YouTuber Books

May 29, 2021
Hey kid, welcome back to I don't need a haircut, you need a haircut, okay, we both need a haircut, remember the

books

, yeah, me neither, but I was doing a little research and apparently that's where it was. You buy because it makes you feel smart to have it. one, but you never have time to read it because video games are more fun and that's what

books

are. One thing I've noticed over the last decade is how aware I've been of YouTuber books despite not having really been involved with YouTube until about three or four. years ago because of the size of their audience, when people like Shane Dawson or Tyler Oakley or Dan and Phil published a book, I always ended up seeing it displayed front and center in a Barnes & Noble store, at some point I think it just became on what to do when you reach three million subscribers see how to write a book now I guess maybe it's because of how cool it is to be able to add the New York Times bestseller to your Twitter timeline or, like many other things, maybe It's just because your manager told you that you could make a lot of money if you wrote a book, so you wrote a book.

I think something that a lot of people may not realize about YouTubers is how many business decisions they have made that have been influenced by the management team that has inevitably come in and pounced on them to tell them to diversify. I mean, the YouTube channel is doing pretty well for now, but would it really hurt if you started a podcast and wrote a book and started doing live shows and streaming and posting on Twitch? a hundred times a week instead of just once. I would love to earn more money. I mean, I would love for you to make more money.

More Interesting Facts About,

youtuber books...

If you're wondering why it seemed like so many YouTubers were on tour at the same time, look, no. beyond the MC endpoints or the multi-channel network because there are only a handful of popular MC endpoints that have so many creators under their umbrella that practically everyone gets the same advice at the same time, here at the giant companies, we see that this is not the case . just one of our 900,000 creators, but as an individual with a unique story to tell and that is why we have carefully selected you and only you are the perfect partner for this new project, you write a book and we make most of the money. that Jam sound, okay, now I want to make it clear that I will not be making this video for every

