May 03, 2020
Hello, what's up guys? Here mkbhd and this is the

macbook

2015

, the new revision of the

macbook

. This laptop has been out for a while and people have chosen whether they want to buy it or not but I still wanted to give my opinion and my impressions on it since I have been using it for a while and I will just let you know what I think of it as it exists now, so right away the number one reason this machine exists and the biggest advantage it has over any of its competitors is its thinness and lightness, it's the most portable laptop I've ever used by far, it measures only 35 millimeters at its thinnest point and 135 millimeters at its thickest point and weighs just 2.03 pounds, which is about as much as two iPad Airs, the two main sacrifices Apple had to make to be so thin are the keyboard and the trackpad, which are actually your main ways of interacting with the laptop.

The trackpad, which initially seems like a workaround just to fit into the slimmer body. It actually happens to be one of the best features of the laptop, so instead of the normal physical springboard mechanism that works for most laptops, the MacBook has a solid piece of glass that doesn't move and then simulates the sensation of clicks with a vibration. engine and it's very convincing, so it feels like you're clicking on a normal quality trackpad, although it's not normal, as a bonus you also get this clicking sensation basically everywhere on the glass, so not only In the middle like normal laptops, you get different functionality. for different levels of pressure, which is where the name Force Touch comes in, so Force Touch acts as a sort of more information button that allows you to scroll through media or get definitions of words that you force Touch in Safari and things like that.

More Interesting Facts About,

2015 macbook review...

I don't use forced touch much, but overall I definitely like the touchpad on this laptop. The keyboard, on the other hand, is definitely something I don't like on this super slim laptop. Apple switched from the normal chiclet style keys that are lit like all. Apple keyboard for the last few years to these butterfly switches which make them slimmer but that also means there is almost zero travel and zero clicks, it's a very soft unresponsive keyboard and I'll be honest, after a few weeks I really liked it. I got used to writing. on this keyboard and I stopped making mistakes and double pressing letters so many times, but that doesn't mean I enjoyed it, but at least it's possible to get used to it, but the other thing is that it's not a standard keyboard layout either, as you can see . by the arrow key it's all squashed literally the only advantage of this keyboard is that it's backlit and it doesn't look terrible but hey all in the name of thin and light also apparently it was too thin for a sized webcam normal because I have this 480p webcam on the new MacBook, it doesn't look terrible, actually it doesn't look horrible, anyway apart from the keyboard and trackpad this is a really nice, quality and well built laptop, As it should be for the price, the screen in particular is incredible.

It's a sharp Retina display and has a resolution of 2304 by 1440, which probably looks a little strange in a 16 by 10 aspect ratio, but that just means you can switch between a couple of scaled resolutions that affect the size of the screens. things on the screen. screen and can be a fairly bright screen for normal viewing, watching videos or gaming, but it also gets quite dim for dark environments. Another thing that's amazing just below the screen is this speaker, just holy, it's really good, like the best speakers I've ever met. heard on a laptop, well I don't know how they did that but this sounds 50 times its size it's amazing and yes the rest of the laptop is just metal with the classic aesthetic of the modern Apple laptop so that the base for this machine is I arrived here in space gray, it costs $300 and has a 1.1 gigahertz m Intel core, 8 gigs of RAM, 256 gigs of storage, and integrated Intel graphics, so it's clearly not a power at all and the computer itself, like inside this body, is actually about the size. of an iphone and it's housed right near the speaker the rest is just battery just full of battery in each space no fan so it's quiet no vents it can get a little hot but it's just computer and battery Apple claims nine hours of battery life I found out I have more than six of course I'm using Chrome not Safari so it's probably a pretty big hit and if you try to do anything much heavier than browsing the web you'll hit a wall pretty quickly .

I definitely want it plugged in for that, so it's so thin and light that lately I find myself using it more often in places where I would normally have used my tablet, so it fits in the same compartments as my Nexus 9 and my iPad. It's only a little bigger than them, but it's just as light in essence and has a much better screen, has a keyboard and has a lot more built-in functions, so it may seem a little strange to think of it this way, but it's been a Awesome tablet replacement, so if you've heard of this laptop before or now, you've probably heard of its infamous single port, it's a single port on the side, I hope you like the dongles in your hand, but oh well, at least it's USB Type C.
So USB-C is one of the most versatile at least one port solutions you can have. I wish I had two or three, maybe one on each side or something, but for now it's not that hard to adapt. you still have to adapt to it, but there are some adapters obviously on the dongles. Apple makes about 80 dongles. It would suck if you lost one of those, but there are also some cheaper third party ones, but as long as you want to connect one. accessory beyond just power or something like a mouse you'll have to get an adapter so I bought a bluetooth mouse so I don't have to use a dongle for that but anytime I want to do something beyond charging like plug it in on a printer or a monitor or something or just reading an SD card, you need that dongle.
The USB port also allows you to charge with a portable battery if you're in a pinch, but that's pretty slow, so charging with the included USB charger takes about two hours and the only downside is that there's no LED charging light like the that it would have a Magsafe charger, but actually the fact is that I found myself using this machine very similar to how I would use a tablet or at least I was using it in many of the same situations as a tablet, so I didn't really use it. I mentally compared it to other laptops even though it costs 300 dollars and even though it is shaped like a laptop, I still compared it to a tablet so the fact that it only had one port didn't really bother me, I didn't use it in many situations in the ones that needed more than one port and the fact that it has a soft keyboard didn't really bother me because basically every solution adding a keyboard to a tablet has the same problem.
The battery life would have been better on a tablet than this, but I don't want to make excuses, but it is a great tablet replacement, that being said, if you plan on using this all the time. a primary laptop, you might want to consider spending your $1,300 on somewhere more power-hungry or energy-efficient, like you can get a MacBook Air right now or many other lightweight, fan-powered laptops that aren't as pretty and elegant like this. but you will get more for your money in that department, but as far as the things i use for this, they actually turned out to work very well, so i'm not afraid to say it, i really like the new macbook in many ways. ways it reminds me of a super premium tablet experience it's quiet it's fast it has an awesome screen the only thing stopping it from being like my main laptop is the fact that i do more intensive things on my laptop that require more performance like video editing photo editing audio editing those are the kind of things that might require the word professional at the end of the name, but even if you're looking at something like this and you have $1,300 to spend, you could still get a macbook air, so this is a beautiful and amazing machine but you probably shouldn't buy it and with that being said the second generation of this is a first generation product will certainly be much better and a much better buy now if you have got this far and you're still thinking that this is a laptop for you at least keep this in mind it can't be upgraded in any way you can't really get into this machine and upgrade anything so when you get it upgrade the ram upgrade the storage make sure you have enough to last you as long as you plan to use this thing, but that's basically it, it's one of my favorite laptops that, again, you probably shouldn't have the same thing I said about the Chromebook. pixel anyway thanks for watching and I'll talk to you in the next video peace
