Tesla yet and today I'm going to show you why I borrowed this Model 3. from a viewer

here

in Orange County, California, and I'm going to start with a brief overview, as you probably know, the Model 3 It's Tesla's latest vehicle, it's a basic sedan with a starting price of around 35,000. Now I've done it. I reviewed the Model 3. I was one of the first reviewers to get my hands on one almost exactly two years ago, right after this car first came out, so why am I reviewing it again because the Model 3's

performance

presents some Substantial improvements over the normal

model

model

3 has 280 horsepower, this one has 470 horsepower, leading to a 0-100 time of 3.2 seconds, which is faster than a bmw m3 and almost as fast as the faster and higher

performance

version of the bmw m5, but the price is not close to the m5, the model 3 performance starts around 56,000 which is a bargain given its speed and performance It also has more range than the regular Model 3. an entry level Model 3 has about 220 miles of range but it can travel about 310 miles before you have to charge it and t

are also other upgrades that I'll show you in this video so today I'm going to take you on a tour of the Model's performance 3.

It's time to learn about the peculiarities and performance characteristics of the Model 3, since I already did a very long and in-depth review of the Model 3 when it first came out. I'm not going to cover every detail of this car, instead I'm just going to focus on new and exciting things and cover some other notable quirks and features, but I'm going to start with the new things and for the performance of the Model 3, one of the new elements More interesting is the tracking mode.

More Interesting Facts About,

here s why the tesla model 3 performance is the best tesla yet...

Now no one denies that the most powerful Tesla models are really fast, but they have had some problems. the race track and that's why the Model 3 Performance has track mode, you go into the all-knowing center screen and you can select track mode and it does a couple of things, one is it improves cornering by adjusting the brake on the suspension and really helps improve handling when you're on a race track track mode also helps improve cooling because one of

