5 reasons the Challenger R/T is actually better than the Scatpack

Jun 02, 2021
Guys, welcome back, I'm Racerx and I'm

actually

here to visit my good friend Daniel here at Clay Cooley Dodge Jeep Chrysler Rim, which is in Irving, Texas, which is

actually

between Dallas and Fort Worth and today I have a planned funny little video and i know it. All you rt guys, always racerx, know you don't give the rt enough love, well guess what I'm going to do today, just that, we'll talk about the rt, uh,

challenger

and a little bit about the charger. Also guys if you're new to the channel make sure to subscribe you can find it here in the corner and we're going we have the thousand horsepower so here's the deal.
5 reasons the challenger r t is actually better than the scatpack
I actually wanted to give you five

reasons

why. the rt you can see directly behind me might actually be

better

than the scat packet, since we know you can see the scat packet I lined up on the other side. I'll show you that card here in just a minute too, but um. I love the 392 in this cat package, but I want to give the rt, fair enough, so without further ado, I want to give you five

reasons

why the rt might be a little

better

than the scat package, real quick. I asked to borrow both cars this is actually an rt plus right here and this is a really fancy color it's actually called smoke show and I haven't seen this color much and it's actually a really nice color. almost like Mrs. . color and I have to admit that this is a very striking car, obviously, it is a widebody package on Hellraiser, very, very sharp, as we know that these two engines are very different, which we will talk about here in just a minute, but I wanted to show you what these two cars look like, obviously with the wide body, this one looks a little different, but both cars are beautiful, so let's get into it, okay, so point one, as you can imagine, is A lot of people look at the price when they look at these cars, so I went to the Dodge website and looked at the base price, which is really a fair way to compare cars, I mean, there are a lot of models available or whatever. , but when you talk about the Challenger rt, the base price on Dodge's website is thirty-four nine nine five, so when you compare it to the scat package here, that base price is actually 39,995, so what you're looking at exactly five thousand dollars difference. between the two and for some people they say oh no, the explorer is a much better deal and five grand, you really know it's not like it's not such a big deal and whatever, it depends on who you ask, for some people five grand could be a It's a deal breaker and here's the best thing about the rt, if you want that type of entry level v8 powered vehicle the rt is just perfect because you still get tire shredding power you still get a v8 loud, you get that amazing v8 sound.
5 reasons the challenger r t is actually better than the scatpack

More Interesting Facts About,

5 reasons the challenger r t is actually better than the scatpack...

You still get that, you get it in the scat package, but it's less money, so when you think about the charger, I mean you're looking at a sedan, a V8 sedan that costs around 35 grand, there's really not much else. to compare it. And some people might say, hey, yeah, but I'm a Mustang GT. I checked the base price of a ford mustang gt and it's still more expensive than the rt, not much, but still the rt costs less money, so when it comes to price and you want a v8, the rt is quite a bit of money, that tells me leads to point number two and for point number two I actually want to talk about the power plant that you find in the

