May 30, 2021
Guys, welcome back, it's Racer X's car and we've owned the car for about a year and a half and I've actually learned quite a bit about it through ownership and just dealing with some friends and you just learn about these.

things

, so I want to share my

know

ledge with you, give you the good and the bad of

this

car. Things to

one, so it should be fun too guys if you are new to the channel. make sure you hit these subscribe buttons here in the corner, hit like and that's it, now I realize that I have a lot of scat package owners already following my channel, but there are also a lot of people.

Out there who just want to know more about

this

, maybe our tea owners or even v6 owners, possibly even some Hellcat guys who want to give up and there are also many people who own other brands, whether imported or American. a Mustang or come here, whatever it is, you know, the scat package on both the charger and the Challenger are fantastic packages, so I just want to spread a little knowledge about some of the

things

I've learned on this car. because it's a pretty unique machine so the first thing I want to talk about when it comes to the poop pack is the fact that you can pick up one of these if you don't go crazy with the options it has for about the same price as a r/t with lots of options so if you're really performance based you're a performance enthusiast that's all you care about, you don't care about all the bells and whistles but you do want that bigger 6.4. one liter naturally aspirated engine.

I think these things can be had for around 30 if you go and get a deal at your local dealership or find someone selling with low miles, that's even better but essentially like I said for the same amount as you can. buy a dart with good option you can buy a somewhat optional scat package and get extra performance and we're talking about a pretty big performance increase from the r/t when you jump into this and a lot of that is in the way it drives so which I want to tell you about that, so when we talk about this scat package, you know a lot of what this car is: it's about the driving experience, so one of the big hits is obviously scat as a whole and the package scat It's certainly no different is that they are heavy cars and you know what's true about this car legitimately weighing 600 pounds more than the other cars it competes against, really in the Mustang and the Camaro and then actually almost everything.

Other than that, yes, the car. It's heavier, it's bigger, it doesn't matter if you're talking about the Charger or the Challenger, we're talking about both platforms. You know the car is big and you can feel a little bit the way it drives, but I will say this, the scat pack has that 6.4-liter Hemi and it makes a lot of power, its 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. and when you're driving around in this thing and I drive it in track mode all the time. It's really fun to drive. I've been practicing it a bit and the way this thing pushes the car I'm still impressed with it and keep in mind, it doesn't drive as obviously as a V6.

