I'm ready for life to get back to normal, but I hope everyone stays safe, happy, and healthy as much as they can. I've been trying to use things I already had around the house and the projects I've been planning for quite some time are finally coming to fruition. I have so much stuff from Dollar Tree it's not even funny, it's a little crazy actually, but this is my first project in my newly organized craft room and I have to admit it was a little strange.

So the best thing about this quarantine is that I'm finally starting to do all these projects I've been planning for so long. I love how this little project turned out. It's a versatile piece and I can't.

look

at

what

we're going to need for this project today. These companies come from the Dollar Tree and we are going to need two of these.

I chose to make the 5 by 7 size, but you can choose any. size you want because there are tons of brains at the Dollar Tree, but I really liked this because it had kind of a wood grain effect and I think it will

look

great for what I have planned, so I'm going to need two of these

boards

cut from plastic pallets, now this didn't come from Dollar Tree, it actually came from Hobby Lobby, but you can use any type of wrapping paper or any type of pattern you want or you can even go online. and I printed out a Buffalo plaid pattern from the Internet, but I used a piece of scrapbook paper and I think they cost like 24 cents or something ridiculously cheap, so I'm going to move that piece of paper to the side and Go ahead and remove the paper from our

cutting

board.

I'm going to go ahead and remove the paper from my frame and like I said, you're going to need two of the pallets and you're also going to need two of your pallets. Okay, so let's remove our backing board here now. I'm not going to use the backing board today but of course I'll save it because I may find something else I want to do with it and I'm not going to use the glass either, but of course I also say that. Now I'm going to leave my little treat out because I'm going to put my thumb in this place instead of my glass, so I'm just going to leave it. with the tips out, I went ahead and cut my phone cable to the size of the back of my frame here and just used an Exacto knife to cut this.
Now the next fun piece we cut is about 8 and 3/4. by 4 and 1/4 and this is what we're going to put aside because we're not going to use it yet, but while I was

cutting

the phone cord I went ahead and cut both pieces so I could put those tools away. So I'm going to lay down some newspaper and I'm going to take my Rust-oleum chalk paint in the color linen white and I'm going to give a good coat of chalk paint to both sides of my cutting board and also to my frame, it's okay, so while our pieces are drying, I'm going to go ahead and start cutting out my scrapbook paper.
Now I'm going to use my backing board as a template for the frame, but for the backing board of our little cutout. board here. I just held up my paper and you can see it has a little slit here on the side and this is what we're going to put here is where we're going to put the scrapbook paper, it's inside this. little recessed area here, so I just looked at it and cut it down and made a piece that fits right in the center here, so I'm going to cut two of those pieces and then I'm going to use my backing board and I'll be honest, I had to rebuild the other side and I had to put it together like a Frankenstein, but I'm not worried because it's not really that important, it's not enough to ruin two pieces. scrapbook paper so I ended up taking out four pieces of that scrapbook paper and that's exactly what I need so when I stick this on my foam board I'll have a gap that doesn't go all the way to the edge but like I said Honestly, I'm not even worried about that at all, so now that we have all our pieces made, let's go ahead and assemble these.
I'm just going to take a little bit of my Mod Podge now when I put them together. Make sure the lines on your Buffalo check run the same way, that way you won't have anything ruined. I'm just centering this here the best I can, it looks pretty sorry, okay, just to make sure it's really sealed. well, I'm going to apply Mod Podge on top with a light coat. Okay, now we're going to set this aside and let it dry, so once it's totally dry, I'm going to apply Mod Podge the same way as our piece. I'm going to go right in the center of here, okay, okay, I've got my six thousand ready, but before I start gluing, I'm going to put my little thumb on my frame, I'm going to stick it in and I'm going to fold our tabs down and now I'm ready to put everything together now.
I'll go if I go back and put a coat of chalk paint on the back here because I want this to look perfect, so I forgot to mention at the beginning that we're also going to need a wall of doubt I picked up this peg for Michael's, it's a peg half an inch I cut to 10 inches long okay so I think we're ready to start putting it together so this is the piece that we cut earlier this is the piece. that's about 8 and 3/4 by 4 and 1/4 we're going to glue our butt to our foam here I'm going to use a lot of wow all the paint isn't completely dry okay I'll go back and touch it up.
Alright, so I'm going to put some e6000 on the edge of my foam board here and I'm also going to double bond it with a moisture binder hot glue gun. I'm going to put this together on my map here. just so you know it's nice and straight okay now we're going to do the same thing including our other frame it's starting to come together now before we glue the sides together I'm going to hold this up just to make sure it doesn't go anywhere okay. so now I want to make sure my measurements are correct and I'm going to glue my frames to the inside of my board.
You can choose to glue them on the outside all the way to the edge if you want, but I played around. I turned it around and I liked how it looked when it was embedded in this part, so that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to do the same, get a double glue with my e6000 and also my hot glue I think. It's going to be easier to do it like this now because I forgot to put some hot glue on the bottom. I'm going to go back in and reinforce the inside of my box here, right here, I'm going to reinforce with some hot glue, okay?
Now let's put in our last piece and y'all, this project is almost done. I can't believe how quickly it came together. Well, now you can leave your box like this, but I want to be able to pick it up because I. I have a couple of ideas I want to use this for and I want the idea of turning it into a box, so I have this peg that I picked up for Michael. It's a half inch dowel and I cut it to ten inches. long and if my measurements are correct this should slide right here.
I'm going to put on some hot glue to secure this and the only thing left to do is put on some chalk paint. on this handle and also on the inside of my frame here, okay, give me just a minute to go back and put that final coat of paint on it and I'll come back to show you what it looks like, okay, so this is the first look. that I have with our box and I just had this on the shelf in my laundry room and I think it's really cute. I just put some lambs in here and you can use your Liam Sarah at Walmart or Michaels or any of the other hobby stores, option number two is to use it as a bathroom organizer.
All of your appliance cables are simply stored nice and neat inside the box and you can easily see which one you want to grab. This is a great option for the next one. The option is to use it as a cutlery cart for your next picnic. Not all I did was put a Dollar Tree jar in the bottom and stick my cutlery and napkins inside. It is also a great caddy for kitchen utensils. I am so in love with this box, it is so versatile that you can use it in practically any room in the house, so whether you choose to make it pretty or functional or pretty and functional, you can't go wrong.
I think I'm going to want one for every room in the house, so that's enough for today's video. If you enjoyed this video, be sure to give it a thumbs up because it would mean a lot to me and until next time, happy DIY and everyone.
