ULTIMATE TAC ARROW BUILD

May 01, 2024
Stranger, these feathers don't come off like they don't come off at all and like I was saying this is like without cleaning them you put extra glue on them it's just something about boning I mean I can't even I can't even. try to do it right, welcome to today's videos, boys and girls, we just launched new coats, be real, along with we have hot veins, we've always had X veins, we've always had Blazers, um, but as you know, it's tax season. I've been doing this little tax series in between some hunting, we've actually been hunting more than we usually do in the spring which is really fun and cool, this is the standard Arrow that I've been running for a while.

West hunts my elk hunt. It's a VAP TKO with 50 grain insert, 100 grain tips about 435 grains total and it's our B-real X and A4 Fletch veins. It's done really well. The only thing is that sometimes you go longer distances. target shooting, specific things like tacks or whatever, these and hunting, but I want to change it. above and I haven't done this yet, but I want to run these heat veins on a four Fletch. I've made them on a tres Fletch, but I want to make a cuatro Fletch on a tres Fletch. I felt that sometimes, especially when I run.

More Interesting Facts About,

Some larger broadheads don't guide the

arrow

far enough, but in my opinion, these are the quietest veins I've tested. A little stiffer material than Shield cuts super super quiet, so I want to try them on a Four Fletch. This is what I'm going to do right here, these

arrow

s that I've been running are 350 columns, they're a TKO V1 and a 350 column, but when I went to Lancaster, I went to buy some, all they had were the VAP tkos in the player's 300 column. Series, so this is like a 0.003 tolerance and a 300 spine, which I shot with a 300 spine before.

I'm like right on the edge shooting 75 76 pounds with a 28 and a half inch draw. I'm right in line with you. It could go one way or another in my opinion, so I wanted to plan on about 350 or 300 spiked arrows anyway, so let's give it a try with this one. We have a new batch here minus two, so I got 10 because I pulled these from some fluffy feathers for a turkey we just photographed a while ago. I think what we're going to do is just Fletcharlas and I'll show you how. I would do this, so in the past I have flattened them, fletched them anyway, with wraps, without wraps, but this has no wrap, not installing a wrap shortens the life of the arrow because if I had to Go reflex, I will have You have to take a razor blade right to the charcoal, scrape off all the glue and you know you have the potential to chip the charcoal, shave it too much to make it look nasty, yay, so what I've done and feathered late last year.

