SUV, let's talk about what's going on here. Genesis, there once was a model in Hyundai's lineup. What they decided to do, like many other brands, is create. that premium brand so

became their own brand and you know what it's taking some time but they're really working hard and they're developing a line of vehicles that are really there to challenge the established german euro and all other way

, this is the first genesis SUV, they will also launch other variants. to match and fit into their entire sedan lineup, so let's move on, let's find out if this new gv80 is this the suv, that luxury suv that you should buy, it's the

best

in the market in terms of price style and all the trimmings in the interior let's go ahead and find out right away that this color is perfect if you've been watching Ratey rides when we were at the Chicago auto show earlier this year we did this color, it's called Cardiff green, my favorite. color for this particular vehicle, when we start our front, you can see the unique style that they have done with the design of the headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED headlights and I really think it was very smart to have these two headlight housings separated like this and bring them. that beautiful body works with that bright color as we go down, nothing fake, we have functionality so you will have a functional side air curtain, look at all the design elements that have been carried right to this bottom corner, let alone the headlights, but also in the lower corner, some chrome trim and then as we move in front of that grille, I get such a strong Bentley Bentega vibe and it's nice that it feels good.

Huge grill size, but you know what works. I like it. It has a nice curved finish that then goes straight into the rest of the front fascia. You will have the camera facing forward. I love the crisscross design and I'm not normally a big chrome person, but definitely with this. The Cardiff Green color fits to a T and I think one of the smart things was to go in gloss black on the lower section, you do get a little bit of lip extension on the front fascia, but other than that very, very unique styling that makes it unites itself. the bentley bentayga, but remember imitation is the highest form of flattery, but very very euro, looking from the front now when we go up on the hood you have that genesis brand there.

I know a lot of people compare this to the aston martin, the bentley flagship, but you know, it looks really cool, super clean with the silver and brushed aluminum finish, and look how they make this indentation that then flows nicely into the hood. . With class and style. Last year there weren't many vehicles sold since Genesis, about 29,000 vehicles, but we're hoping to change that and I really think this is going to be a home run, especially for someone looking for that mid-size SUV look. Now, as we come around the bend, look at how the chrome trim folds in nicely. in the corner, I like the way they put this nice slit in the body here for the fender, look at the shine, it's like an absolutely sexy emerald now when you get

I love the design of this wheel. It's a 22 inch 255 wheel on the 40 series wide sidewalls, huge calipers with the genesis logo on there, we have fully vented rotors, of course you'll have tuned suspension, you can adjust it as you go down the road, even in the way that Folding the headlight housings nicely around the fender looks really clean, really 21st century and while the wheel overall doesn't have many intricate parts, all this little ornamental work they put into each spoke really elevates level. And look at that beautiful center cap, absolutely tasteful, but the 22-inch wheel on the Prestige and we have all-wheel drive, which will really make things fun now that we get into the fender treatment, no fake vents, we take a beautiful and elegant design. a little chrome and then you will have very unique LED side marker lights.

If you look at the genesis g90, which is their full-size sedan, the upcoming g80, and then the redesigned g70 for 2022, we're seeing a lot of that design carryover. like the nice step level where the hard line is on the fender compared to the hood and then as we go down the side of course the color match on the mirror caps, a little bit of gloss black, nothing too crazy. it has cameras around its gv80 shiny metal brilliant work when it comes to the top and bottom of the window frames, it has the brushed aluminum roof rails on top, nice and close to the body, some chrome and then I'm looking into the chrome that's on the bottom of the door I think is enough to balance everything out and the green really cuts it through perfectly now as we continue towards the back you have some gloss black but that helps give the illusion of everything a piece of glass, I like the way they take that shiny metal work and give it a nice point and a great looking roofline.