challenger

or charger rt, it's that 5.7 liter naturally aspirated hemi v8 engine makes 372 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque and that's nothing to sneeze at here guys, so keep in mind that it wasn't that long ago that those horsepower numbers were really huge and of course everything has changed.
5 reasons the challenger r t is actually better than the scatpack
I've been so pumped up with all these crazy cars that come out, but at the end of the day, this is a very solid power plant, it's the same one that they put in their rams and that stuff has been proven to be a big help, the fact that which this is when You talk about modability, which we'll talk about here in just a second. This thing has a couple of advantages too, but when you talk about a proven engine, the rt, that 5.7 liter engine, I mean, they put it in. multiple different platforms and it's a very solid and proven power plant so point number three is actually about modability so if you're one of those people who really likes to modify their cars then the rt might be a better option for you than the scat pack, it really depends on what you like to do now, a lot of people know this and i have mentioned it many times, that the 6.4 liter engine is absolutely fantastic, it has a lot of power , a lot of torque and it is wonderful. to drive but it comes very optimized from the factory well in the 5.7 you actually have a little more room to grow and that's how the vehicle is designed and some people say well why does the truck have more horsepower what the car? and it's really just one thing that has to do with the intake manifold, truck intake manifolds just flow better and that's really the biggest reason and at the end of the day, you can put a truck manifold on these cars and they win some horsepower. but you know if you put a set of long pipes on this car you actually gain more than the scat package, if you put an exhaust on there you gain a little more than the scat package, almost everything.
5 reasons the challenger r t is actually better than the scatpack
You could do to this car that will actually gain some power incrementally. You actually win more with the 5.7 than with the scat pack. It's actually quite difficult to gain horsepower. It's quite expensive. I have to say adding horsepower to a 6.4 like I said. I've talked to you about this many times, but the 5.7 when it comes to modability, if you like seeing those horsepower gains, this guy will get more per mod than the scat package, so there's definitely something to think about . There, for point number four, I actually talked to my good friend B Mason, now I put his YouTube information up here.
A very, very smart guy knows these hemis uh inside and out and says this 57 is such a sweet package and I. I have to agree with him, I've driven these cars many times and at the end of the day this hits a really sweet spot for the street, which is where these cars live 99 of their time, even if you're a racer. Like me, you still spend a lot of time on the street and what I mean by that is when you accelerate from a standstill, this thing actually grips pretty well with a set of normal summer tires, believe it or not, it has just the right amount of grip. of power to feel like you're getting off the line relatively quickly under hard power but still without losing control, so it really has a good amount of power for that exact purpose for anyone who has driven a scat pack. or own a scat pack, I'll tell you that that 392 has so much torque and low power that it's hard to help but want to spin those tires, and while that might be fun on its own, don't get me wrong in terms of being. effective and fast, believe it or not, the rt will actually give the scat pack some adjustments unless you put the scat pack of course on a rim, some kind of drag spoke or something where you don't have the problem of turning, but if we're talking stock for stock on street tires, guess what the rt really does, uh, it puts up quite a fight when you talk about it taking on the uh scat package, like a dig, and that actually me leads to my last point, point number. five is the cost of operating the vehicle.
Now I know I talked about the initial cost of the vehicle, but in terms of the cost of running the vehicle year after year, how much does it cost to run the scat pack versus the rt and maintain it? Keep in mind you still get that crunchy power from the V8, but at the end of the day when you're talking about fuel economy, guess what ERT is a little better when you're talking about the type of fuel you have to put in, guess what you're talking about 10 and a half compression on the rt, 10 and a half to 1 vs 10.9 to 1 on this beast, this thing is only happy at 93.
So I can get away with 89 octane on the rt, something to think about . I guess in terms of insurance the rt generally costs a little less money so overall the rt will actually save you a bit of money even though it is still a fast vehicle that holds its own against many of the cars in it. way, so there's something to be said for that too. I also wanted to add another quick little subpoint and, uh, this seems to be true. I visit a lot of dealerships all the time and have very good relationships with many These guys and I look a lot at the inventory they have on hand and believe it or not the rt really isn't very hard to find while the scat package a lot of times just They don't get many, so I think a guy is needed. as a special buyer to get a pack of droppings, but at the end of the day when you're trying to find an rt, they're easier to find, they make more, and at the end of the day, because of that, you can often get a pretty solid deal. with these because you can find them in a lot of lots so I just want to point that out as well and that concludes my evaluation on some things that you might want to consider when you're looking at maybe an rt or a scat pack in terms of some of the things that maybe The RT actually does a little better than the beloved 6.4 liter engine found in that scat pack at the end of the day.
These cars are fantastic, they are both beautiful and they will both put a big smile on your face. Let me know what you think of my review in the comments below. Try to be objective about these things and have fun with them. I appreciate you sticking with me on this one and I'll see you on the next one, so until then, racerx.
