open says that in this episode of eat sleep drive we are talking about the Tesla Model 3 and not only

what

it is like to drive but

what

it is like to live on a daily basis, welcome everyone to another episode of eat sleep drive and today we have the Tesla Model 3 at my side. I have been driving this car or another Model 3 exclusively for the last seven days. I've been very careful not to drive any of my other cars because I was curious to see what it's like to live solely. with an electric vehicle, so that's what we're going to talk about today.

I'm going to talk a little bit about what this car does and how it drives differently than a normal car, but I'm going to talk more about what it's like. in just

living

with an electric vehicle and all the nuances that come with it, plus charging, range and things like that. Now before we start, I have two other videos on these Teslas, a regular rear-wheel drive

model

with extended range, and then this one. Performance of

three. I have those two videos in my previous video sections so check them out if you're curious and I should also give a quick thank you to Aaron for loaning me these vehicles.

we go, okay, now let's load . Really the biggest question I had about owning an all-electric vehicle, more specifically a Tesla. I don't have any type of enhanced level 2 or 3 charging in my house because I don't have an electric vehicle right now. I only have one standard US outlet, so I was curious if I could maintain my regular commute mileage, which is about 30 miles round trip to and from work, with just one standard outlet, like just a standard plug from an outlet in your regular home and these cars.

It comes with a cable that you can plug in. The answer is yes. I was able to get about 35 miles overnight so I could drive the next day, so you know if you're basically going to and from work during the week. I know you work, you come home from nine to five, plug it in and your commute is less than 35 miles. You'll be able to stay up to date with a level one charger. I've been driving this car a lot more because I've been writing and doing video reviews for the car so I've been charging a lot more and have had to go to the supercharge station to keep up with it.

I'm not unaware of the fact that if you own one of these cars, of course, you will have to drive a little more at some point, so you will have to go through a supercharging station. Fortunately, in my city alone, Cincinnati, t

here

are three or four strictly Tesla stations and then there are many more. You know third parties that you can pass by, so

really

charging hasn't been as much of a problem as I thought, especially considering this model has 310 miles of range now while we're on the subject of the range of this car and the other one. that I borrowed the extended range model had about 310 miles of range and I found that to be more precise there are a lot of factors that go into that as to what type of driving you're doing oh my gosh I've obviously been driving pretty tough because I've been doing a service so I've been using a little more power than is probably normal and also things like heat from the air conditioning are big factors in these cars because that's something that will reduce their range .
So it depends on your climate, your mileage may vary as they say, but overall I found it to be within about ten percent of the advertised range which is pretty good all things considered, one thing to keep in mind is that Tesla recommends not charging this car at 100 percent all the time and that seems a little strange because you're saying, obviously I want all the capacity and all the range I can get, but it's actually bad for long-term performance. of your battery, your battery will degrade faster if it's constantly at one hundred percent, so they recommend around 80 to 90 percent, that's something to keep in mind with these cars if you want to keep it long term, as my charging port closes automatically if you want to keep it long term, you won't have the longest range all the time.
Now they say that if you charge it to 100% and use it immediately, it's not a big deal, it's not as important as charging it to a hundred. percent and just always keep it there, that's bad enough now that these cars come with an eight year hundred thousand mile warranty, so as long as you don't plan on selling them before then, you'll pretty much be covered by Tesla warranties, so which is Tesla will be present in that within the next 10 years or in the next ten years. I should say I hope so, but right now they are a bit insecure due to their financial difficulties here and there.
I hope they are present, but never. You know, we've already talked a little bit about charging and I was able to charge the car at home and had no problems keeping up with a 110 outlet. I already talked about that, but I was just curious what. what the supercharging stations were like and how they worked and all that just because I had never been to one so I got here at the supercharging station one of the questions I had was how busy are these places because now that they are selling a lot more models three. I know when they were Model S there weren't a ton of them, but now that they are selling a lot more model threes, I was thinking that these might even be too crowded and time consuming. time to charge maybe there will be a waiting time.
I've heard about it online in Ohio, that's not the case, as you can see there's no one here. I'm the only car that charges here, so there are at least 10, maybe 11 ports here and me. I'm the only one, so in California it seems like it's a problem for charging, but I can tell you right now that in Ohio it's not a problem at all. Now it's about how long it takes when the battery is closest to needing charging. because once again I didn't need to charge it, I just want to check it out. I still have 200 miles of range and to get the extra 100 miles that would complete this it will take 40 minutes to charge and that's because as you get closer to the max it takes longer and longer to charge so that's one thing to keep in mind: these are not made to be recharged and once again I knew going in I just wanted to experience the station but you can expect better times if your battery was more drained you could get a lot more mileage and a lot faster now as I reflect on driving this car exclusively for a week, I think the first thing that comes to mind is just from a commuting perspective.
You practically can't beat the luxury of an electric vehicle in the NVH department NVH stands for noise vibration harshness and electric vehicles are second to none in that category. I don't care how good your engine is, your gasoline engine, it's just not going to be as quiet, it offers less vibration or any kind of harshness than an electric vehicle and obviously the main reason for this is that there is no engine, no you are burning nothing, the electric motor is completely silent, there is no change of years, there are no Gears in an electric car, you know, you just turn the engine and you do it from a relaxed perspective, as I realized that I felt like coming home from work driving this car.
It's