tesla

's problems has been that their cars seem to be built more for straight line acceleration and they overheat when they're going to the race track, but if you put it in track mode, you'll have slightly better cooling so you can get a few more laps out of your Model 3's performance and then one feature that I love about this car is sentry mode.
here s why the tesla model 3 performance is the best tesla yet
Now, if you look around this car, you can see there. There are cameras everywhere, you have a camera on the sides, you have a camera on the front windshield, a camera on the back and not only do they help you see when you're backing up, they can monitor what's going on around you. More cars should have this, but right now only Tesla has it and it works really cool. You turn off the car, lock it, walk away, forget it, but the cameras remain vigilant, hence the name sentinel mode, so someone approaches the car like that. crazy, you can see that the cameras detect it and the lights flash to let them know, hey, you are being monitored, but it goes further, the screen also changes to show that the car is in sentry mode and your actions are being recorded, so yeah You look inside to see if there's anything valuable you can steal, the first thing you'll see is that screen that says "Hey, you're being recorded" and obviously that's going to make this car a much less desirable target when you leave.
here s why the tesla model 3 performance is the best tesla yet
Sentinel mode still records. for another 30 seconds or so and finally it turns off and continues to stay alert in case anyone else comes up with a couple of interesting things about sentry mode if it detects something other than movement outside the car, such as a glass. Breaking it will actually send an alert to the owner's cell phone saying, "Hey, you better check this out." Something is happening and another cool feature when you get back in the car after sentry mode has been active, one of the first things that appears on the screen is a small alert that lets you know how many times sentry mode noticed someone approaching to your vehicle and then another fantastic feature of this car is something called dog mode.
Let's say you want to run into a store and leave your dog in the car. Obviously, if it's a little hot, you can't do that because it will be too hot in the car, but you can go into the climate control in your Tesla and turn on dog mode and then the climate control will keep the interior nice and cool. Even though you locked the car and drove away, it will continue to cool the interior until it reaches 20 percent charge, so you can do this for hours, I guess if you want to do it now, this still presents a bit of difficulty. problem because if you leave your dog in the car, even if it is cool here people will see your dog and get scared thinking that he is going to die because he is warming up inside you because they don't know that dog mode is activated. but that's another brilliant use of the screen in this car when dog mode is on and you walk around the car and walk away the screen actually says my owner will be back soon shows a photo of a dog and actually shows the current information temperature inside the car, so in theory if someone gets scared thinking their dog is here, maybe they'll look inside and see that and not worry as much, and another awesome new feature is something called tesla cinema which allows you to turn the screen.
In a real movie theater, you go to the Tesla movie theater and you can see that you can select Netflix, you can select YouTube, and you can watch things while you're sitting in your car. Now it's important to note that this only works in the parking lot so you can't watch Netflix or YouTube while driving, which is probably best for safety, but you can think of a million ways this could be useful, e.g. If you are in your car waiting for something or someone you can pick up. tesla cinema and watch a couple of youtube videos or a netflix show or a movie while you're sitting and waiting, that's a really cool idea.
Now those are some of the most useful new features on Tesla's giant central display. There are also a few less. Useful but still interesting features, one of which is Tesla Arcade. Well, look at this. Go to this little arrow button at the bottom, then you look and to the right is something called Tesla Arcade. You press that and you can select a game to play. and you can choose from a lot of different arcade style games that you would have played like in the 80s and that's so cool so just to give you an example of how it works I'm going to choose asteroids and if you choose asteroids you can see that explains how you play the right and says you use the steering wheel.
That's actually true. Look at this now. I'm on asteroids and you can see I'm using the steering wheel to move my little spaceship. press the left button on the steering wheel to accelerate your spaceship, turn the steering wheel to turn your spaceship and it's the best, obviously I'm not very good at this while trying to film with one hand and steer and shoot with the other hand, but let's see what I am so good when I have both hands available and the answer is that I am not very good yet. It's worth noting that you don't just have 80s-style arcade games to choose from, there are racing games here too. game called beach buggy racing two you go into that and then you choose a character and you choose a track and then you can race a beach buggy on your tesla and of course the way to do that is by using the steering wheel and the pedals.
