NEW Audi RS6: 1000 Mile Review - Ultimate Long Distance Relationship | 4K

Jun 06, 2021
Well, a little confession. I'm a little obsessed with the claims that he was designated 737. I find them really fascinating. They are a great way to travel from one faraway place to another very, very quickly, but sometimes airplanes can be a bit of a soulless way to go. travel so today I'm going to do something a little different. I have a big trip ahead of me, but instead of flying and embracing my spirit of adventure, I'll take the

long

way home. This is Stuttgart, where I've been given the keys to the latest RS6, but rather than test drive the car here and then fly back to the UK, I've decided to skip the plane altogether and go on a 900

mile

road trip to see really the car and being able to do it.

I can't think of a better car to take on a

long

trip than the Audi RS6. When they built this, they basically met every single requirement he had gained from his dream car. Good appearance, practicality, great performance. I got to the numbers in just a second and they are very good numbers, but before I do I need to get this car somewhere we can really stretch our legs. Unfortunately, that place is 100

mile

s in the wrong direction. This is the Black Forest. a mountain range in southwestern Germany best known for inventing the cuckoo clock. It is also home to some of the best roads in Europe.

More Interesting Facts About,

Roads where we can properly examine what makes the rs6 special. The first thing you should know is that it basically uses the same engine. Like the previous model, it's a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 and may look a bit boring, but they've made some very interesting changes: they've fitted a larger turbo and increased the boost pressure from 1.4 bar to 1.2 bar. , so now it's even more powerful. more power 600 metric horsepower and 800 Newton meters of torque, that's an improvement over the old car that only made 560 and 700 Newton meters. Acceleration is of course quite violent, it won't do anything to 62 in 3.6 seconds, that's an improvement over the previous car which did. at 3.9, top speed will depend on which version you choose, the base car maxes out at 1 5 5, while the Launch Edition will hit 174 at full throttle and carbon brakes to the mix and they'll raise that limit to 189 miles per hour.

The key thing, though, is that acceleration is absolutely purple. Every time you put your foot down, you unleash a torrent of torque, power and aggression. You really have to mentally prepare for every signal you hit so fast they use a double clutch. gearbox in this car and it works so well, it's smooth, it's responsive, it's fast, it's so good that I use it at every opportunity. The IRS 6 also has rear-wheel steering, which means that at medium to high speeds the rear wheels turn. in the same direction as the front wheels to maintain stability, but at low speeds the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction by up to 5 degrees now in the city, which has the effect of minimizing the turning circle where we are by around 1 meter here on these on the roads, it has the effect of making the car very direct, it wants to turn into each corner so aggressively that it feels like such an agile car and the engine sounds tremendous, it is an unconventional monster, with a low, guttural rumble, from a v8, sounds glorious.

To enjoy this sort of thing while it's around, man, as it may not last much longer, the rs6 handles superbly even on the narrow, twisty roads of the Black Forest, but as good as these roads are, there are another reason why I have chosen to come here. The Black Forest is famous for its roads, but it's also legendary for its pie, so here's something you might not know about me. I am a great connoisseur of the desert. When in the UK you might want to eat some sticky. caramel pudding, but when you are here in the Black Forest you have to eat the dessert that the Black Forest is famous for and which happens to be the Black Forest cake.
This won't look very good, but I guarantee it will go. It tastes fantastic mmm, very good and while we are here we can enjoy a little bit of the beauty of this car because I think the RS6 is definitely one of the most attractive family cars on the market today, it is based on the standard. a6 Avant but it has had a fairly aggressive rs treatment the two cars have very little in common apart from the front doors roof and tailgate the front end bears more than a passing resemblance to the r8 but features headlights from the a7 the bonnet has a bulging power The fairing and bodywork have been widened by 40 millimeters thanks to the new widened wheel arches.
This launch edition also comes with some distinctive features including 22-inch wheels, red brake calipers over steel discs and gloss black styling accents - of course, none of this comes cheap - the top spec. The spring model cost one hundred and nine thousand pounds, while this first edition will sell for one hundred and seven hundred, even the standard car costs 92 thousand pounds, that's a lot of money, you know? What else is a lot of money? Time, I will. Get back on the road. Some of you watching this might think that driving a long

