Does the NEW Toyota Supra Live up to the Hype?

supra

with launch control a lot of wheelspin but no less fun yes so this is exactly a BMW this is a BMW and I agree with that 100% because BMW makes amazing cars this is more o minus a Toyota Supra shell in a m2 competition, yes, more or less, but no, yes, that's how it feels to me, yes, exactly and I have no problems with it overall, okay, send it, that's power and quick torque 335 horsepower 365 pound-feet of torque from a three-liter straight-six that's a

live

, yeah, that's normal, it's definitely faster than that, it feels like it's in the neighborhood of like 400, maybe time out there and there have been multiple dinosaurs on the internet to confirm that this is definitely underrated, so the most obvious thing we can do is send it to the cliché corner and see how far sideways we can go.

That's good, but it's more or less like the m2 car, yes, it's very nervous but very controllable, like it's running because it has a shorter wheelbase and the craziest part is. it actually has a shorter wheelbase than the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ, that's why I think it feels so twitchy but it

does

n't make it any less controllable, you can catch every skid, this just wants to go sideways but it also wants you to catch every skid. but you know when you drive slow and you like to turn, when you move the steering wheel it has a perfect instant response and there are no weird things like the m249, maybe this is the Toyota part because it has an exactly different steering wheel and thank you. to you for mentioning that because it feels so good it

does

n't feel like a high performance M model, it looks like it should do what it does and it's perfect, it's a secret M car yeah so now let's talk a little about that engine . a little more, pulls so hard and sounds so good, yes it sounds so much better than set four.

It's like they adjusted the exhaust. Toyota has done things with this. Yes, it's pretty much a BMW, but Toyota has put its name on this. I feel like I feel like a guy approved the changes that BMW approves. No, there are definitely many. I think it sounds pretty good anyway. I think it could be a little louder, but the tone sounds great and then too. I have kind of a step up, but not quite, I think it's its special little creak and I always get the pops when I finish right before the orange line and I leave it, that's when you're on the ticket that like I was. so nasty with this car, everyone was looking at it, I was showing up forever, oh yeah, same thing here like I can't stop it, this car does that to you, certain cars just do that to you when you get in, you're like I have to do it.

I just have to break it Toyota I think BMW absolutely nailed it and the funny thing is what is Toyota's other sports car, well it's the super, I mean it turned 86 exactly, that has the Subaru BRZ engine, the fact that they don't make their own sports cars and they have like some of the sports car sick is absolutely hilarious, yeah, I mean, they've discovered something that works and I just think they got it. One is angry, no, exactly, well there are a lot of people on the internet who are angry, I'm not bad, I really like the car, since it was stolen to be honest, I would prefer it to have a Toyota straight six built.