To drive your racing car while sitting in your Tesla once again, of course this can only be operated when you are parked, but if you are bored, waiting for something or someone or just want to get in. in your garage for entertainment you can do that and you can race your beach buggy racing game inside your car and here is something amazing about this, while you move the steering wheel in the game the wheels of the car also move. Real life, so you're moving the steering wheel to control your beach buggy on the screen, but you can see that the wheels on this model 3 actually move when I move the steering wheel, so there's a little bit of real life in the video.
The game here is absolutely crazy, and speaking of fun and cool features on this car, there are quite a few other new types of Easter egg features that you wouldn't find on any normal, rational car. To access them, you enter a small element called a toy box. click on the toy box and then all these icons appear and you can see them, we'll do them individually, there's one with a fire, you press it and then the whole screen turns into a fireplace which looks really cool, but it also turns on the heat in the car to give you a warm physical experience and you have this nice warm image of a fireplace on the infotainment screen and then another image in the toy box is Elon Musk's Tesla roadster being driven through space for a while.
So we click on that's the drawing program and you can see that you can use it to draw on your infotainment screen. I'm writing my signature phrase, but not only do you have to write, you can also change the color of what you are. doing and then you can draw something, for example, right now I am drawing you a nice drawing of a dog that has been possessed by satan. I think I'll sign my masterpiece now. I don't know when it will be useful to you, but if you wanted to draw on the infotainment screen of your car, you can do it here and then another one of these items in your toy box is this planet that would be Mars and if you click on it, the map Your navigation screen becomes the surface of Mars and turns your vehicle into the Mars rover.
Now I mentioned that some of these more fun little updates aren't particularly useful. This is probably the best example of that, since you know you're not actually on Mars, so you can't really say anything. your navigation map isn't particularly useful but it's a cool little thing to show your friends and then another interesting item in the toy box, there's a whoop cushion there and that's fart mode. By clicking on the scream cushion, you enter fart mode. and you can make the car play various fart noises. The first interesting thing that happens here is that you can place them so that if, for example, you want it to look like one of your rear passengers is making farting noises, you can place the focus of the sound there and that's where the noise will come from. of the fart, which is kind of funny.
You can also change the type of fart noise that comes out with this little drop-down menu. There are quite a few options, listening and another interesting element with the fart. The way is that you can also set the fart sounds to happen on demand, so when you press the button on the left steering wheel it makes a fart sound, but I actually prefer the other option, which comes on when you turn on the turn signal, so every time you turn on the turn signal you hear the fart sound, which is also ridiculous, but it's kind of funny.
What I like most about this whole fart mode experience is the fact that they call it emissions test mode. I think it's absolutely hilarious. and I also think it's kind of a coup for Volkswagen that Volkswagen's emissions testing mode is this cheat system to improve their emissions. Tesla is just a joke on a screen. Then a couple of other interesting items in the toy box, one is this reindeer that puts. In Christmas mode, you press that and then the car image on the screen turns into Santa's sleigh and plays Christmas music. That one's not particularly useful, but I guess it's interesting.
The last one is the cowbell mode, which is. probably the strangest thing if you put it, when you are driving using the autosteer system, you can press the autosteer lever four times in quick succession and then the screen will show your driving environment like Rainbow Road from Mario Kart and play lots of sounds of cowbell, this is very strange, but here it is in practice and another interesting new feature is a karaoke system in the infotainment system that Tesla calls karaoke and you can select a song and then sing it according to the words. They are displayed on the screen just like you would with karaoke in a bar.
It's absolutely ridiculous that this exists and again not particularly useful but it does in fact exist and another interesting quirky feature if you get into thislower screen that allows you to choose between several different ones. Options One of those options is calling, which of course you can do with a Bluetooth phone that has been paired. The interesting thing here is that if you press and hold the call, it changes the call description to today, which I assume was Alexander Graham Bell's favorite phone. hello and mr burns used to say it on the simpsons you can hold it again and it calls again but you can switch between the two and your call icon can say ahoy today if you want and then another new feature appears in this utility car Arguably it's something called smart summoning, now the way it's supposed to work is if you're in a parking lot and you're far away from your car at the other end of the parking lot, you can summon it to leave its parking space and come towards you. you now.
