Mar 17, 2024
Hi everyone, I'm Karen from Ribbony and today I'm going to show you in a short video how to attach

deco

rative

mesh

to a

wire

frame

and also how to continue using the basic removal

method

that we use on many of our Christmas wreath designs, this is a 18 inch wreath

frame

and this is our beautiful poinsettia, bright red

deco

rative

mesh

that we are using quite a bit in our Christmas designs, so I'm using the whole roll of decorative mesh, I'm opening it up on the floor because it's easier to work with that way and this is simply what you do: you just gather the decorative mesh.

I think the decking mesh has a bit of a mind of its own, but it may be that it can be tamed, so I'm squishing it like this or should I say pleating it, it's squeezing it like this, so I get it right and I'm working under the frame. We're always working under the frame when we use the

pull

method

and I'm going to attach it to the frame near the right, in this crossbar, here you can choose any crossbar to start with, of course, there are nine crossbars in this frame and I'm going to start

attaching

them here and I'm going to attach on circle one, just follow the instructions for your design, it will tell you which circle to start on, but obviously this is circle one, this is circle two, circle three, circle four, so for this wreath I'm going to start at the circle.

More Interesting Facts About,

attaching deco mesh to a wire frame and the pull through method...

Once the decorative mesh goes under the frame, I take a cable tie and I'm going to wrap it under the circle. One I wrap around the decorative mesh and then I push on the zip tie and it

pull

s really tight like this and that's my decorative mesh. attached, it's as simple as I'm trimming the end of the cable tie and actually you could trim the end of that decorative mesh as well. We don't want it to be seen, but I don't think it will be seen. because, as you will see, the decorative mesh is very bulky, so once you have done it, all you have to do is follow the basic removal technique.

In fact, I think it's a push and pull technique and you'll see why in a minute as I work with the decorative mesh, I try to keep it ribbon-like as narrow as possible, if you allow it to be as wide as it wants, it's harder. work with her, but that's at least what I think. So I grabbed it like a ribbon and basically now I'm going to push the decorative mesh through the first space, so when I say first space, I'm between circles one and two, I push it. through and then I'm pulling it off it's as simple as you're basically pulling it off it's like you're pulling on a tape initially and how do I know if I've accomplished enough?

Well, I like to be able to slide my hand in and then I know I have enough there to make it into a beautiful loop like a voluminous cloud of decorative mesh when I'm ready to fluff it up a little bit, so once I've made that first loop, just repeat again so try to keep that darker mesh under control push and pull there we go now you'll notice I'm holding this first loop tight because now it would be easy to pull and pull the loop and you don't want to do that so just I'm holding on, now those loops are pretty similar in size, I think they're not that bad and lastly I'm going to grab both loops now to make sure I don't pull anything out of the loops I've already formed and I'm pushing through the last space so you can see that I've made loops between the spaces between circle one and two, circle two and three. three and four are just three loops and it's as simple as that, if you can do that you can fill an entire wreath with echo mesh if you want, in our designs we sometimes say fill a section, sometimes we say fill the equivalent of one and a half section and sometimes more, it can be two or three sections, you just need to follow the pattern in your design and what I would do at this point is have a little fluff just to create a little bit of volume.
I don't want to fluff it too much, but just give it a little fluff and then continue in the same way. You'll be able to play with the layers and all the loops, um, as you go and then at the end, when it's all secure, at the end of your section or at the end of the whole wreath, you can make a really nice cut and make it see how you want. you want it to show through, but once you've made the first three loops, just keep going, there's no cutting here, you don't need to make any kind of cuts or attach zip ties until you get to the end of where you want to go.
Whether it's the end of the first section, one section, middle, three sections or if you're just making the whole wreath, you don't need to cut it until you get to the end of what you're working on or maybe you'll get to the end of the roll of decorative mesh, at which point you'll use a cable tie to secure it, so all I'm doing now for the second layer of loops is going underneath and just coming back through that first gap between circles one and two, there we go, yeah , that looks good and then again between circles two and three you'll have a chance to even things out as you go around the frame, so, don't worry too much and you'll soon learn how to do this and it's actually super simple and It's actually very, very fast, you can make a frame very quickly, using this pull-out method, make a crown, I should say, using this pull-out method, head with decorative mesh because it's obviously very bulky, there's a lot to do, just make sure it's still in the shot because my frame is going all over the place and there we are, that's my third batch of loops and again I would fluff it up a little bit. here and I'm not going to do this now because I'm sure you get the idea of the technique, but now I would fill the section, put another layer of loops in there, you don't want it to be half open, it's tempting, no.
Having to do too much, but you know, I just think you want the wreath to look really beautiful and luxurious and the best way to do that is to pack it in a little bit and you can easily get a third batch of curls. there so I hope this helps and I hope you really enjoy making your wreath.
