Living with an AMG G63 - what I loved... and hated!

Hello everyone, Matt Watson here, so I'm in my mercedes amg g63. Now most people have these things just cruising around town to post them, but I like to take this off-road because it's a capable off-roader and has three locking differentials. one front in the middle and one in the rear to give you plenty of traction to overcome obstacles. You also have a low range mode that gives you more pulling power when you need to haul rough terrain that you love. serious hard end so dad for that guy just ruined the effect it's supposed to reveal to me anyway yeah it's not a full size one this is a tamiya replica of the g-wagon this one is going back to mercedes and unfortunately I can't afford this.

Since it costs over 150k, I bought this to replace it in this video. What I'm going to do is tell you

about the g63, so first up is the color combination that I adore. this red is called hyacinth red it's actually an inspired choice. I was originally going to buy a blue one.

I wasn't sure but I took a chance on this and when you see everyone else driving these g wagons whether it's silver white or black those are colors everyone else buys so this just stands out you see with the cream interior , it's like the car is strawberries and cream, berries and cream, berries and creams. I'm a little boy who knows berries and cream. I like how you have 64 different ambient lighting options and you can actually choose to have multiple colors so there are different colors in different zones, the only problem is that I have it set up exactly how I want it so someone he'll borrow the car and then trade it in because no one else seems to like the green interior. with the red exterior, they think it's too Christmassy. I'm taking this car off the road quite frequently for various videos and I really found these special g63 rubber mats useful because they cover the normal ones you have.

They are lovely, so they are all spotless, still, the location of the seat controls is just perfect here on the door, they are very easy to get to, especially when you are driving. I don't know why other manufacturers take them off the seat. you're searching trying to find them, it makes a lot of sense to have them here. I get into other cars and I'm a little lost, that's really how it should be. I love the side exit exhaust. They look really cool and they sound really good too, listen to this, although it has a soft limiter, it doesn't really matter because it's very loud anyway.

The other thing is that the location of the gear selector up here on the steering column is the most sensitive place for it's so here you are in the car that I want to drive so let's go oh no, I'm done now I want to park okay, I'm going to park actually I need to go into reverse now no problem here we go I can go into reverse now I want to go forward again it's simple instead of looking for a lever down here because that's where they have it in a manual car it doesn't need to be where the selector is manual gears if it is automatic driving this thing every day it is clear that it is a luxury vehicle It is absolutely beautiful, but it is also a true off-roader, so it has a low range mode for the gearbox and it has three lockable differentials , one for the front, one for the middle and one for the back.

I actually took this suv and compared it to a jeep wrangler, a tough suv and in fact it was just as capable. You're definitely taller than something like a Range Rover and any Audi or BMW SUV. It really is a great view and the flat windshield too. it means almost no blind spots it's great you can see everything and you can see the top of the body looks really cool you can actually look down on other road users yes i feel suitably superior in my g63 conceit right there , the seats are very, very adjustable, you can alter how much the side bolsters hold you in, the lumbar support and indeed the position in which it affects you.

Look at it so it's very easy to get comfortable and if you like it you have dynamic seats to hug you when you turn the corner to keep you from falling over and then there are the seat base extenders now in some cars you have like a space where they spread out that gets filled with crumbs and things like that when you're eating things you shouldn't do in your car, not this one, although it's all built into the seat so you don't have that problem at all, it's much better. I think Mercedes makes some of the best digital dials really clear and easy to use, you can choose between different layouts so obviously I have it in sport, you can go for a classic style with two darts, that bothers me, then there is one which is called progressive and then you can alter what's there between navigation and things like that, but I like to say the performance stuff so that you have the boost from your turbochargers and your horsepower and your new meters of torque that the engine is developing at any time.

I can also set up that screen and you know what I'm going for? For more performance information, it also has a boost meter, so there's one for every eye. It matters that the Burmester sound system installed in this car is absolutely brilliant, it works very well with the huge interior space of this card, it is like a kind of concert hall. I'm going to miss that sound system when this car comes back. Don't miss it all. You can press a button and go into manual mode and then change gears yourself seems a little more strange g63 but I can do it if I want. Some people have complained about the fact that they get their pants dirty when they go outside, but that's because they aren't using the running balls. I've noticed that this g63 gets quite a bit of hate from other road users probably has something to do with the fact that it's that type of vehicle and it's even worse because this one is bright red so it's so shameless about itself that It's like a big eco friendly postman van, one will let you out at junctions if there is a gap in the traffic, people try to overtake you if there is a narrow road, they will try to whisper the gap.

In front of you everyone seems to mock and if you dare to try to overtake someone in this they are very surprised, especially if there is a car in the distance on the other side of the road, now it can be completely safe to overtake and it's like I just can't understand how fast this car is, then it's able to overtake other vehicles and they'll be on their lights like: what are you doing? How dare you try to overtake on that thing? It's a very British thing to flash someone. to overtake because really if you feel unsafe because there is a car on the wrong side of the road overtaking another person and coming towards you you shouldn't turn on your lights you should apply the brakes instead of going no I'd rather die and tell you, let you know what I think of as my last action on this planet yes I'm British and we're stupid every time you take someone and they go out they never seem to manage to close the door properly because you're not used to having to close such heavy doors you always end up having to reach them and close them correctly yourself.

It gets on your nerves. I have a Samsung Galaxy, so I use Android Auto in this car all the time. The only annoying thing is that you can't use the full screen. Can you see that this part is blank? If I had an Apple phone, you get a full widescreen display. Why are Android users second class citizens, as you imagine? A big car like this isn't exactly the best in the corners, it's much better now than the old G63. I actually did a slalom test between this one and the old one, they were miles apart, it's a little loose and the traction control and stability Very soon, to save your neck, something like a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, what a monster , one of these things in the corners, but it works well considering how big, heavy and off-road it is, not bad, but otherwise you can't get carried away.

You're going to end up in trouble when I first bought this g. It had larger wheels that had a nicer design and are also black. I think there were 21 or maybe even 22, though, because I wanted to film something. On road I needed to downsize to these 20's because I couldn't get off road tires the size of the stock wheels, they don't look as good and what's even more annoying is that because they are smaller I actually can't. Put the wheel cover on the back of the car so it looks like this, a bit cheap really for such an expensive car.

I missed the old wheel cover. Well this is an absolutely huge vehicle, it has a lot of headroom. I found a Few people complain that there is not enough knee room in the back to be fair they were very lanky with legs that are too long but I see their point you know the leg room for me is fine but not It's huge considering how huge the car actually is. The heated seats in this car are super hot, which I love. The only problem is that the car automatically lowers the seat steadily over time. Why can't you just put it on the heat you want?

I mean, I don't care if it's so hot that it cleans my sperm, that's my choice. You can't use the steering to turn your back so what you have to do is use the brakes on the inside wheels and that produces a strange effect where you are pulled backwards while braking and actually steers the car breaking the internal wheels. wheels and feels a little strange and unsettling and less natural and smoother than more modern systems that use steering. The windshield on this jeep is quite vertical compared to other cars and that means it doesn't deflect stone chips as well. I actually already broke this windshield and then it had a big crack and I had to replace it.

It's a bit annoying that there is no control for the massage seats here, with the rest of the seat functions, you have to do it through the screen. which really gets on your nerves if you're running Android Auto at the same time because then you have to go home. I would also have it in this exact color combination, oh well don't have enough money for one, unfortunate though. Still I have my own little g. I don't have my toy? I just have to make do with that.
