I'm Still Pretending Gravity Falls Isn't Over...

Mar 06, 2024
As of 2023, Gravity Falls is officially over a decade old, so here's your pills in your prune juice, congratulations on getting older, but yeah, everyone's favorite comedy, action drama, and mystery, any animated series Disney's Gravity Falls is old, it premiered in 2012 and ended in 2016 after two seasons, and yet despite all that time, the love for the show hasn't waned one bit, it's a classic at this point. , an absolute icon of 2010 cartoons and I miss him and hey, you clicked on this video so I'm all for it. I bet you're that far down, but Gravity Falls isn't over Rabbit Hole denial like I am today.
i m still pretending gravity falls isn t over
Let's ignore reality for a while. Let's watch a bunch of random Gravity Falls trash to fill the void and pretend it's 2014 again. It's time. living in denial if you're new to these videos yes this is a series what I like to do is take a look at a bunch of random Gravity Falls stuff outside of the show to find the best way to relive that Gravity Falls vibe without Just re-watching the show for the 20th time, really it's just an excuse to buy a bunch of toys and games and call it work, and if you're new to Gravity Falls in general, I'm not sure why you're here, but hello, Gravity .

More Interesting Facts About,

i m still pretending gravity falls isn t over...

Falls was an early 2010s Disney Channel cartoon about two twins named Dipper and Mabel who spent their summer vacation with their Shady great-uncle, Stan, at their tourist trap cabin, Mystery Shack, in the suspiciously supernatural town from Gravity Falls, Oregon. gang fighting the monster of the week until it finally turns into a massively expanding mystery plot that ends with stopping a demonic apocalypse. From another dimension. I won't go into this beyond that, but rest assured it will go places and one of the main reasons why Gravity Falls captivated fans so much was how the show left breadcrumbs in each episode for fans to decipher. , they will separate and theorize about where all the Mysteries of the program were going.

Heck, the show basically revolves around a set of diaries full of mysteries. It shouldn't be surprising that there are a ton of Gravity Falls books, it just makes sense and the last time I went on a Gravity Falls denial binge, I took a look at three of them, one being a complete recreation of the main diary from the show that basically every Gravity Falls fan has another one that was a comic book collection of new Gravity Falls stories called Lost legends that was really good and one more that was made into a book, but believe it or not, there are even more Gravity books Falls to consult. uh, at least two more, that's all I have first, we have Gravity Falls Dipper and Mabel's Guide to mystery and non-stop fun, a 2014 release that is one of those books that you know, the kind of book that really only exists in the world of licensing.
i m still pretending gravity falls isn t over
Cartoon merchandise where the book is basically there to teach you everything about the world, the characters, etc., although the only people who would buy a book like this clearly already know all that, so you know why it exists. It is written from the perspective of Dipper and Mabel as they write to you, that's right, they are talking to you, they want to be friends with you. The story goes that Dipper found an empty book lying around and decided to start writing about his Supernatural Encounters in Gravity Falls to teach. some hypothetical reader, that's you, how to be a paranormal expert like him, although I'm pretty sure he was already doing that with Diary 3, so starting a whole new book doesn't make much sense, but yeah, yeah We ignore the Canon, we can sell two books, but the Dippers entries are only half the story.
Mabel also takes a bit of ownership of this project to write segments about things like fashion and sleepovers, and there are also some entries from Seuss Grunkle Stan Candy and Grenda Gideon and even Bill Cipher himself. some dedicated activity segments that are basically just an excuse to print some blank pages. I see you, and of course, since it's Gravity Falls, there are some secret codes to crack too, but God, I don't care enough. Overall, this book is pretty cute, it's simple. It's got the Gravity Falls vibes down. It's okay, but it won't really enrich your life or anything.
I think books like these only exist for kids who really like Gravity Falls and want something that makes them feel like they're watching Gravity Falls while they're at it. They're kind of stuck in school, they don't present anything new, they don't tell an original story or anything, it's just a small portion of Gravity Falls junk food to pass the time, it's not bad, I've definitely seen worse, but It's not really going to satisfy the hunger for real Gravity Falls content. Enter Gravity Falls Dipper and Mabel in the time curse. Pirates treasure these titles just don't get shortened.
Is this of all things a Choose Your Own Adventure book? Sorry, select your own choice Adventure, do people remember these? They are books where the story has branching paths and choices for the reader to make. Yes, kind of like a video game, but they saved a fortune on the graphics you start reading. a fork in the road and you have to turn to another page to see where your choice takes you, so it's a book with multiple endings and this one is about Dipper and Mabel on a time travel adventure with an occasional supporting character from Gravity Falls with a pitiful voice.
Actor Blendon Blandin and his quest to find a long-lost Time treasure, of course, has some branching paths for my reading. Dipper and Mabel go back to the Middle Ages and encounter a dragon with deep-seated and unresolved emotional trauma. He fought a lot of At that time, the pirates found his treasure and then abandoned him because it was moral, I guess, but looking at the cover of the book, it seems like he could have just as easily read a book about the gang returning to the Wild West. or to the future, and I believe. That's a really cool thing.
I don't know if these kinds of books really exist anymore. Also, if the last book was some Gravity Falls junk food, this is a Gravity Falls junk food, not just a new original store story with multiple outcomes. which you can really take your time to explore, but the writing is spot on in the characters' dialogue and the humor is exactly like the show and they even translate some of the show's more visual jokes into descriptive text. I mean, those jokes don't really land. Same thing when you can't, you know, see them, but it's

