Today's main story takes a sudden, wild detour that you won't see coming. Well, let's get into today's stories while in college at Carnegie Mellon University, Aaron Ralston studied mechanical engineering, French, and piano, and then upon graduation, he moved to the Southwest and took a job as an engineer, but five years after starting his corporate job he realized he hated it, so he quit and moved to Colorado to pursue his true passion in life, which was mountain climbing, on April 25, 2003. Ralston takes a trip to Utah where he plans to explore Canyonlands National Park. He slept in his truck that night and the next morning, around 9:15 am, he gets up and it's this beautiful Saturday morning, he gets on his bike and rides 15 miles.

He was going to walk with both feet on each wall because it was very narrow and like he was spider-man through this section. the canyon, but as he began that maneuver, a huge 800 pound rock fell on top of him and he fell and barely got out of the way, but it fell on his arm and pinned him against the wall and he couldn't move. and he is suspended 100 feet above the ground and is 20 miles from the nearest paved road.

He immediately tries to free his hand and push the rock away, but he doesn't go anywhere and that's when he realizes that he didn't tell anyone. he was going to be in this gorge today no one knows he is here and he is very far from anyone who can help him and he has no cell phone he has no radio he has no way to contact anyone who could potentially help him now the position he was in was not that he was hanging by his arm 100 feet off the ground. He was able to position himself against the rocks where he wasn't hanging.

He was able to sit quite comfortably besides his arm being crushed and He was able to use the rock that had actually pinned him there as some sort of table or something to lean on and after calming down a bit, after a few minutes, he stretches out. back, he pulls his bag out to the front and starts taking inventory of what he has and all he had was 12 ounces of water, so just one bottle of water and he had two burritos and some chocolate bar crumbs, that was it what he had in terms of tools, all he had was this crappy multi-tool and he had a little knife that extended from the end and almost immediately he takes that multi-tool and starts cutting through this rock to try to see if he can break it and push half way through, but quickly discover that it's completely useless, it's not moving, it's a huge rock, it's not going anywhere, you can't break it with this disgusting little multi-tool.

When the sun started to set, Aaron started thinking very hard. seriously about trying to cut off his arm, but again, everything he has. it's this multi-tool and this nasty little dull knife and he's thinking there's no way I can cut my arm, there's bone there, I can't cut the bone and very discouraged he puts away his multi-tool and starts to nurse the water and eat I slowly eat the food and think that maybe some miracle will happen where for the next few days someone will be within earshot, I can shout at them and they can come get me or maybe someone will see me when they are walking.

At the top, I can wait, but by the fifth day he had run out of water and was delirious. At that time, he was actually drinking his own urine and expected to die overnight, so with his multi-tool he carved his name into the rock and then underneath it he carved the date he expected to die, which was the day next and then he put down his multi-tool and had a camera with limited battery and he took it out and, selfie style, filmed the goodbyes. to your family my name is aaron ralston my parents are with larry ralston from englewood colorado whoever finds this please try to give it to him but i would appreciate it after he finished filming he put the camera away and leaned against the rock and expected to die but it starts to having a really intense dream where he sees himself playing with a child and his right arm is missing and he takes that as a sign that he's supposed to cut off his arm and get out. from here I live and go start a family and then he wakes up from the gutter and suddenly all he wants to do is survive and he looks at his arm that is already starting to decay at this point and he thinks to himself, I know I can .

I can't cut the bone, but what if I can break my arm cleanly? I can take this blade and cut the fracture in the bone, so I started testing using the edge of the rock as a fulcrum to see if I could break his arm using the torque of pushing it over the edge of the rock and when he started to Feeling like it was possible, he took a deep breath and then broke his arm, he grabbed his multi-tool and for the next hour he pored over his entire arm once his arm was free, he couldn't believe it, he actually smiled when he saw his arm still trapped under it. the rock due to his sheer will to live at this point and full of adrenaline, he climbed the 65 feet.

Out of this canyon with his only arm he reaches the trail and runs six miles and runs into a group of hikers, they give him food and water and are totally alarmed for him, but they are happy to help him. They call 911 and the doctors arrive and save Aaron's life after the rescue of Aaron Ralston. They went back to recover his arm, but to move that rock they had to bring 13 park rangers, a hydraulic jack, a winch and all this heavy equipment. We were barely able to move it and they told Aaron that if you had still been in the place, there was no way we could have placed the equipment without killing you, so you basically had to cut off your arm to get out of there, there was no other way out.

