Galaxy Buds Review: One Month Later (The Best Buds?)

Feb 27, 2020
These are Samsung's Galaxy headphones and I have been using them for a little over a

month

and today we are going to talk about whether they are worth buying or not. I'm Erik from TECA Cosido TV and this is my budget Galaxy.

review

a

month

later

, so the two most common questions I get about the Galaxy ear

buds

actually have to do with the charging case now. If you're familiar with Samsung's Ikon you closed it, there are two LEDs on the front and very often one of them. would start flashing red to tell you that the button has not seated properly and is not charging, so you would have to open the case again, adjust the button and then close the case again and then wait for everything to line up correctly and that things would start loading well.
galaxy buds review one month later the best buds
I'm happy to say that that problem is completely gone on the Galaxy headphones. I have put these headphones in and out of this case dozens and dozens of times over the last month and not once have I done so. a charging issue with either ear

buds

now the second common issue with the icon the case and then put it on a table for about two weeks and then did it again two weeks

later

, your friends could be dead, that happened to me many times, you didn't take about two weeks and my iconic 2018s would just be totally dead, so I did a test to see if there was still a problem with the Galaxy earbuds and the way I did it was to completely drain the battery in the case and then put the earbuds in with about 50% battery and then came back 24 hours later to see how much the battery was drained and it was only drained about 5% now if you do the math if you had a fully charged earbuds but your case was completely drained you put the earbuds in the case and just set that down it would go about 20 days before your earbuds die Now, if you fully charge both the earbuds and the case and then place it on the table, you should be able to get at least 40 days of battery life before the earbuds completely die.

More Interesting Facts About,

galaxy buds review one month later the best buds...

Now it's 40 days. a pretty decent amount of time if you bought these headphones and they sit on a desk for 40 before you pick them up again, you probably shouldn't talk about these headphones in the first place. Next, let's talk about battery life. Samsung says you should be able to get them. about six hours of listening time with the Galaxy earbuds and I believe it now. I haven't been able to have these headphones in my ears listening to music for the full six hours, but I did about four hours and still had plenty of battery left, so the fact that it made it to six wouldn't surprise me at all and when I was listening to that music I was listening to at 43 percent volume, which for me was a little loud, I probably should have turned it down a bit.
galaxy buds review one month later the best buds
I got over that, especially since I was sitting at a desk, but there was nothing noisy around me now. If you're listening at 80, 90, or 100 percent volume, then yes, you probably won't get the full six hours, but that being said. If you're listening to those kinds of lines like these, they get pretty loud, you're probably damaging your ears. If you're listening at that volume level, when it comes to charging the Galaxy earbuds, you have two options. You can charge wirelessly or you can charge with USB (see on the back). Now USB C charging is almost twice as fast as wireless charging, so if you're in a pinch and really have to charge fast because you're about to exercise, definitely try plugging into USB C instead of wireless charging. because it will be much faster.
galaxy buds review one month later the best buds
Another thing you should know about wireless charging is that the Galaxy Buds are limited to the slowest level of wireless charging, which I believe. It's about four and a half watts so it doesn't matter if you put it on the back of a

