Gravity Falls: Everything You Need To Know

May 01, 2020
Things used to be a lot simpler when I was a kid, my favorite cartoons didn't have stories, they were dumb comedies where literally anything could happen to the characters and

everything

would go back to normal in the next episode, you could just explode. man he would be back next week and no one would talk about it again but these days all these cartoons I watch have plots and arcs and it's exhausting man why do I spend so much time crying over cartoons and one? One of the biggest offenders of this is Disney's Gravity Falls and that's because it's the best cartoon ever made, not necessarily my favorite, but one of the best made cartoon stories I've ever seen.

They live with her great-uncle Stanford Pines, who runs a shithole. Tourist trap in town called The Mystery Shack. Also working at the Mystery Shack are a teenager named Wendy and Asus named Soos. The town of Gravity Falls is full of crazy supernatural things like ghosts, minotaurs, mermaids, wax, Larry King and much more. Dipper starts picking up. about all these strange happenings and asks his uncle Stan about it, but he tells him to leave, so while wandering alone in the forest, Dipper discovers a secret compartment in a tree that opens a trapdoor in the ground. This seems safe and he looks inside the secret grass hatch. and he finds a dusty, moldy book with a giant six-fingered hand and the number three.

I see absolutely nothing unusual in this. Inside the book are diary entries from an anonymous author detailing tons of the weird stuff that happens in Gravity Falls and this. The diary comes in handy when tons of crazy things start happening to the Pines—like a lot of things, it's like they built their house on a very strange magnet or something—and for much of the first season, the show faces a monster of the week but there is an underlying mystery in episode one. At the end of that episode, we see Stan sneaking around the shack at night, entering a code into a vending machine that opens a secret door, but the plot doesn't really pick up until we meet Gideon.
Gideon is a tiny boy who runs his own trap. for tourists, somehow he is a local celebrity and has an amulet that gives him psychic powers again, somehow one day Dipper May and Seuss go to watch Gideon's show to gauge the competition and Gideon

falls

in love with Mabel within a matter of seconds, but Mabel says I'm in love with everyone, but not you. Mabel sends Dipper to the friend zone. Gideon, but Gideon is like we live in a society and a prosecutor Dipper with the powers of him. Mabel closes that. The disorder breaks The Amulet and severs ties with a toxic Marshmallow Man and because Gideon is so mentally stable, he swears Revenge on the entire Pines family by planning to rob the Mystery Cabin and then we find out that Gideon has a diary like Dippers, but this has a two that's one less than three and the Diggins plot doesn't happen much for a while and then Gideon comes back this time and wants to steal the Mystery Shack deed safely from Grunkle Stan in the most extra way possible.
He then he summons this little triangular guy with a bow tie and a tall hat named Bill Cipher. You see, Bill is a demon, an ancient interdimensional demon that can enter people's minds. Bill seems to have some kind of history with the Pines, but more on that later. At this point Bill jumps into Stan's mind to look up the combination to his safe, but Mabel chases after him to summarize the story. The gang stops Bill from getting the combination. Gideon calls off the deal and he just blows up the safe while everyone is busy running around and Stan's head, yeah they didn't really think about that part so Gideon has the deed now, that's a big deal, he plans to take down the Mystery Shack to create metacomments, but it goes beyond that, see Gideon's quest. for the other Diary he has number two, he wants number one and he doesn't really

know

that a third exists, but he does

know

that once all the diaries are together they can unlock the supreme power or something that we don't know yet and he suspects that the another Diary is somewhere around the Mystery Shack Dipper and Mabel tried to stop him, but she only makes things worse when Gideon steals Dipper's Diary and, without the Shack or a job, Stan can no longer take care of the twins, so they jump. a bus to return home, but once Gideon realizes that he got Diary Three and not Diary One, he assumes Dipper scammed him and runs off with the last diary for himself.
Dipper doesn't even know there's more than one Diary, so he's obviously the only logical one. The thing to do is a giant robot, yes, he gets on a giant robot, Gideon, and chases after the twins. This kid ain't cold, man, he catches Dipper and Mabel, oh no, but then Dipper bursts into the robot cockpit and starts punching Gideon. Fighting is great, but then the robot

falls

off a bridge and everyone plummets towards their Doom children. dying is cool, but then Mabel pulls out a grappling hook that she got in episode 1 and didn't appear again until the end of the season and saves Dipper and herself from dying from both a terrible fall and a giant explosion oh, that's cool, I guess I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention, but Gideon knows the town loves him, so he starts doing something quick once the police show up.
I know you. I just saw myself attack two kids with a giant robot, but they're actually the bad guys, arrest them now without the