And so for Aaron, I'm sure it felt really good to feel like you cut off your arm and that was the right decision: they would take his arm, cremate it, and give the ashes to Aaron and Aaron after they cremated his arm. A couple of days later they decided that no, he needed to put this where it belongs, so Aaron returned to the canyon where he had been trapped and spread his ashes over the rock that had almost killed him in 2010. I saw him enter the store and then I saw him leave again. and that was it, I don't know where he went after the gas station, so for the next few days nothing happened, there were no leads to operate and Tim wouldn't contact them, so they just waited in January. On the 30th, about a week after Tim went missing, Tim's family receives a letter from a car impound company in Atlanta, Georgia, and the letter basically says that there is a car in our parking lot that is registered to your house. You have to come here and they get it, so the family goes to Atlanta, Georgia to inspect the car and they walk up to it and there's nothing suspicious about it, there's no scratches, the tires are fully inflated, they look inside and there's no signs of fight, there is no blood, there are no remains of any kind, but what they would find inside the car were Tim's credit cards, his wallet, his license and other items that suggest that perhaps Tim is trying to get rid of his old identity and start a new one.

They also noticed some very expensive items. who knew they were always in his car were now missing his car stereo, his toolbox, and his bicycle. Tim's family stayed in Atlanta for a couple of days thinking that maybe Tim would return to this car, but after a couple of days it became clear that they were gone. He wasn't doing any good sitting there, so when they got back to Florida, they looked a little closer inside Tim's room and found that they hadn't taken any of his clothes, they hadn't taken any suitcases, it was like he was He would have gone with only the clothes he was wearing.

Until his mom made him go to the doctor and prescribed medication that she stabilized, but at that time she didn't know if her son was taking any medication or not, so to be sure she said, hey, let's go to the doctor. and they have examined you, you don't seem well, so she takes him to the doctor and the doctor quickly prescribes Larry an antidepressant, they go and fill the prescription, they come home and Larry takes one of these antidepressants, but the medicine didn't seem do anything because throughout the day Larry became more and more stressed and seemed more confused and finally told his mom that he was hearing voices in his head telling him that his heart was beating too fast and that he needed to eat sugar to slow it down. his heart and his mom looks at him thinking what do I do about it and then all she could think to do was just stand next to him and comfort him while he sits there eating sugar on the As the day went on, he finally fell asleep that night and his mother was praying that over the course of the night, somehow, this medication that they had prescribed would take effect and he would wake up and feel better because up until now he really seemed to be just getting exponentially worse, but the next morning, when Larry got up, he was just as bad as he was the night before, except now he was having these vivid hallucinations and he said there were

in the house looking for him, so we spent the day running around the house. house hiding from people in the house who weren't actually there and finally that night Larry just loses his temper and starts yelling at his parents and berating them before suddenly running out the front door with no shoes, no jacket, no wallet, no cell phone, nothing. and he just runs straight into the blizzard and disappears.

His family was so caught off guard by what happened that it took them a minute to walk out the front door after him, but it was snowing so hard they could barely see in front of their faces and they knew he was gone, so they immediately called the police. , but the police have the same problem. They can't go look for him right now because the visibility was so bad and they told his family we can't start until tomorrow morning so I'm hoping he shows up tonight so the next day when the weather gets a little better, the police go out to look for larry and they ask people in town if they have seen him and no one has seen larry and unfortunately because it had snowed so much the night before larry's footprints left larry's house, now we are covered and after a couple of days of this, when there are no such signs, the police tell the family, look, you know there's not much we could do, we'll just have to wait and see if it shows up ten years later.

The simple supermarket where Larry used to work was out of business and was about to be torn down and some contractors were sent in to get started. knocking down the shelves and knocking down the inside of the building and when they went to the back and started removing those huge freezers that hold the milk and dairy products, they started removing them from the wall, Larry's body fell out, he was trapped In this small 18-inch-wide space between the back of the freezer and the wall, it is believed that the night Larry ran barefoot from his parents' house into a snowstorm, ran up the street and went to the simple supermarket .

It was locked at the time, but he had access to the back door with the key code because he worked there, so he went in and climbed on top of the freezers, the section of the freezers that juts out into the space that no one in the La store you can see and he went up to the top because up there all the workers congregated there, it was like a little clubhouse where the workers avoided the managers during small moments of the day, so Larry probably went up there because it represented a really happy place for him and when he got there, he must have somehow tripped and fallen into the small 18 inch space between the freezer and the wall.

Investigators believe there is no way he was actually hurt when he fell into this small space. He was trapped there, but was not injured. The problem was that these huge fans running constantly to keep the freezer cold were incredibly loud and would have completely drowned out his cries for help, so no one knows for sure how long it took, but he would eventually die because no one heard him looking at old posts from Facebook at the time Larry would have died.