youtuber

book ever written.
youtuber books
I'm not saying that just because a book is written by a YouTuber that it's bad or just because a YouTuber does a live show that that means it's not very well organized that's not true what's true is that these things tend to drift apart. , like the truly talented creators who just happened to be on YouTube, from the people who clearly only do it because it seemed like the right business thing to do to make those kinds of books read very differently, since it's very obvious that much of what you're reading is there simply to fill a purposeless space that can't be edited because then the book wouldn't be long enough, for example, in Jake Paul, you have to want it.
youtuber books
It starts with a short about me section with some descriptive things, like how old is he, what does he do, it seems like he's on Disney Channel so I hope he does well. okay because that's all information, this is a section about me and these are things that describe him, but then he runs out of information, he just starts listing nonsense, I'm wearing sweatpants, there's a place around the corner from where I live that has amazing smoothies. my favorite is peanut butter and jelly. I bought one a few minutes ago, so it immediately became very clear that we're just reading the stream of consciousness of this guy who was sitting there writing, picked up his smoothie to take a sip, and then said, oh, I should write about the smoothie because I don't even What is this book?
I'm not so sure he even knew what this book was going to be or why he was writing it until he finished writing it. Finish the About Me section with my brother. Logan is telling me this book should be about girls, but I say no, this book is about waiting, that's a good question, what is this book about? And to me at least that seems like something that maybe I should have tried to figure out. Before you get to this point, you know a book is going to be good when the author openly admits that he made it up while saying what's that famous line at the beginning of Philosopher's Stone, Harry Potter, the boy who did something significant that he hadn't imagined. .
I know what, but I'll let you know what I do from what I can tell. This book is about motivation, positivity, and shirtless Jake Paul. It's about encouraging you to pursue your dreams and face your fears. Written by a teenager whose advice is terrible. Move with deliberate courage Ignore the naysayers Take the word no and turn it around What will I be successful at? He then tells a story about how one time he and Logan were driving to Las Vegas and he turned to him and said, let's see how fast this thing can go, proceed to drive 170 miles per hour, that's too fast, that's driving. recklessly, you could go to jail for a year for driving so fast, but maybe that's the point, maybe the lessons like there are no shortcuts in life.
Work smarter, not harder, don't drive as fast as I did, no, quite the opposite, in fact, I'm going to shoot like that all the time, which is my approach to everything, it should be yours too, listen to that guys, They should always drive one hundred and seventy miles an hour towards your dreams, that is criminally bad advice, no one should listen to this maniac say that. I'm going to continue reading. I listen to a lot of rap. I'm identify whit him. I know rappers exaggerate to make their songs sound louder. Street, but when I decipher the lyrics, they're mostly about things that have happened or are happening to those guys as they fight their way to the top, nothing will stop them they say, and I know exactly what they mean, this is the funniest I've ever read in my life at one point he describes his own birth, which is a funny line on its own, he says he was born three weeks early.
He couldn't wait, which is typical of me and it's so funny that I like it. brag about being born. Too soon, my mom was only pregnant with me for a week and a half before I came out. Yes, my arms and legs don't work and I'm only four inches tall, but I couldn't wait to get out into the world. and I start with the YouTube channel, but getting to the heart of the book, there is a very strange chapter where Jake talks about his first crush, Megan Fox, from Transformers. She was 10 years old and I thought the movie was the best thing I had ever seen in my life.
I also thought Megan Fox was the sexiest girl in this universe at that age. I knew the word sexy but not its meaning. I can't say I walked out of the theater thinking Megan was hot, but I walked out of the theater thinking about Megan, which was something considering I thought the cars and trucks in the movie were super hot too and I spent a lot of time thinking about them. What did I just read when I was ten years old? I thought Megan was sexy but I didn't know she was sexy. because I didn't know about sex yet, but she was my girlfriend and cars were my girlfriend and I will always love them, but in case it wasn't already obvious, this is where the book starts to get oh, suddenly, not Jake anymore.
He no longer tells us how to achieve our dreams and follow our goals, but instead really focuses on the female teen audience by teaching them everything about boys. This chapter called Hello Ladies is his experience with puberty, something that for some reason he tells us at one point. It inadvertently encourages all young children to Google what sex is, which, in retrospect, is probably not the best advice. This was done by all my pubescent friends and I for a brief moment in our young lives and what an education we received through photos and videos we discovered. the basics on our own and then some and we were ready to go, no talking was necessary, but you don't just walk onto a basketball court and dunk like LeBron James, first you have to learn to dribble, he spends a lot of time recounting his first experiences that describe the girls he liked and kissed with in too much detail.
I hope these aren't her real names because holy shit, this whole time I was also texting Julie and her tits. I liked kissing, but I had heard that. others were doing more than kissing, including Julie. I didn't know what I had done, but thanks to Google I discovered the realities of life and then Julie and I walked into my room together and we kissed and, after a while, she. Her hands went places and so did mine and suddenly we were off kissing into completely new territory, at least for me, I thought, "Oh my god, this is the best moment ever." The good thing is that moment is still pretty good all these years later.
I'm reading porn, don't worry, there's still plenty of book left. 10 Facts About Teenage Boys Every Teenage Girl Should Know First While girls are busy with their hairstyles, clothes and shoes and maybe cool rings and necklaces. You know a lot about girls, most guys. in 8th grade are thinking about what girls look like after they take all that off and are in their underwear or bathing suits, 9th grade boys are obsessed with what girls look like without clothes on, is this meant to help teenage girls and women? I may not have realized it yet, but guys, they want to see your butt, so show it to them.
I guess I didn't realize how sexually charged this book would be with four kids. I thought this was going to be like Edie influenced the book, but some parts. It's more like Fifty Shades of Paul. I realize I just made a Fifty Shades of Gray reference in the year 2020, but I don't know of any other popular porn books anyway, there's a lot of boring stuff in here that's not really worth talking about. I like how in the middle there are just a bunch of random pages of pictures that have nothing to do with the book with subtitles ranging from someone a little suspicious to overrated shirts, but other than that this book is extremely boring and pointless and at the end he mentions the same smoothie he talked about at the beginning, confirming my suspicions that he wrote this all in one go.
If I had to pick a quote from the book, a little pearl of wisdom to leave you with, it would be some days if your underwear sticks to your butt, take it off, laugh and start again. My official score for Jake Paul, you have to want him to be a D minus a Zen. I wish I had: some of the references to his D, plus this masterpiece. Lele Pons, who in many ways is the female version of Jake Paul, also wrote her own advice book on how to finish high school and I'm not going to go into detail about this one because I think Nerd City already said everything that needed to be said . about this book, but long story short, her advice is basically that things get easier the more famous you become and that's super helpful advice for the 99.9% of struggling teens who will never be as famous as her, I don't know. worry guys. better just get rich so what I can say is that there are only three different types of