still

impressive that they took extra care.
Now sometimes I feel like I'm reading the script for a long-lost episode or something, and all that stuff isn't even mentioned like the original artwork and stuff, it's a great moment. I was really surprised by the curse of time, the pirates' treasure. This isn't just a novelty book like I've seen before. This is a genuine, genuine Gravity Falls story that I think is worth your time. Your time I was completely satisfied with just one read through and there are

still

at least two stories I haven't even seen yet. I can easily recommend it to Gravity Falls fans, especially regarding the first book.
You know, they cost exactly the same price anyway. Next, wait a minute, this is not a book, it's just the actual show, okay, but it's actually pretty good, what we're looking at here is the official Blu-ray box set of the complete Gravity Falls series, now I know I'm trying to not only rewatch the show here, but listen to it in 2018, this special edition box set of Gravity Falls was released on Blu-ray and I bought it immediately and then it sat in storage when I moved three years later , so here's the second copy I bought five years later so I could talk about it in this video, of course there are a bunch of those weird metal circles that supposedly have all the drawings in motion, but I didn't buy this Blu-ray for Watch it, no, I'm just going to watch it like everything else related to Gravity Falls.
This box is completely themed around magazines. It comes with three separate Blu-ray cases themed around magazines one, two and three, obviously these include season one and season two. and then there are a ton of behind the scenes bonus features, lots of documentaries, commentaries for each episode, deleted scenes, featurettes, promos and much more, but probably the most interesting part of this box set was actually a complete surprise. What is this? Secrets. I wonder what. this could be me oh oh now I'm sad, that's right, this collector's edition box set actually came with an accurate replica of the until next summer note from the final episode of Gravity Falls.
I would say be accurate, it's like they took the drawing they printed on paper, that's all, so if you're really missing the show, honestly, it probably won't help you, this could make things worse, it could make you sad and you'll wonder why. I'm not holding it. a copy of this note in the camera or something, the box I ordered online didn't come with one. I guess they stopped making them after a while, so take it from that what you'll see, no one wants to see me next summer, but seriously, this. Unfortunately the box set is really cool, although they actually discontinued it recently, you might still be able to find it on eBay or Amazon for an inflated price, but otherwise this is no longer available, but we don't need a fossil like this .
Are you a dying decrepit old man? Nobody uses physical media anymore. Everything is on the Internet. So why don't we see what kind of additional Gravity Falls content we can find online? You know, actually, some of the more recent official Gravity Falls pieces. shorts online in September 2020, we posted two new and somewhat random shorts on YouTube. The first was this crossover with the game Line Rider. They were basically just these avatars of Dipper Mabel and Stan going through a Line Rider level set in Gravity Falls. The topic came out of nowhere but it was great, then two weeks later another short was uploaded.
Call Me Mabel, a complete parody of Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me, maybe sung by Mabel, that's exactly what you'd expect it to be, they got Mabel's real voice. The actress reprized her role four years after she ended the show just for this and they do the entire song. I wonder why I want to say it's a cute short. Any new Gravity Falls is welcome, but this is so instantly dated that the show had eight. years at this point and Call Me too. Maybe I'm just saying this is the most 2012 video ever uploaded in 2020. Turn to page 55.
Are we still in the past? But of course there are many more

