, okay, Dollar Tree has a ton of different canvases, especially in the Crafter section Square they have. eight by ten and five by seven and four by six and six by eight, so there are a lot of different options. Today I'm using a bunch of eight by ten, but in the end I use a little smaller, but for all of these projects.

I'm just going to be using the wood from these canvases so the first thing I like to do to remove the canvas is turn it inside out and then cut it with a knife that I just cut on the outside of the staples and then go ahead and do it on this particular project. I had to remove the staples from most of the back of these, but I think going ahead I just left them in places you wouldn't notice them, but go ahead and remove the staples from the back, I just like to use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove them and you can also take a flat head screwdriver and some sort of wedge under them.

I go ahead and glue them together to make some wood. box and then I'm going to go ahead and paint them with truffle paint. Now I'm making a kind of lantern. I know lanterns can be tricky, sometimes it's hard to make the top, especially if you're trying to find the top. little triangular top, so for this I just wanted to make a really cool little decorative box that I could decorate to look like a lantern, but it doesn't take that much work so it's really easy to put together. I decided to go ahead and put a base on top of this, so using some of my giant popsicle sticks, I pick up these big packs from Walmart.

I go ahead and cut off the rounded edges so I can glue them together and make a little flat bottom. I want my little flashlight box. to continue with more of my rustic farmhouse, so I'm going to go ahead and dry brush some mineral chalk paint on top of this truffle brown and just try not to saturate it too much, just lightly brush on there and not worry by It's uniform, but it just gives it this beautiful weathered wood look and I think it looks lovely with a rustic farmhouse. I didn't worry too much about it being perfect.
If it bothers you, you can fill the small holes on the edges with wood filler. and sand them, but I love how it's not perfect and just makes it look more rustic. I had made some candle holders a few videos ago, so I'm just going to remove the candle holder and put the small plate in there. It was already decorated with this LED candle from Dollar General. I put some of my little floral picks from Walmart in there, but that's how they came together. I think it really adds flavor to any small display of lit candles and looks very pretty for the next project.
I'm going to share how I put together a small decorative window with these canvases once again. I'm using eight by ten after removing the canvas you can see that a couple of small wood panels are different colors and different. woods, so I end up painting this. I was thinking about staining it but I know the paint will cover all the imperfections so I'm going to go ahead and glue them together and since they will be one larger piece you have to hurry up and glue all the sides that are going to touch before putting them all together, so remember to do it.
I'm going to do a little different style. I have made a window with these same canvases before and I will put a picture here and it turned out very beautiful, so for this project I wanted it to be a longer panel that I could put up, maybe make two of them and place them on either side of my TV , but I think this is a really cool piece and it's made as a larger piece just using six

dollar

s worth of canvases, so I glue them together and the way I want and then I'm going to go ahead and like I'm painting them anyway, I'm going to go ahead and make this as pretty as I can by filling in all those cracks with wood filler, sanding it down and giving it a more perfect base, so I think it was coming together really well.
I knew I wanted to too. to distress this window so I chose a medium gray color this is the steel color of Waverly chalk paints so I go ahead and make sure to cover all the little cracks and edges so I can dry brush it with a little of my darker elephant color and it gives you the perfect combination. I also like to do it the other way around if I'm painting something dark with the elephant color. I also like to dress it with the lightest color, but this was just what I wanted to wear today, I think it looks great.
I love how it makes that dark gray pop and look like a really rustic farmhouse. Much of my decoration. My house is gray. I wanted to add a little wreath to this window. so I bought this mini wreath from Dollar Tree and then I bought this beautiful striped ribbon from Walmart in the fall section and I was so excited to go ahead and start using it so I'm going to be able to use this ribbon hang it from the window so that the pattern will really show through and then make a little matching bow to go at the bottom.
I wanted my floral to be really good quality so I'm using some lamb's ear from Walmart and this is two dollars. For two little stems here and this is such a good quality, I just went ahead and cut those long stems and curve them and make them stick out from each side of the bow. Also from the fall section at Walmart, I purchased this cute little wooden one. welcome sign with the green gingham in the background, which I thought matched the colors of this window perfectly and like I said, if I made two on each side of my TV, I could change them because they only had welcome and harvest. these signs and I wouldn't want them to say that all year long, but it would be very easy to swap them out as you can see, I just put that string inside that ribbon and then after I glue it on, I can al

ways

swap out easily.
Take that sign out and retie a new side in the front, but this is how they come together. I think it's a beautiful piece and it's so fun to make a large wall decor with Dollar Tree for just a few dollars. I had to share those others. projects with you first because they were definitely at the top of my favorites list in this video, but I want to go back to basics and show you a really quick 10 minute project that's super easy to use with these canvases that I know. I made some farmhouse signs using these canvas inserts a couple of years ago or maybe last year and I shared with you one dollar farmhouse signs and these little canvases are the perfect frames to make farmhouse decor and I know you all are doing, but I just wanted to share this video with you if you haven't seen them before, but I remove the canvas like I said just using the razor or the knife and I cut around the staples, I take the canvas out, I paint the frame and then you can to put any type of wall art you want on the back of this little sign, I love using Dollar Tree canvases, that's how I got my wall art, but Dollar Tree definitely sells tons of signs and paper or decorative folders or whatever whatever you want.
To put it here, I'm using this little farmhouse calendar that says live the simple life, which I thought was adorable and I love how the rustic black and white wood is and it lets my lighter brown frame take off from there now that it's not I would. Insert your wall art like this one or your canvas page. I definitely recommend modifying it and putting it on a piece of cardboard and mine had wrinkles because I didn't give it a backing at the beginning and added the backing at the end, but I definitely recommend not doing it out of order, but I go ahead and use some of this little and thin black and white buffalo check tape or checkered tape glue on top I added a piece of cardboard on the back for stability and that's how simple it is. is to create this gorgeous dollar

