him in the narrative, but one thing that definitely doesn't come across as well in this movie is Logan and Jean's romance. He feels very rushed and out of nowhere we are never told or shown why Logan likes Gene.
He just thinks she's hot and I mean, I guess I could respect that, but this is a movie, so I need a little more than that and she's in a committed relationship with Scott, who's not really in this movie, so which seems a little more predatory in this one, let's just say I probably wouldn't see scenes like this in a superhero movie nowadays, but despite some shortcomings, I still think this movie does the best it can with what it has. I especially like that Magneto joins the X-Men and has evolved from a cartoonish character over time. -the best villain of the sassy gay guy from the , has a more creative plot and is a little more attractive and exciting.
It's been a long time since I last saw this movie and I had a great time and it ends in a way that lends itself quite well to a sequel. I'm going to give this a 7 out of 10. This movie is terrible, please let me go, keep it up. I'll spray you in the face. This is the movie that sent the X-Men into a downward spiral. A little after two successful and well-received movies, we have one of the messiest superhero movies ever made up to that point. Hey, I can fly. Interestingly, this movie begins with something I didn't expect to see in 2006.
Young Face CGI. Unsurprisingly, it looks a little strange, but honestly, for 2006, I'm surprised they tried, but unfortunately we as a society know what Patrick Stewart is supposed to look like when he's younger because he's looked the same for 50 years. , so this just looks up. but in this flashback, chuck and magnus go to visit jean grey, this one focuses a lot on gene and his phoenix, but if you've been paying close attention, we haven't gotten the strongest characterization of anyone, let alone jean grey, we haven't really gotten the strongest characterization from anyone. I got some strong characterization for anyone other than Logan Magus or Charles and I can now say, having read at least some Jean.
Gray and right after Gene dies, she is replaced by Kitty Pride, who is a much more compelling character. Hell, Rogue is even more interesting, but no Jean has this big important X-Men story about her, so obviously we have to adapt it for the big screen twice and guess. which doesn't work, but I'll talk about that much later, but anyway, after that we get our second opening scene which features some pretty gruesome body horror of an archangel cutting off his own wings with a knife. I must say that this trilogy has been a lot. darker than I expected and it's a little jarring, I mean I haven't really even seen much more than a drop of blood in a modern Marvel movie and in this movie I'm watching a child mutilate himself, I'm not saying it's something bad, I'm just saying I wasn't expecting it, but after that we get a third opening scene.
Remember earlier when I said that a good opening can hook the viewer, this is basically the opposite of three scenes that make us feel like nothing is like that. significantly worse than a strong scene in this scene we see a vision of the future where the x-men are at war and it's surprisingly kind of dumb like wolverine is joking and i really don't know if this is supposed to be terrible or not wait no It was a cold open, it was modern, but you told me it was in the future, the movie just lied to me, I don't know if you can do that, so the conflict in this movie is that the government wants to send a cure for mutants some of mutants say yes I want to be a real boy and some are like you I still want to shoot lightning Magneto himself is obviously in the latter camp but my problem is What slowly emerges with each of these movies is that Magneto He's not really the most threatening villain after seeing him bumbling through his plan in the first movie and then spending the entire second movie being bold and mean.
I can't find this man threatening now that he's back to being a villain, sorry, I still see him as a sassy old gay. I love this scene where the mystic loses her powers and he says, "I'm sorry, you're in your era of failure, honey, I'm sorry, dear." You are no longer one of us. I haven't listened to any of my gay friends. I've never heard this from any gay person. Anyway, just a few scenes later, Gene comes back to life and kills Cyclops. Yes, this movie is really good. He also dies off-screen. I remember when I saw this as a kid, I swore it had to be a joke, the movie already lied to us once before, so how are we supposed to believe this?
But no, it's true, he just dies, which is crazy, it completely eliminates the possibility of Scott. Being an interesting character, like I said before, he doesn't do anything in the first movie and then he gets kicked out of the second movie to make room for the people we really like and now he just dies and we don't even know how. or why we don't even see it happen, the only explanation for Gene's survival is that her powers enveloped her in a cocoon of telekinetic energy, which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life, okay, believe it or not, It's actually canon too.