The proportions of this gv80 are perfect, even the way I'm going to have it. Lori steps down and shows off how it widens, that rear fender gives it a great look and she watches how the finger-like taillights wrap around nicely. You will have full LED taillights. I like the low roof spoiler. I don't like that it's going to ruin this rear wiper, it should definitely be hidden underneath, just give it a clean look, but you have your third brake light super thin and cut out on top. I love the Genesis brand name. very stylish gv80 we move down we get some chrome and guess what unlike some of the other brands where they put fake exhaust outlets we have functional decorative trip tips with the exhaust behind even the way they put this one in nice design with the genesis logo all over it to protect the rear bumper area when your kids get their gear out of the back and then of course like I said all wheel drive with that 3.5 liter twin turbo engine but why why don't we go?

Go ahead, let's open the hood and see the heart of the GV80. Alright guys, we've opened the hood. I hope you like the power because we have some power. We also have hydraulic struts on the hood. Now there's a lot of dark black plastic under the hood, but. the good news is the tasteful engine cover, you could see the reinforcement they put on the front of the business to stiffen the front end, but guess what the good news is, you're looking at a 3.5 liter twin turbo V6 for which is equivalent to 375 horsepower 391 pound-feet of torque it is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission 0-60 will happen in 5.4 seconds you could tow up to 6,000 pounds with this genesis gv80 mpg 18 in the city 23 inches the highway and the vehicle weighs 5038 pounds so the good news is that with the genesis gv80 you have two engine options, this is definitely the one I would choose, but as we move on let's go to that interior and see what great luxury.

. We're going to the big league, so one has an MSRP of around 72,600, let's see what you get for the money. We have our rotary knob control for our eight-speed automatic transmission. We also have different driving modes which is great and it's very simple, just one turn and me. I want to show you guys good business time and tell you that it is truly a wonderful experience behind the wheel of this GV80. I like the silver aluminum trim. I'm going to knock it, though the reason is that I wish the Genesis name would light up all the LEDs really nicely. Competitors see that it is easy to access the controls, like I said, you have that massage option, turn it on, that's it, you won't have to pay more to get a massage, you can do it right on your Genesis GV80, so think about that, when I think on the cost, I have plenty of headroom, I feel fantastic, this is one of those SUVs where you feel fantastic behind the wheel, I'm not 100 sold and it's not even the two tone, the two tone.

I'm fine with it just being the middle part now. I'm going to do a half-hearted zonk, but I think it's growing on me, so check back with Rady's Rides. You need to check your seat controls. this with heated seats, what are these ventilated seats on this genesis gv80, take that audi, take that bmw, take that mercedes benz, raise it up, you have two usbs and a home power source, lower it back, the seats feel Fantastic, of course you have the security curtains to keep peeping toms and peepers away. I have plenty of headroom, including my vanity mirror. I want to look at myself sporting nice vanity mirrors for both passengers back here and then if you're wondering, well, Joe, can you move the seats? um, yeah, they.

It's electric so you can recline it, you can slide it forward or backward which is cool and it's all electric assist and then wait there's more, throw this bad boy down it's a little difficult but look what we've got here, we slide it open, you have your two. The cup holders feel good and then you can just push them back but let's get to that cargo area because I can't wait to drive this GV80 okay guys it's time to get into the back of the Genesis GV80. I'm going to press the hatch open right there, of course, you have power assist.

A great opening. I like the low level floor. The way they bring in some of that nice aluminum finish makes it look classy. It makes it look tasteful. And then when we look at the rear cargo area you're probably wondering, well, Joe, what are some numbers on this? You're looking at 33.9 cubic feet of space with the seats up, fold the seats down and then you're looking at 84 cubic feet of space, now this is just a single back row, there's no third row, which I like because a lot of times, When you put a third row in an SUV this size, it's so narrow that only a Smurf will be able to fit in there, but here's the cool thing. news, you have a 12 volt, which is a nice touch, so when you go to the beach when you go, maybe tailgating or whatever, you can plug something into the 12 volt and then put the seats down.