really

nice, just to decompress, come home and be in a good state. By the way, the autopilot is nice even if there is traffic, it doesn't really stress you out too much because he actually drives for you and puts up with all the idiots on the roads, so from that perspective, you know he's absolutely great. Then let's talk about what it's like to get used to an electric vehicle because fundamentally they drive a little bit differently and you can adjust these settings quite a bit at least with a Tesla, but the first thing you really have to get used to is breaking regen with an electric car, so when You start, IVA stops using electric energy to keep going and when you stop, the car wants to try to recover some of that energy, so if I release the accelerator and not with a brake, the car slows down more than a car with a gasoline engine traditional automatic and it takes some getting used to and also in that sense it doesn't crawl by default and what do I mean by sliding on a traditional gasoline automatic car if they are stopped at a stop on flat ground they take off the foot of the brake, the car will just go forward a little bit, as always, very slowly, inches forward by default, these cars don't do that, you can change the settings, but I found that I liked that it didn't drag, the car it just works when you actually step on the accelerator, so again, it's something you can easily get used to and it's really no big deal outside of that, this is still basically just a normal car and you know, it's not any harder of driving in any other car, but there are two major complaints that I have finally made about it after owning this car for an extended period of time: the first is What is happening right now and that is that the automatic wipers are useless .
I can barely see through the windshield right now and yet the automatic wipers still don't want to clean the windshield. If this is a simple fix like they just need to increase the sensitivity of the automatic wipers. I'm sure he's using the camera, the front camera that he uses for all his security and autopilot and things like that to see if the window is dirty. or not, but just turn up the sensitivity like it's not that hard. I think it's a security problem. I think it goes up. I often have to manually adjust the wipers and I don't like having to do it on a screen because every time you have to use dexterity to touch a screen when there are bumps and things happening, you inevitably press the wrong button, so that's a complaint Minor, although the other complaint I have is with the app, it just seems to connect and disconnect at random times.
You know, if you're even remotely close to the car, it's nice that the app is awesome just so you can walk to your car, get in because it's connected to bluetooth, and then go, but it seems like the battery hog is also a bit of a clunky one. I was trying to using a summon button where you can move the car back and forth, it eventually stopped working, so maybe it's my phone, you know? I don't want to be too critical, but I don't love the app. Now they don't have to use the app, there's just a little key card that they can use that will show them - just put it somewhere on the center console when you want to drive the car so you can type.
I'm guessing you probably keep it in your wallet or something so you don't have to use an app, but once again I found the app a little clunky. These are pretty much my biggest complaints about this car and they are very few. and I think the last thing I'll say about this car is that it has the most usable power I've ever experienced, not that it's the fastest car I've ever been in, although it's certainly close to a zero to thirty, zero to sixty perspective. , it's crazy, but there's a certain stigma when it comes to driving a traditional gas car quickly because they're traditionally pretty loud, for example, my Mustang GT, if you're 50, I love it.
It makes wonderful noises but not everyone else does so I want to get in and enjoy it or if I'm just cruising and need to change lanes quickly it will make a lot of noise doing so because it's a big loud V8. This car just goes unnoticed and you can just put your foot on it at any point and be in a lane and it doesn't cause a big scene, you know, just pulling away from a light if you want to do it fast, you do it. in this car and no one really hits a nine because it doesn't make any noise unlike other cars once again like my Mustang of course of all the things that are just super rock it has super noise so you can use the power more and more. not being judged, which is something I never thought about until I actually started driving this car and in some ways it helps a lot.
I already talked about this in my last video, it has fewer liters and I think in general. It's a little less fun as a toy, but the accessibility to speed in this car is pretty unmatched, like flying under the radar and being stealthy, so overall I'd say my experience with this Tesla and an all-electric vehicle for a week has been positive, it was something I just had no idea how livable it would be on a day to day basis and I would say with confidence that you could definitely have just one EV these days, at least in the Midwest there is enough charging infrastructure without there being too many electric vehicles at this point where I have really seen anywhere where I have had to wait for an electric to charge the car and more importantly I have basically been able to continue charging it at home if I installed a charger Level 2, they are not very expensive.
I would not haveproblems and I would practically never have to charge the car at a supercharging station unless I was going on a long trip or something, but Fortunately, there are enough Tesla stations scattered around the cities and if I were going on a long trip, I think would be fine, so the overall electric driving experience is, from a comfort perspective, superior to that of a normal car. I can not, I can not. discuss that at all, I think it's a little less fun since I've talked to it in my other videos, so I would definitely love to have a Tesla as a daily driver and then a fun gas car to burn gas on the weekends and just enjoy, that's my ideal scenario, but I definitely see how these cars are the future and I think for most people who are car enthusiasts, these cars are going to be a huge game changer, let me know what you think Comments below once again if you haven't seen my last two videos with the model. 3 and the performance of the Model 3, go check them out, check out Aaron's link below if you want to rent a Model 3 in the Cincinnati area and if not, I appreciate you checking it out.
