Feb 27, 2020
Hello, welcome back to Call the Clutter Fairy, where I help you free yourself from

clutter

so you can live stress-free. I've been very busy making videos of myself purging and I can already tell you that I feel so much better in my own home with the amount of stuff I've been through and gotten rid of, let's take a look at where I started, well this one It's the difficult area for me. I talked about this area once in my passive purge video because this is literally what I've had the courage to have spent money on it or I think someone could really use it and it's literally been in these cabinets moving around for five years so I'll tell you.

I said I was going to be totally transparent about what I had my struggles as well as the ugly

part

s and this is one of the ugly

part

s that embarrasses me the most so let's take a look are you ready oh my gosh yes. I love antique dinnerware and kept thinking that one day I would make something cool with it. I had a hutch, but no, this is me. I'm not judging anyone who has this, but I don't see the value in having a big piece of furniture with things I just look at, so I got rid of my Hutch and put things here so I can use them.

I've never used them, so anything I haven't used, even though I still love it, I'm going to let it go. There are some pieces. I'm going to try to sell it. I have a really cool depression cup that I think I could get some money off of, but I'm actually only giving it a couple of weeks and if it doesn't sell, they'll donate it, so let me. Start to go down and tell you what I have and forgive the rear view, there's no way to finish this without you guys being able to see, you know everything so anyway let me start, oh my god, yeah, I'm just going to take it all down a one element at a time and then I can start making decisions about what stays or what goes so this is my pink cherry blossom depression tumbler and I really love it and use it so there's no

getting

rid of it from that and It all started thanks to this antique bowl that was my Greek or my grandmother's so there's no way I'm

getting

rid of this and I have plates, glasses and bowls that I've collected over the years so This is by no means one of my favorites and I'll be sure to start using it much more frequently than I currently do, but that definitely stays here.

I really like the idea of pink and green, so I bought three plates that I have never used. These were just because I got them on sale somewhere and they have to go, so I'm going to clean them out and see if I can sell them. These are the ones that turn amnios under blue light, super cool, but not for me, this is the dumbest story of all time. I really love Mary Englebright's stuff. I really love them, but the particular pattern I love so much is the pattern I love so much. It's this home, I love family.

I love this. I love black and white. I think that's why I started. Making some of the green ones because I could make the pink and the blue and I love this so one time I was going to make donations I was dropping things off and there was a family member and a friend that was unloading and they had a bunch of bright happy things that I had just handed it to the person and I said, "Oh my God, that's Mary Englebright" and the guy says "Yeah, I still have this vase that I haven't given her, do you want it?", I said absolutely, let me give you money for it, said.
No, no, just take it, so I did, honey, it's so cute it still has the original price tag. I don't know if you can see it was like $44 and change, so I was so excited, that was 12 years ago. and I've been trying to fit this into my core ever since, except it's purple. I don't wear purple. I absolutely do black and white with pops of blues and pinks, but nothing I have is purple, but it was so cute and it was such a cool story that I've been forcing myself to take up space in my cabinets ever since, so I don't do it anymore. will disappear, okay, this is another one, Mary Englebright, they are not my colors, I don't do anything pink and yellow, of course, it's honey, but it doesn't fit with my decor, you can see, I've even tried adding black to make it more my style, It's a lot so it has to go, however my pink depression glass pattern on this plate is a keeper for sure.
It fits my decor and stays on well, that didn't take that long. I started this video ten minutes ago, so I know I fast-forwarded through a good portion of it, but it didn't take me long to get through it all. In fact, I've already started making decisions about what I want to keep and what I want to let go, so the things I left in the

