Ciocca Corvette - How To Guide For Your C8 Corvette - New Owner Instructions

Mar 27, 2024
Hi, good morning everyone, I'm Brandon from Vehicle Solutions with Brandon Hi Guys and Jeff Zippity, doubt here from zipp's garage and we're here at sioka Corvette in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and I just wanted to do a quick video tour on the presentation. you to

your

new C8 Corvette a good portion of our deliveries are remote, in other words, we ship cars to California, Texas, Florida and the customer generally does not accept them. We have many customers receiving delivery here in Atlantic City. but a good portion of those customers don't, so the intent here is to introduce you to the features and benefits of this particular car so you know you do want to read the

owner

's manual, etc., and a quick disclaimer, Consult

your

owner

's manual before doing anything crazy to the vehicle, but we'll give you an overview of how to get around and get familiar with your new Corvette and with that being said, if you're watching this video it's probably because you bought a car from us here, either personally or as a dealer so I just want to thank you for the repeat business and always feel free to comment, send us a message and let us know how we can help you in the future.

I said we're going to start with the exterior of the car and I'll let Jeff walk us through that, so when we deliver cars in person, one of the things I tell people is that you're going to forget 90% of what we tell you, so which I tend to start with two of the most important things and that is if you ever find yourself in a dead battery situation, so if you've owned a Corvette in the past, you know the C7, the C6 had an external key. a remote control or a keyhole so you can place a key in the car to access the vehicle.

More Interesting Facts About,

If the battery was dead on the C7, it was at the rear of the vehicle, next to the license plate, on the C8, it is somewhat hidden. so there's a keyhole, so if you have a dead battery and you're outside the vehicle, the keyhole is located right under this side entrance, so you literally have to kneel down, come under here and access that keyhole. of lock and if You, Brandon, will explain to you where the key is located on the key ring, so this is your standard key for a Corvette. Here's a little button on the side, if you press it in and out it will actually be a key and that's what Jeff is talking about that is inserted so that the blade and key fob are specific to the VIN of the vehicle , so with that blade, you take the blade, you give it a twist and that will open the electronic door for you and then it will go up under the knee brace.