need

for evidence. That sounds more like Grandma from Big City Greens, but who can voice Thorup Van Orman? Who except police officers are like us? We're totally inept at our jobs, so that's fine, but then Stan shows up and proves to everyone that Gideon is a fraud and a scoundrel because he was using hidden cameras to spy on everyone in town to keep up his psychic charade. The town finally turns on Gideon and he rushes to Jail the Pines to get his house back and

everything

goes back to normal, but then Stan finds out about the diaries and says, "That's stupid, you're stupid.
I'm going to take this." and leaves with Dipper's diary. He goes back to check his The secret door of the vending machine enters a secret laboratory and has the other two diaries right, he puts the books together and reveals some strange plans, he gets to work on a giant machine. , pull a lever, a portal opens and then season two and things start to click Gravity Falls After all, it only lasted two seasons, so a lot was crammed into these 20 episodes. of my fucking brain exploding. A big part of this season is Dipper trying to find the author of the magazines and get him to the bottom, oh shit, it's the feds, yeah, a couple of government agents show up having detected.
Some strange activity in Stan's portal machine, but the incomplete Grunkle remains the same, but whatever the author's search, eventually the gang finds a clue. on a broken laptop taken from one of the author's old laboratories, a small label that says McGucket Labs. McGucket, also known as Old Man McGucket, is a crazy gold prospector in Gravity Falls who is like a strangely cool inventor, but as if he were the author of the magazines. Well Maguka doesn't actually remember anything until Dipper shows her a page in the Journal called The Blind Eye, she freaks out and it's time to investigate.
They all head to the Gravity Falls Museum of Natural History, where they discovered the Blind Eye Society, a secret society dedicated to erasing the minds of the citizens of Gravity Falls whenever they see something strange or supernatural in the city, which means who do that frequently, find a record of McGucket's memories and it turns out that this crazy seeker used to be a brilliant inventor. who worked alongside the man who wrote the diaries, but one day he saw something so disturbing that he turned to the device to help him forget it, he founded the Blind Eye Society and it was his own invention that drove him crazy, but at the same time The positive side , with his memories mostly restored, gets to work repairing the laptop and what he discovers is not pretty at all, hey mister belly, hey sir, okay no, he discovers that something terrible is about to happen to him.
Gravity Falls, a giant apocalyptic threat happening in the next. 24 hours that coincide with Stan turning on his giant portal machine underneath the Mystery Shack causing strange changes in

gravity

and starting a countdown until it fully activates and then things really go crazy, the Mystery Shack is raided by a group of those government agents. and Stan is arrested for suspicious activity stealing drums of radioactive waste and creating a suspicious doomsday device like a giant portal machine that makes