gravity

falls

. shorts to watch once you start digging a little deeper and the ones that are definitely better for everything,

pretending

it's not over, there are so many Gravity Falls shorts that are basically little snippets of the show, yeah these are the kind of shorts which are just meant to fill air time during commercial breaks or get some views on the Disney Channel website or YouTube channels and if you miss Gravity Falls, I mean, this is literally more Gravity Falls, the series main of shorts, all focused. about the various main characters, you got Dipper's Guide to the Unexpected, a series of home videos where Dipper talks about the weird things he finds in Gravity Falls.
Mabel's Guide to Everything in which Mabel finds all kinds of new and exciting ways to endanger her life in the lives of those around her and of course you have to have Zeus there with arrangements with soos, who in her own In other words, it is the only homemade Fix-It program that I edited myself on my computer. I appreciate the bad editing jokes in this one. It makes me happy that there is Gravity Falls Public Access TV, which follows a lot of different characters around Gravity Falls and I'm sure I'm even missing some, in fact, now that I'm thinking about it, these shorts are basically the full version .
Animated versions of the various segments of each character from that book from before, eh, strange, even less reason to buy that one eventually, the bootleg, but this isn't the only Gravity Falls short content out there. I mean, we've just been looking at each other. Gravity Falls animated shorts so far and as I was flipping through them all I discovered something heartbreaking. Gravity Falls Puppet Shows, Welcome to the strange, ephemeral world of Mystery Shack, shop home with Mr Mystery for seven individual one-minute shorts that only vaguely feature this. The disturbing puppet Grunkle Stan who runs a home shopping program.
You'll occasionally hear Seuss Dipper or Mabel off camera, but they don't have puppets, so besides, it's just you and puppet Stan. And I have to be honest, this puppet design weirds me out and I know it. I know I said the same thing about the puppet that's in my damn Bluey puppet videos in general, they just give me chills, but this Grunkle Stan one actually isn't that bad, objectively it'sPretty good, but I still felt it. I felt a little uncomfortable as I looked at it and couldn't put my finger on why, but then I realized it was his mouth.
This standing puppet is designed to always be holding this toothy smile, but the puppets still have to open their mouths to speak. just cut off a part of his chin and jiggled it while his mouth is still technically closed, his smile actually extends past the part that's actually moving, so it looks like Grunkle Stan unhinged his jaw and just was falling. out of his face, so yeah, uh, the Grunkle Stan puppet sits behind the counter looking like a character from Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared and it's like frozen meat makes your teeth gray and he's just here selling his garbage ranging from full-blown scams to probably curse supernatural artifacts and from time to time he even gets calls from customers check it out well, well, Stan Pines, long note, chat, I know you, I'm sure, wait, what did he say ?, that, that was Bill Cipher.
You know Bill Cipher, the ultimate