I just want to see how this works in terms of long term reliability because BMW isn't exactly known for its reliability. Talking to someone on Instagram who works at a Toyota dealership, you know, and he told me there was only one technician that was allowed to work on these. Well, I guess if they have a similar master text because it makes sense, I mean, like a BMW train, you know what? I mean, oh yeah, okay, so yeah, I guess it makes sense, so everyone knows the super up brand for the 2jz GTE, this is the b-58, which is obviously a BMW engine.
We love this engine in the 440. I remember that it costs exactly that pocket. So this has been on several 40i series BMWs. Now Toyota tuned it slightly differently. I don't think it feels any different, but it just doesn't stop pulling, like it's instant every time, like there's no delay. Yes, this will do it. it will definitely force you to accelerate it will be like it will really be and everyone will be looking at you let's go over the looks because this one is a fucking bright yellow okay i love the look but it looks like the old z4 M yeah with the hardtop , Yeah. there are definitely similarities to that, but it definitely looks like a Supra, all the body lines are probably a million times cooler than anything BMW is doing right now. 100% agree.
I want to start with the front, though go ahead, it's got that little grille. the middle and all photoshopped to make them look different like the old super brand but I have no problem with this no and this is one of the cars that actually looked a lot like the FT one concept so I'm not annoying at all. with how this ended up compared to the concept yeah just like the Prowler I just want to keep shipping it so the headlights are okay the headlights are a solid little line it looks cool. Is there anything you think they should have done differently?
No, I think we pretty much nailed the old super mark on the headlights and then we just did a futuristic one and then we got the little black lip kit on the bottom obviously we're in this grade. I think the bright yellow paint looks amazing and everyone looks at this thing and then we have a couple of fake fans on the front. I think Toyota said you can take them out and make them functional for the aftermarket, but I think some people say you can't, yeah, so we're not going to judge that anyway. The doors, I'll judge because what are you going to do with that, the doors are cool, like you're not going to go through the door, the body, back to the left brakes, but that doesn't bother me, I'm not cool either, I think the they needed. black space on the car so they added like the little black fig fans and they say you can do whatever you want but we don't care and it's like everyone who got mad at the Civic type-r with the fake Benz exactly like that.
Now if we go to the side view, I think this looks so good from the side, wow, that's where the set comes in for them, yeah, but I love it. I love the big rear quarter panels and everything the rear quarter panels make this car. for me and then that ducktail spoiler, but we'll get to the back in a second. I like the little windows, they might be a little unsightly inside the seat but it's worth it and the roof also has some bulges so you can fit in here with the buckets on, yes exactly. I actually tried on the helmet here and it fit, so it's a little tight here, but we'll look at the interior later and then move on to the wheels for those that look good. what is this, but I think they could have done better, yes they are okay, but I'm not in love with them and I don't care if they stayed in this car.
Yes, exactly, do you mind if I use them to do a little? A little off I love this car Sorry it's so controllable. So I know what Continental's recommended outfit is for the Supra, the DW so6 extreme contact, so now the rear we have a built-in spoiler that looks so sick, yeah. ducktail spoiler like it's perfect and this is a hatchback so we should probably do the box test and the box test with two boxes and a bunch of lids. It doesn't have a lot of space for boxes, but it does have a lot of space exactly because it has a very strange shape, but because of that strange shape you get the cool shape of the car and removing and putting on the trunk liner is crazy, yes, it's actually ridiculous , yes, it's like putting a square in a circle, yes. and then now on the back, I love these taillights, oh my gosh, they nailed the taillights.
I think they look great and when the sun hits it at a certain angle the shadow is red which is great and the exhaust they absolutely nailed it there are no fake tips and the real tips themselves look so good yeah It's definitely better than what most BMW are producing right now. Well, you get real advice on this. I actually really like this partnership. No? Me too. I accidentally created one of the coolest BMWs exactly, but it's also interesting to note because this one has a Toyota badge on it and let's talk about that badge because that badge.
I love that they brought back the old Fonz, yeah it looks awesome and then we have a nice big rear diffuser. overall from back from front from side I love this it looks perfect 10 out of 10 Gorge ducks what's up with the URI Jacobs score? We don't have one yet. Let's build a cool wall one of these days. Give it Jacob's score, which is 11 out of 10, and I'll give it to 90% of the cars, so let's put you in the driver's seat, get some de

