because we're at my dear friend Jenny's house in the East End of Toronto, so Jenny is one of the kindest and warmest people. I know she has been working on a career as a life coach for a few years and she is happy too. She is managing a YouTube agency and so she is balancing these two careers and really loves it.

The irony is that Jenny's career is basically, you know, inspiring people to be their best selves. I mean, she's working in this uninspiring

, so that's her. The second

bedroom

in her house has become a kind of dumping ground. There are many things that do not need to be in this space. He has a beautiful desk for Westham. It has a desk lamp. It has shelves. It simply lacks personality. it doesn't feel like it and it's kind of like a storage room between rooms and then it's your

office

so I'm here to remodel this whole space and show you guys at

how you can get a beautiful

office on a

budget

because that It's what we do here.

Well, like all the spaces I do, Jenny had a few key things that she really wanted to implement in this space. She wanted to keep the printer. I suggested keeping it on the shelf, but it's something she uses almost every day. so she needs it, she wanted the cable clutter gone from that area, she wanted to keep this bookshelf right where it is, it's attached to the wall, so we had to solve the problem that Jenny also needed a sitting area in this office because it has Clients come to this space and they need a place to sit, so the first thing we need to do is address this accent wall, so this is a pretty old house, which means this wall is bumpy, you know, it's got a lot character, he's like a tough animal, so Jenny and I really thought that would be a great wall to turn into an accent wall and that's a great tip for you guys at home, whether you're remodeling your office, your

bedroom

, your kitchen, your living room, any room, always with accent walls.

I feel like making a space feel elegant, new and fresh. Jenny and I went back and forth and were like wallpaper paint, I don't know, and we decided on this beautiful navy blue paint. The link is below if you want to know what. this color is such a deep blue and I think it really warms up the space. I also feel like painting is a really affordable way to refresh your space, it's pretty inexpensive, I mean depending on the size of your wall or room and it didn't take me that long, it took me maybe an hour to paint this whole wall and we did two coats , so I'm pretty soft and now we have this beautiful bold accent wall in this space and hopefully all the other pieces will come together.

Seeing the color of this wall behind me, the first thing I wanted to tackle was getting out all the stuff that didn't belong in this office, oh wait, Jenny has a basement filled with tons of storage and it made sense for those things to live downstairs. and now I'm ready to start this makeover next. I'm changing these curtains. I feel like I say this maybe in all my videos, but it's so true that a curtain can really darken a room, make it feel a little dreary. these curtains were kind of like baiji Brown he's like they weren't they weren't that cool and they were really making the space look pretty dark so I brought in a beautiful new gold curtain rod.

I'm obsessed, it's like a touch of Lux in this room not so expensive link below and then I brought these very pale pink curtains. I wanted to add, you know, a pretty element to this space. I really think these curtains just brighten this whole room afterwards. the curtains we went on to change the light, this was almost like a boob light, it seems like it wasn't a full boob light, but basically we're going to say the best and it was like it wasn't pretty. Jenny loves lights, she loves flashy lights. Like me, I found this beautiful gold one.

I'll link it below. It was less than a hundred and fifty dollars, which for a flashy light is a bargain. What I discovered through this makeover is actually that you can find some really affordable ceiling pendants. lights and I think this is a really good example of how the ceiling light can actually be beautiful, really beautiful and then I put these vintage style bulbs in them because they're exposed, they're bare bulbs so you want them to look pretty again , what This light makes a difference in this space I can basically go home now see you, thanks next, so the easiest way to tackle shelving in an office is to add

I feel like in an office, you naturally have a lot of paper, you have notebooks. you know, just stuff, I get it totally normal, so I love using inexpensive

decor

ative boxes to throw all that paper in there. I also love this gold basket that slides onto the shelf and this will be where Jenny will keep all the immediate tastes of her. do it, her daughter's bills, you know, school stuff, everything is there, it's accessible outdoors and then everything else is hidden and then in true Alexandra style, I just styled it a little bit. I love designing shelves.

Rugs in an office are very important because they really make it feel like a cozy rugs for bedrooms are expensive, but I found this one on sale. I think it was like Black Friday or Boxing Day, one of those big sales days. This rug was actually $85, which for a decent sized rug is not a lot of money for me. A quick tip for you guys at home, buy those big ticket items, like rugs, on a sale day, it makes a big difference.