There's a C C up here and you're going to pull that cable which will then release the front trunk and then you'll have access to the battery compartment. We'll go over the battery compartment here shortly, but the other situation, as I mentioned, dead battery. If you're ever in the car and the battery dies, God forbid, there's an accident or you know water is involved and the battery and vehicle electronics don't work most of the time, it could be something you're in for. a parade. or you know your spouse is getting out of the vehicle and it's locked and for some reason or another the door won't open.
ciocca corvette how to guide for your c8 corvette new owner instructions
There is an electronic door release mechanism on both the driver and passenger side, next to the rocker panel, so there is a pull function here. You'll see that it has what looks like a finger. You're actually going to pull it up and that will open the door in a dead battery situation. Now that you know how to get in and out of the car if there is a dead battery, let's take a quick tour of the exterior of the vehicle, how to access the front trunk and also the rear trunk, and for the front of the car, there are three ways to access to the trunks, there is a physical button on the car.
There's a physical button on the key fob and then there's a button on the door panel that will allow you to access the front and rear trunk, so in the trunk you're going to split the headlight in half. and then just below here is a little button and you'll just quickly press it and then the front trunk will release, that's how you get access to the front trunk and the battery area mentioned earlier, where the vehicle's battery is located. here, to get access to that battery, you're going to remove this panel to the left and right of the center center area here, these two panels come off and then this center piece comes off and your battery is right underneath here, so that's How would I do it if the battery runs out again?
In this situation, you'll get to the battery and those three panels, the connectors are made to come apart, it's not like it's a door panel connector, these are made to come apart so it's easier to access. that and so on so we'll leave this open Brandon you want to show them where absolutely the access to the rear trunk is so on the back you'll see this beautiful Corvette script and if you reach under the first e. there's a button right here, this is a convertible now, if you have a coupe, which we'll get to later, there are also slots here where you can take the hardtop off and tuck it in so it doesn't move. damaged, that's essentially the rear trunk here, although when you go to close it, this is a soft close, you just give it a gentle push and then it will go down mechanically and the same thing on a new for 2024 model, the front trunk has that same feature mechanical closing where in a 2020 to 2023 it's a hard physical push, you need to hear two different clicks for the front trunk to close during the 24, it's a good push and then the mechanical motor will lower it from there, so regarding a some of the remaining parts of the exterior of the vehicle when the doors are locked and when the doors are unlocked there is actually a third door to remember the fuel door so it locks and opens with the doors so in In the state of New Jersey we don't pump our own gas here.
I believe we are the only state left in the union. It is, so you need to make sure the door is open so that the gas tendon has the ability to enter your gas tank. fuel cap so it's a capless fill system and then just a soft close so there's no button inside the car to release the gas cap or gas door. I have to say going back around the car, this is a 3 liter trim level, right, 3 liters. convertible, you will have five video cameras, five cameras in this car, so the first two are the front curve cameras that will be located here on either side of you know where the front license plate would go on the front bumper. camera One camera, two, then your backup camera, every car now has a backup camera installed and this is when you put the vehicle in reverse, that camera is located just above the license plate area, now your fourth camera and this is the new standard for 2024 that All Corvettes will have this regardless of trim level, it was an add-on for the 1lt for 2024 and that is their high mount camera that is here on the roof and acts as a video feed for your rearview mirror . it's not your backup camera, the rearview mirror camera and then the fifth camera is part of the PDR performance data recorder, if the car comes equipped with PDR, that camera is here on the headliner and from the front of the vehicle is easy to spot because you can see the aperture for that length of camera now a quick reveal on the convertible with the camera when you lower the roof your camera disappears so I've had some customers call me and ask me hey I can't access my video C my rear view mirror with and they realize that their roof is down so this camera disappears once the roof is stowed inside the vehicle, so in that situation I would be using the traditional reflective rear view mirror camera .
I want to go to the remote control, it sure is awesome, so we're going to start with the f key and the functions there and then we'll work our way inside the camera, so there are some functions here, some are self explanatory. You have to press the lock twice and it will beep. You have the unlock there and then you have the front trunk, the rear trunk and the auto start, so for all three functions, this X2 means that you are going to press twice and hold the second for the front trunk, if you press twice and you press and hold the front trunk that just opened for the rear trunk, the same thing you press twice and hold and then there is a safety feature that does not allow the car to start automatically.
I think when the trunks are open, so Jeff, if you could close that one. I'll close this one now. I'll start the car. I'm not going to leave it on all the time because we're in the showroom and we don't want to smoke all, uh, except the auto start. you're going to press twice and hold, so we're going to press the unlock button and then we're going to press and hold the top down, keep pressing and that's how we lower the top remotely, uh, let's leave the top down so we can continue going over the features of the car and a quick topic regarding the remote control and operation of the top.
You cannot raise the top from the remote control. The only way to put the roof back on is. with the vehicle started and then using the physical button inside the vehicle to raise the roof again, so that's not a feature that can't be done from the remote, so we can jump right in and we'll be out of the door. outside or the door inside, excuse me, so most of the things on the door are self-explanatory, but we'll go over them. These are the third ways to open the front and rear trunk that Jeff was talking about.
