Gnomes Made From Dollar Tree Items!

Feb 27, 2020
Hello everyone share here with you welcome to my channel so today I have a new DIY that I am very excited to share with you. I haven't gotten back to it now, some of you may remember I

made

a video on how I make my little sock

gnomes

in the past, if you haven't seen that video I'll be sure to link it in the description box below, they are really super fun to make and very easy to make, and they make great gifts for Christmas, but I want to do something a little different this time and let me show you what I came up with, oh my gosh, I just love it, I think it's so cute now, I Believe it or not, almost everything I used to do for this little wine. from Dollar Tree yes, you heard me right, everything from Dollar Tree except these adorable little booties and I'll tell you where I got them in a minute.

I saw some of these

items

at Dollar Tree a while ago and immediately thought You know what, I bet I could make these up regardless and it worked like a charm, so let me show you in just a second what all of this entails and where all of these came from. fragments. First of all, I want to talk a little. A little bit about the boots, these particular ones I bought from my local shop since I bought them a couple of weeks ago and when I

made

this type I thought, oh my gosh, I want to make some more.

More Interesting Facts About,

gnomes made from dollar tree items...

I came back yesterday and found two more. so I grabbed last year they had these they were $4.99 so five

dollar

s in pennies from home and a few weeks ago I came across these at Walmart and I bought them thinking I was going to make them, you know, use them for boots nothing small. also and these were 398 at Walmart and I went back yesterday they had nothing left so I have enough to make 5

gnomes

so let me show you what you are going to need so let's start with the base or the body you will need a sock of some guy.

I actually bought this one at Dollar Tree. It comes in a pack of 2. You can use any color you want, although these also come from Dollar Tree. I love these socks. I had a couple of extra pairs. in my sock drawer so I'm probably planning on wearing these too and then I also found some gray socks that I don't wear anymore but you can actually wear any type of colored socks you want so next you'll need something to fill your little one with . gnome body with this particular one, I actually put some of these little glass beads on the bottom, just on the bottom, probably a third of it, just to help make them a little heavy, so we tipped them over and made them feel. nice and straight and then for the rest of it I just grabbed an old pillow that I had like to kick an extra one in and I'm just using the filling just taken out of the pillow.

I've seen pillows like this at Walmart for three or three. For four

dollar

s you can get them really cheap and it's cheaper to buy them that way than going to buy the stuffing at the craft store or something. Now, if you don't have cotton batting, you can use things like rice or beans, you can use sand or small pebbles, you can use all kinds of things, you know, take a look around your house and use whatever you have right now. Some people have asked me again about rice, you know not. I personally have trouble stuffing my little sock or snowman type gnomes with rice.
I have not had problems with insects. I haven't had any problems with mice or anything like that, but depending on where you live, if you live in a very humid environment, you know. so rice probably isn't a very good option for you or if you know you have bugs and stuff or mice you definitely don't want to use it so maybe stones or stuffing or whatever would be better to get a better idea for So, what Next thing you'll need is something to use on your beard. Now when I saw these tights at Dollar Tree the first thing that came to mind was oh my gosh that would make perfect gnome beards and it did.
Now, originally I wasn't planning on using this material for the hat as well, but when I started to take it apart I realized that there wasn't going to be enough for the hat, so what I did for the hat was use one of these skirts from dollar

tree

now. I hope you can still find a lot of these things and if you can't, you can use other things too. I've already made a hat out of this, I think. I'll be able to get at least two more out of that little