kitchen

are my absolute favorite pieces now that I have two sets of dishes. Don't ask me why one of them was from when he was married. We had this beautiful set of twelve because we always had people over at our house, but you know we broke up a long time ago and I've kept that set thinking. maybe as my daughters get older they will want some of the pieces or maybe I will entertain them.
I have not done it. Someone else gave us a Corel game, which was great because me and my kids wash dishes now. I'm always afraid of them breaking one so Corel has been a good cushion for me so my kids don't get cuts and I don't have to replace plates, but I hate them so it's a little ironic that I'm saving something I hate in case my kids break something. I'm going to let them go with the game I love about my marriage. I'm going to stick with six that way, you know what happens if I don't want to do the dishes one night?
I have the second night, but also if I have company I have enough plates, if I want to do something formal, the true reality is that we usually use paper plates when we entertain, so I will get rid of that extra set and just keep the pieces that are valuable to me and although it is not a complete set for donation, I will still give them because many crafters will not get individual items for whatever their need may be. I know someone I will still make use of those other pieces, so let's take a look at the pieces I'm going to donate or try to sell.
Let's go well, here are the pieces that I took out and that I don't need. used in five years, it's literally time to let it go, so here's the set I was talking about, it's the 12 set I had when I was married. I'll let them go. I'm going to keep six bowls. I'm going to keep them. six small plates and I have six large plates here in my most decorative area, but the rest of those plates, the salt and pepper shakers, all the tea cups are already in the donation, they go. I have these old plates.
I don't even know why I took it honestly, but I thought it was cute. It will be a donation. I'm going to try to sell the Merry Englebright. I'm going to try to sell the depression glass and the rest will go directly to donation, so this frees up almost two full shelves that I had in that cabinet and although there are a couple of things that I like, oh but I still like them, I'll feel very happy when I'm done, so I'll pack them up. okay, so I cleaned this completely. I took my magic eraser and scrubbed all the shelves when I first moved in.
I left clear contact paper on so it was very easy to clean off the back, however I don't know why but when I have a piece of glass or plastic against a painted wall the dust for some reason discolors the wall as well I didn't want to scrub too deeply and remove the paint, but I did my best to make it a nice clean surface. Returning the things I keep now because I've made a lot of room here. I've been keeping glasses and mugs here, which means that every time I cook, which, if you know me, isn't very often, but when I cook everything is up here and it's hard to get to, so I always have to have my small and practical handle to be able to reach things well.
I'm going to make good use of this cabinet by moving all my cups and glasses here so I can take my food to this cabinet, so if you thought that cabinet was bad, order this, my goodness, this is really what I can reach, everything gets in here and I have things that just should. I won't be here, so yeah, welcome, so I'm going to put out all my glasses and cups not too long ago, so I'm feeling good about this. I'm going to get rid of my wine glasses. I invite friends very rarely. I'll keep you posted, but the rest will disappear, but some are special to me, so I'm just listing my absolute favorites and the rest will disappear.
I have also accumulated a lot of coffee and tea. and which was great, but I switched to my Keurig a couple of years ago and used the pods pretty exclusively. I get the recyclable compostable pods from Amazon so I don't add plastic to my recycling bin, they really just disintegrate, so all these cute little refillable baskets I was using so I don't add to the overall footprint or just take up space in my cabinet, so I'll go ahead and save one in case I ever run out of my capsules so I could have some coffee but the rest I'll leave off so here we go okay I'm fighting the urge and being honest so I'm reviewing my wine glasses and I don't know what it is. came, but I always think that friends come and you, it's not that I don't have friends, it's just that I don't have friends that come regularly, we usually go out, so the few times I have people come.
We actually had coffee and just chatted, so holding on to all these glasses is silly. I had a party a year ago and bought a small complete set. I don't even remember where I got it from but there was a used website and I think I spent four dollars and bought a dozen of these used lenses and we only used a couple of them and they've been there ever since so I have to let it go , but curiously since I'm getting rid of these glasses. I came across these two that are plastic and I think it's great if someone comes.
I don't have to worry about them breaking, but like you, I'm talking myself out of getting rid of these. stuff I bought these probably two years ago. I have never used them, my children try to use them and it is very wrong for me to see an underage child drinking from a wine glass, so he usually doesn't let them, so they have to go. This is a difficult one for me, they are going well. I did it, it was eight minutes, it's pretty fast. If you're honest about the things you need or use, it really is, especially when you start putting it out there and you realize it.
