gnome

s. Oh, I think they're so cute and you know, they're really really

easy

to make. Some of you may have seen my tutorial on how I put this

adorable

little guy together right before the holidays. They made it using everything from Dollar Tree products, believe it or not, except for these

adorable

little booties which I didn't get at Dollar Tree, but It's super

easy

to put together and I couldn't wait to try to make one that was more Valentine's themed , so let me show you what I came up with.

I decided that this time I wanted to make some

gnome

girl

s and OMG! OMG I think it turned out so cute and so easy to make. I'm so excited to share with you how easy it is to put together. This is the other one I made. This is his little sister and again almost everything she did. You see, it all came from the

dollar

tree

. I know it's not that crazy, so for very little money and very few supplies, you too could make one of these adorable little gnomes, so let's get started. The first thing we need to make is the body for the gnome and I like to use it as a solid color sock.

More Interesting Facts About,

I stay away from doing the body with this type of busy pattern socks just because I think it clashes a little with the dressier socks you use for the hat, so I prefer to use a simple sock and I think these little ankle socks have the perfect size although you can use bigger and longer tube socks if you want just cut them to the size you need so im going to start by just filling our little sock here now you can fill the body with whatever you want you can use rice beans pebbles rocks sand oh my goodness you could use almost anything but what I have discovered That works great for me is that I have a bunch of these little glass gems that I used to use in my fairy gardens and I haven't been using them much lately so I just put a couple handfuls of these in the bottom of the sock, what this does is just give it a little bit of a base and a little bit of weight on the bottom so that your gnome has some stability and doesn't tip over.

I like to fill my gnomes. with just one pillow filling, I had an old one that I didn't use anymore so I opened it up and you can get a lot of gnomes out of one pillow, they really don't need that much filling and that way. It doesn't make it too heavy if you're using rice or other things like that or pebbles, it can just get quite heavy, but I mean, use what you have, I wouldn't go out and buy something special. things I'm talking about just look around your house, I'm sure you have something you can use, raid your sock drawer.

Many of us have socks that are missing a partner and this is a great way to use up socks you no longer wear. As long as they are clean and not too worn they work fine, so once I have all of this filled out I will show you what the next step is so that the body size is completely up to you. I'm just going to go up to where the heel starts here, no big deal because that's going to be covered by the hat anyway, but you can make them as plump or as skinny or tall or short as you want and then what?
What I like to do is just take one of these little elastic bands that I bought from Dollar Tree, this was in the hair accessories aisle, they work great and then you just take one of these and tie the top like this and then yeah You're worried about the rubber bands breaking or deteriorating over time, which you know probably isn't a bad idea. You can take some floss, twine or something like that and just give it an extra tie. I'm not going to bother right now. It's going to be for me anyway, so I'm not worried about it breaking, but if you're going to gift this to someone, you'll want to make sure your gnome stays intact for a long time for next time.
What I'm going to do is cut this top piece because I'm going to use it to make some little arms for my gnome, so I'm going to cut it pretty close just like that and now. We have some material that we can use to make little arms, but we'll come back to that in a minute, this is what our body looks like. Now we need a nose. Now there are a few different options for noses. In fact, I bought some small ones. ping pong balls and some Styrofoam balls from Dollar Tree and I put a coat of peach paint on them and I mean that would work, actually they probably need a couple more coats just because you can see the white, but I actually prefer wear pantyhose, these are knee high socks, I bought them from Dollar Tree and all you have to do is put your little ball in here and cover it, and since I already have a kind of peach coating, this is the perfect color for a nose gnome and again it is the perfect size.
I'm going to use one of my little elastics here that I bought from Dollar Tree and I'm just going to tie this like this a few more times if that's the case. If you're worried about this coming apart or breaking, you could add a little more thread or twine or something and I'm just going to give it a little cut and there's our familiar little nose, so your little gnome is going to need a hat, eh. I'm going to wear these socks I bought at Dollar Tree. I love these socks. These are amazing little hats and I'm just going to show you a few others that I bought at Dollarama.
I paid an extra 25 cents, so a

dollar

fifty. for the pairs of socks that I buy there, but they are actually much nicer, they are thicker, fluffier and I really like the quality of these better, but for today's video I'm going to go ahead and use one that I got from the dollar