In the past it would pull out of the parking space but several vehicles do this now, it will actually drive around obstacles and come towards you to meet it. car so you don't have to walk to your parking spot. Now there are several videos on the Internet of how it is used and it doesn't work so well. The car is crashing into something. The car doesn't see any obstacles I'm talking about. Right now without having used it, I'm going to do that next. You can see the results right here, as you can see that the car turned in the wrong direction, but before I blame Tesla, I should note that the phone I was using had GPS. showing the wrong location, which would have also affected Uber or Google Maps or any other app that uses your location, it was really a phone issue, it was still funny once the phone got my correct location, the summon worked fine and I even went to the other side of a row of parked cars and the Tesla came towards me, although as you can see it doesn't do it very gracefully, it still works I guess, and the next cool feature of this car is an upgrade to the ignition system. autopilot called navigating on autopilot, it's not the secret that Tesla has a great autopilot system that will do a lot of the steering and driving for you, but now if you navigate on autopilot it will also do more than that, For example, if you have the navigation system on, it will zoom in.
At an exit, the car will automatically change lanes to the exit and then take the exit. If you have normal autopilot, you need to turn on the turn signal, then the car will move and you will have to tell it to get in. the exit, but if you navigate on Autopilot it will do all that for you which is a really impressive step in the already impressive world of Tesla Autopilot and the next improvement to the Tesla Autopilot system is the graphics that appear on the screen. to show you what was in your vicinity in the past, they were these kind of amorphous blobs that looked like cars, trucks and lane lines, now you can see that it has been dramatically improved, it is much nicer, higher quality and with better details on this screen, which is a nice aspect.
And next, another improvement made since the last time I reviewed a Tesla is a new supercharging system. Now one of the benefits of having a tesla is that you can go find a supercharger near your house and it will charge your car much faster than anything you have. you can get home safely, now there is a new supercharger system that Tesla calls v3 and it is much faster than the current one; It can add 75 miles of range to your car in just five minutes, so it can fully recharge you in about 15 or 20 minutes, which is obviously really impressive.
Another benefit of v3 Supercharging is that you will no longer have to share your load with the vehicle parked next to you. Each v3 station will have dedicated chargers for each individual vehicle and then some non-technology related ones. Model 3 updates since I last checked, one relates to the back seat, some reviewers complained that the back seat was too flat on the model 3, so Tesla added a little more padding and some sort of ridges and you can see that it's not as flat as before, which should make it a little more comfortable on longer rides. Another update that happened here is that the interior no longer uses leather at all in the past, I guess they were using synthetic leather for the seats. but the steering wheel still had leather on it, that's gone now so now the interior of this car is 100% leather free and I must say you can't tell if you really look at the seats if you feel them touching them, sit on them.
It looks like leather, obviously this decision was made with the animals in mind to try to prevent cows from being used for their leather and I'm sure there will be some people who say I can tell the difference and I want those cow things back, But I don't it feel very similar? It looks very similar. You could tell me this is real or fake leather and I would have no idea what most of the new things are with the Model 3, but I also want to go over some of the more. interesting quirks and features of this car, since it's been like two years since I reviewed it and since there are a lot of quirks and features, I'll start at the giant central infotainment screen that controls everything now if you press the little car icon At the bottom left it shows all the controls and the first default screen that appears is the quick controls.
This is where you will see how to adjust the headlights, mirror, adjust the steering wheel position and adjust the screen brightness. Pretty standard stuff, what's not standard is how well they adjust, look at this, you go into mirror adjustment and it tells you that you can use the steering wheel controls to adjust the mirrors and in fact you can, there's a little rotary knob on the steering wheel that you can use to move the mirror up or down or left or right and position it exactly how you want it done and you can do the same with the mirror on the other side now that's not particularly exciting except that You go to the steering wheel adjustment and guess what, now you can use that dial button on the steering wheel to adjust the position of the steering wheel so it's multipurpose, you move it up or down here and the steering wheel goes up or down. move it from left to right and the steering wheel goes in or out so that little button on the steering wheel can change what it does depending on what you're doing now, if you have the radio on or you're listening to music, it's the volume control, you move it up or down and then it will change the volume, but that's a great idea, it allows you to reduce the number of buttons on the steering wheel because they can have different functions depending on what you're doing.
At any time, the next step is to continue with the infotainment system and enter the driving tab. One thing I love is the names of the driving modes: you have sport and relaxation instead of just sport and normal, normal is called relaxation because when you want to relax put it on cold and another interesting element in the driving tab, if it goes At the bottom you can see there is a configurable item called creep, if you turn it on it will allow the car to crawl forward when you take your foot off the brake, like most cars with automatic transmission, if you turn it off the car will not go forward slowly, it's amazing that that's configurable, it's something we've all been used to in automatic cars for so long, in this you can choose if you want it or not.