Front trunk release here. release here, this is your lock and unlock, this button here will be the electronic door opener, this is how you will get in and out of the car, that's what Jeff was talking about, but again in the event of a battery or power failure. loss you have your mechanical latch here so you never get caught in the car these buttons here will be your mirror settings your left mirror selection your right mirror selection the directional arrows this will be your folding motion if you ever need to lose a little more weight If you need to get into your garage, for example, press that and that will bring it back out.
You have the windows up and down. This is one I especially visit with people for a convertible option, this will be your third hatchback right here. I go over that specifically because a lot of people forget to put this on when they put the top on, um, if you're outside, if it's inclement weather, um, you know if When you put the top up, don't forget to open the third window now in the movement of the roof. convertible, which I'm going to start up real quick just for demonstration purposes, this is the convertible move button right here, so to put the Top Down, you're going to hold this for 30 seconds and then in the same way, to put the roof up, you're going to hold this right here, now keep pressing throughout the entire movement and on the board it's going to stay up, no. sure and after the folding motion is totally complete, it will say top folding motion complete.
Now I didn't keep holding it, but this is one of the other little tricks after it says full top folding movement, that means your roof is now secured, but if you hold down the convertible's movement button, it will also raise all three windows, so it's a little extra if you put the car away and are done with it, you won't want to manually roll up all the windows. just keep pressing that third button, it will bring up all three windows at once. I'm going to turn off the car now and while we're talking about the windows, a really cool feature of that third window on the convertible is that you can drive around that window.
It works independently of the roof, so let's say it's an early spring day, You don't necessarily want to put the top down, you can put down both side windows and that third rear window, you can recline that window or put that one on. window down and that allows the airflow to flow through the vehicle instead of going around in the cabin, so you can run with all three windows down and then also running with the convertible top down, on the other hand, you can raise the rear window and that. it helps with dampening the wind coming back into the cabin so it acts as a wind blocker in that situation and that rear window doesn't go down all the way and disappears completely it leaves about an inch of glass exposed so again it helps with the damping of wind and water coming back into the vehicle if it's wet outside or damp while you're driving with the top down, I don't know what situation you'd be doing that in, but hey, you never know.
I'm just going to lower the top for a little bit better visibility and then the other thing I wanted to go over on the door here is the seating positions here so you have two profiles that you can set up for different drivers, for example. If your husband and wife or you have two different people driving theyou can edit those particular settings, so I'm going to go back one to the right on the drive selector and I'm going to tap one of the icons, so first I tap Steering, how do I want my steering to be set for touring or track?
Hey, I want to feel pretty aggressive, so I'm going to put it on track. mode now if I want my braking, what do I want my braking settings to be right in the middle with Sport and then I want the sound of my engine? Of course, you want your engine sound to be a little louder. I think most don't either. The sport or track will be that particular setting and once you press X, it will be saved. It will save those particular settings and you can see how everything is displayed here in the center of the console and now go back to my mode.
You just see a little person icon on the front display that lets you know you're in my mode, that's how you access the five driving modes here with the knob on the center console, you're using this mode selector, call it a knob or hockey p and so on. Now there is a sixth way. I'm going to put it back in the Touring. That sixth drive mode is located on the steering wheel and that's z mode, so how to access it is a quick feature. to get to Z mode while driving you just press the Z mode button on the steering wheel and change everything that is factory preset this way but you can edit Z mode so again like in my mode you can edit the different sounds and reactions and so on from the steering, the sound of the engine and then you have the sound of the engine up here, you have the braking here, you have the engine and the shifting and then you have the steering fi, so all of this can be saved if you want to make changes from the factory default setting for Z mode, so once you press the It's just a quick touch. again and it will go back to the last setting, so if I click to exit Z mode, we will go back to the tour.
I like to refer to Z mode as a combination of sport and track and it's a great way if you're you know you instantly want to quickly get into that more aggressive mode, tap the button instead of fiddling with the dial here on the center console so the transmission let's talk about manual mode and driving mode or automatic driving mode when you activate driving. so you have the paddles up here on the steering wheel, you can drive this vehicle for 100,000 M and never touch these paddles, but you're not doing yourself any favors. The dual-clutch transmission in this car really wakes up the vehicle, so use the paddles. when you're in automatic mode, if you're driving in automatic mode and you want to get a boost of power, you're going to pull to the left and paddle two or three times to get out of eighth gear, downshift to say third or fourth gear which will increase the RPM and then you will step hard on the accelerator and go into drive, the car will automatically shift up because you are driving it is in auto mode but if you are in manual mode you have to upshift and you have to downshift, the car bounces on the limiter revs like a traditional manual transmission if you're in manual mode, so it's just counterclockwise, and the paddle is a downshift.