SXT doesn't drive the same as an r/t even though they are both naturally aspirated v8s, the power, the low end power of the 6-4 is significantly higher than in the r/t and you can feel it. by the seat of your pants so when you drive the car on the street it's really fun to drive and I'm someone a lot of you know. I have a Hellcat that makes a thousand horsepower, but at the top end. I'm not saying just go all out, but as an initial tip, this car is a lot of fun to drive because it really gets going, you know, the car doesn't feel heavy from a gas pedal perspective in terms of the shape. in what drives this car and is more substantial and I've driven all the cars, the Mustangs, the Camaros and almost all the European sedans, all that kind of stuff when you talk about something that's fun to drive on the street.
In terms of that initial low to mid range tip, this thing has a lot of power and I love that, so there are some limitations and some problems that come with all that kind of low end power in that torque, obviously, this model in particular. it's a 2019 shaker that comes with 245 r SI also in the back which to me and I've said this many times guys seems like a really stupid thing because this will absolutely fry the tires at speed, I mean the thing just fry tires and this thing should have come with the 305's that you should normally see on wide bodies.
I mean this car has 305 on the back of the RT. I think you can get by with both 45s, but 305. It should be standard in all stat packs and Hellcats and that's what dodging should be like. I shouldn't have put two 45's in this car because it's almost dangerous if you don't know how to drive the vehicle. How about a quick demo? Yes, obviously. Another thing to consider if you're like a Mustang or a Camaro, a lot of those cars come with a 10-speed automatic now, obviously this particular one, eight-speed, similar to what you get in a Hellcat, not as beefed up, but the The 8 speed transmission is still really good and offers a really nice driving experience and unlike the Hellcat this one can obviously get the standard 309.
I think it's now an option on the Hellcat but it wasn't used. be, but the 309 gears in this car really worked well. I'm a big fan of the 309s in the scat package. Certainly another element, a note on the scat package and it pretty much goes with a lot of the DAAD stuff. It's just that you know, for a pony car, a muscle car or however you want to classify it, these are because they are bigger, they are really comfortable cars to drive. I have to admit, whether it's the scat pack, the r/t or the sxd, even a Hellcat, you know if you come from another brand you're going to find it and you don't know there's something wrong with a Mustang or a Camaro or an Audi or whatever. be it, but these cars are comfortable or ride in them, they have big plush seats and they are just a really nice car to sit in and enjoy a cruise and that's the best thing about these cars: they make a lot of power, but you can really enjoy long trips and these no problems are pretty cool. place to sit, so I want to talk to you about a couple more things, like I said, not everything is good or positive.
I will say that if you like a really soft and supple ride, certainly the scat pack isn't necessarily for you in this particular. one doesn't come with the dynamic or adjustable suspension so it's just a suspension setup and it's a little stiff, not terrible. I certainly think it's fine, but you might even be able to see my camera shaking a little. I'm going pretty slow when I drove the SXT version, which was really soft and supple compared to this thing, but then again, we're talking about a car with a lot more power, along with other items, a note if you're looking for something.
With absolutely fantastic gas mileage, I wouldn't recommend the scat pack for two reasons, I mean you'll get good gas mileage if you really try, yeah I think you can get a pretty decent amount of gas mileage out of this car. I really believe it. I mean, if you're on the highway, you're barely hitting the gas, you can get decent smoothness, you could get decent mileage with a Hellcat if you do that too, but I will say I drive this in track mode because I enjoy it. I like that power. Low End I like the responsiveness of this big 6.4 liter naturally aspirated Hemi and at the end of the day I didn't buy this because of the fuel economy.
I bought it for its power and fun. It's something great for the lady. ex to drive and race and it's just a great all-around package and you know if you're looking for something, it's really hard to keep your foot out of it guys and that's the most realistic thing if you know. I'm looking to take care of the car while I get a pack of poop first, that's how I see it guys. I mean, you don't have to run around like your hair is on fire everywhere, but at the end of Today, guys, if you're going to enjoy the car the way it's probably designed to be enjoyed, you're probably not going to get the best gas mileage so that's definitely something to consider, I will also say that from an insurance perspective the scat packages are really not the cheapest in insurance, it's almost as much as the Hellcat, it really is when you compare them , although the Hellcat makes much more horsepower.
Do you see a pretty good jump from the r/t to the scat pack? I don't really see a big jump, at least for me, from the Hellcat to the Scat Pack, so there's something to consider when it comes to the cost of insurance: you might pay a little more if you're jumping from a six-cylinder or an RT, keep this in mind, another quick item, one note when you talk about the exhaust note on the scat package, although when you compare it to the RT, although obviously both are naturally aspirated v8 cars, it's a little more robust sound coming out of the rear of this car than on the RT, not to say that the RT doesn't sound good, it's still a really nice and healthy v8 sound, but the scat pack has a little more quickness and really sounds good even in its original format , not that we're going to leave it at that, it's just because that's pretty much what I do, but at the end of the day, this is a little bit more robust sounding than some of the other trim levels obviously excluding, you know, the Hellcat, the demon, that kind of thing, okay, so next up guys, oil changes, I want to mention it pretty quickly, obviously, these things require a good amount of oil, it requires Oh W forty at least, that's it. what it requires from Dodge and if you go to your local dealership or a local place to get a full synthetic oil change done in one of these cars you should expect to spend between ninety and one hundred dollars unless you've come to some sort of crazy deal with someone that's about what it cost.