Now, in the third movie, we get an info dump from Chuck about the Phoenix's powers and let me tell you, this is a lot to tell us at once in the comics, the story of the Phoenix took place over a long period of time. of time, but here we have exactly one movie in the trilogy that is dedicated to it and, honestly, it's the b-plot, it's not even the most important part of the movie. I have no idea why this movie is trying to tell two completely disconnected stories but anyway in the next scene jean gray kills professor xavier yeah this movie is pretty good if before we barely had compelling characters now we really don't have everything what we have is logan and storm, the movie is barely halfway through at this point and I didn't even have time to mourn Cyclops at this point.
He was still convinced that he was alive. This is not the way to kill off a character and they've done it twice. There's also a little moment that I find hilarious where Pyro is like you should have been the one. to let me kill charles xavier and magneto says that this jones xavier did more for mutants than you will ever imagine and this is so disconcerting several times in this trilogy that he has proven that he will sacrifice anyone it was only one movie ago where charles xavier left he's going to die but now he cares he's so inconsistent the only character we as an audience have to hold on to in this movie right now is logan and he doesn't have any horses in this race he has nothing at stake in this plot other than him The fact that he likes Jean Gray for some reason that we're never aware of here is so complicated that there's no longer any subtlety in the last movie our heroes convinced the president of the United States that mutants are not a threat, but uh oh That means we don't have a story anymore, so now the government is like this, we have to get rid of the mutants and kill Magneto.
Okay, I guess the last movie doesn't matter since there are no X-Men left. Magneto and his thugs have to get rid of the mutant cure and his thugs are like Magneto we have to get to that island which is where the cure takes place and his solution is to blow up the Golden Gate Bridge to the island that Charles always wanted to build bridges oh bro this guy sucks remember when i said the subtlety was completely gone yeah i wasn't kidding now magneto is throwing flaming cars at the x-men like why do they have to be on fire? what is the difference between being hit by? a flying car and a flying car that's on fire and man, look at this pathetic lineup of heroes, we have a guy who has to carry a lot of this movie who doesn't even have time to act like Wolverine, a woman who never got any characterization. in any of these movies, another guy who was just introduced in this movie and a colossus who is also here, yes, he's been here the whole time, he's barely had any lines.
I can count his lines on one hand and I don't need that many fingers to do it, it's just impossible to get involved in this final battle and again, why is Jean Gray here? They haven't justified including her in this story at all after she killed Charles, there really hasn't been anything she could do with these two. It wasn't necessary to close the plot lines this way, but anyway, in the end they decide to weaken Magneto and turn him into a normal human and get rid of his powers, which is honestly a pretty good fate for him in this trilogy. remembers her plan in the first movie but then the writers say wait even though the main story is over and the bad guy has been defeated we forgot to use Jean so yeah so she decides to fly and thanks everyone , what have I done this? the man's motivations are being written by a child save me I love you that you love her now you don't even know her this is really one of those movies that gets worse the longer it goes on this movie is so bad that it becomes the second one It doesn't seem that good, Fortunately, although the best thing about this movie is that it is short and, honestly, this first trilogy is a perfect example ofHow are the X-Men movies going?
Some are painfully average, some are pretty good but not amazing, and some are great. garbage, this movie is dumb and not intentionally so, and overall I don't think it worked very well and this one is so bad that I'll put it on the worst superhero movie on your list, so yeah, three times out of ten for the next one So yeah, that last trilogy was a bit hit and miss and led to a dark era of x-men movies because after x-men 3 was x-men origins wolverine, a movie that's so bad I almost made it worse . superhero movie video last year, then I decided I was going to do the whole of Wolverine all together in the next video of this, we're just going to cover the actual X-Men movies, you know, the ones with the -Men. movie that I have personally seen and I must say that this movie is pretty good after watching them all I think I can safely say that this is my favorite X-Men movie and finally after all this time we finally have the only thing I have ever seen.