The paddle on the right is an upshift. Now there's a third mode or a third little feature that I like to refer to and I call it Ju a mode, so what you do, the engineers at Chev thought of everything if you pull and hold both paddles and then what it does is it disengages. the transmission and allows you to rev the engine, so if you're sitting at a red light you're going through a tunnel or through an underpass and you want to hear a good echo, pull both paddles and stab the accelerator, release the paddles and go , it's a great way to let everyone hear that exhaust. on your beautiful Corvette C8, the next thing we want to touch on is the PDR or performance data recorder, so again, if your car is equipped this way, it is a standalone option on a 1lt, but it is standard on a level of equipment 2 LT and 3 lt. and what the PDR does is record track sessions etc, when you are on the track it gives you the opportunity to put in an SD card and record your track sessions to access the PDR where you will go. the glove box, you're going to open the glove box here with this little button and then your PDR is located right there on the left side and you'll see a memory card slot.
Consult the owner's manual for memory size. Memory size is not necessarily the most important thing. The most important thing to remember is the speed of the memory card. Check your owner's manual for the speed and requirements of that SD card and that just slides right into that slot there and once the SD card is installed you will be able to access the PDR information from the info center on the driver here on the console, so another thing we wanted to mention is the blind spot monitoring that will be standard and there's nothing to activate about that.
Your screens will be here at the top left of the driver's side mirror and at the top right of the passenger side, so now we're going to pair a phone with the car's infotainment system with Bluetooth. To do, if you're from the home screen, you're going to press phone and then manage the phones on your phone, whether it's Apple or Android, you want to make sure you have the Bluetooth screen open and then once you press add phone. It will appear on your phone as my Chevrolet. Make sure you select my Chevrolet under devices and it will give you a pairing code that you can press pair on your phone or on the infotainment screen and then it will take a second. and pair it, it will also ask you whether or not you want to allow it access to your contacts.
There we go, my phone is connected right now and we enable it. It will give you a lot of prompts, uh, if you want to enable it. location services and then it can automatically prompt you to allow Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. There it is, there's my phone right now. Apple carplay is enabled if it does not ask you to enable Apple carplay or Android auto. You can always select it from the home screen and then it will ask your phone if you want to allow Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, uh, and that's it. Now your phone is all synced, so now we're on car number three.
This turns out to be a quick process. Blue 3lt Coupe and what we are going to demonstrate here is how to remove this removable hardtop and store it in the rear of your particular Coupe, so the first step you need to do with a coupe is to make sure that the rear The end of the vehicle is empty and can accept the top, so you're going to come back here under the E, on your keychain, you're going to open the rear hatch and lo and behold, this particular car is a z51, so everyone. the auxiliary brake duct and stuff is back here, plus you have your floor mats, we're in New Jersey, you have the front license plate bracket, so we're going to store this in the front trunk area and we.
I'll get these things out of the way because, like I said, that's step number one when storing the roof on a coupe. If you have a convertible, you don't have to worry about that because you don't lose space in the trunk when you put the top down, so we're going to store them here inside the front trunk, so from here we're going to enter the vehicle to remove the roof . There are three connections and we are going to try to capture all three of them. film for you, so you're going to get into the vehicle, there are two in the front here under the sun visors and these connectors are attached to the roof, they're not attached to the car, so you're going to pull down and down and out so that release the front now the rear connector is back here we'll have a better shot of this once it's out of the vehicle, but there I'll show you where to push and it makes a little bit of a noise and it's a little disconcerting when you first hear it, but you're going to push this release latch forward and this is the sound that you're going to hear that releases this big tab to lock it, you're pushing this.
Don't press this to release it, you have to push up here and get your hand out of the way because this will come down with some Force. Now you know that the roof is completely freed and now we are going to remove it, let's go back. Outside the vehicle, you can certainly do this with the windows down, but what I recommend doing is taking your left hand and pushing up on the front to release the front half of the roof and then from there, pull with your finger underneath. Brandon and I are going back together. You can do this with one person and like I said, with the rear hatch in this position, it's just a quick lift from there, now at the bottom of the roof, you'll see.
These little Nubs here, these little balls and if you look inside the rear trunk area, you'll see a resting place for those particular little Nubs to come in here, that's what you're going to connect them to, they just rest. Let's go ahead and put this over the spoiler. If you have a tall Wings spoiler, it's a little bit higher to put it in there and then you'll fix it once you get it in. You will feel those little pegs snap into place and this first time doing it with full disclosure is a little disconcerting, you have to give it a little good pressure, that's the sound you want to hear now that your roof is fully packed away and ready to work, so remove it.
Again I recommend here on the left and right side, give it a good tug, you'll hear it come loose, don't pull it all the way out this way because then you'll risk damaging the bottom half of your roof, so just pull it out here and then it'll go here to remove it. Now we're going to put it back into the vehicle again. I'll drive it here myself and then we'll hand it over to Brandon and we'll do it together here. I'll let you open the door so the window is out of the way, and again, you want to put these pegs directly into these eyelets here on the back, you don't have to do that. look at those pegs, follow the body line, the contour on the roof and the rear here was the same once you line up that little push down here, then you'll get back on the vehicle, close those latches and on this big The latch on the back is what you are going to push and you will hear a click that now the roof is locked and don't do it, never put the roof here without securing them because you run the risk of becoming a member of the FRC the flying roof club and it is very It is very expensive to replace this roof, not to mention the damage it could cause to a vehicle driving behind you.
I know friends of mine who have lost their roof while driving, it's not a fun experience, here's how to remove and install the removable roof panel on your C8 Coupe.