gravity

-fall villain who tricks him into invading Stan Pine's mind and then erasing his memories, uh, yeah, that guy, I mean, there's been a very popular theory that when Grunkle Stan regained his memories, that meant Bill Cipher could find a way to come back too. Was it the biggest fan theory on Gravity? The falling story was just confirmed in Shopping Network's minute-long puppet show parody, what's okay so calm down and look deeper, it looks like the short was originally published in November 2015. Technically , the finale hadn't aired yet, so maybe not, but That was only about four months before the finale aired, so it had definitely already been finalized, meaning this might not be a confirmation, but it's still a very particular choice of words written with the events of the finale already in mind, so if you ask me that.
It can't be a coincidence. I'm coming? Maybe the writers knew what they were doing here. Maybe we can find a little more theoretical evidence by digging a little deeper. Let's see. No. I was just joking about Don't hug me. I'm scared, but no, no, that was strange. Hell, I think we're done with the Gravity Falls shorts and moved on from the Gravity Falls puppets. I guess it only makes sense to check out some Gravity Falls toys now if any of you saw my last Gravity Falls denial video, you might remember I said this. Gravity Falls toys have apparently gotten very expensive: $100 for a two-pack of figures, $158 for a Grunkle pop vinyl, $240 for two-inch tall toys. these are like legit Grunkle Stan prices, yeah unfortunately while there are a pretty good amount of Gravity Falls toys that I can see, they are all like high value collectibles, now I'm talking at least a hundred bucks per toy if them You want it still in the box and God knows you wouldn't pay those ridiculous prices.
Times have changed, that's right, in the two years since I first talked about them, I now have what I believe to be the complete set of Jazz Wears Gravity Falls figures. since 2014 and you might think, oh, so you really bought them, the prices went down? No, yeah, I just bit the bullet and bought it for the stupid price and usually this would be the part where I would start breaking them. I open to show you the toys in more detail, but yes, of course, as if I were going to open them. Buying them was pretty dumb, so you know what I did.
I bought more. In fact, I found someone on eBay who was selling an almost complete set of These Toys Are Loose, so they didn't cost that much. Could I have bought them to begin with? With my questionable financial choices now on full display, let's see what's going on with these toys. First up, we have this Gravity Falls figure pack. six two inch tall toys, you have dipper Mabel Stan Zeus Wendy and again, seriously, this Gideon is huge, the guy is almost as big as Stan and Seuss, but actually, I really like these. I've seen my fair share of toys based on cartoons and I think.
For me, they don't always turn out great, yes. Q images of the Muscle Man Regular Show toy and the Nightmare Fuel Phineas toy, but these ones from Gravity Falls are surprisingly accurate, these characters translated the 3D very well, I mean, they're not perfect, we've already done that. We discussed scale issues, that's something you can expect from small toys like these, other than that, I mean, uh, Mabel's face just looks a little melted. Seuss is pretty perfect, but that's pretty normal for Zeus. Oh wait, there are three-inch figures available. What the heck are we wasting our time on these four-packs of two Gravity Falls figures, slightly larger toys with a more than slightly higher price tag?
We have six more toys here are Dipper Mabel and Grunkle Stan again, but now each one comes with a little friend, obviously, Mabel comes. with his pet pig waddling around, Dipper comes with the rainbow gnome who throws up if for some reason they were really proud of that joke back in the day, right? And lastly we have Grunkle Stan and Bill Cipher, well isn't that a coincidence? I know them. The toys came out like two years before the end, but since we were talking about it before and we're already living in denial, I think it's okay to continue with this illusion.
Bill Cipher is 100% alive and Grunkle Stan's mind and that means we'll have six more. seasons of Gravity Falls is like Groundhog Day, well, with an interdimensional demonic triangle, well, joking aside, I really like these toys, really, they nailed them, I mean, yeah, the eyes can stick out a little. Grunkle Stan looks like a cheap animatronic and I. I mean, I suppose you'd have to try pretty hard to get Bill Cipher wrong, although mine is broken so you know there's that, but I'm really impressed with how well these characters were translated into 3D toys. I like them a lot, which is crazy because these were made by the exact same company as those nightmare Regular Show toys, yes, the same people who made this incredibly accurate Grunkle Stan figure, they also made exposed gums.
Bite of 87 Rigby, it's amazing how much just a couple of years and an entire TV special makes fun of your work. can do for a multi-billion dollar toy company and there's one more thing about these toys that you may have noticed: a little emblem on each one that says scroll within the scroll like in the Bible, like I said before when I ordered these toys on eBay. I had already decided I wasn't going to open them, but once I finally got my hands on them and saw that little blurb, I thought no, the moment a toy has something inside the box that you can't see, I feel like I got it.
I have to open it and I usually live by the philosophy that life is too short not to open your toys, but not when they cost over four hundred dollars. Yes, no, that doesn't happen; Fortunately, a lot of those loose toys I bought came with a couple of the Scrolls too, so we may not be able to see them all, but I think this is a good compromise: you guys can see what the heck these Scrolls are and I can move on sabotaging my own content causing the idea to open something. but I never did, leaving my audience a little dissatisfied, let's take a look.
Daily, that's it, God, it's a relief. I mean, yeah, they're cute, but I already have a big book where I can see all of this in much greater detail without it being folded. Up because you know collectors love already damaged items and it's not really a cartoon toy from nine years ago, but why these Scrolls? They have always just been diary pages, where the Scrolls were even part of the program. I can not remember it. canon 2 out of ten, well now that I've wasted several hundred dollars, I think it's time to do something I never do in these cartoon videos, watch cartoons, but don't worry, we're not watching Gravity Falls yet because that would defeat the purpose. from the video, I think the framing device for these videos is a little thin now that I think about it, we all know that Gravity Falls was an extremely successful show and that success has had irreversible effects on the world of modern cartoons, as I'm pretty sure.
Most of the major Disney cartoons released in the last five or six years simply wouldn't exist without Gravity Falls, at least not without some major changes, so if you're here in Gravity Falls denial looking for something to fill the void, Honestly, one of the best things you can do right now is watch a completely different show that has the same vibe, trust me, there are a lot of things Disney made sure of. I've talked at length about most of these shows in other videos, so I'll keep it a little brief here, but Disney Channel's cartoon programming lately has been influenced by super gravity

