You don't want to miss out on this product, so let's not waste any more time. Let me leave my Gabon. Let's jump into it and let me show you what it does. I have in mind for today's DIY to use a bath towel that requires no sewing. You're going to love it, so be patient with this DIY because I promise you it's worth today's work. I will use this bath towel as pillars. a 27-by-50-inch towel, this size works best. This is one I already had on hand because this bag will be for Allison. Now these towels are the best ones to use and they actually have this decorative crest on them.

I guess you are in them. You will take and cut along this top edge with scissors. You want to leave the decorative border on the towel. We're just going to cut this strip and we're going to do it on both ends of the towel so that you can We'll have two pieces like this left that we're now going to fold in half using a little bit of this heat and join together. This is a hem sticker. This pack is amazing because it is a value pack and comes with three different sizes. Or are they two or three different sizes, which is great because you'll need both sizes unless you want to cut now following this top edge?
This is actually the top seam of the towel. I'm going to put up a strip of this. hem adhesive I guess that's what I'll keep calling it the entire length of the towel. The iron I will be using today is this fast steam iron. This is a compact mini iron that I found at Walmart in the fabric section. and I want to say I paid $10 for it, it's really great for crafts because of how small it is and I've loved it. I'm going to go ahead and fold the towel over the hem sticker and I'm going to press it using my cool steam now if you want to use the steam on the iron that's fine it's just going to heat it up a little bit more and in this case I would definitely suggest doing that because the towel It's on the thicker side, so you really want that heat to go through the towel and melt the adhesive so the pieces stick.
You will do this with both strips of towel that you will cut from the top and the bottom of the towel and just to show you that you can really

look

here at how well the hem adhesive works and this is what you should keep, these two strips here, now taking this matching pink fabric. This is one I had in my stash that I had decorated Ali's room with previously. Combine. perfectly with the pink towel I'm going to take a piece and it's going to be a little bit longer and a little bit bigger than the towel strips that we just cut because we're going to cover these towel strips with this fabric and to do that I'm going to take and simply fold the fabric in half with the right sides facing each other.
I'm going to place my towel strip on top using it as a template. There is no need to be perfect when you do this. You need to measure, you don't need the cuts to be perfect, but when you cut it you should leave about an inch of fabric on each end and then you should cut about three quarters of an inch or the width of the ribbon away from the towel which in my case is just half an inch away from my towel, so we're going to go ahead and him this piece as well and again, if it wasn't clear to me, you want to make two of these because we're going to cover both strips of towel that are going to be straps, so you're going to want to place the fabric hem sticker on the right side of the fabric at the edge, then you will go ahead and fold the fabric over them and Iron over it and it will give you a nice, clean hem.
I'm going to

turn

these right side in and here it's as easy as that. We made a sleeve for those towel strips, it's not that easy and actually only took a few minutes. What to do Once you have the sleeve right side out, you will see the hem or seam line that you want in the middle, you don't want it to be one way or the other, so I'm going to Go ahead, I'm going to go over this with the iron again just to keep things really neat and in place for the next step, running the towel through the sleeve.
I'm going to use a larger safety pin by just putting it on the end of my towel and putting it inside the sleeve makes it much easier to pull the towel through the sleeve, so I'm going to do that with both pieces of towel and like I said, This is a sleeve that covers the towel. It's really meant to give this handle some substance to make it a little bit thicker and sturdier, I guess so to speak, the fabric is just to decorate it and cover the fact, I guess it's a towel that we're using. and again you'll want to go over them again with your iron to smooth everything out and

look

we just covered those towel strips with this adorable fabric and look how pretty it looks on the ends.
I want to give these straps a finished look and to do that I will use the smaller hem adhesive. I'm going to place a piece between the two fabrics and one here on top and then I'm just going to fold it and iron it now you'll see that the good side of my strap is facing up and the place that has the hem in the middle is facing down, You should make sure and do it this way because I promise you it will be that way. In the end it will give you a better result, you will not see the seams or the hem that we are doing on each of the ends of this strap and you will want to do this on all four ends now taking an embroidery.
Needle and some embroidery thread. I'm using white. This step is completely optional. You can skip it completely or you can use your sewing machine if you want. I thought it would be fun to add a little bit of this thicker thread and give it that seam. Look, this is nothing special, it's just a loose stitch and it's going to take me maybe 10 or 15 minutes to do both strips and I'm just going to do the outside edges of both strips. Look how funny, it's not perfect. It's not necessary now, I'm going to take and just run another stitch along this side as well and I'm going to do that with both strips, whatever I call them.
I keep switching and moving on to the towel on this Top Decorative Border here, we're going to fold this over and just fold it in half. I guess if you do, pick up the iron again. This is a very repetitive project. I'm going to iron this just to help keep this crease down. because once you have it ironed on both ends, we'll do this on both decorative edges. I'm going to take the hem adhesive and I'm going to put it in between, sandwiching it in there and I'm going to iron this on. To give me a nice clean edge for the next step, I'm going to use more of that matching pink fabric and you're going to need a piece that measures 13 wide by 22 inches long and I'm going to use the thinnest hem adhesive that I'm going to fold. the fabric in half the length and that way it measures 13 wide by 11 long and I am going to pass two of the sides and I am going to leave the top open.
I'm going to