tree

because I'm trying to use everything pretty much the dollar tree here with this gnome just so you guys can know how to find these things easily on your own dollar trees, hopefully or something similar anyway, I'm sure you could pick up somewhere else too, but like I said, I'm going to try to do everything Dollar Tree does here today, so I'm going to make this stocking here.
Now you'll notice that Dollar Tree socks are not as fluffy. the inside, but they look nice once they're rolled up, they kind of make a nice little bracelet here, that's nice and you can get an idea of what it's going to look like and when you put it on your little body here. It gives you a rough idea now, you can do it like this or you can fold it. I prefer the look when it's folded, but you can get the idea that your little nose will go here and before. If we do something else with the hat, I'm going to make a little pom pom at the end of my hat because that way we don't have to make one, but Dollar Tree has pom poms or those little furry key chains. that you can use, in fact I also found this the other day.
It was a small headband and it had two pom poms, so I already used one. You can look around to see what you can find, but it would look really nice there. You can also make your own if you like making pom poms, but for this I'm going to show you a very quick and easy way to use the sock to make a pom pom, so what am I going to do? What I do is I take a little bit of the same pillow fluff and I'm going to stuff this right in the end of my little sock and you can make it as big or as small as you want and you just push it to the right. at the end and I think it's probably a good size for a pom pom like that and then I'm going to take another one of these little elastics and that's going to be our little pom pom, the easiest, easiest pom pom we've ever seen.
Wow it's that easy, so far we have a body, we have a nose and we have a hat, but our little gnome