tree

skirt, but if you can't find that kind of thing, doll, trees wear scarves too.
This year I bought a few different plaid scarves and then I was also lucky enough to find some of these infinity scarves, now they would make great little hats too so just look around in the Burst case scenario, maybe go to Walmart to Buy some materials from your local craft store or fabric store. Now if you're looking for a cheap alternative to beard material, I've seen people use mop heads, believe it or not, and they actually look really cute, you can also use wool, you can use one of those cleaning towels very fluffy white ones for cars.
What they have at Dollar Tree is fine. I've seen people use those for their little beards for their gnomes. There are all kinds of things you could use but of course you can also go see your Michaels and get some faux fur and I've also seen it at Walmart and it's not too expensive so there are definitely other alternatives for beard and now for the nose, there are a few different options here as well. You can use a fun ball and paint it. you could use a little golf ball or a tennis ball, they all came from Dollar Tree and you could paint them too, but what I did was I took a piece of this kind of tan flesh colored felt and I discovered one of those. balls with this and that worked very, very, very well and in the past I also took like pantyhose and put some cotton balls in there and made a nose with that and that also works very well, so again, just use what you want. you just happen to have on hand now as far as adorning them, you can use whatever you want, but you can probably recognize this as coming from Dollar Tree.
These are just one of the little ornaments that come in a pack of 4, that little pom pom. It even came from Dollar Tree and what was that. A while ago I found these adorable little headbands and picked them up because I thought they were really cute little pom poms, so I used one of them. I got it from here, but you actually bought something yesterday at Dollar Tree. I found something black and I also found a white one so I'm planning on making some pom poms so the first thing I have to do is take this little stocking apart so I'm going to turn it inside out now if you have a stitch ripper this makes this job be really super easy, but if you don't have it, you're going to have to use your scissors carefully and start tearing out the little seam here. and then this whole thing will come apart very easily, so once you start, you can just keep pulling and it will practically come off, you don't have to be too gentle with it, so there's my little piece of faux fur. and I just removed all the little red strands that were still left behind and that's all Don now and I'm just going to brush your fur here a little bit to soften it so it's not so wild and crazy, so that's it. piece now, the rest of the stocking I can also use.
I'm going to go ahead and just take this apart, so what I did with my other gnome was use this felt part. I used this for the small gloves. the little mittens and I also used the rest to fill the hat and then I used this part for the little arms and I use it as material for the arms, so you could also make little legs with this if you wanted. Oh, and in this piece I also use the stuffing, so I use pretty much all the stuffing, nothing went to waste, which is amazing, so I've decided that this time I'm going to use the gray sock, so first of all.
I'm just going to put some of these little glass stones, beads, gems, whatever you want to call them, on the bottom. Here you can get them at Dollar Tree, they sell them too. I don't want you to get too many, so if they make them. it's pretty heavy so it's probably enough and then the rest I'll fill in here with my stuffing and when I have all of this stuffed and put together I'll show you what the next step is so you can make your gnome as big or as tall or as plump as you want , but I think it's probably about the same size as the other one I need.
I think it's good and to tie it you can use a rubber band like I'm using or you can just use some twine, thread or dental floss would work with anything so just tie this and then cut off the extra soft material that doesn't you need, here we go, there is our little body. I know it doesn't look like much yet, but trust me when we're done, it's going to be super cute, so the first thing we're going to put on our little body is the nose, so I cut a piece of this felt material and took one of those little golf balls and I'm going to cover it with this and I'm going to tie it inside a little elastic band like this.
I'll cut out all the extra stuff in here that we don't need, there we go and then what are we going to do? What I'm going to do is use a hot glue gun and we're going to glue the nose directly to our body like this, so I'm going to put a very generous amount of glue in place and you need to hold that for a little while. to make sure the glue hardens, now it's time for our beard, so what I'm going to do first of all is tie a little knot here so that when I push this up, it's nice and tight, it's going to fit over here. a little bit better, so I'm going to take my scissors and yeah, I'm just going to measure right in the middle here and make a little V cut, so I have just a little knot there so that when you put this on here and when I squeeze it tight you'll be able to see how it makes this fur go to the side like this and then you can fluff it up and make your little mustache not so cute, so let's go. go ahead, I'm just going to put a little bit of glue on this and we'll glue it in place, so I'm ready to go ahead and glue my little beard on now, so I'm going to go ahead and put a really nice, generous dot of glue on it. right here and just put this right under your nose and really pull and bring it up really high and squeeze it and we'll hold it for a few seconds until it hardens next.
I'm just going to add a little extra glue. Here just to hold these pieces here in the back like this, so our little gnome is already starting to take shape and I think he already has some kind of personality here, so now we have to make a hat for them. The next thing we need to do is take our little tree skirt here and figure out how much material you're going to need to put around its little head, so I'm going to go ahead and just measure, I'm not going to do that. I'll need a ton and then I'll be back.
I'm just going to show you how I make the little hat, so everything I've made is like a little hat and then I'm going to make sure that your head fits in there and it does. I'm going to go ahead and cut that out so I have my piece of fabric here now. Basically I just want to make sure that my seams match up here on the back and I'm not going to worry too much if I don't have exactly the right amount of material on the top here because it's going to be covered by a pom pom anyway, so I'm going to start gluing this as best as I can so this is what my little hat looks like I said I'm not worried about this yet because I'm going to put a pom pom in there anyway let's try this and see how it fits oh my gosh cute now before I glue this on instead I want to pad this out a little bit so it's where it's supposed to be on your head, so I'm going to use some of this extra material that I don't plan on using.
