remodel

turned out. You are stumbling in the dark. Your eyes shine like stars. I was depressed until you saved me. So for example, we're going to keep this vanity here, we're just going to give it a different top and give it a good coat of paint, so what we wanted to do first is remove the sink and we're going to leave this vanity exactly as it is. es and my husband is going to make a wood countertop here's a sneak peek of what one of the walls will look like and we're going to do something with this and then this is the countertop we're just going to make a nice stained wood countertop it's 24 inches for 72 inches how much did this cost? 30 dollars 30 dollars okay, I used to make my benches that I made for my tables with this and it was seriously the best ever, yes I love it, something is It is very important in these pieces of wood, any front end that is see when you look at the countertop it should be the nicest, so if you look at this here, I don't want the front to be a little bit rough.

More Interesting Facts About,

bathroom remodel under 500...

Yes this is the factory cut so it will be much straighter than any cut you cut even if you have a straight edge it will never be as straight as a factory cap so I will use this end and this is where I will do my cut for my 22 inches so I'll mark from here to here at 22. Life is a winding road, you don't know where it's going, driving for days and nights won't stop the truck tip I learned in carpentry school. When you cut against the grain like this, you want to tape it down because it will cause it to chip and flake, and since we want this to look like a finished countertop, you almost want to make sure you tape it down so that you don't have any discharge or splits, so let's follow the line.

You can say I lost my mind. I will continue to keep my head up even if the sky is falling. What you're doing here is you're actually just doing a dry fit. To make sure the cut is perfect, you usually do this several times, so before you fully install it, you need to make sure it fits perfectly. Now, the next part you'll see is stained and it's here in place. The camera wasn't rolling when he did this, so I'll explain it in more detail here at the end, but for the next part we're just installing the sink and deciding exactly where we want to have the hole, so wherever the plumbing is placed. that's where we want it, we also made sure it was in the center of the counter, so it's just drilling the hole here and obviously it's a little bit bigger than the hole for the sink, for a sink like this, you can do it as big as you want.