galaxy

s 10 using power sharing or on a slow wireless charging pad or a fast wireless charging pad where they will always charge. same rate now just to give you some numbers with wireless charging it takes about two hours and 15 minutes to charge both earbuds to 100% and then they got a charge for about another 45 minutes to get the case to 100% like Well then you're looking at about three hours to charge both the earbuds and the case if you're doing it with wireless charging, switch to wired charging via USB C and reduce that time to one hour and thirty minutes to charge both. buttons at 100 percent and one hour and 45 minutes to charge both earbuds and the case, so you can see it's just twice as fast.
I also did some testing to see how much listing time you can get with just 10 minutes of either. wireless charging or USB C, so I completely turned off the battery on the headphones and the K before putting it on a charger, so from then on, putting it on a wireless charger for 10 minutes gives you about 40 minutes of time listening at 43 percent volume now. 43 percent volume is pretty loud if you're in a quiet place, working at a desk or something, but if you're exercising you probably don't want anything closer to 60% and if it's in a very loud environment where If you're working out, you might even want to go a little higher, so that 40 minutes can go down a bit depending on the volume you're listening at to get the same 40 minutes of listening time with USBC charging only takes five minutes and if charge for 10 minutes with USBC charging, you'll get an hour and 15 minutes of listening time, so if you go to the gym and normally work out for an hour or less, what you really need is about 10 minutes with a USBC charger and you will be ready to do all the training now if you are someone who drives to a gym to work out and you are going to use your Galaxy headphones there and consider yourself. the type of person who tends to forget to charge things, then I highly recommend getting the Anchor Quick Charge USB Car Charger.
Now this is the car charger that I have been using for the last year and a half and it charges all of my devices quickly and is super sturdy, has a very solid build and is not sponsored in any way. Anchored doesn't pay me. I haven't even contacted anything that is legitimately the charger that I use and I highly recommend it to anyone who Ever asked me about a good USB car charger, that's the one that I always point people to if this charger is something that they are interested. I have Amazon affiliate links in the description for both the tethered charger and the Galaxy Buds and if you buy.
Through those links I receive a small commission at no additional cost to you, so if you're looking for a way to support the channel, that's a great way to do it, let's talk a little about convenience, these are definitely the most convenient . The true wireless earbuds I've ever used, so for a quick example, here's the right year button on the Galaxy Buds and then here's the right earbud on the Icon you can see this. A little better, the icon X xx 18 are substantially larger, which is part of what makes the