ries, get some interiors, so to launch it we have to be sporty . mode and only a traction on correct launch in URI, a little disappointing yes, as if it were not the craziest from the beginning and then after accelerating this does 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, which is faster than people say.
I've been getting faster numbers online. I think what you really should do is turn off the traction completely and just turn those tires on completely on that pitch. I enjoyed doing it and you mentioned that you have to leave it that way. Auto, so if you put it in manual, how fast should this transmission assembly shift? Or Lightning Man yeah it's the best so it's BMW shifters so we have down up down and then we have those nice ones. The BMW paddles here are also definitely better than all the E's and are tied with a lot of Mercedes, yeah, and Toyota because after all, this is it, do it, yeah, okay, whatever, and then the steering wheel is extra thin, I like it much better. that everything that comes out of a BMW and this feeds Toyota, yes that feels more Toyota and the bottom, yes it looks like it came out of a Corolla or something like that exactly and then the gauges I love because BMW has been destroying their gauges for years well the new ones yeah well even the old ones aren't as good as this one so they took like the old a3 screen you say it's the same as the empty competition I think so and they put a plastic bezel around it to do it.
It looks cool but then they just put the tack in the middle, that's all anyone wants. tack in the middle. I love seeing the huge numbers everywhere and it's also like a crisp refresh rate, yeah, and then you have the speedometer on the left. which is a little hard to see when you turn right, but you also have it on your head-up display, but the bad thing about the head-up display is that there's no tachometer there, yeah, there's no shift lights, so I turn it off. Immediately when I got in the car I loved the center tachometer and I don't even look at anything else anyway, yeah I don't need to be reminded what the speed is at the speed limit yeah, and then as for the brake light Instead, he's kind.
The bubbles go up a little when it's time to shift and when you go into sport mode you get a couple more orange and red lines to let you know you're in sport mode. Do you want to talk about the sports modes next? Yeah, let's go to is then the sport mode, a big button that you click and then it's also just individual sport, there's no like Sport Plus or anything that's cool, like it's a different way of doing it. I think this is your push sport car, it's the way you want it, do it and then ask for traction, there are two tractions, you hold it once or hold it longer and that will turn everything off and we highly recommend you turn it off, yeah , because it won't move anywhere.
If you have more traction, yes, just in a straight line, it gets a little rough, but it's not fun on the side. This center screen here is quite a bit off the i3 because you can see this ugly little bezel which is a cool beveled bezel. I don't. I don't know which ones fail and I know they are the oldest because when I use my Apple Carplay, although that's why it's green, it doesn't go all the way, it has wireless Apple Carplay and when I use my Android Auto. Oh wait, yeah, but what were you saying?
Toyota actually includes four years of Apple Carplay and then you have to pay after that, so Toyota has now adopted the BMW model, apparently I know they boasted about the first wireless car plate on the Toyota market. but apparently Android Auto is coming to future Toyotas and I think some of them have it for 2020 and then the screen is always too dark which sucks, too dark but we have the power and torque meter that shows every digit and I love it Yes, the refresh rate on the screen is incredible, as are the gauges, and as for the rest of the infotainment, just like on the older BMWs, we have our cool little scroll wheel here that works perfectly, we have radios satellite with rewind. with smart favorites we can program things on these eight buttons right here, like I can program my Apple Carplay, my rewind screen or my stations, and then we have nice climate controls and just like BMWs of the past, there is no power button. synchronization for weather, exceptThe volume knob doesn't turn there I noticed that too so a few more things on the inside the visor test is ok yeah ok no three to one that's a dud and then as for a small cup under your feet, it fits perfectly.
Yes, it does, but we don't have any armrest area to open and put things in. Yes, I know I miss it, but I don't care because everything here is great. However, we have a small net that is reminiscent of convertibles like the Zed four and then we have a small area for your cell phone that you really can't fit a cell phone in. A few more things inside. The seats are so comfortable that they are super well bolstered. I love them, yes. Its electric seats remind me of It's very nice, but it's a manual adjustment steering wheel, which I don't mind at all, yes, exactly, and overall it's very good, it has BMW quality, which makes sense, but it's a bit tight here.
Oh definitely, but like the materials, it's like leather. app: the thing looks great with the stitching, this Fanta cross looks great and my favorite part, the old school sub speaker covers on the back, yeah I know I saw I'm like, wow that's it old school, I love it and it's like it's open right here so you can go all the way to the back, it's got a big old strut bar back here, it's old school, it's like there's still super Mark Four type stuff in here , we have very nice carbon fiber down here and then also If Toyota had been inspired, if it was a BMW, it would have been gloss black, but Toyota uses gloss black with similar highlights and we have it exactly on the sides, it's just well laid out like the BMW and I like it in general, yes, yes, no.