I asked for good characters, this movie is basically an origin story for Charles and Eric and it not only highlights their relationship but also their personalities. Charles is normally a pretty stoic and downright boring character in these movies, but since he's younger here we get to see that. In a very formative moment in his life, I like that one of the first scenes of him shows him using his powers to flirt with women in a bar. It immediately grabs your attention because it's a nice subversion of our expectations and for once we get to see Charles using his true gift his ability to relate to his fellow mutants this movie has some cute montages and the best one is where he trains his first group of x -men we went from a trilogy of movies with very weak characters to a movie that actually manages to balance each of the x-men quite well and this one really puts the x into x-men by making charles the main character it's such a simple idea and effective and I'm surprised more stories don't take this approach oh and also mystique is her adopted sister uh yeah remember when they mentioned that yes she's always present The continuity theme of these films is still present here in the last three films .
The mystique was just the lady who practiced karate, but now she's a full character and she didn't have much time to do much more than look sexy in each other. movies, but now her conflict with her role in society is explored a little more. I particularly like the sun plot with her and Hank debating whether they should hide their physical mutations and in this one we get to see what she sees in Magneto and why I would take his side, but speaking of enhanced characters, by far the most improved here is Magneto. In the other movies, he's a megalomaniacal freak who doesn't even seem to like mutants.
He treats everyone with this level of disrespect to the point that he doesn't treat me. I don't really see him as a mutant freedom fighter, he doesn't like anyone, it's very hard to understand why anyone would take his side here, he's clearly wrong and crazy, but in this movie he actually seems like a well-rounded character, his motivations They're actually clear and for once you agree with him and that's when Magneto is at his best when you can see his perspective and turn the villain into a character that you don't think is wrong, it's very simple and I'm glad that these movies I finally got it right.
I also love how the duality of these two characters is explored creatively. In one scene, we see Eric ordering a beer and then killing Nazis who ruined his life right after, it cuts to Charles drinking a beer at a party full of For people who like it, it's a nice juxtaposition that shows how his environment has changed their lives, how their lives are similar and if the circumstances were a little different, they may have ended up following different paths. I'd be a fool too if I forgot to mention that. The two characters are being played by two good actors, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, who had very good chemistry between them and are now being replaced by Michael Fassbender and James Mcavoy.
The thing is, they don't need to remind us exactly of Charles. and eric from the other movies are doing their own thing which works better in my opinion because I see this less as a prequel and more of a reimagining because if you see this as a true prequel your brain might melt when you try to connect it to the previous movies. I remember seeing it as a sort of soft reboot and it works better when you look at it with that mindset and this movie is a huge improvement over the previous trilogy in every way, for one thing it's so much better.
Balancing the tone the other movies seemed embarrassed to be superhero movies but this particular movie is great at balancing a mature story with comic book silliness, that's not to say the movie is perfect there are still some cheesy lines that you should take into account. Professor X and you should be Magneto. Wolverine's cameo is cute, but it lasts too long. I really don't understand why these movies are so obsessed with Wolverine. He shows up even when the story doesn't need him. January Jones can't. acts to save his life in this movie and this movie also kills the only x-man whose power is not to die each of us will face the choice of being enslaved oh my god that's racist and of course the last scene of This movie is so unintentional.
It's funny, now the main problem area is here, this area is also not good, I hate this but I'm mainly worried about this, but despite that I think this movie is great anyway, it's well directed and has a lot style and finally finally we Get an X-Men movie with yellow jumpsuits and would you rather yellow spandex? Yes, it would look much cooler. I must also say that by far this movie has the best climax of them all. Every character is used so well and it's crazy how much more so. I'm more invested in this relatively simple final conflict than the big explosive final battle of the last film.
Magneto raising a bridge is pretty boring because I'm not invested in his story. Magneto raising a submarine in this movie moves because this The whole movie developed naturally, even if it's a little smaller in comparison, what he's doing, this movie basically exists to prove that you can make a good X-Men movie, so yeah, that's not even a question, this is my favorite. I've seen so far and I haven't really seen any of the other movies in this box so I'm pretty interested to see where we go from here so yeah I'll give this an 8 out of 10.
