record

for the game so far, the oldest world

record

for shrekmania has just been

broken

, a legendary record that has stood at the top of the leaderboards uncontested for over 14

year

s, so Usually, when such legendary world records are

broken

, the achievements are widely celebrated in the games. It's something that should have been big news, but very few people know it happened, so today, in this video, I'm going to tell you the incredible story of the record that stood for 14 years and the long and difficult effort to break it. just before. just getting started I've noticed a lot of my viewers aren't subscribed so if you haven't subscribed to the channel yet please consider doing so it really helps me. and lets you know when new track media is coming out. with a right turn and some booster blocks where the car quickly gains speed before going up the hill and over anti-boosts where the car loses speed quickly after that, jump through the checkpoint down the hill and build up a lot of speed with the boosters before climbing the circuit and reaching the finish line at first glance e4 is a fairly simple track with only a few different parts where you can gain or lose a significant amount of time which begs the question of how you could A record lasting 14 years on e4 and to answer that question we'll have to go back to 2006.

In April 2006, three months after the game's release, the world record on e4 was 22.33 seconds for Nero even though e4 it was already a pretty linear track nero had something going for it Right off the bat, to save time on the first descent, he let go of the throttle in the air so he could land as soon as possible in the quarter pipe, which which caused him to temporarily lose a bit of time, but he made it up and sped on the next straight. after jumping through the checkpoint he slowed down so he could keep full grip on the downhill getting a lot more speed for the finish for his time, this was very solid from nero and the track already looked almost optimized, but that's when things were about to change drastically on june 3rd 2006 victor started driving a race on e4 that would become legendary in the first drop down victor didn't let go of throttle like nero and lost a significant amount of time the next turn wasn't optimal either and coming to the end he was over half a second behind nero's world record but here's the thing victor wasn't really trying to beat nero the reason victor was playing e4 on this d in particular ouch it was because he wanted to go up to the roof of the stadium and his idea was to use the loop at e4 as a launch ramp to get there so victor led a casual run across the track ready to jump on the roof when this happened that day victor never made it to the roof of the stadium when he left the circuit he missed and flew right into the post and the redirection of his crash sent this car flying straight towards the finish line then he hit the line from the bottom and the race counted effectively skipping the entire last loop and beating nero's world record by almost a second 21-37 this race is perhaps the biggest happy little accident in

trackmania

history victor hadn't even conceived the idea that there might be a shortcut on the track all he wanted to do was just explore the roof of the stadium and because he missed and missed the jump to get there he ended up with a world record instead when people heard about the new record from victor they were shocked and rightly so even vic tor said in his own words i dont know what happened but i am very very happy but what really happened was a little oversight From the developer when creating the game, the finish line was clipped slightly into the floor of the finished block, meaning it could be crossed under a bug that would later become known as a bug finisher now that the race was on for to be the next person to do it, as the shortcut saved so much time that any completion would be good enough to place in the top 10. and remembering that victor start wasn't the best one finish might even be enough for a world record the idea that a jerk hit on a miss finish was all that stood between you and your first

trackmania

world record was appealing and in the days that followed many players tried to beat him but no one succeeded, players

finally

realized that this was not just an ordinary luck based shortcut where given enough time and try you will eventually get a completion, this was different to do things. worse as you go down the booster hill, the game locks your car into the internal camera perspective to help you see where to go on the circuit, but on the other hand, it makes seeing where you're flying on the shortcut almost a breeze. impossible for you. what he could really do was go off the loop and hope for the best and despite thousands of players trying exactly that no one else managed to complete it, 2006 came and went and the record would stand until 2007 with no entrants in April. 2008 things changed once again when adio released their new game Trackmania Nations Forever a rework of Track Media Nations eswc with better graphics and also better multiplayer Nations Forever was an instant hit and many Eswc players quickly switched to the new play.

More Interesting Facts About,

a 14 year old trackmania record was finally broken...

The games would still have active player bases for the next time, but eventually Nations was established for good as the track mania game, leaving ESWC in an awkward place as 2010 and 2011 C Calls and Gone with only a handful of players left. competitive players in the game the general consensus at the time was that the victor's record could stand forever most players had left the game and those still around didn't want to bother with such a lucky hint and as it passed time, there was a growing problem for those who really wanted to try the track. driver star force driver would be a disaster for eswc as with each new iteration of windows the driver would cost more and more bugs preventing players from starting the game but in october 2012 windows 8 was released and if you install the latest version of windows then eswc would become impossible to access the number of players who had old enough computers with old enough operating systems to start the game became less and less but in 2015 there was a little resurgent activity a generational shift in the track mania where all players were leaving the game and new players were coming in many of the new players had heard the legendary story of the accidental world record being set on e4 and wanted to give the track one they shot themselves including me in 2015.
a 14 year old trackmania record was finally broken
I myself started playing e4. I didn't have access to drake media nation eswc so I was playing a new version of the track on trackmania Nations forever tmn race e4 where the shortcuts hadn't been done yet by anyone. track I was able to experience first hand how incredibly difficult the shortcut was, it seemed impossible, but having said that I knew I could get the shortcut, I was getting more consistent and getting excruciatingly close attempts that were only a few pixels away from reaching the bug finish would still play tm and race e4 off and on racking up 100+ close rebound attempts to the python and 200+ hours of play time hoping to recreate the miracle victor had done all those years ago and on. one night in march 2018 two and a half years after i started playing the track i

finally

got this run it took me 12 years but finally the e4 shortcut was done a second time. victor's record would go unbeaten while driving my trackmania nations career forever though to beat victor's record you would have to have access to eswc and at this point basically no one did but two years later in may 2020 there was a spark. of hope when, seemingly out of nowhere, the russian youtube channel, reactive cd, uploaded this video to youtube on how to run trackmania eswc on windows 8 and windows 10. to get the game to boot, reactive cd had made its own patch for star force all by itself that it was compatible with modern versions of Windows and sure enough, when players downloaded the game and tried it, the patch suddenly worked.

Hed since 2012. A treasure had just been discovered that had been buried in the world for the past eight years. In the days after the patch, many world records would drop immediately as player skill levels had risen much higher than they were in the old one. days, but one record that still stood strong was e4 victor's record at this point, it had gone unbeaten for 14 years, but now that getting access to the game was no longer an issue, who would be crazy enough to try to top it? ? That's where tmb comes in tmb was also one of the players who had tried to shortcut tmn race e4 all those years ago and as soon as he heard about the new patch he immediately downloaded the game and ripped the original track for the next few weeks and months tmb would get many close attempts, sometimes barely missing the end of the error, he knew he could get the record and people were motivating him to keep going and then on August 9, 2020 history was made when after h having lifted the world record for 14 years and 2 months, Victor's record was finally broken.
TMB had done it 21-13 2400 seconds faster than Victor. victor's immortal world record had finally been broken it's crazy to look back and think that this whole series of events would never have happened if victor hadn't failed to jump into the stadium 14 years ago but alas here we are at the end of a decade-long effort to go a few hundred faster in a racing game because in track media, as with other things in life, it's in our nature to want to push the limits and, as a man once said wise man the difference between the impossible and the possible often lies in a man's determination if you found this video interesting please subscribe so you don't miss future uploads and i'll see you all in the next video thanks for watching