falls

just about a year and a half later for Gravity Falls to end.
Disney gave us DuckTales, a 2017 reboot of the 1980s classic about Donald Duck's nephews, Huey Dewey and Louie. going on adventures with their uncle Scrooge McDuck, from the one percent, and that premise sounds like if the triplets or twins of Gravity Falls were embarking on crazy supernatural adventures with an eccentric uncle, yes, it sounds familiar, but if Gravity Falls was inspired by little in the original DuckTales, perhaps. DuckTales 2017 just completely copied the Gravity Falls quiz. This new DuckTales has the same premise as the original, but now it's basically updated with just a bunch of things to make it more like Gravity Falls.
The shows have very similar senses of humor. The stories and mysteries are a much deeper and higher stakes now Huey always carries and references his groundhog guide Junior the same way Dippers always carries and references journals, they even wear similar hats, come on , are you understanding this one about the secondary characters? Basically, Launchpad just became a duplicate of Seuss. All of the child characters clearly have the voices of men in their 30s. I mean, this show really is just DuckTales Gravity Falls Edition and it's fantastic, it's a really amazing show with good storytelling, stellar animation, and perfect tone.
Casting David Tennant as Scrooge solidified the show as a classic before it even premiered, OMG, then a couple of years later in 2019, Disney released Amphibia, another new animated series about a group of kids who end up in an exciting new world of supernatural mystery. This time, residents Dipper and Mabel are three friends named Anne Sasha and Marcy, and instead of Oregon, they end up in an alternate dimension filled with talking frog people, so Oregon is taken in by a family of frogs called Planters Poly Sprig. and Hop Pop and everyone works to find her friends and bring her home, but of course they get caught up in a mysterious plot with tons of twists and drama as they learn that this magical place has a dark past if you're Gravity Falls. fan and this doesn't check the boxes.
I don't know what to tell you again. Amphibia has basically an identical sense of humor and storytelling to Gravity Falls, but it's actually a little better in my opinion. I don't know, I know Gravity Falls is a near-perfect show in my opinion, but there's something about amphibians that resonates with me more. I don't want to go too much deeper into it because I'll end up spoiling something and I've done that a lot in other videos, but all I'm going to say now is that this is my favorite Disney cartoon of all time. I'm not saying it's objectively better than Gravity Falls.
I just like it more, you should definitely watch it when it comes to being like Gravity Falls, it's not quite. as one-on-one as DuckTales can be, but I mean, there's literally an entire Gravity Falls crossover episode where they turn Grunkle Stan into a frog, what more could you ask for than the one you guys were probably waiting for in 2020? Disney released The Owl House significantly. here for not only being the most popular cartoon Disney has released recently, but also for being the show that has the most realistic DNA of Gravity Falls created by Dana Terrace. The Owl House is the story of a human girl named Loose who travels to a magical kingdom. full of fantasy garbage, he befriends a witch named Ida and a little demon named King Loose, then has to find his way home and learn how to become a witch, while once again becoming embroiled in a giant mystery plot. with tons of twists and turns. drama when you find out that this magical place has a dark past, you notice a trend with these shows now, all these cartoons have similar settings, sense of humor, etc., but the Owl House gets more Gravity Falls fans will like it this point because it actually has a number of characters voiced by Alex Hirsch, the creator of Gravity Falls, and voiced by Stan Seuss, Bill Cipher and more, yeah, you know, it's simple, but sometimes it justHearing a familiar voice on a show can be a big help, as is the case with most shows.
