Nicolle Wallace: ‘If he were selling waterbeds or condoms fine’: Reaction to Trump’s bible grift

Apr 01, 2024
I'm proud to partner with my very good friend Lee Greenwood, who doesn't love his song God Bless the USA. Religion and Christianity are the things that are most lacking in this country. Every American needs a Bible in their home and I have many. It's my favorite book I think everyone should get a copy of God Bless the US Bible now and help spread our Christian values. Let's make America pray again. Wait, wait, let me do one more thing. Let me show you how much he knows about the Bible. This is the. asked by our friend John hman when I talk about the Bible it is very personal, so I don't want to go into verses.

I don't want to get into any verses that mean a lot to you that you think about or see in the Bible. It means a lot to me, but I don't want to go into detail even to quote a verse that you like, no, I don't want to do that, an Old Testament guy or a New Testament guy, probably same, same, same, oh yeah, you already know. He says it's his favorite book, but we also know that he kept Adolf Hitler's speeches by his bed some time ago, which is equal weight, you know, it's fascinating to me because you know he's

sneakers that black Twitter called trees. in which he's phenomenal, he's

this Bible and you know, I would check it to make sure the verses are what they're supposed to be because they could be his propaganda hidden in those pages, he'll be selling his bathroom. water next and the hems of their clothes um and we've seen this before, that's why you know a lot of the conversation in our first segments really important because when we were talking about the big lie and I would say you know, think about it like a big conspiracy because it takes a lot of money and a lot of patience for everyone to communicate and coordinate to talk about this in the same way to send people to Ruby Bridges' house to intimidate her and What she is doing now we have seen before because she imitates the behavior of a televangelist, he's a political televangelist and if we think about the population that is as opinionated and meaningful to him as, you know, similar to religious fervor, then this makes us feel like it's Tim's point where they're funding his style. of life and that's really up to all of us in the Biden administration campaign to just bring that out of this every time you see him playing golf, voters now think strangely.

More Interesting Facts About,

We're sending him to the White House, but they're actually sending him to the golf course every time and hopefully you divert some of that attention away from him and then focus the public on the issues that really matter, but this is what you have to do. do. I know this is a political televangelist getting people to support his lifestyle, but I think this is part of the first conversation because this is also a fraud. I mean, if he was selling

. He said the biggest risk is the. He had taken it, I think, to be sexually active in the '80s, or so.

I mean, this has nothing to do with Donald Trump, the Bible he held upside down in Lafayette Square told us that. I think this is also part of the LIE that it is. spreading on the base of him, yeah, and you know you made a great comment earlier about how he monetizes those lies, right, he monetizes everything and just think of all the buildings that have his name on them. He didn't build those buildings, he just got someone to take care of them. pay him to put his name on it, so when you look at it and look at how thin his record is, how thin he's been his whole life, uh, really and what he sold to the voters, is that he's perpetrating this massive fraud.

I think voters are starting to get some voters are starting to move away from Tim. I stopped, forced myself to stop asking questions about whether there is a bridge too far for anyone at the base of it, obviously there isn't, but in a moment. When he is more politically exposed, along with legal exposure comes some political exposure. Now you have a vocal group and I know you came face to face with some of these Republican voters who won't vote for him again. um, do you think there is a limit to boldness for those who have not yet taken that leap to say no more namas?
Yeah, look, the more

trump

et people face, the less they like it. I think that's been part of the story of the The poll numbers are right on the margins, the more you see about Trump, the more he's benefited in some ways from being under the radar of being only on Truth Social. I hate to call it that, you know, because a lot of normal people are going out of their lives and they're not reminded why they don't like him as much and that's why I think things like this that are very mockable and that can go viral, you know, could be a small brick as part of a big wall, so to speak. uh, of bricks that will be needed to remind people that they don't want this person again.
This person is a scammer. This person is religious from Sac and hopefully they are religious people. I think this is where you can turn to people. like Russell Moore people with credibility in the religious community who can speak up. I mean, this is sacrilege. Can I just say it's ridiculous, like they're making fun of it. It seems like a parody. It sounds like an SNL sketch, but it's also just fundamentally religiously sacred, you know, like the American flag woven into the Bible. I I America has nothing to do with Jesus, right? I like to put lyrics from country singers inside the Bible, that's right, this isn't it, this isn't it, you know, maybe I'm not.
The best messenger for this is a secular gay man, but I think there are a handful, maybe not as many as we would like, of genuine Christian leaders, Pete Wayer, David French Russell Moore, who have spoken and whose voices really should be raised. about this and you know, can you get the 1% of faithful Christians and the 2% of faithful Christians to start getting discouraged about this? I don't, I don't think it's crazy, I think it's possible and there should be an effort to do it. Tim just said something really intriguing that I've been playing around with outside of TV, but I'll post it.
I mean, being deplatformed has benefited him politically and whether this election is a referendum on whether we're still a democracy. There's a guy who wants to end this and it's Trump, should we see and listen to him more? um, you know, I think this is going to be a long campaign, it's eight months and I think he's going to be severely tested several times over and over again between now and November because I don't think he has the means or the discipline to not routinely reveal himself like that. how is. You know, those Bibles he's selling, he's selling them for $60 a piece, so I guess you could sell 8 million of them and it would resolve his $454 million court ruling that he's fighting to avoid the reality is that he's never been religious, he doesn't care about religion.
I talked to him when I was working on my book several times and he openly said, well, I kind of believe in God, but I don't really care about any of that and he played this up during his first administration. I remember at one point he stood on the White House lawn, it was at the time he was talking about the possibility of buying Greenland and, um, he described himself as the chosen one and he was he was engaging in goings-on in the social media with Wayne Allen, root of one of these evangelicals that mix evangelicals that mix business and faith and one in a basket and says that Jesus is the CEO of Christianity uh to continue with Tim Miller's point, this is religious Sac, It is blasphemous and he is using people's religious and spiritual devotion to enrich his nest and play on their need to have a messianic figure to tell them that in a complex world there are easy solutions and you can solve them by being racist or a bully on immigration. or selling a list of goods to your electorate or stealing money from their pockets and then you can get away with it because you are the Messiah and it is interesting that he is doing this. obviously it's Easter week and he also presents himself as someone who has been persecuted just like Jesus Christ, he says it every time he's in court that he's being persecuted so he knows the strings he's pulling but it's a measure of how Craven and degraded he is as an individual, apart from this absolutely cartoonish approach he has to Bible sales.
I'll give Liz Cheney the last word. She said a big clap. Happy Easter Donald, instead of selling Bibles you should probably buy one and read.
