Mar 07, 2024
Hi, in this video I'm going to show you how to

make

a

mesh

wreath

using various colors of

mesh

and by attaching some

deco

rative pieces that

make

the

wreath

suitable for the holidays, I found all my supplies at Dollar Tree, but You can find the supplies that you need at any craft store or even at Walmart or Target. You will need a wire wreath and this mesh. I use three different colors and got three of each color. I had about half a row left. of each one and you can see the width here. They're like about double the width, but this is the width I use for mine and then you can also use

deco

rative tape.

Now this is optional. You wouldn't have to do this, but You'll see how I use it, you're going to need chenille stems or pipe cleaners as I used to call them, they're very important to have and you're going to need some wire cutters which will make your life a lot easier so the first thing you're going to do. What I'm going to have to do is just cut these strips and you're going to cut a lot of strips of mesh. Probably my least favorite part of this project is just cutting out all these mesh pieces that I had to say.

More Interesting Facts About,

how to make a deco mesh wreath easter diy dollar tree diy...

You know, when I started making these, I was very prescriptive and measured my pieces and even at the beginning of this I did the same thing because I was doing it on video and you know, the bottom line is you don't really have to be that prescriptive when you're cutting this mesh, all you're really trying to do is make sure it rolls up so you can just roll it up while it's on the roll, just take it out and do a little bit. roll it up and once you have enough to allow that whole little piece to form a roll or almost like a parchment you can go ahead and cut it but I will tell you this is about eight inches long if it is I will measure it from the roll once that you have cut all the mesh tape.

I went ahead and started cutting my normal ribbon. Now I wish I had done this a little differently when you cut the ribbon. Look at the height of the mesh tape. mine, since it's the mesh ribbon from Dollar Tree, is about six inches tall and I cut my ribbon also six inches tall and what you'll see in the end is that my regular ribbon doesn't really stick out as much from my wreath as it does. would like you to do it, so what I would recommend you do is cut it, you know, about an inch and a half to maybe three inches longer than your height, so if I did this again, I would cut my ribbon to eight to nine inches. long. and that makes it about 2 to 3 inches longer than my mesh ribbon and then once I cut all the ribbon I went ahead and cut the V's on the end.