gravity

go crazy uh-oh Dipper and Mabel try to find evidence to clear Stan's name , but instead they find a newspaper clipping. about a car accident that killed Stan Pines, as well as about an anonymous scammer in town, huh, so Stan Pines isn't Stan Pines.
I mean, he could be literally anyone, so we don't know, also in that box was the code to the vending machine. machine door, so the gang investigates and finds Stan's crazy lab, his giant machine, and the diaries, and at this point emotions are all over the place. Dipper is furious and is convinced that there is a criminal who stole all the diaries, but Mabel is still trying to give Stan the benefit. out of doubt, whatever is going on, they have to turn off that machine, but just before they can, Stan bursts through the door and tells him to stop, just then gravity goes crazy again throwing everyone to separate corners of the lab, except Mabel, who manages to hold on to the kill switch after pleading back and forth in one of the most dramatic things I've ever seen in a cartoon.
Mabel decides to trust Stan's word. The countdown reaches zero and the machine turns off. The laboratory is destroyed, but a mysterious figure emerges from the portal. Someone with 12 fingers and who looks almost exactly like Stan. This is Stan's brother. Stan flashes back to New Jersey in the 1960s. You have the Pines twins, Stanford and Stanley. Stanford was born with six fingers on each hand and was a genius and Stanley was a good Grunkle. Stan, these two were inseparable, but an accident with the Stanford science fair project in high school ruined their chances of getting into a prestigious university and created a rift between the two.
Stanley spent years after that selling shitty scam products that would fail so badly that he. I was run out of town while Stanford devastated the university and began studying scientific anomalies, moving to a small town in Oregon known for its strange occurrences and writing all of his findings in a journal, but simply studying strange things wasn't enough. . Stanford wanted to find the source of these anomalies, but he hit a dead end in his research and became desperate, so he summoned a mystical being for answers, Bill Cipher, and he said, hey buddy, if you let me invade your Mind you, I will.
Help you do your homework and Stanford was kind of loose This seems safe It was Bill's idea to build a portal So Stanford and his partner Fiddleford McGucket got to work McGucket accidentally got stuck in the portal one day and discovered what was really in the other On the other hand, he saw some pretty messy things, so he resigned and we know what happened after that bill fooled Stanford. He thought he was finally accomplishing his life's work, but in reality he was helping a demon emerge from our Dimension with his own crazy nightmare, so Stanford closed the door. everything and triedto hide all his work so that no one could reactivate the portal.
He had to hide the diaries so he called Stanley and asked him to take a diary and get as far away as possible but Stanley thought his brother was trying to reconnect it was like that that's it he gets very angry and they start fighting in all the chaos. Stanley accidentally pushes Stanford into the portal and the portal closes without the other two magazines, there is no way to return it. Stanford was Trapped in another dimension, Stanley started a new life in Gravity Falls, turning the house into the Mystery Shack and taking the name Stanford so he could support himself and stay in the city while he worked to find the diaries, reactivate the machine and save his brother.
On top of everything, he faked a car accident to kill his old self and start over, so yeah, this is still a show for 10 year olds on Disney Channel, oh shit, in the present, the government is still after the Pines, but Stanford or I'm going to call it Ford from now on. Use the blind eye to erase Ray's mind that Dipper had with him to erase all memories of him and save the day, hooray, but my God, we're not done yet. See, when Stan turned on the portal machine, he created a small interdimensional rift that Ford encased in a globe, the most dangerous snowball ever if that rift ever broke through.
He would give Bill Cipher an open window into Slither and our Dimension and cause problems, so yeah, we have to prepare for that. The Pines got Bill to protect the shack with some magical junk just in time for the rift to start cracking. I'll just skip the build and say Bill ended up tricking Mabel into giving him the rift and oops Butterfingers now the end of the world is a strange wizard to everyone the end of the world has never been so peculiar bill and his gang of eccentric demons jump to Gravity Falls and start wreaking havoc by turning people into stone and taking them to this weird pyramid in the sky, but because of the city's law of weirdness magnetism, I wasn't kidding before, that's a real thing, Bill and his weirdness can't extend beyond Gravity Falls, so you know Silver Linings. in the apocalypse, Dipper manages to find Wendy and Zeus and the three set out to find Mabel, who is trapped in a giant prison bubble that Bill created inside her and it's literally everything Mabel ever wanted that way, that way.
Long story short, she lets the gang take her out and escapes back to the Mystery Shack, where they find a Grunkle Stan and a group of his friends inside the characters who simply hang the proof of bills on It actually worked out well, so the gang meets up with McGucket and decides. turn the house into a fucking giant robot to fight Bill, yeah we go back to the giant robots and this works too, a fight breaks out between the house robot and the demons and it's great, and while Bill is distracted fighting the house, that's a strange sentence, the main gang breaks into Bill's Castle, frees Ford and the rest of the people who returned to Stone and begins to work on a plan to finally defeat Bill, but before they can do something, Bill reappears and captures a group of his friends.
He puts Dipper on. and Mabel in a cage and demands that Ford tell him how to escape from Gravity Falls, but luckily Dipper and Mabel managed to distract Bill and Escape long enough for the stands to come up with a new plan. Ford agrees to give Bill what he wants to save. Dipper and Mabel then Bill enters Ford's mind and wait that's not Stanford oh they dunk the bleachers they changed clothes and tricked Bill into going into Stanley Pine's mind instead of Stanford's and while Bill was inside From Stan's head, Ford used Blind Eye AI's memory eraser to completely erase Stan's mind.
You mind taking Bill with him and with that bill he finally disappeared, the gap in the nightmare realm closes, everyone is freed and everything goes back to normal, except Stan still lost all his memories, he doesn't even remember his family for about two minutes until everything. starts to come back, that didn't last long and with the world saved and everything returning to normal, it's time for summer vacation to end. Stan and Ford team up to go on adventures like they always wanted. Soos takes charge of the Mystery Shack and Dipper and Mabel leaves Gravity Falls and that's the entire story of Gravity Falls from start to finish.
Wait, if Bill Cipher was in Grunkle Stan's mind before he was erased and Stan regained all of his memories, wouldn't that mean Bill Cipher could come back too, who knows? The show ended four years ago, so it probably doesn't matter anyway. Reality is an illusion. The universe is a hologram.