girl

needs some hair. Now I bought this little mop at Dollar Tree and it makes amazing gnome hair and I can't stand it. credit for having this idea. I've seen it in several videos where people have gotten their familiar beards using the mop and I thought this would be perfect. You can braid it and make small braids. but I like how this looks, just making a little ponytail here, so I'll show you how I did it.
Basically, I've used this several times already, as you can see, for $25, which is what we pay for items at Dollar Tree here in Canada. I can get a lot of familiar beards or gnome pigtails with this, so I'm going to take six little pieces of this mop two four six and cut them off properly. at the top here and then I'm going to take one of my trusty little elastics here again these elastics are amazing, I love them and then I'm just going to tie the little end here as tight as I can and not have to worry too much about this because let's go I'm going to glue this on anyway and the glue is going to keep these from coming apart so there we have one end tied and then I'm going to take another one of my little elastics and about halfway through I'm going to put my next little elastic here, which will be my second little ponytail, so I'm going to do like this and we're going to tie this pretty tight as well, so now we have something that looks like this, so now I'm going to cut this right here above the elastic and then this will give me my two little ponytails, so I'm just going to cut this here and there, let's go and I'm not too worried about the length.
I know one is a little longer than the other, these will be too long and I'll have to cut them off anyway so it's not a big deal, so now the next thing I have to do is they're not as cute. just leaving them like that, but if you detangle them, it only takes a couple of minutes to do this, but if you just pull them out and untangle them all here, then you'll have a look like when you know when you put braids in your long hair. and you take them out and you have a fluffy look and I think it looks a lot better so I'm going to go ahead and do that with both of them and when I come back I'll show you how to put your little gnome together just wanted to show you the difference.
I've separated all the little strands and look how much fuller and fluffier it is so I think it's definitely worth the time, it's really no big deal. to unroll them all and you're bound to get a little bit different fluffier look, so I've got my two little pigtails here. I just trimmed them so they are about the same length, although we will probably have to trim them. Even a little bit more once we get them in place but that's okay so you just need to figure out what your front and back are going to be and mine is obvious because my sock actually had this word hanes written on it so I'm you're going to put that in the back and then your sock, you just want to find the heel that's right here and you want it to go in the back as well, so I'm just going to roll my sock up a little bit here and we'll be you're going to glue this on right now, you could leave your little hat like this, but notes which is a little bit flexible and doesn't have much shape, now you can fill this with something that I find easier to fill.
It's just a piece of paper towel, I pile it up like this and I'm going to push it up and this gives it a little bit of something that I can shape it a little bit. I like my little hats to go to the side like this so we can play with it more in a moment, but you don't have to fill it, you can but you can put material in there, you could use anything. There you could even use one of those little Styrofoam cones and you could glue it to the top and that would give your little hat some stability.
I've done it before too and it works great, but I think just putting a little bit of paper in there or something will also work great and cost almost nothing, so the next thing we want to do is figure out where our little nose, so I just like to put it down and grab it. your little nose so you're going to need to get your glue gun make sure it's plugged in and ready to go we're going to put our nose on first so this is going to be tucked in here like this so I like it I just put it where I want and then I pick it up and I put a big drop of glue right behind it, don't be afraid to use a lot because you don't want your nose to fall off. sure and hold it there for a few seconds to make sure it's ready and while that's ready you can start putting your little pigtails in, so again, these are going to get really close to where your nose is, like that again.
I'm going to lift this up, then I'm going to put a big glob of glue right next to the nose and then I'm going to take this little ponytail and I'm going to stick it right in there. next to the nose and again just hold it while it dries and if I was ambidextrous I would use my left hand and put more glue on the other side but I'm not so I'm just going to hold this for a minute and when it comes back I'll show you what it looks like when you put the two pigtails in place, so this is what we have so far, it looks very cute.
Hey, now I just want to twist a few places here just to make I'm sure this hat is going to stay stuck to your nose, so I'm going to take my trusty little glue gun, put a little blob there and another one here just starting to take shape and now we just need to make some little arms for her, I want to do that next before I start gluing the rest of this hat in place because I want to be able to tuck the arms under it, so that will be the next step and I'll show you how to make the arms.
This is the little piece I cut from the top of the body after stuffing it and what I'm going to do. WhichWhat I do is even it out a little bit so it's a little bit straighter like this and then I'm going to cut it in half like this, it might end up being a little short, but by the time the time comes we put our little glove on it, it'll be long enough, so I know it seems a little short right now, but I'm not going to worry too much about that and I'll show you why here in a few minutes, so now all I have to do is just roll this material up pretty tight, so until have the thickness of a small arm here I don't want it to be too bulky, I'm probably going to cut a little bit of this off because I don't want it to be too fat, so I'm just going to cut a little bit of this material off and then I'm going to put a little dot of glue here to hold it in, I'll put a little bead in there and then just roll it up. this and just be careful not to burn yourself on this little seam, we don't have to worry about what it actually looks like because that's going to go underneath, we're going to tuck it underneath and that's going to be the bottom of it. little arm and I'm not going to worry about cutting it out because all of that will be covered with a little piece of felt and with that we're going to make the mitten at the end, so let me go ahead and I'll make the other little arm and then I'll show you how we're going to attach them, so now I have two little arms ready to attach to my little gnome girl here, so I'm just going to layer them.