Now this is really an optional thing, it's really a matter of preference and how you like your ribbon, but to do this easily if you want to put the V's in, I like to fold mine vertically in half, as you can see here and like that, when I cut my diagonal line, my cut is symmetrical on both. sides of my tape, it's a really quick and easy way to do it, but to make sure they're pretty consistent on both sides, okay, once I cut all the tape, it took me just a minute to get everything organized so I could start making my tape packages so you can see here.
I have my ribbon cut together into little cubes and I have my mesh separated by color which makes it much easier when it comes time to start rolling and making the bundles, so to do this we need to take three more pieces of the mesh one piece of the ribbon cut and together they will make a bundle and as I roll each one I cross them on top of each other so that we are pointing at different angles and then I take the strip of ribbon and place it on top again , even looking at another angle and then I just squeeze and pinch the middle as hard as I can and use a Chanel chenille stem. to wrap that and I try to get a really tight wrap because I really want that ribbon when I put it on my wire frame to have a really good hold, but you can see here when I'm twisting it, I'm just twisting it. a couple of times because if you twist too much, like I did when I first started making them, when you go to put them on the wireframe, you have a half inch of twist and it doesn't sit very well against the wireframe, so a couple of twists will do, as long as when you squeeze tight and you have a really good pinch in the center of your bundle, okay, let's do one more and then I'll show you how to attach the ribbon bundles to the frame of your wire wreath so that again we're winding the mesh, It gets a little sticky and the wires in there make it a little difficult to wind up at some point and while I'm doing this I try to make sure each of my rolls are nice. about the same thickness, you can have very tight rolls or loose rolls, you can see here.
I make mine pretty loose. I like the way it looks on the wire frame so you can roll all three pieces together and then I like to make my first two. it's kind of like a criss-cross like an done, I take a chenille stem and I just wrap it around using right in the middle of that chenille stem at the end, we're going to trim this out, that's what the wire cutters are for once we get all of these ribbon bundles on the wire. frame, we're going to use those wire cutters to trim it, so don't worry too much about having this chenille stem right on the stem, right in the middle, because we're going to be cutting most of those ends off anyway, so I like to do all my ribbon bundles before I start placing them on the wire wreath frame at the end.
You may have to gather some extras if you don't have enough, but it makes it a lot smoother because you kind of get into the rhythm of making all these packs, so like I said before, I like making packs of 6270 tapes. I like it. My wreath is pretty tight, meaning the ribbon bundles are very close together inside each section of the frame, so let's start here, this is our wire wreath frame. I bought this at Dollar Tree. I think it's 14 inches and I'm going to grab the ribbon bundles and on mine you can see I had a couple of different colored ribbons and So as I put my ribbon bundles on my wreath, I'm going to try to alternate them.
If you didn't use any variants like that, you don't need to worry about it, so take your wire frame and find those two middle wires, there are four layers around that ribbon wreath and find the middle two and take the chenille stems and you glue them on those two outer sections because you are going to tie your chenille stem. I shouldn't say tie, but twist it on the back of the frame with those two middle cables as you can see here and I twisted it about five times again. You don't want to turn it too much because you're going to Trim off that excess, but basically we're going to keep putting them on and you really want them to be tight because otherwise this tape pack isn't going to hold onto the frame very well, so I'm going in with my second piece here. again all the way through, I always put it on these two middle wires and I really tighten it and twist it now when you put them on when you start, it doesn't really matter that much that you're tightening them together because sometimes you know you just need to put them on and then you start pushing them because at that point I was talking about tension, what I was really talking about is how much are you going to push one pack of tape into the other because the tighter they are, the more mesh you're going to be putting in that frame and the more I don't know if you would call it volume, I think the more volume your frame would have, so you can just continue taking these packets of ribbons and don't worry, on the back it's going to look really bad when you start putting it on because you'll have all these chenille stems and really We're going to trim, but I'm talking about the back.
Your crown part will always look like that, but now no one sees the back of the crown. When I made my chenille stems, I chose a color that matched the look of my wreath because I was worried about where the chenille ribbon was. would show that I didn't want it to be just one funky color, so I went ahead and chose a coordinating color, but when you look at this here with this finished section, I don't think you really see the chenille stems anywhere. It's really cool when you see it come together because the pieces are mesh, even when you have a pack of ribbons.
I remember saying how this would look really cute, but once you start looking at a finished section, you can see how full it is and how those ribbon bundles and rolled round mesh really start to stand out and give that wreath a great look. appearance. This is the really fun part of the project, having all the ribbon bundles together really makes the wreath come together very quickly and sooner. You know, you just have this amazing looking wreath, full of fun colors and ribbon bundles, let's talk about the back, so what we're going to want to do next, you can see.
I have all my pieces in the crown. I just want to clean. If I don't, I'll scratch the paint on the wall. Those wire stems are very long and they all stick out, so I like to take my wire cutters and cut each of those chenille stems. Now what can you do? If you don't have wire cutters and it's really hard to cut them with scissors, you can braid them like a braid and pull those chenille stems flat and just twist them lengthwise and continue wrapping them around the back to make it something else. . option if you don't have the wire cutters and that's it, our wreath is pretty much done here, there are a couple more things we want to do.
I want to add a wire hanger, something to help you hang this wreath. on your wall, so I'll show you something I do to achieve that. There are many different approaches, but I have an easy one and then we'll talk about some additional steps you can take to write. or even give your wreath a little more flair, so let's start by talking about how we're going to hang this wreath, so you'll want to go ahead and flip the wreath over and then find a pipe cleaner or a chenille stremme that you'll use as wreath hanger and you're going to fold it in half and then you're going to take the loop of that pipe cleaner and you're going to tuck it under the second one of the outer wire and then you're going to tuck those ends through that loop but you're going to pull the loop up.
Okay, you can see here that my loop is up there and then I'm taking these two ends and I'm tying them and not on them, trying to tighten them. It's a little strange working with this chenille this way, but it works. and then once I tie my knot and then I make some twists that really helps hold this wire wreath it's super lightweight the mesh ribbons are lightweight the wire frame is lightweight so that's really enough to get it ready and from there, you can hang it on the wall and then you can take a few minutes to trim the mesh properly, so anywhere you're worried you know what frayed pieces you want to cut, cut any angles you need to add to any of the ribbons. and really just clean that up now.
I decided I wanted to add some decorative Easter picks to my wreath, so I grabbed these. These were only five eggs per

dollar

in each package, so it's a fun way to get some decorative items for a pretty cheap price. I just broke those picks because I needed to be them. I needed them to be pretty short and just stick them right into me and I didn't have any problems with them staying there so I didn't stick any of my photos on. on my wreaths because I already had an idea with this wreath. I wanted to do a fun makeover after Easter to turn her into a frozen wreath.
These colors are perfect for the frozen theme and there are so many inexpensive things you can get to stick directly in the center of the wreath with it saying frozen, but for Easter I have one of these eggs on it, so I keep cutting them out and just pushing them around the crown. You know, this is the fun part where you can just walk around. any store, but particularly if you're trying to be economical, Dollar Tree has very little wood. I don't know if they're wood, but they're little frames, little decorative pieces of art that look great in the center of these wreaths and I also regularly have all kinds of fun selections with things like these eggs, which is why I like to make these wreaths for everyone. the different occasions, whether it's Easter, heat or holidays, Christmas, Halloween did some fun Halloween things and then if you really want to have fun and do some things. like your school colors, you may have to go to Amazon because Amazon has all kinds of mesh ribbon colors, so here you see the mesh ribbon ready to go, it has these fantastic Easter picks that give it that touch final. and again, a really inexpensive way to do a fun mesh read, so I hope you found today's video helpful.