galaxy

buds so much more comfortable.
Another example, here are the Jabra elite 65 T, again they are significantly larger in a couple of dimensions, making them not as comfortable. As the galaxy sprouts now, I also tested the Bose Sound Sport Freeze. I don't have them anymore so I can't show you side by side what it looks like, but they weren't terrible either. comfortable for long listening, so the worst of all for me, the worst of all, the most uncomfortable for long listening would be the two hours already I'm completely done. I just can't use these headphones anymore. I have to take them off because my ears hurt with the Jabra headphones.
I can last about two hours and feel pretty good, but at two and a half I start to feel pretty. uncomfortable for three hours, I have to take them out with the Bose Sound Sport Freeze. It took me about two to three hours before taking them out as well due to ear fatigue, but with the Galaxy Buds I mentioned earlier I got four hours. From listening with these earbuds in my ears I can put them on and off several times during that four hour period and there was no ear fatigue with the galaxy bugs which was shocking for me to finally find truly wireless earbuds that don't bother me. my ears hurt now, maybe I just have small ears and you've used these other headphones and haven't had any problems with ear fatigue, then great, you probably have more normal sized ears than I have, but if you're one of those People who have tried truly wireless earbuds before and over time, you notice that your ear when you pick them up just hurts, definitely give the Galaxy earbuds a try because they are much more comfortable than any other truly wireless earbuds used.
I haven't personally tried Apple's earbuds, so I can't speak to how comfortable they are compared to the Galaxy Buds, but I have seen that there have been several YouTubers who have already posted videos comparing the Galaxy. headphones directly to Apple headphones, so if you do a quick search, I'm sure you can find the answer you're looking for now, just like with x icon + X icon xx 18, you get three different wingtip options, now The one I have here is basically no wing tip which makes the butt as small as possible and then you also get kind of a medium and large size so if you have bigger ears than mine these They will still fit your ears.
That's okay, because you have three sizes to choose from and you also have three different sigh tips so you can find the right fit for your ear canal. So far, it's all been good news for the Galaxy Buds, but now let's talk. about some features i.e. some features that are missing from the Galaxy earbuds, so if you are familiar with the iconic 20 18, you will know that they had four gigs of internal storage, which means you can load music directly onto the teen icons x28 . like the headphones themselves and then you could go for a run, go out somewhere, leave your phone, leave your watch, leave everything behind and you can still listen to up to a thousand songs with just the headphones and nothing else with that feature. gone on the galaxy buds there is no internal storage on the galaxy buds another feature that is missing is exercise tracking so the icon current speed, not only that, but The icon x28 for teens had a workout assistant built into the buttons, so you could start a workout from the buttons and, again, you don't have your phone with you, you don't have your watch, you just had the feature also disappeared on the Galaxy Buds.
Another missing feature is the ability to swipe up or down on a volume up or down button. That's something you can do on the Icon X 20 18s, but you can't do it here now. I think the reason they did that is because the surface area you can touch is smaller on the Galaxy Buds than the Icon It's pretty comfortable and if I shake my head hard like there's no way this is going to come out of my ear, but if I try to slide it up or down I can already feel it, there you go, it just came.
I tried to swipe up and it started falling out of my ear, so I think they just did some testing and realized that, oh hey, this swipe gesture won't work anymore because Shae the Buds or whatever. They might stay in your ear fine if you're not swiping all over the place, but as soon as you start swiping up or down you take them off, so I guess that's why they remove the feature, but it's still It sucks to see that feature go away, the last feature missing from the Galaxy earbuds is the ability to long press the earbud to enter a menu that gives you a bunch of different options of things you can do with the earbuds that you now hold down for a long time. does things on the Galaxy Buds and I'll talk about that in aminute, but the menu option is now completely gone and the way it worked previously, like on the iconic 20 18s, is to use a long press on the headset and keep holding it. until you heard the menu item you wanted and you would release it and that would do whatever action, so one of the options was to activate a voice assistant, but if you kept holding the touchpad you would also have an option to lock the touchpad so that Do not respond to any accidental touches, such as when you are exercising, by holding it down longer you will be able to activate ambient sound which channels sound from outside to the headphones so you can hear your surroundings better, this is particularly important if you are a runner and you want to be able to hear the cars around you.
If you continue to hold it beyond that option, you will also have the option to start or stop a workout and if you have Once you have started training, you will have the option to hear the total time you have been training, the distance you have traveled, the amount of calories you have burned and your current speed. Now the Galaxy Buds handle this a little differently instead of cycling. Through a menu where you can choose a bunch of different things, if you hold down one of the Galaxy buttons you can only do one particular thing, but you have a few options so you can send to activate a voice assistant, turn on the sound while holding the button and then turn it off again when you release it, turning the volume up or down depending on budget. -Pressing or turning ambient sound on or off permanently is time to get back to some positives, so the Galaxy Buds have an auto-pause feature, so if you have both earbuds in your ear, you take one out, nothing happens, It just keeps playing, which is good.
Personally I prefer it this way, but if you take out both earbuds the music will stop, but when you put them back in you'll have to tap one of them for the music to start playing again. Another positive thing I noticed with the Galaxy. buds is that I don't get accidental touches, so if I have both buds in my ears like this and then I go ahead and take out one of the buds, no matter how much I hit the back of this bud, it's not going to work. start or stop my music because this sensor here does a good job of determining if the button is in my ear or in my hand, the Galaxy headphones sound great out of the box, but if you want to modify it a little bit.
A bit, there is a pretty basic equalizer in the settings and you can choose between a smooth, dynamic, clear bass boost and a treble boost. Now to be honest the dynamic is the only one that actually sounds better to me if you move it to others like if you increase the bass you lose a lot of the treble and the bass doesn't increase much anyway so I personally recommend leaving it on dynamic mode or if you touch the icon in the center, you can turn off the equalizer. altogether and only get a flat response while looking at the application.
I also want to quickly point out that you can get read notifications on your galaxy bugs, so if you tap notifications and then tap manage notifications, you can select all apps. you want to receive notifications and it will read them out loud on the Galaxy headphones or if you don't want to, you can go back a page and turn it off, the last amazing feature I want to point out in this app. Now I find my headphones, this works great, so I found my headphones open on my Galaxy s 10. I have a headphones here, if I touch the start, the headphones will start making a chirping sound that will get louder and louder to a certain point. which is actually quite audible so I don't know how loud it shows up on camera but in person it's definitely loud enough to find it very quickly and it's a good safety feature so you don't accidentally blow out your eardrums because this If I were tweeting that loud and I had something in my ear that was really hurting, then a safety feature is that if I turn this on here and then cover this sensor on the end here, it will actually make this stop screeching.
If I hold it up, you can see that this is now grayed out and muted, so this one here doesn't make any sound. Now it's just the other button on the floor that makes the sound, so this is in my ear. I'm not going. to turn it off, the call quality on Galaxy earbuds has improved significantly after some updates, before those updates, people on the other end couldn't hear me, no matter if I was in a quiet and noisy environment, they just couldn't hear me. I listened to what he was saying and always ended up having to go back to my Galaxy 10+ and talk directly about it instead of the Galaxy Buds;
However, after those updates, things got a lot better and in quiet environments people could actually hear me. well, and they couldn't really tell the difference between talking on the Galaxy Buds or talking on my 10+. That said, moderately noisy environments are still terrible with the Galaxy Buds and the reason for this is when you get to a higher level. environment, the microphone on the outside of the headset turns off and starts using the microphone inside the headset and tries to pick up your voice from inside your ear. Now works if you speak too loudly for the environment you are in. which gets a little unpleasant, so you'll probably switch to using your phone anyway.
I think this is something that can be fixed with a future update if Samsung simply changes the threshold for switching from the external microphone to the internal microphone. I think that makes all the difference in the world because if you just switched to the internal microphone in very loud environments where you have to talk excessively loudly anywhere you're being yelled at to talk to someone, then I think it would work fine. In those cases it's just that Samsung really needs to move that threshold a bit more and I think things would be pretty good, that being said I wouldn't necessarily hold my breath for that update if you're someone who talks into headphones.
So these may not be the headphones for you, but if you only occasionally talk to someone who has the headphones on, then you shouldn't have any problems with them when I first bought the Galaxy headphones, there was a significant amount of latency, so What if When you're watching a video and someone says something, it would be at least half a second from the moment you saw them move their mouth to the moment you heard it on your headphones and it was really distracting, really annoying, but after a while Lots of updates that seem to have been completely fixed, so if you have the Galaxy Buds and notice a latency issue, make sure you have the latest firmware and you should be all set.
So how do they compare to the competition now, as I mentioned earlier? I tried the Jabra leet 65 T, the Bose sound support freezes, obviously, the Galaxy Buds themselves and also the Icon X 2018 s and the original Icon X. I haven't tried Apple's headphones, so I can't comment one way or another on them. Of the headphones I've used, the