As surprised as everyone else , I really like this one, so these last three movies are the ones I've never seen before and this one in particular is the one I know the least about. I haven't seen the trailer and I don't even know who's in it, I read the comic it's based on but other than that I went in completely blind and wow, this movie starts with a bang, we're thrown into a distant future where the x-men are hunted and killed by the sentinels. and I think this movie's version of the sentinels works pretty well, they have the ability to change to fit whatever mutant they're fighting and that makes them really menacing and a little scary, I usually hate when movies use future technology of the mass effect nano machine. design and I've criticized it in movies before, but I like that the sentinels' design actually has a purpose: their animation is meant to mirror Mystique's transformation effect.
I think it's pretty clever when it comes to design and it works to make them. More menacing story-wise, this is the big epic finale that X-Men 3 wanted it to be. This movie has a sense of finality as it brings back all the characters we've seen so far and creates this time travel narrative that can fit all these characters from different eras together and it's actually really nice to go back and see them. These characters, although I have criticized them in the past in this movie, have to go back in time and prevent this scientist named Trask from being murdered and starting this anti-mutant war.
To stop the murder, they send Logan to the past and in The original days of the future past story send Kitty back and it's a great story to develop her character since she was pretty new to the world. team back then and this is the story arc where I was really sold and it has since become one of my favorite x-mans but in this movie I have to say I like that they sent Logan back yeah this one movie series has kind of a huge boner for Wolverine and while I think that's detrimental in the movies that we'll talk about in the next video, I think it's actually acceptable here because he's really been the main character in most of these stories, so it's nice to give He forms a final team to finish things and this movie is good for people who have been trying to pay attention to the previous ones, but like all the X-Men movies, it's very selective with the continuity he wants to preserve, like we saw Toad in the first movie, but now he's here in the '70s and somehow he seems older and, wow, we took Professor Xavier's legs off in the last movie, but we need him back walk for plot convenience, so now take a magic serum that can temporarily restore. his spine, that type of medical advance would change the world, it is a shame that it ceases to exist after this movie, although the funniest thing is that in this movie Trask is played by Peter Dinklage in X-Men Three, he is played by this man Am I loneliness?
I didn't know everyone noticed he was white, so anyway this story starts off with a pretty simple time heist where our heroes go back in time to stop Mystique from murdering the guy who invented sentinels and I have to say the movie is becomes really interesting. once everything goes well the story leaves us in a loop in the middle where the murder is foiled but new problems arise because of all this, all hell breaks loose and I love not knowing where this story will go next, this is very different. type of story none of the mutants get along, normal humans aren't even sure if mutants are real yet, so their prejudices are still forming and we are directly shown the consequences of our hero's failure, so We know the constant threat, this also increases the Ante when it comes to the show, when the writers really know what to do with a mutant, they use their powers in quite creative ways on each of them.
I will say that Magneto is probably the most consistent in terms of showing his powers. ways you wouldn't even believe are possible, but in this movie this is especially evident with mercury. The mercury in this series makes the mercury in the mcu seem like an absolute joke. Here he has personality and we can see his powers used in one of the best scenes of the franchise before seeing this movie people always told me brother, wait until you see the quicksilver scene and I admit that it did not disappoint me. I really didn't understand why people were so excited for this guy to appear in Wandavision. but now that I've experienced it here, I'm pretty upset that it was wasted as this cheap tease on that show and honestly this scene is too good because you'll never see something this cool again, but overall I think this movie is actually pretty dumb and it sucks that this and x2 are run by one huge piece.