I'm going to use some of this, I'm going to stick it directly into the hat and the rest I'm going to fill with some of my pillow stuffing and then we can glue a little hat in its place and of course when I glue this in place, I'll make sure it's nice and comfortable like this and this is what it looks like on the back, super cute, so once you've decided where your hat should go and how low on the nose you'll want and then you can start gluing things, so I'm going to go ahead and put some glue here and stick my little hat like this, so I like to start here, on the nose, there we go, we'll leave that.
Prepare the next part that I am going to glue, it will actually be the back of the hat. I'm not going to do the sides yet because I plan on putting some little arms on this guy and that's exactly where I'm going to put them so they're tacked on once I put the little arms on so it's like this and hold it down so I pulled out my little pom pom headband here and I'm going to go ahead and glue it on. all the way to the end of the little one - careful, so I just put a little bit of glue in there and I'm really going to press this down and hold it there for a minute or so until it hardens.
Now you can leave your little gnome completely. like this and he's super cute without going any further than this, but I definitely want to take them to this level here, so the next step is to make him some little arms, so I'm going to use the leftover fabric from that stocking and this is perfect for the material for his little arms, so basically we're going to make two little long tubes and we're going to fill them with stuffing and I'm going to use the glue gun to glue them in place, so just cuta couple of strips here and then I'll glue the two little seams together and stuff them with some padding like what my little arm looks like so far.
Now this little seam I'm going to make sure it looks like on the inside. you won't be able to see that and now I just have to fill in, this is the hard part, I just use a pin and push this in here, this little tube that we need takes a little patience, it takes a little time, but once you have all this here, so you just measure how long you want your arm to be and then you just glue it under the hat below, so I'm going to go ahead and fill this little arm in and then I'll show you what the next step is, so I've got two little arms here that They're ready to attach to my gnome, so what I'm going to do is take the part that I didn't quite fill in. at the end and I'm going to tuck it right under the little hat here and then I'm going to glue it in place and then I'm going to glue the hat on top of the arms so everything stays in place really.
Well, the other thing I want to make sure is that this little seam that I glued here will be on the inside so that no one sees it. The first thing I want to do is glue this area right here and squeeze it so the filler doesn't come out like this, now I have kind of a flat area that I can place right under here, so I'm going to go ahead and do that next, so I'll just I'll put a nice bead of glue here. and I just slide that under the hat and I'll hold it in place for a few seconds and then I'll do the other side, so our little one needs to have some mittens made here because of course this looks really ugly on the end, like this that to cover them, all I'm going to do is take the extra felt from that stocking.
I'm going to cut it out as a little circle here, so I just took a piece. It's not at all precise and then I'm going to use a little elastic band here and all I'm going to do is put this right on top, put this little hand here and then I'm going to use that little elastic band and this is I'm going to make this little hand like this, it doesn't look very good yet, but what I'm going to do is cut all this extra off with my scissors, I want to leave it like a little ruffle around the edges, so I'm going to cut it close, but not too close if that makes any sense, so that it looks like a little ruffle that It looks pretty good, so there's a little glove and I'm going to go ahead and do the other side next, so here we are.
Both, some little gloves already made and yes, I think this looks very cute as is. You could leave it like this, but I want to cover these little rubber bands, so what I'm going to do is just take a little bit of this twine. and I'm just going to tie this up here and a little bow there we go, there's one as far as beautifying your little gnome, I'm like that, you could leave it just like that. I just moved on. and put some twine on the top of your little pom pom here, but you can also use little things like bells.
I also have these little vegetables that look like Holly and little holly berries so I think I'm actually going to put that up here I'm going to attach these so let's go ahead and make that so it looks like this and I'm just going to put these little berries right in the middle, there we go, that's what it looks like, you know me, everything a red truck needs, so I think I'm going to put up another one of these adorable little red truck ornaments. I'm going to put it on one of the trays. What I was thinking you could also use some of these little signs and you could fold them up. a little sign for the kids to limit what they want to put on the sign because "Merry Christmas" or "known for the holidays" that can be a cute thing, yeah that's it you just have to use your imagination and do what you want be. that makes you happy so I'm going to go ahead and place this little truck in his hand and then the last thing we need to do is see what it looks like with the little feet so I just took the little wire. hanging part of the ornament and I'm going to go ahead and glue this on, there we go.
I think it already has enough decorations. The other thing I was thinking about is whether or not you wanted to put little feet on. They're not like the little booties here, what you could do is use a little more of that material, make some little tubes again, make little legs and then he would know if he saw them on a counter, since the legs would hang over it at a side or on a shelf, that would look really cute, but of course, I'm going to put mine on these little boots, oh my gosh, so I'm going to have to put a little bit of glue here and drop them right on top there and that.
It's going to be so cute, oh my god, I can hardly stand it, it's so cute. I will definitely keep one of these. I think I'll have a hard time parting with everyone, so there you have it, there's our little gnome. Oh my gosh, I had so much fun putting this together. I hope you enjoyed it. I would love to know what you think of it, for very little money and very few supplies and everything comes from Dollar Tree with the exception of the boots. Of course, what an amazing little gift for someone. Think of a few people who would probably enjoy having one of these little guys, so until next time, happy creating everyone.
I hope your Christmas preparations go well and see you next time, goodbye. for now everyone