There are no real problems, except for one problem that I will tell you about right after, which is little cliché corners, yeah, give me a little sin through the cliché and then we will solve that big problem that this interior has. I know the suspension is very good, we have rear wheel drive, we have an active rear differential. I think the biggest influence Toyota had on this was the suspension because in sport mode it's not overly damped. BMW is a nail too, but I think Toyota just toned this down and just made it a little more fun, but to be brutally honest, I like the handling and power that they delivered all over the m2 competition better.
We drove that in winter, but we also drove it on the race track, yeah, I'm a little indifferent. I think the m2 competition probably handles a little better than this and a little better for racetracks, but I still think it's very fast and I'd actually prefer this behind the wheel. In the end I felt better than the competition, but we'll talk about that. About what we're having later, I have to talk about some complaints I have, should I roll down the window or do you want to? Oh if we roll down the windows all the way you get a crazy bang and as I thought it might have been a bit crazy no I also asked other journalists and they also had the same problem well you asked me and I double checked this Sometimes it's like it's unbearably crazy and I don't know how they sell this car so I actually triple checked it.
I went online so I found some forums and people really liked the 3D model indoor wind deflectors which is crazy. I can't understand how a car that is only intended to win has jerks like that, it seems like the easiest engineering problem to solve, yes it actually is. It's pretty crazy that this thing has so many knocks and that's the biggest deal breaker for me as I 100% wouldn't even buy this car because of that, let's show people what this sounds like, roll down both windows please go a little faster and a ridiculously loud sound and then let's do it halfway just to show that there is a solution for this and it's a pretty bad solution.
Go a little faster again and the polish is practically gone, so you can only have the windows open a few centimeters. each side, which sucks and then I noticed another problem that only bothered me, it didn't bother you. The seat belt has like a loop right in the middle where your waist is, which I think is annoying and then it gets stuck on me more often. no, just while driving it would lock up for no reason, yes, maybe because I was driving without the interlock all the time. I think it's my size. You know, it could be a 2, but like those 2 things I never experienced in a vacuum. competition, which is another reason why super isn't really my style.
I love this. Do you want a little more power? I would always want a little more power exactly. So this is the b-58 engine so BMW has been putting the s- 58 in the x3m competition in the x4m competition so the rumors are probably true so it will be pretty much a shot at this and I have the feeling that we will see something like this later or at least people will exchange. Oh, but I'm sure they will, but I think we'll see a factory later. Demand problem forty. Yeah, yeah, well this is a gr, so this is Gazoo Racing, so it's like Toyota's in-house racing division, kind of like AMG, but not quite.
I feel like this is already model A oh no this is going to get faster and more M I think that's okay let's get to the price it's actually a bargain sixty three thousand six hundred ninety dollars to start in Canada and if you get this paint optional sixty-five thousand two hundred forty-five dollars, okay, so what does that compete with? It came almost or not very well. It is actually built to go after the Cayman, but it is much cheaper then m2. The competition too, yes, exactly, this is quite on par with a m2. The competition now on price is like you get the discount, but performance wise it's right there.
I guess price wise it's similar to a c43, but performance wise it is. the card again, yeah, and like an m3 forty i and stuff like that, which one would I get. I'd even debate it over a Cayman. I just really enjoy the look and how it doesn't come with a manual. transmission if I was doing auto again tomorrow for sure again Supra yes, I think I would still choose the Boxster just because the PDK is that fast. Yes, it came as a test. Yes, whatever is said for this Boxster, oh yes, well said in verse. boxer, I would choose Boxster, this was the first to arrive.
Honestly, I would think about this. This is simply the coolest thing out there right now. I love every part of it, like driving the best I can, but I can't deal with the bumps and I like it. that's a deal breaker for me 100% if it went away I'd probably prefer it to a m2 competition, shaking is a serious issue I'll give you that, I really enjoy looking at this though. I really enjoy driving it. I would, I would still take this if I had the money for it and the way I see it, I would get a m2 of competition in a dark color.
You know, it's like we're talking about a favorite gt2 RS. You want to get it because I know, yeah, yeah, well, as everyone saw this, you just want to be at the speed limit all the time. I've had more attention on this than almost any car this year, besides my Prowler, this is like when the kamo type, yeah. Everyone was excited, but this is on another level because it's like you meet a real man. Drive a yellow sports car exactly. I think Toyota absolutely nailed it and I'm very happy it exists. Let us know in the comments what you think about it.