It's very difficult to see anything nowadays without encountering at least one bad person. There are many different hands involved in making a film. Even a bastard, but it's safe to say that the direction in these films has never been the strong point and to be honest, the best thing about these new films has been the performances. Watching Hugh Jackman act alongside mcavoy is great, it's fun to watch. an experienced and wiser logan teaching a young and wayward charles is a nice little twist to what we saw in the first movie and i like seeing mcavoy and patrick stewart act in the best scene of the entire movie this is the kind of thing They make time travel fun in comic book stories and if I had to make some criticisms, I would say that this movie spends too much time pontificating about hope and the future of mutants.
Yes, this is all very good, but we have been talking about it. These things appear in all the X-Men movies so I want to see something new and I have to say that although the middle act of this movie excited me, it's not really as worth it as I would like this story to be, I think. It definitely peaks in the first half, loses a lot of steam after the half, but it's still far from a bad story. I still think that FirstClass is a much better movie from start to finish, but I wasn't disappointed at all with the ending of this one. one I particularly like because it feels like the grand finale to the x-men film series.
This is definitely the most ambitious x-man movie I've seen so far and I liked watching it so I'm giving this one away. a 7 out of 10. Yeah that seems fair, is it just me or do these intros feel like the doctor introduced it, that's the same thing, so anyway the last two X-Men movies were pretty good and I have to admit that the last one worked. very good, just like the final x-men movie, the resolution of that movie was so good as a send off to all the other movies before it, i mean even retcons x-men 3. That's how complete it is after a finale which is that conclusive.
You need a pretty good reason to continue the series, so does Age of Apocalypse justify its existence? No, not at all, this movie is surprisingly terrible. This movie is kind of the epitome of beating a dead horse, for some reason this looks and feels like the cheapest. -Guy movie, looks like a CW show, now I'm watching if I uploaded the final battle of this movie without context and then told you my score for this movie, none of you would question me, come on, look. In this, they didn't even erase the green screen at all. You can still see it.
Looks like I did it myself. Look, when you have curly hair, it's impossible to get it out. What can I do in each scene where the apocalypse is? Talking has these quick, disorienting cuts, like they're trying to divert attention away from him, maybe because they know he seems stupid. I don't know, I really don't understand it. We also return to the flaws that all the other films had. once again we have a movie with Storm Cyclops and Jean Gray where they now have no traits or personalities despite all of this, if this movie had really focused on Cyclops and Gene and all these original x-men we would have had. it's a much more interesting movie but the problem is it tries to be another big epic x-men movie like the last one was but if you ask me this should have been a smaller scale story for a second I was excited to see a nice scene from Our reimagined X-Men go to the mall and hang out, but when they go to the mall they have fun off screen, we don't even see what they did.
This is a gigantic missed opportunity. The second half of the film is about them. but again we forgot to give them character traits, how do you mess this up now? The last movie basically ended in a way that means these prequel movies are actually a complete reboot. Now this is a new alternate timeline and, as such, part of the plot. The inconsistencies can be overlooked, but some of this is so distracting. The only plot inconsistency that stands out to me for some reason is that we're not supposed to question the fact that none of these people have aged because this movie was set in 1962.
It's set in the '80s, 20 years later, damn , that gene x is really working overtime, like this guy here is supposed to be 40 years old, the actor wasn't even 30 when this movie was made, all these main characters are supposed to be at least over 40, some of them are close to 50and none of the actors were over 30 here sorry white people don't age that's just her she looks amazing she's barely aged today oh yeah that's convenient in fact none of you has done it, but that's okay, whatever I won't focus on is too much, let's talk about the actual movie, the purpose of this movie is to show us how professor xavier became bald.