I didn't want to use a smaller rug for this space. I felt like I needed something substantial. I love this pop. in yellow, I think it will look so good with bold it makes this room much more welcoming. One of the biggest changes in this room that I think will blow you away is the placement of Jenny's desk, as I mentioned she has this beautiful desk from Westown it's stunning and it's against the wall and I feel like that's naturally what we all think of when we designed a home office: which wall are we going to put the desk on, so just opening this desk and repositioning it creates a There's a big difference in the space, it feels more open, especially because Jenny is going to have clients here.

I feel like this repositioning makes her say: hey, this is my office, this is where I sit, come sit in my comfortable chairs and let's go. Have a conversation about the life she is for you at home. I really encourage you to play with the furniture that you have moving around this space and not stick to those hard and fast rules that I think we all have when it comes to design, it's like if we put your desk against a wall, there's no trying to move it away from the wall just see how it feels in this particular space it made a huge difference guys the next thing will maybe blow your mind because it somehow changed my perspective on printers and cables my life will change forever and This is not my office, basically, as I mentioned, Jenny really wanted to keep the printer.

Usually she kept it in a closet or I know what she was thinking about. on top of my bookshelf but she uses it a lot so she wanted it on display so I did some research and found this amazing laptop stand. It's a standing desk for a really small space, but I thought I'd repurpose it into a printer stand. What I love about this is that the cables cascade and at the bottom there is a small hole where you run the cables through and then they just plug into the wall. It's so cool that it keeps everything corralled.

The modems are at the bottom, so this is a mesh. and it's metal so the modems can breathe and don't overheat so there's a shelf for your paper and your ink cartridges and then there's a place for your printer and I think this is a great solution for anyone who has a lot of workspaces and it has a lot of technical stuff, this is the solution, the link is below if you want to buy one of these for yourselves, the 16 wire color makes me very happy and those who power these cables, more or less, since Jenny now face this. blank wall I thought we needed to add something here, we already have some art in this space so I thought I'd do some kind of green wall.

I found these amazing gem planters, they have gold accents and I'm just planting. some succulents are right next to the window so I hope they get a lot of light and in general succulents are pretty easy to care for which is why I chose them for this office. I think they are plants in any space, especially the office. they're like they're happy, there was a statistic at one point that I read that plants increase their productivity, like I don't know the exact statistic, it was a lot, just with some plants, this might be my favorite element of this office.

It's this cool, crazy board. I feel like whiteboards are one of those things that never look fancy and when I came across this one I thought it was a glamorous whiteboard. I can't, I can't handle it and I just think. This looks like a work of art but is super functional, so Jenni can write down the month's installments and her priorities. I think this is awesome for anyone looking for a functional workflow system for their office that also looks really pretty, so another great... The ticket item for this room was definitely these chairs. Families at home, kids, it was relatively inexpensive for a couple and it really brings this space together and this is an item that Jenny will use every day.

She has clients who need to sit next to her. -next to each other, they must be comfortable. I know this is a

budget

channel and I really think I'm going to show you really affordable but good quality and budget friendly decor options but sometimes you just have to splurge, I mean we splurge. these chairs, but actually for two beautiful, modern and elegant decorative chairs, it takes a lot of money and I really think that sometimes it is worth investing in those pieces that you really need. She needs a comfortable place for her clients to sit and these were just the answer, they tied this whole space together and I'm so glad we want them Next we're going to add this beautiful art print.

I'm really obsessed with it and the funny thing is that I actually bought this before I bought many. the other elements in this space and it's the exact color palette of this room and I think when you're buying art, that's a really good tip, like choosing a print that you like if you're having trouble finding a color combination. For her room, simply choose the colors from that art print and weave them into the rest of your decor, plus it's framed in a gold frame that captures all the gold details in this space. Look at this office that I am very excited to show.

Jenni, her new space, Jenni totally deserves a beautiful and inspiring place to work and I really hope she achieved that. For her I feel like she fulfills everything she was looking for and really sums up who she is.