Again and these, I'm going to make sure the seam is facing her body so we don't see that and I'm going to tuck this right under her little hat, close to her. hair, there we go like this, so again I'm going to lift this up. I like where it is because I don't have very long arms. I'm not going to push this too far in because I want as much time as possible. It sticks out as much here as possible, so I'm going to put a little bit of glue on the underside of the arm and then I'm also going to put a little bit of glue here on top of the sock to help. keep it in place right there, so next I'll show you how to make the little mittens.
Now Dollar Tree sells felt in all different colors and I think I have a lot of pink here and a lot of white. So I think it needs a little bit of red. I'm going to make him some little red gloves. To make it, all you need to do is take a small square of this felt. You don't need too much. I have to be precise that okay, take one of your little rubber bands here and then you're going to cover the little end of your little arm like this and take your little elastic and just twist it around the end here to make a little hand, that's how it works. go so far so you just have the end here tied with your little elastic now to make it look a little bit cuter you just need to trim this felt and you want to leave it a little bit so it looks like a little bit of a cuff so you just trim excess all around, but not too short, you want to leave a little bit, so there we go, there's a little glove and I'm going to go ahead and do the same thing on this side so you can see that she's really starting to take shape. .
Now these little mittens are so cute, but I just want to give them a little extra finishing touch to make them look even cuter, so what I'm going to do is I'm just going to wrap around a little bit of this baker's twine. I've seen Dollar Tree sell these things in the past. Hopefully you can find something, but if you can't, you can use thread or wool or whatever works, so I'm. I'm just going to take a little piece of this and I'm going to tie this in a little knot in a bow around your little glove, here we go and I'm just going to trim the ends here a little bit. how cute, it just tops it off and that way it also hides the little elastic bands, so before I tie this little baker's twine at the top where I have my pom pom, I'm also going to add a little bell, I think that's a little and nice touch, I also bought them at Dollar Tree during Christmas time and they came in gold, silver, small and large sizes, so I'm going to put this right there, there's a little hole here I am.
I'm just going to thread it in there and tie it up like this so you can see that her hair is too long, so I'm going to go ahead and just cut her hair off a little bit and then I'm going to tie it up with a little bit. of that baker's twine right here just to make it look a little neater. I mean, you can also leave it that way if that's the kind of look you were going for and it's also really cute, so yeah. I'm going to go ahead and give her a little haircut, here we go, that looks a lot better and now I'm just going to put some baker's twine right here to make it look very, very cute, although I think it needs some little embellishments.
Plus, you could totally leave it like that, but I need to add a few more things now. I wanted to put some feet of some kind or a base of some kind on it and what I came up with was these. If you can see here, she has this little platform and this whole thing is one of these little wooden chalkboard labels that I bought at Dollar Tree. It comes in a pack of four, so if you put it this way it looks like little feet. and you just drop it here, this gives it a nice flat support to stand on and they actually look like little feet, so I'm going to go ahead and glue it directly to this little base and what I did with the other one.
Ones were that I just took a little piece of paper, colored it black and stuck it back here so you wouldn't see this little hole here, so now my little gnome has little feet and a nice little platform. standing up to see it isn't all that amazing and I love how the black chalkboard blends so well with the little signs. I really like the way this one turned out with the black and black. I think it's really cute, it worked. all great now as far as the embellishment goes, oh my god you could go crazy if you wanted to keep it completely.
Dollar Tree, although Dollar Tree has some really cute little wooden cutout hearts, right now they also had like little wooden snowflakes at Christmas. Get all kinds of cool little decorations, but if you look around, I bet you already have things in your stash that you could use to beautify. The other thing I want to show you is on this little gnome. I put up some of these ornaments that I don't even know what this thing is called nap tic tac knack tack. I forget what the actual name of this is, but I don't remember what it's called and I just glued this along the edge of her little hat and I think I just somehow activated it for sure and I'll probably do the same thing with this little girl too because I think which would really make it look finished and very nice.
Now I think I want to put something in her belly too. I have some pretty little roses, uh, I don't know what these little flowers are called, they're bright. I also have these big hearts that I found at Dollarama the other day that would be cute. I want to put something on it. Hat too, the other thing I wanted to share with you are these adorable little bears I found everywhere. These guys were only 1.25 and came in cream, brown and white, so I already used the cream color. one on this little gnome now this one had a longer arm and it worked perfectly.
I just glued the arm right to the little teddy bear's neck here to make it look like she's carrying this little gnome, I think her arms are too short. I don't think she could carry one of these teddy bears, but again she looks for little miniature items like this. It could be very nice. I could hold a little tree. I could hold a little heart. You know, you could put a. little heart in her hand you can do all kinds of things you just have to use your imagination so here we go she is starting to look very cute I don't think I need to do much more with her, however I do want to add one more little black piece and I think this will be the perfect addition.
I'm going to write something on this little sign and I'm going to tape this to his little arm and have him hold it and I think that's all we're going to need, so every once in a while Dollar Tree carries these awesome paint pens, you can get them at different colors, they're from Jot, they work very, very well for writing on these little chalkboard signs, so yeah, I'm just going to go ahead and put something on this and then I'll put it on his little arm, so that's what I decided put on my little sign, a little play on words, no one loves you, that's if anyone loves you and I'm just going to go ahead and stick this to his little arm like this so it looks like he's grabbing it, so there you have it , there is our little gnome, oh my goodness, she was made from almost everything from the dollar tree. and I think she turned out very, very pretty.
I don't know anyone who wouldn't want to have this as a gift or just make something like this for you. I will definitely keep it. I think she turned out really cute, so I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial. I hope you try to make some little gnomes for yourselves and until next time, happy, let's not make everyone and I'll see you in the next one, bye for now.