I mean, I'm not really wrong about that, I mean, I'm just assuming he shaves his head, but this movie establishes that he shaves his head. bald because he absorbs too much power. I've tried saying that line without laughing several times and that's the closest I've come. This movie tries to juggle too many plates at once. We have a new villain that comes out of nowhere. Most new mutants added in a single movie. This film features Archangel Psylock and new versions of Storm Nightcrawler, Jean, and Cyclops. Were any of these characters developed in this film? No way, not this time, no, it's not possible that we also have our old character, Magneto. going through the same tired conflict we've seen him go through in all these prequel movies now, like I said, I really liked him first class, I thought it was good that these movies gave him more depth, but at this point I'm officially tired of seeing him fighting with the light side and the dark side, it was well made in first class and was acceptable in days of the future past, but at this point this is just absurd and one very strange thing these movies like to do is establish a completely new antagonist but also make magneto the other villain even if it doesn't make sense in x-men 2, the main villain of that movie was striker and also magneto in x-men 3, the villain was jean gray and also magneto in the days of future past the antagonists were basically the sentinels but also magneto hey i can fly and in this movie the main villain is apocalypse and also magneto at the beginning of this movie magneto seems like a pretty calm guy but all you have to do with magneto is go up to him and says: hey, do you want to go kill some people? and he says: die, die, die, oh Magneto is happy and at peace now, well we better give him a new family and then kill him just so he can verbally tell the audience that he is having a moral conflict internal is this what you want from me is this who I am no this is not happening there is no reason for me to continue why am I fighting but when I should also mention that this movie is now trying to turn Quicksilver back into Magneto's son , which just doesn't make any sense in this movie.
This is very clearly something they didn't plan ahead and are just throwing into this at the last minute, like when Magneto came across this random thing. Woman, how many families does this man have? However, I will say that Quicksilver again has the best scene in this movie, on the one hand I'm glad there's a scene in this one with some life and energy, but it's also a little annoying that we. We're relying on the only thing they knew worked in the last movie. I just think that no matter what happens here, I hate everything about this movie, even the costumes, they're just uninspired.
This is like an analogy of the whole movie we had. something that worked, but now we're back to this, although I will say that this movie is definitely not boring, it's a lot of fun, this movie is just desperate to try to use elements that made the other movies work if you didn't. Believe me when I said this movie is manipulative, they bring Wolverine back for just a short scene where they need him to kill some people. This is so incredibly vague that I'm not sure if this is the worst X-Men movie I've ever seen. Looking at it so far, I think Last Stand is probably the worst movie on paper, but this one is much more offensive, well at least we can all agree that the third one is always the worst.
Yeah you said it sis so I'm putting this on our worst superhero movie tier list and giving it a 3.5 out of 10. this is this this is what this is boring now everyone told me this movie was going to be bad . I've been hearing this since this movie came out so I have to say I was really looking forward to it and yeah I mean they weren't lying it sure sucks so this is our second attempt at making a Phoenix story for the screen big and you know how great it was last time. but this time the movie tries to be more faithful to the comics, which means we get a lot of extras that we didn't really need.
I should also mention the fact that this movie is set in the 90s which means charles xavier is supposed to look like this by now yeah you look great charlie anyway probably the most notable thing about this movie is that the script is, how should I put this? uh let's say it's doo doo and by the way the women are always saving the men around here you might want to think about changing the name to ex-wives but even though the performances here aren't that bad I gotta say At least the actors in these movies are really trying, Nicholas Holt has been a kind of Unsung Hero in these movies, his acting has been very good and this kitchen scene is the best he does, but that doesn't mean his character It's very well written, but we'll get to that in a minute at the same time.
We have Jennifer Lawrence, who has really given it her all, but at this point it's very obvious that she clearly doesn't want to be in these movies anymore. Can we let the mystique go? She's been here long enough. Oh, that's one way to do it. Yes, in this movie, Jean Gray kills Mystique, this movie is fine, this is the big event that makes both the Beast and Magneto lose their damn minds, they go on this evil quest of murder and revenge to kill Jean Gray and now the Beast has no reason to do so instantly. becoming so bloodthirsty yeah he loved Raven but it doesn't suit his character he's not that irrational and he's the last person who should resort to violence and then we have Magneto and oh man don't get me started on Magneto in this point. he's just ridiculously stupid, every one of these prequel movies has the same arc for magneto, this guy oscillates between good and bad in the most unnatural way in one scene, it's like he has to be a good man and not act. go out and not go crazy because I want to give the mutants a good name, I have people to protect and then the beast says, hey, you want to kill Gene and he's like death to all of them, it's a little strange at this point how every character loves There's so much mystique, especially when you look back at the original movies and remember the fact that she barely had any lines, but now it's like she's the only girl on the Discord server and everyone is obsessed with her.
