Jun 14, 2021
hello everyone eric from outside limitless here with carlos from daily carey solutions we are here day two at

blade

show

2021

this here is the

condor

booth now one of the great designers of dozens and dozens of knives for the

condor

joe flores brand i own i had the opportunity to work with joe in the past talking about global bushcraft and some of his

knife

designs

so here for

2021

let's see what he has in store for us ok so joe flourish what's going on dude it's well being here no limits in person i appreciate it hey uh so we had a chance to work together a bit earlier this year so joe owner operator bushcraft global some pretty major excursions i'd say you need some pretty good

blade

s to go there and knows how to get there good job do something you know tribal skills and really put your guests up for some challenges do you have some blades for 2021 here at the condor booth that would really suit some of those activities? i know a guy or i have an app on my phone for that maybe if you take a look here you can see what a wonderful line that is condor 2021 and um so much design me and all that not all these things are my

designs

we have some really cool new designers this year uh jason breden all these milled micarta handle knives are by jason breeden and if you've heard of him before it's um walter matthews he's been working with us for a long time , he's a cool guy from Chile. um, he came out with this um diamond machete which is really cool, it's got a bulbous handle at the end and it's got this Celtic style, you know, um, what would you call that's like a laser etch really, um, it's shiny, it's got that? celtic bling on almost a japanese style sword yeah you know what's super rare right now i challenge myself to talk about other people's designs for starters because sometimes i find it hard to remember all the names of all these amazing new designs we have. next out yeah this is a really cool blade.

I actually got a chance to try it out right so uh walter actually gave me his personal prototype to try it out which is really cool and it's

fantastic

now it does a pretty good job you know it's good at cutting forward well. weight but it does have that distal taper so it has good balance and he told me that on the actual production model it has a slightly larger bulb in the back to aid in extra grip on the handle and it feels great it did a great job with this really fast internet. We're going to jump right in here to get a set of skills, uh, part, there are a ton of different grips that you can use on a machete. know the grip you have a pinch grip a machete pinch it's not a chef's grip but the bombilla at the end of many different designs can help you do this kind of loose hand style grip some people might call it the gun. grip at the end but you can have more grip at the end so you can turn and get a little bit more momentum either this design or a design like this this is um my design a shotgun machete um never had before greased fingers yeah and well not really and me and i don't like hard work so i get out of my little box here trying to make something that's so comfortable but find out why i was prejudiced against that handling, yeah because you know the bulb at the end of the rhombus is important the ball button is important it turned out great we didn't make it so steep that we didn't have blisters but hey you got that choking ability at the end this is wow that it's lighter than I thought it was going to be this has a nice balance mate if you want to feel light wow that's

fantastic

um I like it look I'm not a big fan of finger grooves either but what they got right was everything is smoothed out no hot spots over there. not at all and I also like this little chamfer so sometimes if you need a little bit of alternate grip and it needs to slim down when you're getting on that toe which is nice yeah this is fantastic I'd love I'd love to try it he knows his stuff he learned two things i did on the computer because i do that but not a lot of people going out in the woods realize that sometimes you have a 90 degree point here and it's not necessarily going to cause blisters or something , but if you're like me and you do a lot of different hand grips and stuff because I'm um uh used to doing different things that I'm in the jungle than the normal people up here like you say doing the little tasks for the big blade exactly yeah , but but I've learned this from guys who are and kids who are much better than this that happens just by watching them, but doing it is very important and they do it all the time, so in order to realize that someone is lending attention you get an edge no it's fantastic and even cool that you have a little bit fuller in there too yeah well I mean that makes it sexier honestly sometimes like I said you gotta put some shine on a blade and doing an extractor there it's sexier you know why and one of the reasons why on camera and on film it makes a

knife

but it makes the knife look cooler yeah the rambo knife has fuller the dundee crocodile knife has fuller because they added that in the chamber to make it look cooler you can tell it looks cool but it's also functional it gives you have a little grip on those alternate grips it's not like it it was jumping but it gives you a little indexing point and some safety on the blades exactly great i haven't stabbed anyone really to find out if it's a blood extractor that removes all blood pressure out of their trunk cavity I don't know if that works They know they can do it on the internet but it's a way to make a knife a little bit more appealing yeah I mean the k bar knife would make it boring as shit if it didn't have that huge full think about it you should be like oh , there's a little nonchalant reaping knife ok what you got so I guess first of all it's a bit of a sheepsfoot design yeah um I would also call it as a scandi grind with a bevel secondary yeah a flat grind with a secondary bevel so it's ok because it's flat and then you go to a common secondary bevel uh uh code spidey loves to do that tops he also loves to do that many different night companies from before the flat grind the secondary bevel make that interesting um it's the first type of sheepsfoot design of this condor i can't say i think yes there might be one or two neck knives that have had this is an internal design um i didn't do anything with this, these s on all the uh condor guys putting their heads together and doing something just so they can get out of their usual box make a good 4 inch knife with the 4 inch blade and all that is the ocean reader yeah that's cool i noticed h like that kind of uh anchor yeah the inlay and pommel there are cool you know i know i was just looking at the pictures and me and i made this uh funny comment to my boss i'm like did you just design? an oceanic knife without a lanyard and just waiting for it and so i came here there's a lanyard holder right there yeah you can put monofilament in there so you can put something bigger or you can just have you know thin stuff in there for a while working on a boat and I was like oh wow, great he knows what he's doing when he's fishing and I've seen this wire wrap on a few of his models so you know it's obviously something that uh you know huh resonates through multiple blades , multiple models, hey why don't you guys come over here for an interesting part you were asking about the braid?

More Interesting Facts About,

condor tool knife w joe flowers fantastic designs for 2021 blade show 2021...

It's here somewhere. it's particularly a turpentine um a lot of turn of the century machete manuf The actors added this braid collins was one of the first collins companies in connecticut um because the indigenous people of the amazon region wanted to put that on there to make it look like correct macho machismo and a lot of macho companies machete know how to do that and so I asked him about it and we started incorporating it into some of our designs and that's a variation of an old school machete handle that was integrated into that particular design nice very cool so let me ask you if you know the answer because this is meant to be some kind of oceanic knife i guess it will be stainless steel and the condor usually uses some kind of carbon steel right? more history with it instead being the newest and best steel 440c um what is a fantastic mid grade stainless you know back in the day it was like the s35vn50 when it came out and still a fantastic easy to use st eel in the bush wow nice so this is the griffith bowie eric this is new for this year welded knob on the end this is called a coke bottle shaped handle kinda um it doesn't light on the end but that's kinda you know it has the shaped like a coke bottle it's a uh a longer Spanish style bowie that we turned into a tactical knife but it also turned out to be very good at bushcrafting with that huge belly it's quite slicer this is this is unique it's very interesting um and it feels very good i really like the balance on this i like the handling the ratio of the blade um and the fact that it cuts like this it has that nice belly this is really great distal taper nice and pointy to do detailed work and I like that which is not too sharp in case you need to do some push cuts you know what is wider you also know a lot of these you know six inches and under the knives they are really very thin so you can't really do things like those where you can hold on to it so another added benefit The idea of a smaller wider knife is kind of like the big knife problem where you can do finer things with it so maybe it just needs to be a super fat little knife and maybe you can do everything with it. it's the width who knows where you can get all these different slices and you can manipulate the

tool

from it so it knows to use the environment around it.