youtuber

books, there is the autobiography where you cover your life story in excruciating detail and act like you really had to beat the odds and overcome all these obstacles in your life. life, which just means your parents got divorced and that was the worst thing that ever happened to you number two, there's the tongue-in-cheek advice book on adulting 101, but don't take it from me guys, just I'm a 30 year old, a 15 year old and then thirdly there's the weird fiction of why a novel Joey Graceffa wrote two of these and they seem to get pretty mixed reviews.
I don't know much about Joey or what he does, but at least I can respect him. the originality here, I think it's great, he had an idea and tried to execute it, whether he actually achieved it or not, that's up for debate, but he was ambitious, so I will tell you that there is one book that doesn't fit into any of these categories and that is Gabby Hanna's much maligned collection of adult poetry, a lesson now, Gabby is someone who always seems to end up involved in some kind of drama and I personally haven't paid attention to any of that except her great interview because that was It's funny, but other than that, I won't try to tell you what she did or didn't do, that's bad because I don't really know.
It's weird sometimes with YouTube dramas. I think, oh, this is juicy, tell it and then other times I wonder how I ended up on a channel called farting the tea where all her videos are just scrolls of text set to music from the Wii menu. Do I really care that much about seeing this? No, I do it again. I'm not saying she's guilty of anything and I'm not saying she's innocent of anything. I'm only going to look at this book because the first thing I'll say is that it's very easy to criticize the worst of this book many times. people have already done it, at worst the poems aren't very good and she did herself a disservice by openly admitting in the book that many of them only exist because she had adeadline and needed to fill the space, which if I'm not honest was a relief to read because it's right at the end of the book and it sort of answers a question you may have already had, but as a result a lot of the poems end up reading like tweets which should have been left as drafts, but instead were reformatted to fill pages between actual poems.
I'm sure even Gabby herself would admit that many of these entries shouldn't even be considered poetry. sad, it's the whole page you understand because she's sad, she's fine, so she's happy. and sad, I think there's a lot of depth to that one, this one is called K and then the whole poem is actually just her texting someone that says K and the other person read it so that's really interesting to me and of course I have to talk about it. this link is just the title of the poem and then the poem is in the bio so you read it all together it's linked in the bio that one is kind of a thinker you didn't really understand that for a while but once you click in your brain, it's great, you're disgustingly perfect.
I like that. it has a twist and then right under Catholic I gave up for Lent right, I gave up it's funny I've never heard that joke before that's why it's so good so yeah, a lot of this is just cheeky page filler or poems very short ones that are the depth of an above ground pool that hasn't been filled yet If the world ended tomorrow, what would you do today? I would hardly go to an all-you-can-eat buffet if the world ended tomorrow. I would eat some food and the poetry prize is for me. I didn't think I was going to like it the way I did, but since I like it, I'm taking it back, this is a great book, the most egregious examples on the page.
Fillers are poem like advice that are supposed to be read as text, there is no punctuation and things are intentionally misspelled because that was the stylistic choice but they are also meaningless and silly, I'm pretty sure they were the last thing I was added. to the book Hi Gaby, the books look great, we just need 10 more pages, yes, no problem, how much time do I have? Oh, you're okay, I just need them in a minute. What will change? I used to hate coconut, let's hurry up. great, can you believe it, well, they're not great, but here you go, I don't care about that, okay, thanks, well, I'm glad you're satisfied because I'm just sad, sad, wait, I thought not.
I don't want to be fair, although there are a lot of good poems here, as I said, it's very easy to pick out a dozen terrible poems, but for the most part it's not a terrible book if I could have spent more time on it. Inspiration comes to you naturally instead of throwing out a bunch of thoughts. I think this would have been a very good first attempt with his version of a Shel Silverstein book. I know he's talented, that's why I watched these videos about the book I wanted though. To read it for myself I wanted to see if it really was as bad as people said and a lot of them aren't that bad.