I made Fletch with some wraps and not only if you have a highly fluorescent wrap like a yellow or a bright color, you can just see your arrows. better and you can match the color with them to make them real. Arrow wraps are available in six different colors and three different variations as of now. There will be more on the site as time goes on, but we'll show you how to install them. one of these bad boys we have this one. I just made an arrow and when it's completely complete with some heat veins it actually looks pretty cool, this isn't rocket science installing these wraps if you've never done it before, um, it comes. with 13.
We sell them with an extra one in case you make a mistake because I make mistakes quite often in things in life and in general, and it's nice to be on some kind of semi-soft material mouse pad that works very well, This Matthews bank actually has a little bit of squish so you want to make sure you place it on your table the right way and you can see the logo is slightly offset to the right and we did that because it fits almost all the arrows. on the market four millimeters five millimeters six millimeters and it overlaps slightly and we had to shift the logo because of that so what you're going to do is roll this side first and roll it towards the logo if that makes sense so we'll set it up here so we have our wrapper, we want reel b on the left on this specific wrapper, we're going to place it, you're going to put the bump on the right and that's okay.
I'd just like to use this to straighten it out, so all you have to do is make sure it's lined up correctly with the strike. That's why a mouse pad is really nice, we're just going to do that, give it a complete spin. just use your thumb, make sure it's all the way down. I don't actually have a mouse pad here, but a mouse pad or something like that is good because it squishes you and bada bing bada boom and I'm actually going to change these orange bumps with some yellow bumps that I have here so they can be seen. better.
What I love about boning specifically these veins is the material they use, it really doesn't require a starter pen or adhesive pen. I don't need clean feathers most of the time, at least in all my experiences and everyone I've talked to, to stick to other Fletching makers. There is some resin in there that they say you should have as an accelerator or starter pen. you put it in there and you do this and that so many extra steps the boneless vein I take it right, literally, put the wrapper on it, take this out of the package, these are the pieces and the burger, tried and true, can't go wrong He slaps that bad boy and you just put a couple drops of glue on it and then you run the tip down, it evens everything out and I just use a boned Blazer Bond, that's it, it's pretty much the same, it's a variation of super glue, so I'm going to place it like this, you can see there's the wrap fold and we recommend, and almost everyone recommends, that if you run wraps you just turn the arrow with the hit on the side, essentially. you're turning your punch on the clamp and lining it up so you're actually going to put your first Fletching on that line just to help you know that your wraps aren't going to come loose, but it's like another peace of mind to really make sure it doesn't peel or do anything like that, so here we go, put it on.
I like to use my thumb and index finger right there and just pinch it for a couple of seconds, it doesn't need to set. there for 30 seconds a minute it's like 10 seconds max and you open the bow by pulling the boom bada that looks good oh you can even see the little bees through the vein on all my Matthews bows if it's a zebra string, so I use a standard bowstring. a left propeller of about two degrees, it's about what I do now. I've talked about this before, just in other Fletching videos. I like to use more glue instead of less glue because I don't really care what it looks like if it's like I'm throwing up.
On the edges I like the adhesion. I was very conscious of that before and tried to use as little glue as possible. I'm not talking about glue out there, but I was trying to use as little glue as possible and sometimes I experience air pockets in it just because you know the fact that there's not enough glue, so now I just fill it up, run the nozzle down and I make sure it's almost completely full, there are no little air pockets. Airbags are what gets you. I haven't really had any problems and if you want to make it more boring and time consuming, which you can do even while it's on the stencil, just take some cotton swab or any type of cloth and just wipe it down. the seam and you can clean it.
I never do that because I don't have that kind of patience, so I don't care if there are a couple little glue things here and there, there are no air pockets and I will say that a good light is huge. when you do this to make sure you're doing things correctly, a lot of times you like to forget something just because you can't see, there we go, we have a four feather, it actually looks really good in a series, it's the first time I've done it . four Heat meats like that, but that should be a sick little dart for total archery, maybe you even know some hunting stuff in the west, do this if it has enough direction, making it a four flash, really It should be on a fixed sheet.
We'll see, but I'm going to fletched the rest of these and then we'll cut them out and I'll show you how I do it so we have all of our arrows fletched. The next step is to cut them and I'm going to cut them. These are a little longer than my 350 spine arrows because if you make them a little longer it weakens the spine because the weight is greater and you or Benny can bend the shaft, so what are we going to do? It's just that I'm going to take them out a little bit more, talking about half an inch, so these are my old ones, put them to the side, one cuts arrows, this is the D cut arrow saw, it's a really versatile compact, very good.
I've had it for about three or four years. We did a Lancaster unboxing a long time ago and it has done me very well since then, so there are a lot of good things, like the DIY Arrow saws that you can get for 100 200 dollars and get it and add it to your home archery store, but I really like this one a lot and when you cut arrows you just want to make sure you put the strike in and it's completely firm throughout the entire rotation process and if you want to be really picky some people even eliminate the strikes because when you spin you swing it like if it staggers there.
I don't worry too much because I use a squaring tool after cutting it, so I don't worry. about that too much, put that in there and then once we turn the saw on, you're going to want to push it all the way in and then you're going to want to turn it slowly. Nothing crazy scientist about that. Foreigner, good, clean. There's nothing wrong with that so I'm just going to compare compare between my old arrows here are my new arrows yeah so you see maybe it's a half inch longer there just to incorporate and help with a little bit more spine rigid.
The G5 arrow squaring tool essentially has like this type of sandpaper, diamond grit sandpaper, which is here, then it has two contact points to make sure the arrow is nice and square, slide it in there and then you just Turn it while applying downward pressure, which gives it a nice square shape. point of contact for your insert to touch now will not affect the straightness of your point insert, but this ensures that there is flat contact on flat contact and that only helps the overall strength of the arrow if it hits something that is not going to affect the straightness of the tip because the inner core that is inserted will go to the inner core which you know determines how it lines up but it never helps to make sure everything is nice and square so we do it and we tap it to get some carbon off we're ready to put the insert in this, but first I'm going to cut them all out real quick, okay, next we have all our arrows squared, now we're going to put the inserts in.
I have a piece of blue Hot Melt boning glue, this glue works great for inserts that you may want to remove at a later date. All you have to do is heat the insert a little and you can take it out and I. I'm not too sure about this length. I might end up cutting them a little more, so I'll use this glue. If you want to permanently put your tips on your arrows, you can use some type of super glue or like AE has this one. like black tire glue, which seems more like better adhesion, it's almost like tight lock levels.
Do you want red Loctite or do you want blue Loctite? You want to get it out or you don't want to get it out, so I'm going to do this so I can get them out, but they still will never come out unless you do this process wrong itself, so you need some kind of flame. I like to use this torch because it can be stationary with This glue what you are going to do is heat the glue instead of heating the insert. It is a very low temperature glue, so it doesn't need much heat to melt it.
I'm going to heat the glue on the tip very well. I like to put my arrow in my armpit so it's ready and then I'm going to heat it up a little bit until it becomes liquid again and cools down. real quick too, I'm just going to turn it while you put it in, make sure it's all the way down, give it something good depending on how sensitive you are to heat. I just put it there and it doesn't burn my finger or anything, it's very low temperature glue should melt so I wiped it off a little more, but that's a tip, nothing more.
If it dries a little bit more, you can use your fingernail and wipe it off, but you can also shoot it a couple of times and it'll be done, you really just need to wait, you know, 10 to 15 minutes for it to cool completely. Some people like to dip it in a little bit of water, a little bit of cooler water, which gives it a flash. I know, it dries it or it cools it instantly, but yeah, that's it, let's go through them, this is not too long, we'll process it, it's probably the shortest of all the processes, but we'll be good to go, okay, the arrows are ready.
Now, what we're going to do, I guess these will be verysimilar to my others because there really isn't much difference other than adding a wrapper, different fletching and a stiffer spine, yeah 458 so we added about 10 grains just by adding. a wrapper and a stiffer Arrow. I think the stiffer arrow is where most of it comes from because the carbon wall gets thicker as you get into a stiffer Arrow which is Why? But let's take these. I think I'm just going to shoot at 60 yards here and look at any initial as if to say, "Oh my gosh, my groups shot 12 of them on that white dot I don't have." I don't think it's going to happen, but we'll shoot them a little bit here and see how they do and make sure the feathers don't fall out, but that's what a thing like let me get, let me get some pliers. here these feathers don't come off like they don't come off at all and like I was saying this is like without cleaning them putting extra glue on them I can even if there are these in this wrapper here I don't want to ruin that one let's do this one I don't even know three this is a 350 .I mean, these Blazers don't come off either, it's just something about boning, I mean, I can't even, I can't even try to do that. about the bones compared to other people, their veins require all this work and everything, but in the bones you don't really like it, let's see here like that.
I didn't do anything different, nothing different, it's anything, yes, I was a little better, but no. I know a thing or two about boning, it's been a while since I tried everything, it was like these just made sense and I don't know why it's the material or the process, they just stick with very little effort to get them to stick, so I'm pretty excited about them. that, we're going to shoot them, so I was playing with my site after shooting my turkey and I think this is back to where it was. I'm nervous, let's shoot inside real quick, let's do this, we'll do it. a quick check of eight yards that was a touchy button compared to what I've been shooting, wait, that came out very prematurely, yeah, to the left, okay, so we've got our left and right back good, now we're just going to shoot at 30 reais.
Quick before we go back to 60. Okay, Bingo, right at the bottom of the DOT, now we're going to send it all the way to 60. Okay, not bad, just a touch, go get them and then We'll actually be able to photograph a group, see what we have, let's try to see how good a group we can get. It's pretty windy outside, it's probably between 10 and 15. But that's why I like to shoot outside or inside out so you can't be affected by the wind and you can really see how your arrows are affected and all that, so Let's see what we have that was right in the pocket and it was perfect.
I really think you know that this Arrow