Yes, women belong in the kitchen, except me, because me. I'm one of the guys, this movie has officially lost everything that made these movies enjoyable. This may be the worst and unlike the last movie, this one doesn't even have mercury to distract us. He's in the movie for a second, but Jean Gray pulls. She threw him into a bush, yeah, that's it, she walked out of the movie, now she's in a coma because she threw him into a berry bush. Remember when I said before that when writers don't know what to do with a character because his power is too strong.
They just get rid of them, this is probably the worst example of that. I mean, after all, we have to have more time to devote to Jean Grey. I mean, the movie is about her after all, except for the second time we forgot to give Jean Grey. Character traits in this movie, the Phoenix force enters Jean Grey's body and causes her to go crazy and have uncontrollable powers, but she clearly has had uncontrollable Phoenix powers in the last movie, so you're telling me that this It was not the strength of the Phoenix. that's strange but now this movie establishes that no she didn't have the phoenix force until now they could have said the phoenix force was always inside her why didn't they plan this story in advance but no we have to do it? reintroduce the phoenix force in this one because this movie also has to set up aliens, yes aliens this is basically the craziest thing this movie can choose to do right now, yes aliens appear a lot in x-men stories, but I can say Now that I'm more familiar with comics, I don't really like it when they do alien things, that's not to say that you can't write cool sci-fi stories involving X-Men, but it does feature aliens for the first time. time in the latest x-men movie, let's say it's a bit bold, it's also very bold to not give any motivation to your main villain.
Jessica Chastain's character is probably the worst superhero movie villain I've ever seen and I just said the same thing. statement a few videos ago, so believe me, this was also very surprising to me. I can hardly call her a real character. Her backstory is that her planet was destroyed by the Phoenix force, so now she wants to harness her power and destroy the Earth. What she doesn't really say is what she wants to do. I thought that maybe she wants to help her people, but no, that's not it either. Can we make up a reason? Can we give you a reason to be in this movie? anything, this part here makes me laugh, look at this, she just stands there and remembers this is also the second time we tried to adapt Phoenix's story at the last minute and, like X-Men 3, Jean She's not a character yet, her only personality trait is that she likes her boyfriend, the only dialogue she has.in this movie it's her saying I can't control my powers people are going to get hurt if I break things I can't control it when it comes I can't stop it okay I might hurt you again when it comes people get hurt when I lose control things happen bad that's how every conversation goes in this movie it doesn't seem like much happens in this movie because gene just flies around and tries to get people to help her and then they arrest them all and fight aliens and that's it the movie is over when the final battle began.
I was very surprised because it didn't feel like a final battle. I guess you could say that The Last Stand is at least semi-entertaining from the perspective of a dumb animal brain, it's just the X-Men absolutely murdering a bunch of people, look at this beatdown, but no, okay, don't worry worry, it's just aliens on this train. The scene is probably the only fun scene in the movie just because it's a big dumb action scene and of course it has to turn into a boring cg Pink Fire and then as expected Jean Gray dies to save her friends Scott.
Do you have any feelings about it? No. that's fine and that's it, there's nothing else I can talk about here, there's really nothing else that happens in this movie, but to be honest, in some ways this one isn't as bad as I expected, don't get me wrong , It is not good. not at all, but after the last movie I really thought I was going to see something really offensive to my senses and yes, this is worse than the last one, but it's like only marginally they still have a lot of the same problems, so let's leave it at that level. list and give this another three out of ten, yeah I'm going to be honest with you, I think I hate the X-Men in general now, I think the movies haven't been that good, the comics are pretty good, they're supposed to this is crazy.
I'm excited to read that and we still have half a dozen movies to watch so I'll need a break real quick. I have to finish some of these. You guys don't have to go anywhere, but just don't. Don't bother me, I'll see you next year. Hey, I'm Stan Lee.