I have a lot of junk in there, those are the easiest decisions, just automatically get rid of those things you're on the fence about and put them in a separate place, so now everything I'm making a decision on goes in my dining room. room table everything I know for sure I want to keep it I'm putting myself here I'm going to check the expiration dates I'll check the freshness and if it's still something viable I'll find it a new home, but now I'm going to go ahead and clean out this cabinet and once That's clean and ready, I'll start with the spices, oils, and scariest items.
I just finished cleaning it out and am already playing with some containers I need to see. fits in here so you have easy access to things whenever you have a cabinet, it's very hard to have to reach back, things fall out or get lost, so having a container, a sturdy container that you can pull out when you're cooking or Making but you can easily access all the little ones is always the best way to do it. I know they sell those items that go up like stairs. The problem is that you still have to reach back and risk knocking things over and they actually lose. lots of storage space because if you have tall things, they won't sit on the top shelf of the fixed organizer and again you lose that space for things, so I recommend a deal that you can take out and slide back in if you really have in the nice cabinets, You can put a small piece of felt on the bottom because over time it can leave a little mark when you go in and out, but it's a pretty rare thing to happen with that, so if you're worried just go in. expensive piece built and put it at the bottom, so now I'm going to attack the worst.
I know you thought these are bad, you're ready, this is the one that's super bad, mostly stuff from when I moved here five years ago. I'm going to assume I have to throw it all away because it's probably expired. These are oils and vinegars and things that if I need that item I should buy it fresh if you have a lot of cooking items in your pantry that you just don't have. used for a couple of years, do yourself a favor, get rid of them and start again the next time you need to make the recipe, just always make sure, obviously, to check and make sure you have it.
I used to assume that I have those things. and I'm going to stick my hand in here and it's bad or I didn't have it, but you know that, so I'm going to start purging, so I have this artificial sweetener from a diet that I was on that expired in 2040, it might be time of let it go most of the stuff i got out of here was absolutely expired again if you've ever seen any of my videos i'm one of my little confessionals i'm not a cook i don't really like it i love eating poop I love eating, but the actual cooking process, the multiple steps it takes to cut things and sauté them and do this and slow cook and no, no, no, I'm one of those 3-ingredient 30-minute cooks that I steam? that's my reach, so I have these things because everyoneThey said that while I get that little inspiration, but clearly once I was done with the recipe I should have gotten rid of this stuff and passed it on to someone who cooks frequently so they could use it, this is a lot to throw away and I feel bad, but not good at all.
I definitely shouldn't give it to my family, so bye, okay, so I have this huge box of Splenda packets, don't ask me. Why was he clearly using it a lot? I actually still use them so I'm not going to throw them away and they haven't expired yet but this giant box would take up an entire shelf in my cabinet so that's silly so I'm doing it. I'm taking them out and I'm putting them inside one of my favorite little dollar tree containers that fit perfectly inside this container that fits perfectly here, so I'm going to use this for all my teas, coffees and then when I need to fill my cute jar that sits next to my Keurig.
I could take my sweeteners and fill the jar. This is the cute jar I used next to my Keurig, my little coffee station. I'll show you at the end. from the video this came from Dollar Tree it's a cute little jar and you know, I place them carefully on the sides and then I fill them on top. This usually lasts me about two months when I have it in my Keurig station for it to fit. a lot and then I'll just have to access what I just set up with the overflow since I need to fill this, but if you fill what you need on a regular basis and in a nice, accessible way, then you can go ahead and store it. overflow somewhere else so it doesn't take up your most needed space okay that took a little longer than I expected again when it's your own stuff guys it's a lot harder so sign up a friend a family member or hire someone who can do this for you.
I've literally spent two hours just proving that you got rid of him. I do not need it? Maybe I can find a different place for it. It's a little hysterical because when I do this with my clients. They're not quick decisions, but I got through it, so let me show you what I did. Now I have this just for the dinnerware I use. I received our diary. I narrowed this down to just six plates, six plates, the smallest one. dessert plate and six bowls I got rid of the plates I got rid of the saucers, the small cups, the salt and pepper shakers I didn't need any of that, so that's all gone.
I kept my Depression cherry blossom glass that I loved so much and saved the few pieces that match, this is what I'm fighting for with these cheerful Englebright plates. It took me a long time to get them, they were very hard to find, you had to buy them one at a time and even after all the time. that I spent looking for things that I ended up with as plates, one broke four of the dessert plates and I found a bowl for some reason, the bowls were very hard to find and of course that broke and I was left with two plates. which don't have chips but I'm struggling to get rid of them and the reason is I'm struggling so much because I really use them as decor pieces for example in my