To drag me on and on, another interesting element here on the Model 3's giant center screen is the fact that it has an Internet browser and, in fact, a fairly large and quite good one. I'm going to go to my own website right now and I can see it's loading, I'm in a basement so it takes a little time, but if you give it time, look, I'm crushing an Audi all the way, one of my greatest achievements, you can use this internet browser however you want to access various websites. in your model 3. and next there is a crazy feature in the infotainment system if you go to the climate tab and you go to this little button that looks like bacon, pull up the heated seat controls, now the heated front seats They have easier controls than There are little menu items that you can touch that are always available on the screen, so you don't have to navigate to this screen every time you want to turn on the heated front seats, but for the heated rear seats Yes you have to get in here and there's crazy, this car has a heated center rear seat.
I've never seen it before. You often see cars with heated rear seats on each side, but a heated center rear seat is crazy, I've never seen it before and you can control the entire seat heating using this little on-screen menu. Another cool thing about the heated seat controls in this menu is that there is an all-off button, so if a passenger gets out of the car and walks away, their heated seat doesn't turn off in the back, it doesn't even have a button to turn it on or off, then you can press everything and it turns off from this menu, which can be very convenient and next I want to talk about the general operation of the infotainment screen and specifically the fact that it is a very fast screen, very responsive and when I drove this car for the first time two years ago, I was impressed by how quickly it responded to touches, as you can see by moving the map around, basically anything but It's important to mention that in the last two years other automakers They have caught up with this responsiveness.
Mercedes-Benz BMW Porsche Volvo. Their systems are pretty much this responsive now, so Tesla doesn't have the advantage it once had in this area. This is still a great infotainment system, very intuitive, but other automakers have made great strides to catch up and I personally think a couple of other brands even have better infotainment tech than Tesla now, Since I am talking about the map, one interesting thing here is if you look at the map, you can see the location of all the Tesla superchargers and you can see that some are bright red and some are dim red, so why that?
Well the reason is that it shows which superchargers are within the current range of this car, which is obviously really cool, those are the ones you can reach for, which will help you plan your trip if you want to go somewhere. I can't go to Las Vegas right now, but I can get to Baker's Feel now since we're on the topic of where things are on this screen, I have to say that as much as I like this all-encompassing screen and the Relatively minimal interior, I wish there was a head-up display in this car, what speed you're at. travel is displayed at the top left of the screen, which is as close to your field of view as possible, but it's still not right in the middle, which is where you want it.
It would be nice if this car had a small head-up display right in your field of view that showed some important items, your speed, maybe if your turn signals are on the wipers, maybe what song is playing, that sort of thing I think. which would be an improvement to this interior and something else that would be an improvement to this interior would be cooled seats. The Model 3 doesn't offer cooled seats in any capacity on any trim level, no matter how much you pay, and it's the same story with a heated steering wheel, no matter what you spend. not available, it seems strange to me, this car has a built-in racing game where you can control a cartoon beach buggy using your steering wheel and yet they can't give you cooled seats, it seems so ridiculous, but in fact that is the situation and the following.
Above, I want to talk about how to get in now. If you are the owner of this car, you sync your phone with the car and the car recognizes your phone when you approach, you just open the door and you don't need any key now because this is not my model 3, it doesn't respond to my phone so that the owner gave me this little thing that looks like a credit card that says Tesla on it that you can use as a key if you go up to the car. You see now that he has the mirrors closed. they are folded but you hold the little tesla key up to the b pillar between the doors and it unlocks and then you can do the same deal if you leave and you want to lock the car just hold this little key card up to this area it will lock the doors and then you can walk away and then once you've unlocked the car with the key card and you're inside, you can't just get in and start walking away, you have to take an extra step.
Take the key card and place it on the center console in a specific area between the center storage and the cup holders and then you can start the car and drive away and you can see on the infotainment screen that it actually tells you to dowhich basically means you can't go anywhere until you put the key card there and then it will recognize you and eliminate another interesting quirk of the model 3, since it is an electric car, it doesn't make any engine noise which means which could scare or surprise pedestrians or cyclists who don't hear it coming, since it is silent from the outside.