best

sounding would have to be the Bose Sound Sport, frozen by a pretty decent margin. The fullness of sound in those headphones is incredible. You don't really realize how average your headphones are until you listen to them. to the Bose frozen sport sound and you say oh that's what really sounds good because the bass is amazing on the Bose frozen sport sound and even when you have intense bass hitting the mids and the treble is still very clear you can hearing every little detail of the Bose headphones instruments and some of those little details that you just can't hear in any of the other truly wireless headphones I've tried, now there are some things that aren't so good Bose sound support freezing .
I'll get to that in a minute, but in terms of raw sound quality, I haven't heard any truly wireless earbuds that sound as good as the frozen Bose Sound Stand, so after the Bose Sound Stand freezes , I would. Next on the list is a very close link between the Galaxy Buds and the Jabra Elite 265 T. Now when switching between these it was very difficult to tell the difference between them, now a big key to that is making sure. that you get the correct size tip for the Galaxy Buds, so if this tip has one that is too small, then a lot of sound will leak around the bud and come out of your ear and your bass will suffer tremendously, it will sound.
These things don't have any bass, so if you go up a size and get a tighter fit and put it in your ear, the bass is on par with the Jabra earbuds, so if you're trying to decide between these two. sound quality should be last on your list because it's very similar and you should really focus more on the features and style that comes at the bottom of the package, they will be the X xx 18 icon and obviously the original X icon will be a little below that too, now these don't sound bad by any means, they're just the Galaxy buds and the Jabra buds sound a little better, like it's a noticeable improvement between those two, so again, not bad buds , just not as good as the comparison now in terms of usability, I would have to say that of the headphones I have tried, the