Very simple look. Because of how nice they put a silver finish on it, you're just going to push and it's going to fold really well, super soft, it's a little slow. I'll be honest, so I'm going to calculate the actual speed of the seat going down. but it goes down nice and flat, we'll put the other side just to show that everything goes down very, very well just on the slower side and I know you're probably wondering, well, Joe, how do we get these seats? go back to raise the seats back up, you actually just press the button again, so it's the same button and I'm not going to sit here and bore you waiting for that seat to go back up, but I like the nice, fancy rug you make. get a nice cargo ship here and I'll go ahead and pick this up to show that you've got your security screen, then you can stash some twinkies and some snacks under there for a nice, fancy trip, but talk about a trip and talk about some kind , if you're ready, I'm definitely ready, let's go to class and take this gv80 for a spin, okay guys, we're on the genesis gv80, I'm about to leave Crown Genesis, here's your keychain, I forgot.

To show you this before, it has that parking assist feature to move the vehicle in and out of its parking spot, which is really cool, there's the front, but it's a very tasteful keychain. I love the materials that activated navigation while we are. sitting here let me put it in reverse real quick so you can see your backup camera, you've got your 360 and everything and then we're going to go back to driving for the forward facing camera, but the dash design, that 3D effect is cool to see, uh I'm telling you it's little details like that that make this whole gv80 experience so unique compared to anything else out there and as we walk away really smooth really quiet they do a great job with the damping here sound.

They do a great job with the thickness of the glass and the design here is simply out of this world. Let me go ahead and slow down real quick. Alright guys, I have it in sport mode. I want to move forward and accelerate. test from a standstill, so give me a little bit of acceleration on the throttle really very nice and smooth shifts from the eight-speed automatic. I also like the way the sound of the twin-turbo V6 sounds which has excellent tone and just where it is not unpleasant, it is not. I'm going to drive you crazy, that infotainment system, like I said, is one of my favorite things in this vehicle, even the beautiful rotary dial for the transmission, that rotary dial, very, very tasteful, I was able to access the ventilated seats , turn them on and, like I said, in the middle of the row. ventilated seats for the rear passengers, but even traveling in traffic, where there is a lot of traffic at the moment, is a really comfortable experience.

I have the massage seats in the design and it all makes a lot of sense. the steering wheel, the leather, the leather material used here on the entire dashboard, the door panels, the steering wheel is exactly what you would expect from a vehicle that would cost a lot more than this particular one for sure, the paddles if you want to go up and down all eight speeds. You have that opportunity to do that and then you also have that all-wheel drive that will keep you secured to the asphalt, which is great but super smooth. You've got the huge six-piston calipers that slowed this vehicle down very, very easily.

I also love when you turn on the turn signal and see how it has the cameras on the side so you can see your blind spot areas which makes this vehicle very easy to drive and it definitely doesn't feel big one bit. Let me go ahead and do a U-Turn here, with ease, the throttle goes down and we get going and then we like it, I said the brakes have a great feel, you don't get a lot of great handling even in sport mode, this is definitely set up more for comfort, but that's not a bad thing and it definitely still has good suspension and chassis work, so if you want to take it down a twisty road, maybe you're not going to corner like a turkey day Thanksgiving, but you can enjoy and have a wonderful holiday. experience and I just wish I wasn't stuck in St.

P traffic where I could show this vehicle off a little more, but it definitely has so much great technology. I love the way the gauges show you the car in front of you. from you very, very good, super smooth and super quiet. I think one of my favorite things is the infotainment system, for sure, which really elevates the whole experience here and also by having all those safety features, it really allows you to stay safe while you're out there. I'm driving and I definitely make it alive, but those lane change cameras, more vehicles need those looks, when I go right, it shows my speed, it shows the attack, whichever side you're using, it still shows that information and then it has that visual screen which is just great and then of course here you have your different control device.

It's a bit cumbersome. I'd prefer to just tap the screen, but once you get the hang of it, it's not bad at all to cycle through the different modes to select what you need. be climate controls, whether you want to go into silent mode, it's a wonderful experience here and I hope to do this vehicle justice, it's a little difficult, like I said, with the amount of traffic and everything that we have, but man. This is truly a great SUV, especially since this is Genesis' first attempt at making a luxury SUV and they've knocked it out of the park, but we're going to move on, go back to Crown Genesis and finish this. one up, so I'll see you in a split second.