I want to, as long as it's still on the counter, we'll go back to the counter, but for now we're going to move on to the brick wall and this brick panel is really cheap, it's about 30 35 and we got it at Home Depot. My husband is first measuring everything up to the wall we are going to install this on and then all he does to install it is shoot it with some nails. You could definitely leave the brick as is, but I wanted a white wash look with that German stain, so I'm using some light caulk.
In fact, I end up using this entire container for this wall. I first went through and covered all the black cracks with white and then I'll go back and cover a lot of them. of the bricks with this same putty now all I have to do is I just wanted to show you that it took a container full of this to make just one of those brick panels, so if you're making multiple brake panels, you're obviously going to need several. of these light putty, so yeah, I just wanted to show you that we literally used every last drop we could to finish the wall trick.
I forgot I learned the last time I did this floor, so originally I would put it on the floor first and then it would just make a big mess and it would leak through the cracks, but if you put it on top of this and it doesn't need a ton of glue because It's already peel and stick, so you just want to add a good amount. don't put anything too close to the edges because it just leaks out and then you have a big mess that you have to deal with and you're leaving it all over the floor while you're doing it right so this is just some plywood that we got from Home Depot and we had them break them into 16 inch strips and then we cut them into 8 inch pieces with my table saw so this is a piece above the shower that I'm doing right now so I just tore it up I tore it up half because it's a different width so I don't have to make two pieces so I'm just saving wood on this one but that's why I only broke it halfway but I usually break it straight down the center so they all fit .
Twenty centimeters is not your fault and you do not deserve everything bad in your heart. I know you've tried very hard. I know you did it right, so after painting for hours yesterday I decided I don't like the color at all. So I went and bought a new gallon of paint and I like it a lot better. I didn't want to do white because I just wanted to do something different, but I ended up using white. Well, here's the ship's turn so far. two coats I will definitely do another coat. I like the look of this shiplap.
I know I've talked about it in a million videos, but I like it to look old and original. It just looks worn and beat up, and I really like that here. You can see the knots and cracks in the wood and I love the look of that type of wood, but I wanted to show you a little preview of what's going on, so the color I chose looked like a brownish gray. in the store and that's what I wanted when I bought it here it looks super gray like a blueish gray here and I just don't like it so here's a drawer made with white and I think it looks really nice especially with the sink right there, so we're going to go ahead and remove everything and repaint everything white.
Something I wanted to mention about this light, we didn't want to have to redo the ceiling and this is a pain, so the original light just hung here and it was so weird we have those hinged mirrors that I keep because I love that they won't be seen very pretty, but I love those types of mirrors. I had the idea of getting another type of chandelier and then just hooking it in the center so it's out of the way and I think it looks really nice. I like how it hangs in the center. This was a way to avoid a big hole and a big mess because I have no idea how it would be fixed.
On the ceiling, when we redid our kitchen, it was the same ceiling and I remember it was that thick and it's not something I want to mess with, so unless we were covering it, I probably would have chosen a different light, but why not? , I decided to just use another small chandelier, so instead of redoing our shower, we decided to just paint it and I know it sounds crazy. I had never heard of painting a shower before, but this little kit here was $36. I already like the tile we have, so I thought, if we could get it white, then I'd like it a lot more, so this is what we're going to try, we'll see how it turns out and we're crossing our fingers that we like it, okay, I'll do it.
The first thing I'm going to do is use a little bleach, water and a wire sponge. I'm going to clean the entire shower and then come back with the solution that my bathroom had. It's so small that I tried to set up the camera so I could record this part and I just can't do it without someone holding it for me, so I'm going to clean this up and then we'll start painting, okay? it's after cleaning once with bleach in the water, now you can see here on the floor, it's really gross, but that's because of all the runoff from the tiles and if you can remember, there was a lot of blue buildup here, so that that's it, the next step is to use 320 grit sandpaper and you're going to sand everything lightly and it's going to make the paint stick, then you're going to wash it, sand it again, wash it, dry it and then we should be able to paint.
I just mixed the solution with a little bit of water here and it tells you to do it with a gallon of water and I'll go over everything with a sponge, wiping it again, drying it, sanding it and cleaning it, so anyway that's it. what we're going to do is a lot of prep work to make sure this paint sticks to you guys as far as the smell goes oh my god people warn you this stinks but I'm telling you our whole house smelled like it was leaving . exploding was so bad we decided to do this at night so we slept downstairs we literally protected the basement door with towels so the smell wouldn't go down there it was so bad our whole house smelled for 24 hours so I'm just warning you You want to make sure the room is completely closed.
You have an open window. If there are any windows open, you definitely have some windows open and if you also have a fan, make sure you have it on full blast when the second one comes on. coat, that's what we did - we screened the door to our room, we opened all the windows in our room and then we had a fan blowing the smell outside and that made a big difference so I'm just warning you not to do this without a mask, I promise you they will. I want to die here, the shower is completely finished and I am very surprised at how it turned out.
It looks like a normal, legit white tile. It's crazy, as you can see here, like the glow, it literally looks the same as if it were a new white tile. In fact, I already showered here and it held up very well. All we have to do is get a new black tube to replace the shower head. We did get a new shower head but it was just the top part we painted the light with. black exterior spray paint and then we did the same thing with the knobs until we could find some new knobs, but I actually like those knobs so I think I'll probably leave them if they stay.
We also did the same with this. On the door we used exterior spray paint, it's waterproof so we did this on the edge of the door so we could save the door and save some money that way but you guys for 36 bucks I couldn't be more happy with the result of the shower. This is something extra that doesn't really have to do with the remodel itself, but I wanted to show it anyway, so it's actually the closet that was hanging above our toilet and I had it in our trash pile to throw away and then decide.
What I wanted to do about the toilet I thought, you know what, I'm going to go get that piece? I'm going to paint it white using the same color we had. I gave it two coats of white and then I'm using this. milk paint in the right color and I'm going to paint two coats of this, sand it and reinstall it over the toilet. Waiting for better days to come and take us like the wind in our sails is another thing that really doesn't have to be that way. to do with remodeling, but I wanted to show you this anyway, if you have an old dresser and you don't like the coating on them, I actually picked them up from Dollar Tree for a dollar a piece and I was able to get them. three different liners for each of the drawers, so all I did was put one of them in and then cut them all to fit exactly the same length.
If you want to do three coats of this, you want to apply 800 grit. Sand and apply a fourth coat for the finish. Is there any time they have to wait between sanding everything or between coats just when it's dry? It's okay, you can tell by looking at it almost since you made it. This so many times with countertops and stuff, you know? Can you give them an estimate of how long it takes? Approximately two or three hours. Two or three hours. Well, I actually wanted the window to look different, so it wasn't just. a plain old window, so I bought little trim pieces for like I think they were three dollars and I cut them up and just liquid nailed them in half and used, oh, we just used painters, painters tape, yeah, we just used the normal painters. tape to hold it's actually an idea so it worked really well and my problem is that you can't open this window anyway so I didn't like the look of it, it's just one of those blurry windows and I love it.
Now you're outside too, by the way, oh, you can't actually see him in the window, but we need to clean the outside of the window, so he trimmed that too. I don't know if we had a good shot. of that, um, it looks a lot better, I actually had to use a two-by-six down here because the tiles they like made a thick cement under chicken wire and then tiled it, so it's like filling that big wood space, so it didn't seem strange that I was outside doing it when you made this countertop, so explain the whole process of if someone is making acountertop in your bathroom or kitchen, what would you do if you're leaving the existing vanity.
On the existing countertop, I always suggest leaving the countertop that is there and placing the piece of wood on top. There's no need to tear off that top if you're going to make a thin layer like this. I think it's three quarters of an inch, it's very thin, right, I mean, it's thin, it's still thin, it's not as thick as the lip made. Right, it just makes it a lot easier to make the cuts, if you tear it off, then you have to worry about securing it to the wall on both sides, like where the dresser stops, like this, for example, so make the cut and put it up every time.
I make a molding at the end of everything I make because it makes it look a lot thicker so the wood isn't actually that thick it's just a molding the wood is only three quarters of an inch thick I always stain it in the in the garage and then I bring it in, I dry installed it like 50 times because I want to make sure the cuts are always right because I love to measure four times and I cut once so I installed it after we secured it in the top here with a liquid nail. oh yeah, how did you secure it?
I just use these nails. Okay, I glued it to the top of the existing countertop and then used it as a rotor bit and drilled the hole for the sink like I would dry fit the sink. fit into place drilled through the last thing you need to do is put on the clear coat. The reason I say that is because you want to move the sink, you don't know exactly where you want it, dry fit everything including the plumbing, and then take the sink out again after it's dry, everything is done and do your clear coat , okay guys that's it for this video, if you haven't hit that red subscribe button yet, make sure you do and I'll see you in the next video.