I was surprised by how much I liked many of the drawings. I mean, obviously, putting a drawing next to a poem doesn't make the poem better, but at least it's more interesting to look at as you go through the book. Ultimately, I think Gabby could have avoided almost all of the negative reaction she received if she had taken a few more months to actually finish it or if she had charged less for the book, she would have lowered the expectations people had about it. more reasonable. I mean, I used it on Amazon for a couple of dollars, but if I had bought it when it arrived off the shelves it would have cost me $16.99, that's the perceived value of this book according to the publisher who published it as a paperback copy from a collection of unfinished poetry $17 my comparison here is a hardcover copy of the mythology book by retton links this book is fantastic it's funny it's personal the artwork is beautiful each page has a unique and intricate design.
I think more than a dozen people worked on it. It was a huge project that received all the time and attention it needed, and since this is a hardcover book, the pages are really thick, it costs more to produce, so that would also be factored into the price, so that if this is $17, then it should cost like 40 dollars, no, $21, this more durable and sturdier copy of a more elaborate book costs $4 more than this. If you're going to charge a premium price for your book, you're going to have to live up to those expectations, and I'm sure it wasn't up to her what the price was.
I have never worked with a publisher. I've never published a book, but I know a lot of control is taken away from the author and this is probably what the editors decide, but it's still their fault for putting themselves in that position by agreeing to a deadline they probably should have known was unattainable. Don't get me wrong as a fellow creator, I completely understand how deadlines can complicate and prevent you from making something as good as you think it could be. Have you ever noticed that I almost always post videos on the last day of the month?
That's because I signed contracts with the brands that sponsor me and I physically can't procrastinate more than I already have, but it's up to me if I have to release a video. unfinished because I didn't have enough time to work on it is still my fault for accepting the contract that stated that deadline. I can't play the victim in that situation and I don't think Gabby will either because she still benefited a lot from this and she fights back a lot. of these unfinished poems saying how cathartic writing them was for her and that's great. I'm glad it was therapeutic for you to write this book, but you still charged people money for it, as if it was cool that you got something out of writing it. but you have to make sure that if people pay money, they get the same amount of quality in return, but those are my thoughts on this book.
I'm not trying to start drama with Gabby. I think she is very talented. I'm sure she learned her lesson from this and we'll see how her next book turns out. I think my main takeaway from this video is that the best received YouTuber books are the ones that act as an extension of the channel, so for someone whose channel is dedicated to creating fun recipes. Publish a cookbook full of them. Isn't that obvious and out of place? A book about sex makes a lot more sense when it comes from a YouTuber who already makes videos about Seth.
The same can't be said for the Disney Channel vlogger who dedicated an entire chapter of his memoir to that time someone played his ding-dong. A book that I really respect is by Charlie McDonnell, who is a super original YouTuber who I used to call Charlie, he's great. like he wrote an entire book about fun science facts that he likes. I think it's great that he took that opportunity to do something he's passionate about. It seemed like an afterthought like, oh, I have to write a book, I guess I'll talk. about what high school was like for me, people would like him to pick an extremely specific topic and get into it because that's what he wanted to do and that's cool, trying to get teenagers interested in science is much nobler than trying. to teach them how to be good at Instagram, one thing I will say about every youtuber book is that at least they did it.
I can see here criticizing every page of a book, but at the end of the day they still wrote more of a book than I've ever owned. I don't think I'll ever have the patience or self-discipline to finish such a big project, so congratulations to anyone who has finished a book. I'm curious here in the comments if you've read it. any other youtuber book that was better than you thought it would be or worse than you thought it would be or you never finished reading it because you only bought it to support the creator but then got distracted.