At least one character voiced by Strongbat and that's why I love them so much, let me relieve you of that located shoulder, but despite starting with similar setups and the general amphibians of Vibes DuckTales and Owl House, they become totally unique shows own right. They're not Gravity Falls clones or anything, but if you like Gravity Falls and want something new to scratch that same itch, these are perfect, the owl house is probably the one that will hit you the hardest, but they're all fantastic shows , but what happens if you want to leave Disney? God forbid you rebel against The Sovereign.
What's out there scratching that Gravity Falls itch? Say Netflix, that brings us to Inside Job, a wholesome Netflix animated series created by Shion Takeuchi that tells the charming story of The Sovereign. Shadow Government, yes, you know how the owl house was about a girl who discovers that everything she read in fantasy books was real. The inside job is kind of like that, just replace the fantasy books with shady internet forums on this show, every conspiracy theory you know. Ever Heard is Real and our main character, Reagan, works for the company that controls everything, Cognito Inc, and we get to see her mingle with her co-workers, fight for respect in the workplace, try to fix her love life and replace the president. her with a robot clone, she cuts off the reptile arms and builds a robot clone of her Tinder date so she doesn't have to face real human interaction.
Fun for all the family. Now you might be wondering why I'm talking about this. Yes, Gravity Falls had some conspiracy theories, the secret society Vibes, but that doesn't mean every show with that kind of thing is going to fill the Gravity Falls void. Well, shut your mouth, dear viewer, because I've been keeping a secret of my own on this show. The executive producer is partly Alex Hirsch, so yes, the creator of Gravity Falls is in on this too, he even voices some of the characters, if you ever wanted to hear old McGucket's voice coming out of the guy who murdered a president and the creator of the show was also a writer for Gravity Falls, so there's a lot more Gravity Falls blood in this show than you might think.
The main difference is that this is not a kids or family show, it's a 100% adults only cartoon. I'm talking rated M for mature levels, not four kids, I don't think most Gravity Falls fans whether they're like little babies or something, the show is over a decade old, but I still know if you prefer your cartoon characters to keep their clothes on and watch their language Inside Job may be a little much for you, that being said , the show still has that Gravity Falls thing, those mysterious conspiracy theories. The vibrations that gravity delves into become an inside job, and the characters are great, too. the animation is really nice and can get quite serious when it wants to be like Gravity Falls.
You know, if Gravity Falls could swear it was super violent and could actually talk about things like Instagram and Facebook instead of making up fake parody versions. Don't know. I know for some reason only adult shows can do that, so yes, if you miss out on Gravity Falls, these four shows, DuckTales, the amphibian Owl House, and the inside job, will be right up your alley, and even though it's They may not fill the void completely, they will definitely bring back. some of those Gravity Falls vibes, there's just one problem, although all of these shows ended too, yes, DuckTales ended in 2021, the amphibian ended in 2022, and Owl House ended earlier this year, an inside job, that's a mess itself, the program was launched. in 2021 and Netflix renewed it for a second season only for Netflix to say oh wow, never mind and reverse their renewal by canceling the second season and cutting the show after just 18 episodes, condemning the inner work to the worst fate a cartoon could. have.
Getting canceled on a cliffhanger, ugh, that's the worst. I mean, at least the other shows had to end properly, but geez, ugh, geez, so to pretend Gravity Falls hasn't ended, I have to pretend like four other shows haven't ended either, huh? I think this might be the point where I admit I have a problem.
