More Interesting Facts About,

extreme small bathroom makeover diy wall moulding...

The plan here is to make this space look much more elegant and I think the best way to do this is by putting molding on the

wall

s. I've never done this before, but I really think I can do it. In fact, I'm going to extend the chair rail up to five and a half feet just to extend the look of this room and make it look taller. I think it will also make it a little more dramatic. I'm really excited about this, a little nervous, but I think if I can do it you can do it too, so I'm going to walk you through the process of how I'm going to do it to help me visualize what these panels are.

It was going to look like I used painter's tape and taped a pattern I wanted to achieve. This allowed me to play with things and see how it would work and fit, then I went and measured the entire room between the windows and corner all the

small

edges to figure out how much space I was actually working with. I put all this information in my notebook so I could work from there. To make the molding for my photo frame, I will use painted fiberboard on a base. cap style which is a good size for this type of picture frame molding and will really add a lot of detail to the

wall

s if you're not confident using power tools this is definitely an easy way to cut some wood.

I'm just using the 90 degree cut and the 45, you can get this complete set with the box and saw for about 15 so it's really affordable and really gets the job done once I cut all my molding. I actually cut some spacer blocks, one at four inches and one at two inches and this is so that all my spaces between the picture frame moldings are exactly the same and it makes it much easier to have a block that is the size perfect to slide it along the wall and make sure everything lines up so I'm officially calling this the first day of this makeover from here on out this room is going to look completely different today we're going to install all the trim .
It's going to be amazing. I have my nail gun, my construction adhesive, my level, my tape measure. I have everything planned and ready to go, so I hope everything goes well. I started here on this back wall because this is the first wall you see when you walk in and I wanted to spend a little more time on it to make sure it was perfect, you have to look a little and level a little to make sure everything lines up with the elements around it like windows and walls so you pretty much line up your block at the bottom and always start at the bottom edge so it is aligned and level with the floor and trim from there you can use your level and make sure Make sure the vertical pieces are perfectly aligned and glue them together with construction adhesive.
If you have time to move around Lay them out and get them in the right place before nailing them in, so once you get into the rhythm of sliding the spacers in so everything is even, you can really get started and it moves pretty quickly. Actually, this was my first time. using a nail gun I bought a nail gun just for this and it is very easy to use, it is really powerful and definitely makes the job go much faster. If you've ever thought about doing some wall panels like this professionally, you know it can be very expensive, thousands of dollars, so doing this as a DIY project is saving my family a ton of money as well. that we're making a chair rail four inches above the last piece of molding here so it matches the gap at the bottom and everything is the same. spacing now I'm going to go in with some wood putty and fill in all the gaps in the holes where the nail gun was where there are little gaps between the corners and I'm going to make sure everything is seamless once I put this in I can leave let it dry and then sand it so we have a nice seamless finish and the last step is all these edges between the molding and the wall just to fill that gap and make it look seamless so it's officially day three of this makeover and today we are going to start painting.
I'm really excited because I think this is going to completely transform the space. We need to get rid of all the gold that's there. It's too golden. We need to bring in some new colors. New tones and break all the warmth. the space this video is sponsored by benjamin moore and i am going to use benjamin moore aura bath and spa paint it is perfect for any bathroom renovation because the paint resists any moisture in the air and comes in a beautiful rich matte finish. and the line actually has 3,500 different colors to choose from. I know choosing a paint color can be a little intimidating, you want to make the right decision so Benjamin Moore made that super simple, they have the color portfolio app and you can virtually try on paint colors, you can see virtual fan submissions, you can save different color options and you can do all of this in the comfort of your home, so for the background color and all the trim I'm going to use oilcloth and create.
This is such a unique color, it's like a dusty blue gray-green and that's exactly what we use in the house to decorate, which is why a lot of the rugs in the house are this color, a lot of the artwork, the pillows , the decorative features and I think it really works well with warm tones. I just finished applying the first coat of paint and it has amazing coverage, you can't even see the color underneath. I'm going to finish by applying a second coat to smooth it out a lot. everything and make it look really perfect, but this color is amazing, it's amazing how just changing the color can drastically change the look of this space since we're going to use the color and the details at the bottom that I want to keep. the top is light, airy and simple, so I'm going to use the fresh linen color.

Now we're taking on another DIY project for the mirror I'm going to use. the same decorative piece we used on the walls and built a frame to go around it so it really fits into the room, you just have to measure the size of your mirror and then cut the pieces to fit the frame I'm painting. all the trim pieces before installing them and I am using a special mirror construction adhesive to install on the frame.
I'm also going to tape it down just to keep it in place until it dries completely okay I'm not exaggerating that was the easiest DIY ever if you guys have something similar which I bet a lot of people do has builder quality mirrors. This is a super easy way to update it and make it look much more high-end finished. I didn't have to do it. I'll buy a new mirror, this is amazing. I'm going to leave all of these pieces of tape on for now so it can really harden and stay in place and then I can remove it and finish these edges while everything dries.
I work here above the toilet and I'm going to put two floating shelves. We removed that old bookshelf. My mom didn't like it anymore and she wants something a little more modern, so I found these shelves on Amazon. It comes in this pack of three, it has this nice pale wood finish that matches the floor perfectly, it will really add warmth to the wall and it comes with all the hardware to install it, they are 15 inches wide and are perfect for above the toilet as well which is the last and final day of this makeover. I'm so excited because today we're designing and decorating the bathroom and I'm really going to use a lot of functional pieces that are also decorative and that's the best. way to decorate a bathroom, there isn't a lot of space here, so you really have to choose specific pieces that will go a long way and have a big impact on the space, but also make it functional, so all the decor pieces you I chose to really bring in those warm floor tones and I think that will really help warm up the space.
Put all the colors and tones together here and I think it will make it all make sense. These are from Unsplash, they are high resolution.