turn

it right side up now I'll tell you. This will be a pocket, but the fabric itself will not be the pocket where we will use both sides of the fabric. I'm making this pocket two layers thick, and to make it, I wanted to hem it. Like I did here, once I have the sides of the hem together, I'll go ahead and clean up the bottom edge and close it by simply folding the top edges, ironing it, and putting just a little bit of that hem adhesive along the length. there to close this, now all that's left to do is put this together, so now that we have the towel here, you're going to want to fold the towel in half so that the hem at the top is on the inside of the bag. once it's folded in half, we'll go ahead and place this pink pocket in the center of the towel.
Now remember, like I said, the towel is folded in half, I'll just look at it and for the pocket I'll use. the thicker hem adhesive and I'm just going to fold it on three sides leaving the top open and look, we have a pocket and it's thicker. Use double layers of fabric instead of just one layer. Now I wanted to add an image. This is how I have it with all the other benches, so to do that I'm going to use this fusible cotton fabric. These are sheets that you can print on. I went ahead and printed with my inkjet printer on them.
I cut it out. I decided to just leave a little bit of a border and it really is as easy as after you print it and cut it to the right size you just run the iron over it and it sticks to whatever surface you are applying it to these fusible fabric sheets you can find it at Hobby Lobby Joanne's Michaels and they're probably about twenty dollars for ten sheets, but you can use a forty or fifty percent off coupon and a lot of times when I see there's a 60% off coupon, that's just a couple. times a year I'll use it for that, so I'm only spending like seven dollars for ten sheets.
I decided to go ahead and take it a step further and add some embroidery floss to the pocket as well for something like that. Tie it with the straps you had made. Now don't fold the towel in half for this part because you don't want to sew the two halves together, so when you do this you want to make sure that your towel is open and I'm just going to run this embroidery thread through three sides. I found that the easiest way to add the straps is to fold the towel in half and then just take this top part and fold it down and then take the strap on the good side. is on top, we'll turn it over and then we'll just place our straps where we want them to be spaced, however much you want to space them.
I'm going to use hot glue for this. I'm using a guerrilla. hot glue will adhere perfectly to the towel the fabric two towels will not come off and if you wash this I would just wash it in cold water and hang it to dry you don't want to dry it anyway if there is a picture there you just want to let it hang to dry, so again I'm just going to use hot glue and place each of the spaced ends where I want them to be. Now I'll leave the towel as it is. This way I can easily attach the second set of straps here on the other side without having to measure by just looking at it and lining it up with the existing strap that I just attached.
I'm going to close the sides of this. bag and to do that I'm going to fold the bag inwards and I'm going to line up the sides of the towel evenly and using my thicker hemming adhesive, I'm going to place it along both sides of the towel and just iron and close those sides now again. This is one of those DIYs that you can do by sewing. I've used my sewing machine on other occasions besides this one and honestly, this is only the second towel I've made using this one. hem adhesive and the first one was just a test to see how easy it would be if it could be done if you held it together well and because it did that's why I guess I'll bring you this DIY and definitely if you want to sew it you can do it and will work just as well but this hem sticker is amazing for those who don't have a sewing machine or don't like to sew and like those no sew projects this is one you can make. definitely do it and the result is amazing so when you go over the sides you really want to make sure and use the steam because the towel is thicker and you really want the heat to go into the towels to melt the adhesive because that's what's really going to keep everything nice attached now let's turn our bag inside out and you're about to see how stinky and cute it is this is simply the coolest stinky bag ever they really are easy to make and if you just follow the instructions in this tutorial you will be amazed at how easy which is doing it and it really can take a little time, but we all have nothing but time on our hands.
I mean, we're stuck at home with nothing to do, so let's do some. cool projects and I'm sure you have a towel somewherewith which you can experiment. I like to finish this bag by giving it a more finished look around the inside edge, so to do that I'm going to just take more of the matching fabric I'm going to cut it about an inch and a half to two inches, fold it in half and just I'm going to iron it, I'm going to use the hem adhesive to make it look really neat and I'm just going to hot glue it around the Inside Edge here I'm using hot glue because I feel like it's just a lot of thick layers to use that hem adhesive and as long as Don't be drying this towel, which you can't do if you put a picture on it anyway. it will hold up well and kind of a trick of the trade is that if a piece seems to be coming out from where the hot glue was, if you just run the iron over it, the hot glue will melt again and I guess stick it to whatever, but with these towels you don't really have to worry about it, it's been a couple of months since I made it and since it was quarantine time I thought this was a perfect DIY to bring you because many of us probably already have a towel in our stash and, If you don't have it on one of your grocery shopping trips to Walmart, you can always pick one up along with a pending order, see how pretty and finished it looks now if you want.
To add some velcro on top of this or even some snaps, you can do this before on some of my older bags. I made it with a string that went through the top here and I could pull it and close it. Also added that you can see on the handles that there are those metal snaps that you can sew on and they are always a fun alternative if you want to close it, but this type of bag is one of those bags that I really like to carry when going to the beach or to the pool because it is very easy, it is big, many things fit in it.
I finished it with one of my tags back then, but this was a bag I dedicated to Jeff, myself, and the kids as a family. It was like hugging him being a firefighter, that was a variety of who was I think eight years old when I met Jeff, he's not that sweet and that was the first time he got to play with the fire hose at Jeff's station, such memories wonderful and there we are. This is a very simple to make, fun, easy and stinky bag made from a DIY towel. This is a bag Kayla had when she was about seven and now she is 20 and it holds up perfectly.
These are great bags to make. They are easy and make a great gift to give. How cool is this bag. This bag is a bag that I have to be honest with. I've done it for probably fifteen or sixteen years. I did the first one 16 years ago and I did it. I mean when Jeff and I were dating and it was that firefighter American flag inspired bag that you saw in the pictures and after I made it I decided to make one for each kid and then it was one that I even made four gifts that When we were invited to birthday parties birthday, I felt like this was a really cool handmade gift and I made it incorporating photos of their kids, so beforehand I asked them to send me, you know, three or four of their favorite photos. son or daughter and I would incorporate it in the pockets of the bag is one of those DIYs that is a very versatile DIY because it can be made in your favorite colors and your favorite fabrics, its patterns really are your DIY so be creative with it. and make it yours.
