ELKSHAPE Favorite Arrow Fletching Jig?!

Apr 07, 2024
today we sat down with mfjj we are going to discuss how to set up and run perfect Fletching with the old bitzenberg now are you a helical? Do you have a displacement of two and a half degrees? Are you straight? Let's find out. but today we will show you how to do all three and at the end we will show you a little trick that will improve your bitzenberg game, so we have made many videos using this. Jig, I actually personally have two or three on the left, two or three on the right, and the reason is because you can make a dozen

arrow

s super fast and you can make three veins at a time, this will give you five more degrees. helical I don't even know if we really know the grades, it's more than anything else made, it's pretty much that, it'll give you more helical than anything else and that's why I like it, because I like a lot of helicals, okay? so here is my opinion.

I've been running this for the last few years. Josh has always encouraged me to make more propellers. I find him committed. I've never had a problem and it really helps to fix the broadheads now if I'm on Total Archer Challenge and I'm shooting 125 yard moves, yeah you'll see my

arrow

s once I get past 80, start parachuting, parachuting, The simplest term is that it is spinning so fast that it will actually slow you down a bit. It never really affected true accuracy, but this year it was or was chosen to move away from six degrees and go down to Iron Will Bill's recommendation of more than two and a half three degrees of offset, this is great for most of you going a I would say this is my take on shooting under 80 yards with fixed broadheads.

More Interesting Facts About,

elkshape favorite arrow fletching jig...

This is the fastest and most efficient thing on Earth. There is nothing better. Josh's take. I'd like to see if his grouping looks worse beyond the correct 80 yards. because mine isn't working well and I log out at 150 and I like to think of 56, actually well, I logged in at 100 as far as my arc allows and I've never seen it because my group opens up, does it? Slows down my arrow a little, yeah, maybe, but I've never seen it shoot a group worse, and at the end of the day, accuracy above all else, uh, within reason, you know, unless you're giving up the distance and I hope to do it.

In fact, make some videos proving it and disproving it a little more so you can see whether or not there is an accuracy difference when there's no human involved. We'll see how that happens in the future. I highly recommend getting this template. to save time, especially if you're just starting to build Aero. I encourage everyone to build Aero. I think you care more about your arrows than anyone else, average person, the more helical you have when you make a mistake or hit something that's going to bounce back. faster because the Arrow spins faster so that's not taken into account when you spin it, if it moves slower and hits something in Flight it will deflect more because it doesn't spin as fast so it doesn't recover so fast toward the direction the arrow was traveling, so that tells you where you're going to lose some of that.

