Dollar Tree Gnomes shoe and boot part 2

Jun 04, 2021
Hello everyone, welcome back, my name is cassandra. If you are new, make sure to hit the subscribe button because on this channel I try to share new inspiration, new DIYs on a budget, so today I wanted to share with you the second

part

of our

gnomes

. What I'm doing today is making

shoe

s and this is the easiest way I've found to make the little gnome juice and you can customize them however you want so let's get started now. To start, I took two. pill bottles and then I'm actually using cardboard here you can use foam board or cardboard either way it works just as well so what I do is I lay it out and then I just trace a rectangle because it's a lot easier that way than try it.

To figure out the pattern, okay, so now that you've got it nice and secure, you'll simply use a pair of scissors or an x-acto knife and then keep cutting until you get the exact shape of the sole you want. I would like to make them a little taller since I'm creating a

boot

here. I just took a toilet paper roll or a paper towel roll, cut it in half and made sure both

shoe

s were exactly the same height and then I glued it around the pill bottle, this just gave it, like I said, a little more height since I was creating

boot

s for this shoe.

Now for the front of the shoe I went ahead and added another small piece to go around just to give it more definition for the front and just use what was left over from the toilet paper roll and then cut them again evenly for both shoes . One

part

I forgot to show was that I actually added masking tape to the very top of the shoe, um, it just helped shape it and hold it together before adding my fabric. Now for my fabric, I'm just going to lay it out widthwise to get a good guide of where I want it and then actually tape it before I cut it that way I can see exactly what I'm cutting now for the next step, after After cutting it completely, I'll take some glue on the front and then create two folds.

Lowering it gives a slightly cleaner finish. Now for this part, I went ahead and added some of that thicker jeep thread, like I said in my previous videos. I love that thread so I thought. It looked pretty cute on this so I went ahead and added that now if you don't want to add that that's perfectly fine customize it and make it your own now when you add the g thread if you're going to or whatever you want. I would like to add, make sure you start at the back of the shoe when you add the glue, that way you will end up in the exact same place and help hide any imperfections.

Well, guys, this will be our last step for this. Let's add our faux fur for the boot. Now I suggest you lay the material up to the boot just to get a good size before you start cutting and something I mentioned in my last video when you cut faux leather please. Make sure you flip it back over and slide your razor or exact knife through it and separate it at the same time, don't cut it all the way through because you'll have a more choppy look or Let's get rid of a lot of the fur that you really want now, shoe number two.
What we are going to do is take a roll of paper towel and cut it into two separate pieces, making sure that both sides are identical sizes now I have discovered that for the next step, if you take a roll of toilet paper, you can cut it in half and place it and then cut two identical strips, these are the two pieces that you are going to join to make the front of the shoe before putting it on the cardboard now we take the cardboard or the foam board as you prefer we are going to place the shoe there and then we will to trace a rectangle just like we did I did on the last one like I said, I think it's a lot easier if we already have the shoe on and then we go back with a pair of scissors cutting it out and shaping it the way we want and then we try to create a pattern if you already have a pattern that's fine I don't so I found these to be a lot easier so what I would like to do is on top once I have my base or my soul I would like to get a pattern. a little bit of padding, go ahead and then stick it to the front of the shoe and then once we're done with this, you don't need much, just a little bit, you go ahead and add the masking tape on top and it will form the front of the shoe and will keep it nice and in place for you, so for this shoe I went ahead and decided to use the burlap.
I bought a panel from Dollar Tree and they sell them from time to time. You can find them, but like I mentioned before, these shoes can be so customizable that you can put any pattern, any type of fabric that you want with them, be creative, do what you want honestly and they are also great because if you don't attach them. You give them completely to the gnome and only have them underneath as a support, change them for the holidays or the seasons. They are very cute and adorable and fun to work with once you get started.
I promise you, you'll probably want to get started. By doing a couple a week that way, you will have tons of little shoes for your little gnome and another tip, like I said before, every time you start putting something in the shoes, whether it's burlap or juice wine, always starts from the back like that. If you have any imperfections or the line is not straight, it's on the back, you can't see it, so that's a quick tip, something I always keep in mind. I always try to start from the back for the next step. You're going to take a drop of glue and you're going to put it on the inside of the toilet paper roll or whatever you're using and then you're going to fold the middle end over while pushing down on the bottom to create sort of a little gap or a little crease, then you're going to start folding each side in and folding it with a dot glue as well, okay, so I'm going to go ahead and add a strip of fur on top since you know my boots.
It had fur, I had to put a little fur on my booties too, so I just folded the excess fabric on top and then I also added a little button where I had folded it on the front now before you. add a button, you can always add a little bow of thread or whatever you want on the front, there you have it, so there is the boot and the shoe that we have created today, try it, I promise it can look very intimidating. at first, but it's not, it's such a cute and simple project.