kitchen

I use one of them and I always use a dry erase. marker and write Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday, countdown to the weekend, so I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with these couches right now.
If you notice that I have the top shelf all the way open, I'll put them there and if I notice that I'm not using the overflow pieces in my decor in my presentations of things, then I'll let them go, so that's what I'm struggling with, but I'm very happy with the amount of space I ended up getting. Out of all of this here, just like I showed you before, I have this that just has my T's and my sugars and my little K cups. This is so much better than what I had before. It had 20 boxes.
No lie, the small K cups and the small T cups and half of them were open and when I wanted to go get something I had to go through several boxes just to find what I wanted, so now I grabbed one of these little trays from Dollar Tree and lined up the T's and I just didn't go crazy or sort them alphabetically or anything, but I grouped the similar T's together so that all the lemon T's are together, all the chamomile teas are together, and the green teas are together to that when I am someone else who wants a cup of tea, it is very easy to get them as I showed you.
I have all my little sweeteners lined up. I wasn't trying to go crazy on Pinterest, but they fit better this way, so for me it was really worth the 5 minutes of time to get them. To make them fit properly there are two layers so I shouldn't be running out of them anytime soon and the few K cups I had turned out to fit perfectly here so I have all my drinks here. my big mixing bowls that before we were on top of my refrigerator and it was really hard to get to them so this is going to make it a lot easier to get to and have access to and then these are the few oils and vinegars that overflow for cooking and things that Again, it's hard to get you off the stove.
I have a small list that I keep here and I have to replace some things because they were bad. I mean, honestly, I was discovering that I had stuff from 2013-2014. I'm not a cook so this is amazing to me. I have extra space if I need it and then this is the cabinet I was crazy about with all the kitchen supplies. I put the two hurricanes. I don't know if you can see it. I see if I can pivot around the two hurricanes I love from Princess House. I put them out every fall, so I have them there, it's much easier to get to them.
I have the two drink containers for when I have you. I know a gathering or if the kids want to set up a lemonade stand and these are the easiest things to reach I'm going to start here. I'll see how it works for me. I like to change my decor frequently, so I put some of my little decorative things here and if this doesn't work, if I find that it's not easy for me to get to them or I'm not using those things, I'll get rid of them so I have lots of surplus which I didn't expect to have which I'm really excited because the cabinets above the refrigerator are empty and I'll leave it at that this is an old 1940's bungalow I probably mentioned that apparently a few times the stove used to be in this area where the refrigerator is so When they put the cabinet on top they left it open, so I put some kind of vinyl on top that every time the wind blows you can hear the vinyl flapping and it gets dirty and dusty in there, so I'm going to close it again.
I'm going to relive that whole hole and hope nothing comes out, but it's not a good place because every time I take something out of that cabinet it's dirty, dusty, and gross, so why worry? with that, so I'll close that cabinet and forget about it, that's all I'll do for today. Tomorrow I'm going to go ahead and start going through the lower cabinets and I'm going to go through my pantry, which I haven't done in a while, but I can already feel the weight lifting off of me from not having all this extra stuff lying around.
It was always a selection process to find what I wanted to wear and I had to touch so many things. That got in my way, so I hope you liked today's video. If so, be sure to like it. Leave me a comment about the areas that are a trigger in your area. I'm always very interested to know what you're struggling with. and how you could help or suggestions on how to address those difficult areas of your home. See you next week, bye, okay, I'm in the middle of my organizing project and when I'm working with clients, my one and only mess fairy, Mary and I.
I always laugh because there's always one thing we find that a person collects more than anything else and it doesn't show up until we've been categorizing for a while. I just found out what my one thing is. I have a problem with Linda. How much? mix in someone else Honestly, I didn't even realize that oh my gosh guys. I have an excuse for this, but apparently I keep buying it at the 99 cent store and throwing it in a bin. I have a problem.