In fact, I recently had the oil changed in this car at my local dealership, in fact, where I did a video not too long ago and that's what they charge like ninety. nine eighty five or something like that so oil changes on this car guys they ain't cheap something else to consider when it comes to these six fours and you guys have probably heard me say this many times before but they come quite a bit optimized. From the factory, yes, they are very powerful. 485 horsepower from a factory naturally aspirated car is pretty robust now, when you talk about modifying them you'll get some horsepower depending on what you've done.
I've done a lot of videos on Modifying this car, but the gains are incremental and relatively small compared to some of the competitors like a Mustang or a Camaro, and it's not cheap to do, guys, if you're looking to go crazy with modifications, maybe the scat package may not be the best. The right package for you, I don't want to say you can't supercharge one or turbo and put a cam in it, but keep in mind that even a cam on these Hemis you have to open the engine, it's not like an LS car where you can just slide on. the camera on the heads has to come off, it's a pretty invasive situation when you go to the camera on one of these and it's not cheap so it's something to consider guys, if you're going to modify just know what you're getting into when it's about The 392, as I mentioned a moment ago, yes you can power a 6.4 liter naturally aspirated Hemi.
The guys make it a boost car, but at the end of the day, if you want to keep it reliable, I recommend keeping the boost low. Here you have to be a little conservative when it comes to boosting these engines, they have no internal strength as you'll see, obviously, like the Hellcat the demon and things like that they have reinforced internal parts, this guy here means yes. will require a gain of more than seven pounds, probably won't do it reliably for a long period of time, at least in my personal opinion on it guys, something to consider too, so a couple more things to talk about , guys, when you go get your car tuned, so yeah, if you do any kind of modification, long tubes or whatever you want to do, like I said, you can put a supercharger or whatever you need to do if you need to tune the car.
Mopar PCMs do not come unlocked. like some of the other manufacturers, which means you will have to send in your PCM to unlock it. You can unlock your stock PCM and I think according to HP tuners it costs about two hundred and fifty dollars to just unlock it. It can be tuned, a lot of people don't realize they're not Mopar people, but it's definitely something to consider. Then of course you also have the cost of tuning, so it's not a cheap proposition to tune one of these. cars, this is obviously my PCM from my Hellcat. I actually bought a PCM separately for my car and it cost over $800, so you have some costs when it comes to adjusting one of these things, that's another thing to keep in mind.
Or also, if you come from aRT or an S They don't even have 93, but they recommend the highest octane you can get, so if you're thinking about putting cheap fuel in a car, the junk pack won't work either. Guys, if you don't check your car daily, I would recommend getting yourself a good set of drag radials for the rear of this one, the car is going to feel more planted, it's going to feel like it just puts the power down a lot better and it's going to be a little bit more enjoyable driving experience, obviously, you know we all like that We slip a little at times in terms of just venting the power, but at the end of the day, if you really want the car to be pretty quick on the street and reliable. fast to where it's not spinning all the time and you don't do it daily where you'll just rip the shit out of some drag radials, get a set of drag radials for the back of your poop pack, you'll really be impressed with how What a difference changing tires makes well guys, so that's it for my tips on the scat pack.
I just wanted to give you a little background in terms of the things I've learned about this car at the end of the day. "A very, very fun car to drive. I love driving this car. It's a blast. It's a fantastic daily driver. Lots of power. Mid-range torque is substantial. If you're looking for something that has a crazy top end, maybe this is it." you do". You're better off with a Mustang or maybe even a Camaro, something with ten speeds, but if you're looking for something to ride on the street, something that's going to put a big smile on your face just from running around town and having that oomph low-end that really puts a big smile on your face.
I mean, the scat pack is a really fun car, it's not the most economical car in the world to own or operate, obviously, like we talked about with gas mileage. and all the different things that go into the scat package there are a lot of different models on these cars in terms of wide body they have a 13 20 out there they have a TA I mean Dodge does a lot when it comes to scat trims so guys , I mean, they can trim them pretty much any way they want, all the way down to the fully decorated mid-50s, but at the end of the day, the scat package is actually a lot of fun. car to drive and own so we are really thoughtful to have it so I hope you enjoyed the content.
I really appreciate it and until next time, Racer X.