tree

wall art or um this is a perfect little table decoration and you can style it with pumpkins or a little bit of flowers but it looks so elegant and nice I'm so proud to have made this for a dollar and then speaking of larger wooden wall signs or decor, I wanted to go ahead and share this trick with all of you, so many times when you want to use the small wooden canvases, it's fun to make wall art or decorative pieces. but they are very small and you can't make them very big, but there is a way that if you hack this you can get bigger posters, so I am using a pair of these new little scissors that I bought on Amazon and it takes a lot of strength to cut this, but it works.
I'll link them below if you're interested, but I'll go ahead and just cut the bar, the bar on the end of two canvases so I can put them together. I go ahead and hot glue them on the ends, but I want to stabilize them, so I put a popsicle stick on the back to give them extra support and then using some wood filler, I'm going to go ahead and camouflage that crack. I decide to go ahead and paint this one again with the truffle color, but I'm not going to mess it up again with the light mineral color.
I want this one to look a little different and darker and I'm going to put a big black word on the front, so I want the frame to coordinate with that, so I'm going to dry paint some black over that. I make sure to take my wood filler and fill those little grooves on the edges. the fact that the frame fits together just makes it look more like a big piece of solid natural wood instead of having those holes in the edges and then I needed a backing for this and I wanted it to look like white shiplap so I took some from My Giant Popsicle Sticks again, I paint them white and then cut them to size and hot glue them to the back.
I thought one of these big and small, um, I guess it's MDF, but one of these wooden words, um, from Dollar Tree was perfect. For this they have these big, really nice words, they come as a family grateful and they gather together, so for this sign I wanted to do grateful, which is something I could use all year round. I have already used the family sign on a small white picket fence. Very grateful, I'm going to paint it black. I recommend spray painting them if possible. I'm not sure how spray paint works on this particular material.
I know some mdf doesn't take spray paint very well, but know that as long as you do it. When painting this with a brush, it's hard to get into all the little crevices and corners of a cursive word like this, so like I said, while I still have black on my brush, I go ahead and just rub it over the edges and then Paste I hot glue the word of thanks and I feel like it looks like a nice high-end craft that can be made using only materials from Dollar Tree, so every time I take these canvases apart and keep that piece of wood, I get so inspired to create a kind of wooden box.
I know wooden boxes are so beautiful and popular this time of year when we're entering fall and then it's something that you can fill with pumpkins and flowers and make it all pretty and then as soon as it's Christmas. When you come you can take it out and put in some berries, holly branches from the dollar tree as well as some different little ornaments or just decorate it for all seasons so I wanted to make a rustic brown box that I could use all year round. I'm not going to add a lot of fall words or anything on the front, but to create this I'm using some smaller canvases this time because I didn't want this box to be just huge, so these canvases are six by eight and they still sell them at the Dollar Tree and then I needed some little wooden boards around the edges, so once again, using some of my giant popsicle sticks, I place them on top of my little wooden box and then I can cut them out.
Cut down to size, I was going to leave it like that, but since the corners just don't match perfectly, I thought I'd create a little nook that would look really nice and elegant compared to the small gaps it looks and how it's not cut perfectly. So I go ahead and cut them out and then glue them on all four sides and then I wanted to add a base to this so that all the pieces I put in don't fall off so I go ahead once again. and take more popsicle sticks and create a nice flat bottom.
I'm painting this one more time with my truffle chalk paint, but I think fall is the perfect time toincorporate all warm browns and don't use gray as much. and definitely not as much white, so I want warmer brown colors, which is why I'm using a ton of brown in this project, but go ahead and paint this with the chalk paint. I tried to do a couple coats to get everything nice and covered and then I make sure to go ahead and paint the inside, you won't see it all but in case I ever want to take it out and use it for something else you'll be prepared I tried mix a lighter color using a little bit of the mineral color so I couldn't get the color exactly how I like it so I kept adding it in there.
I wanted it light, but not too light to see like in my other project I did, so I'm going to go ahead and brush this out. I tried to make sure I went in the direction of the popsicle stick so in the center I went to the side and then on those edges it just became more vertical to make it look like more realistic wood to give it some rustic handles. I'm using some dollar tree nautical rope and I just tied a couple of ends in there so I can go ahead and hot glue them together, you could drill holes.
Drill a hole and make them legit if you want, but these are just going to be decorative and I'm not going to dwell on this too much, so I'll know to be careful with them and then to complete this, I'll do it. Using some packing paper that came in a recent package I received, I just go ahead and put it in there so I can build this flower. I'm using greenery from Walmart and Dollar Tree berries from Dollar Tree. I think this pumpkin comes from hobby lobby which is that beautiful vintage striped pumpkin and then I went ahead and filled it with burlap leaves and filled in the edges just to make it look nice and full and then it turned out to be this beautiful little box of five bucks I think It looks adorable and legit for this fall season.