distance

might be a complete waste of time, but think of all the hassle that comes with flying in this one, the RS6, it's quiet, it's comfortable, it's luxurious, it doesn't breathe. in other people's air, these seats by the way are fantastic, they are not the traditional sports seats that you get in fast cars, they are proper chairs that you are completely happy to spend time in and sit on on long trips, they are bright, there is also good space to carry family friends and all their things.
The boot offers 565 liters, although that's just over a hundred liters less than the eq7, but the rear cabin is as spacious as any SUV thanks to decent head and legroom, and there's plenty of space on board to carry around. You have fun when you fly, sometimes you get a decent inflight entertainment setup but mostly on short haul flights you don't get anything, but on the rs6 you get decent entertainment. I love the dual screen setup so on the bottom screen down here you get all the climate control settings access your heated seats and while I'm not the world's biggest fan of the touch sensitive climate adjustment you get feedback haptic to vibrate and let you know when you click the button works great on top. screen you have access to all your music control your media playback your phone your navigation maps and mice and they respond very quickly, plus you get a second map screen in the instrument binnacle right in front of you, so there really is no excuse for getting lost in an rs6 if you don't like using the built in maps there is of course the option of using apple carplay or android auto all in all a lovely piece of entertainment as spacious and as well equipped as the rs6 there is only a limited time.
You can drive in a straight line patting yourself on the back about how fantastic the leather is without wanting to stop for a light relief, and three hours into my trip I needed a light relief in the form of a performance test. Hello, I think. the rs6 won't do anything up to 62 in 3.6 seconds but it's not always good to take the manufacturer's word for anything and i know a place we can go and put it to the test let's get it right so the rs6 really has its own built-in motor. on the stopwatch to let you know exactly how fast the car goes from zero to 100, not 200 quarter mile or eighth mile, but I have my own independent judge in the form of a trailing lap stopwatch and this will tell me exactly based on the GPS, how fast is this car, let's finish here, come on, good launch, that 62 now according to the rs6 did it in 4.0, what's the draggy saying now?
Quick disclaimer, the draggy actually measures zero to 60, not zero to sixty-two, and it's running. zero to 60 in three point eight seven seconds, so it's probably zero to sixty-two in four seconds. They're pretty consistent, pretty accurate. I'm going to call those four seconds fast, but definitely not as fast as LD claims. I don't know the temperature of the tires, we are using winter tires at the moment, it's a little cold outside and neither. I guess the next test should be how fast this car can go flat out on the Autobahn. Let's find out the problem with the Autobahn, although it is technically restricted in many places, there are other people on the road and that means you can't always reach top speed, you just have to be patient.
I don't know what label you ordered. of people from the tailgate until they pass by Audi passing by yellow works thanks easy on this curve more car speed limits we may never find out what the maximum speed of this car is Moscow at 20 2:30 24350 - 60 217 a 80 a 80 I hit 80, that was 174 miles per hour and I felt like the car could do a little more, in fact I slowed down because there were people on the road saying that traversing Germany with the pin is probably not ideal for the environment , all your bills. at the gas station, fortunately vote, if you step on the accelerator, the RS6 has a few tricks up its sleeve that can help the big V8 use less fuel and emit less carbon dioxide, namely mild hybrid technology and cylinders on the map, have Eight cylinders are usually pretty bad news for fuel economy, but the car doesn't have to run on eight cylinders all the time; no it has cylinders on demand which means it can switch from eight cylinders to four cylinders when you're not hitting it so sometimes the car will turn off cylinders two, three, five and eight and essentially run like a v4 and the Good news is that the car shifts between eight and four cylinders seamlessly, you can't tell when it's holding back, however, you can tell when the engine shuts down completely.
It does this because it's quite logical to do it on the coast to save fuel, so if the engine temperature is correct, if the speed is correct, if the throttle is positioned correctly, it will basically turn off the engine completely and just cruise, plus it has cameras which scan the road ahead, if it detects that a car in front is slowing down, it will send a small vibration to your right foot to let you know that you might want to take off and when you do it again, it will turn off the engine and start it.
In theory, you can save gas, but as I left Germany for Belgium and from the dry to the very, very wet, it became clear that with six hundred horsepower under my right foot, no amount of pedal slip or vibration would get me back. at the claimed 24 miles. per gallon, the reality of the situation is that I have been getting between 15 and 18 miles per gallon, so even with all that technology it is still a very thirsty car, there are a couple of other small annoyances that I don't like about the RS6 though It's a great car, first things first, the key is a bit cheap and tacky as far as I'm concerned, for a hundred thousand pound car you see something a little better than that, secondly, a hundred thousand and you don't get all of them.
A single feature you might want, for example it doesn't come with automatic keyless entry, you'll have to pay an extra nineteen hundred pounds to get that automatic cruise control, which is also not included as standard, you'll have to pay another nineteen hundred. pounds to include it so even though it's a lovely car there are a couple of things that aren't quite ideal apart from the rs6 the rs6 really is a fantastic way to drive long

distance

s and spending time behind the wheel gives you a lot opportunities to reflect on the relaxing beauty of rain on any trip.
I left in Germany the surprising variety of interesting car options while cruising through Belgium and, in particular, how much willpower it takes not to unleash six hundred horsepower on the vast stretches of empty roads I encountered in the Netherlands. France disappeared in the blink of an eye and the Channel Tunnel gave me another chance to collect my thoughts, so we got to the Channel Tunnel and now I think I have the chance to reflect on the journey, reflect on the car, would I rather spend about two hours in a plane or six seven hours in an rs6 no competition really rs6 every time this thing has been unflappable it has been great in the mountains it has been amazing on the Autobahn and even just riding around driving slowly at the speed limit on the highway yes it's been absolutely tremendous, sometimes when you spend a lot of time with a car you can start to find faults with it, little annoyances that bother you during a long drive, but this thing, if anything, my appreciation for it has gone up and climbed to the clouds.
Now, what a journey back to the UK and with over a thousand miles completed, it's easy to see why this is such a special car, making a welcome change from the obvious monotony of flying. It's a car you'll really want to spend time in. No matter how long the journey, if you're looking for something that combines practicality and performance, something that has obvious yet understated charm, there's nothing sweeter than a DRS six.