best

headphones in terms of usability would have to be the icon x28 teens mainly because of the touch controls you have here, like I mentioned.
Before you had the swipe gesture to control the volume, you can also hold and cycle through different menus and you also have double, triple and single tap to do all the different things like pause, forward, rewind, so you can navigate through your music and activating different functions is just a It's much easier for the Icon x28 teens than any of the other earbuds, now the Galaxy Bud will follow closely because it has most of the same features, just the long press functionality it's not as good as on the icon can do, what I mean. This means that only the left button can raise and lower the volume and skip tracks, and only the right button can play and pause your music and quickly activate ambient sound, so if you only want to use a single button to listen to music, you have To choose between having the ability to increase the volume and skip tracks or play and pause your music, the Galaxy Buds and the Icon x28 Teens, on the other hand, no matter which Bud you have, all the controls are available on either one.
Bud, that just leaves the Bose sporty sound frozen and these come last in terms of usability and that's because the buttons are so unnecessarily hard to press that you get ear strain from having to press those buttons if you're changing the volume a lot or changing tracks a lot or something like that, playing pauses often, you're really spinning those buttons to make that happen, pressing those buttons, so I don't know why Bose made the buttons so hard to pressure, I think it was just an oversight on their part being such a large company. I feel like that's something they should have been able to achieve because that's one of the basic things they achieved with sound quality that they just forgot about. the buttons, I guess, but I hope at some point Bose updates the frozen sport sound and puts softer buttons or easier-to-click buttons on them because that would make a tonal difference in the usability of those headphones.
I already talked a little about comfort. a little bit earlier, but just to list the order from most comfortable to least comfortable, it would be the Galaxy Buds that are the most comfortable, then the Bose sport sound freezes and right after that would be the Jabra elite 65 T, after that would be the Ikon x28 for teenagers and those below. As the least comfortable would be the Ikon X headphones in terms of battery life, you will be satisfied with any of them. They all have at least 5 hours of battery life. Galaxy earbuds have the longest battery life on a single charge.
It will take you six hours with just the headphones without having to recharge them at all. The Galaxy Buds case gives you an extra seven hours, so you're looking at a total of 13 hours of listening time for the Galaxy Buds, the Jabra Leet 65 T and the Bose Sound Sport freezes both sports five hours of listening time. and the cases for each of them give you an additional 10 hours of charge to get two additional charges for a total of fifteen hours of listening time on each of them. The Icon You'll get the most out of the Icon X 28 Teens because it does. has that follow-upphysical activity, so you have the accelerometer there and you also have the ability to store music on the Icon X 28 Teens, which you can't do on any of the other headphones.
The next most feature-rich headphones will be almost a tie. between the Jabra buds and the Galaxy buds and the reason is that it depends on what you are looking for, so the Galaxy buds have exclusives like wireless charging, the ability to listen to your notifications, the Jabra buds have a better equalizer and will have three profiles customizable ones that you can quickly switch between depending on what you're doing and each profile's settings are unique, so the equalizer, whether ambient sound is on or not, and a few other things are totally unique between profiles and switching between them is with just one touch, the other thing they have is a relaxing sounds mode that will play things like rain or waterfall sound or birds chirping and even white noise, now you can download a third party app to do it, but it is kind of like It's nice to have everything in one place, so like I said a minute ago, in terms of features between the Galaxy Buds and the Jabra Buds, it largely depends on what you look at personally or your Buds in terms of features, the Bose sound sports chips come last.
Again, and that's because they don't really have any functions, you can activate an auto-off feature so that if you take the earbuds out of your ears and put them down after a certain amount of time, they automatically turn off. I have a nice feature to find my headphones and then you can also enable voice prompts and change the language of those voice prompts, but that's it on the Bose sound support freeze, so at the end of the day, which Is it my favorite truly wireless earbuds? have to be the galaxy buds now they may not sound as good as the fries with bose sound support but these are the most comfortable buds i have ever used for the most durable buds i have ever used the case is the smallest case ever the cases I've used I've had truly wireless earbuds, they have wireless charging, they have a lot of great features and a great price, so let me know what your favorite wireless earbuds are in the comments below and actually more specifically.
Have you guys experienced the same fatigue with all these different headphones as me or I just have super small ears either way let me. As always guys don't forget to like if you liked it, share if you loved it and subscribe for my next coverage of Galaxy Fold and don't forget to ring the notification bells where you could be the first.