build

is primarily designed for the total Archer challenge. It will probably be the arrows that I am going to shoot and especially the vein set because it is the shortest profile, less wind resistance and only in four millimeters every four millimeters, but these arrows, I will still say it forever, but the tkos that weave from Arrow are the strongest Arrows I've ever made and like on the dealer tour, what really got me thinking was when we shot the iron buck and it literally bounced when it hit the iron bucket, it bounced and all that. i was wrong with that, it was the fungus on the tip attack when you are potentially failing to hit things, your recovery rate on your arrow is fine, the rate is much higher than other options, even where you know other wins, They're not the weave, just these are just tough arrows, okay, one will do fine, it could have been me, okay, again, man, I got a good bunch, right down on the right, the arrows are kicking a little bit .
My next step after this is just to make sure my melody is good and it could just be the wind playing with me, yeah if I had to guess it's just the wind I've got pretty good up and down and it's just a little bit left to right. right and I'm just hanging on the right side, yeah, like in a bunch down. at the bottom right, but let's shoot one more time. I'll give it a couple more clicks and we'll be a little bit more marked in the middle, okay, so it should be pretty close to where we're going to.
I'll be getting to the middle, hopefully it's windy down there, it's crazy past the barn, look, that sounds good oh yeah that hit the white point so I hope I guess the last one I hit the white point too but I hope they're not all there. low point to the right still a little low right there bad that was a long shot low right that was good I really think it depends on how the wind blows down there every once in a while I catch it in a kind of more stagnant state and So, like right now, as you can see, the wind is passing through the trees.
Well, come on, let's go down and look, I've got a good group and then just a couple of little low Flyers, well, so this is what I'm considering. I like my good group here because if there's a combination of a little less wind and a good shot and then when the wind really hit me, that's when I got those on the left, so I don't know, it's not bad, I'll definitely have more tests. on this, but I'm pretty happy with that as my first effort at 60 yards and if I take them out to feel better about my group, I mean, all of those, if we had been a little higher, they would have been on the white point, so I'll take that, I just have to readjust it a little for my yardage, get a new sight tape, but this setup is a very viable setup for possibly one of the more Ultimate Aero setups to attack a shorter vein profile and a four arrow millimeters.
It's a very difficult task because you'll potentially get lost because I always seem to fail once or twice on every attack I go on, so thank you all for watching to catch you on the next one.