As a result, Tesla adds a bit of sound to this car at low speeds to make sure people can hear it coming and aren't surprised. that's why the sound is very unusual listen and those are the quirks and performance characteristics of the tesla model 3 now it's time to take it out on the road and see how well it drives driving the performance of the model 3 I'm just going to oh shit, I didn't expect you to know that one of my problems with the Model 3 is that even the performance model is now faster than anything else. It's like the speed of an m5 super competition car is that fast, but it still looks like that. like kind of a crappy little, you know, like someone's electric car, you know, that's so special, so as a result you underestimate it, you go in and you're like, yeah, whatever, but then, oh my gosh. , it's like wow, that's it. that's the surprise of the year, for sure, I mean you get a mclaren, and you know the mclaren is a little bit faster than this one and it's like, well, I was expecting it because it looks like a crazy card, it sounds like a crazy car, Oh God.
God, what is this? Oh my god, crazy. Wow, the direction is pretty good too. I put her in sports management. It's also in sport acceleration mode, not cold. The steering actually isn't that bad. It's fast. Is m3 fast? I'm surprised he wasn't. I was expecting that because the one I drove before was okay but didn't feel as sporty as this one, now dynamically it's probably not on the same level as the m3, it's taller so I imagine the center of gravity could be how low it is. . all those batteries down, so that may not be true, but I will say that the steering, the precision of the steering and the quickness of the steering are really impressive.
I really wish there was a head-up display. Some 300 models are divided on this and this is One of the big complaints about the car, some people say they love it and don't care, but I think it would be nice if you could see right in front of you, that's the speed at which I'm going, maybe if your headlights are on. turn signals, whatever, yeah it's not that bad, I can't believe it, they've actually been able to turn this into a pretty sporty little one, oh my god, well this doesn't suck at all, it's got a slimmer body, No doubt. that m3 or something like that is a very high performance European rival, but not by much and I really think that the precision and speed of the steering may be faster than I expected, this at all, I assumed that there were so many multitudes of The Tesla people and I just assumed it would be good, but there's no way it could be that good and the Tesla people would love it even if it slapped them while they were driving, but this is actually pretty good. not like a Tesla obsessive person uh I just like cars and this is a really good one that wouldn't get old I mean it would get old it would make you sick after a while but it wouldn't get old I can't believe how fast it is and it doesn't I can believe how well it curves.
Once again, the styling is what really gets me, although I think I'd still prefer the m3 just because it looks so cool when it looks like an electric car. It doesn't look fun or fast or anything so I guess maybe the roadster is the car for me and that's the performance of the Tesla Model 3. This car is a substantially good value with its 56k price and 310 range miles, its performance and its technology. When you take into account the price, the performance, the technology, the equipment, it's easy to see why this is the best Tesla yet and now it's time to give it a Doug score, starting with the weekend categories and the style.
For me, this is one of the biggest drawbacks of the Model 3. Drawbacks: It's too boring and familiar and gets a 5 out of 10. Acceleration is 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and gets a 9 out of 10. Handling is very precise, not quite sporty, but great for a sedan and gets a 6 out of 10. The fun factor is good but not crazy, it's a lot of fun to step on the gas and even corner, but with an interior and exterior so generic you lose a bit of excitement to European rivals and get a six out of ten ultimately great factors and these are everywhere in major cities.
Tesla makes a mistake by not improving the looks of the performance version compared to the base model, so it looks basically identical, won't turn heads, and earns a 5 out of 10 for an overall weekend score of 31 out of 50 The following are the daily categories and features. This car has incredible technology among the best in the industry, but then it is missing simple things like cooled seats and a heated steering wheel, as a result it gets a 9. out of 10. The comfort is average for the class and it gets a 7 out of 10. 10. quality is mixed, interior just not that nice but reasonably well put together and reliability isn't the best on the charts but ok earns a six out of ten practicality is average for this segment a bit better thanks to its two trunks and finally gets a value score of six out of ten and this is where this car shines, it costs a lot less than a bmw m3 but is faster and has better technology, the value score is easily excellent and eight out of 10 The total score obtained is 67 out of 100, which places it here against relevant rivals in this segment and other electric cars, the performance of the model 3 is excellent, although it can be seen. loses to the bmw m3 cs and the audi rs3 and the weekend scores those cars are simply more attractive and better looking the model 3 also loses to the jaguar i-pace and the model x in the daily scores since those cars They are larger and more practical but Overall, in this segment, for its price, no car does better than the performance of the Model 3.
It is the best Tesla and it is also a fantastic car.