This is your tutorial, your bitzenberg masterclass, here we go Josh. I take this out of the box it comes with just a base technically you have to buy it you can actually buy it either way depending on where you buy it we sell it as you can buy just the jig you can buy the jig and clamp or you can buy just the clamp, they come from right to left and straight and the little indexing piece here, we'll have an R with nothing or an l and that indicates right left or straight and it's based on where the detonation receiver starts on nothing different. you can put, you can throw a left base with a right jig, it won't really hurt anything, especially if you're swinging the shot anyway, it's not going to change anything, but it's for an indexing position to start with, nothing more, nothing more different. other than that, that's your right jig, which if you're looking at the shot to the point, a right jig starts on the left and turns to the right.
The straight jig is that straight, you can turn it left or right so it has a little bit of a bit of offset in it or they would call it offset Fletching Jig, is that correct, it's a right helix so it's okay , you couldn't do this with this either, you would need this, but for the right direction our purpose this is right, in fact, all of these are right, there's no left one down here, um, and to the left, Fletch would be the exact opposite of This, I would start on the right and go left if you're looking to tap, aiming for the point.
Why does that matter? If you like indexing and you time your arrow and you shoot it and see which direction it naturally comes out of the bow, you'll see that most of them turn left, now the negative is your points and everything. They are screwed on to the right so when the arrows turn to the left the tips naturally unscrew to the right, you definitely want to use a tip that has like a rubber o-ring when you screw it on or put a bunch of wax on it of bees. your string when you put it on or close it tight or whatever you want to use to try to keep it from vibrating loose and the same with hunting arrows, that's something to consider, don't be surprised if your field points tend to want to vibrate a little looser if you shift left, the premise of shooting it is because your arrow spins that way, you're not losing energy because it started turning left and then forced itself back to the right, basically you're just praising what It's natural rotation, you're not fighting it, honestly, I'm still not 100% convinced that that's that important, but at the end of the day, for me I'm still going to match my clock.
I just feel like I'm sleeping. better at night knowing I had the most efficiency getting out of my boat, do you have anything to add to that? Well, it would be fun to try it at about 60 yards and have one that is left and right and see if there is a difference in speed. not at all, no, yes, so, no, I don't think it works accurately enough to test it, so in the appropriate way, in the appropriate way, because we know that a chronograph, a real chronograph, will measure the speed of something at as it passes. okay yeah so all you have to do is build a base that protects the chronograph and set it to a 50 yard range and shoot through it at 50 yards which is what I'm going to do that sounds like some Josh Jones, you should do that.
I've had that and actually to be honest I hate using my Chrono in my studio because of the lighting and I would hate to use it here. I like natural light for Chronos, just then there is more continuity and we could film at the same time of day, that would be nice, back to the templates, so look, that rabbit hole took me there, go, I got you , oh, and then this little garnish will be saved for last, yeah, Durkin, okay, so the pickle is on your pieces and the burger. Jig for Fletching, it should have three small screws, okay, there's a 120 degree screw, there's a 90 degree screw and then a 75 105. 120 is a three Fletch, everything rotates to the right, 120 degrees, 360 is all the way, 90 degrees is a Fletch four. evenly into four, so one, two, three, four as it turns to go full circle 75 105 is the 80s and 90s.
It was actually quite popular, not sure why, but that was one way to make a Flex four. We're just going to do a three free Fletch as an example and we're going to go ahead and do one with a right propeller because that's what most people use is a stealth, there's a bunch of indexes here so you can determine how up or down some people actually believe in moving too far because it increases FOC. Some people like Fletching backwards as much as possible. The only reason I'm worried is that I want to make sure my veins don't run into my wrist or something when I carry it in the boat.
The only purpose of indexing would be that if I were to use this. template. I would take a black Sharpie, pick my indexing point and use that and just mark it for fun so you don't accidentally hit the wrong one, there's a ton of lines in there and if you're not paying. attention, you can stick it in the wrong place, the difference between bits and hamburgers versus that jig is that you can adjust any angle you want, so if you loosen these two knobs up, put your arrow here, you have to push it down where you want.
We're trying to get there and the hard thing about this is you have to really look at it trying to index where the vein is hitting but it's not like pushing one way or the other so when you push down it doesn't slide and we're going to have You have to turn this up a little bit and I don't know how well you can see this, Tim, but you want the tip of the vein to touch the arrow equally, see where it actually touches, pull it evenly. Turn it off and then put it back on, yeah, see how it doesn't touch there, yeah right, and then you push it down into the dust.
Touch Fletch will most likely feel this way and you will have veins that will pop out because they are not. it's going to be the same so you have to get a good contact, you want the Gap to be the same and then you want to look at it from the side and make sure there's no daylight underneath either, so this template is a little more complicated once you have these things set up the way you want, if you're not Fletching with a different diameter of Arrow, don't touch it again, but if you look under it and you're going to put it in, this is kind. on how to look at a woman, Josh, when you know something like that, you know you see her from the side you want, you want to get a good side perspective, it's definitely valuable, let's see here and so what I like to do I like . to bring it down and if you can see this, I want it to be touched all at once as it comes out of the arrow like this, if it's not even from left to right when you try to turn it up and turn it. down you will see that it first touches another place, that means you should adjust it to negative.
If you want these things to stick really well, the amount of twist it has is pretty much what you're getting, you can twist it out. that, but then you have to sit there and try to force it and you'll run into veins that don't want to stick as well, it's a little harder and when you don't have veins with giant bases like this like all the AES has this really big base, this helps Dum Dums Fletch, what this allows you to do is not have your jig set up correctly and it still sticks because there's a lot of surface area if you grab, for example, the attack vein and look at this yourself.
It's as wide as the vein itself, so it's very difficult to get it to stick like true helical jigs. Things like that, good luck, you're not good, it's not going to work, you can throw with a vein attack with a bit and hamburger is probably one of the easiest. I even tried to make them with a uh oh, it's the last chance. Sorry um main Master Pro, thanks and the vein almost came off like you were trying to glue the vein to the base. of the vein and it's touching the wires and it's really difficult, so if you're going to do that with tack veins, I would probably just use this personally.
I have not used a fire strike template. I know they are very high quality and expensive and should be a good jig, probably works fine, but I haven't used that one so I don't want to say yes or no, but if you are using a striker band or something with a very thin base , which is something some of the vein makers were trying to do to lose weight because that's a heavier part, be careful what jig you choose to use in that scenario, okay, but it looks like it'll actually play evenly and equitable, so I probably would.
Try one and see how it works. Did you have any questions there? So you touched based on this briefly before, but the distance from the end of the Fletching to the beginning of the hit, yes, it's all preference and like I said, my concern about that is. that my vein is not so far forward that it's like touching the rest of the arrow or something when you load it and your facial contact too, like if you put it too close to the back end of The Arrow, don't you run the risk? of touching have skin contacts, so let's give a recommendation from Josh Jones for the distance from, say, the throat of the bump to the beginning of the back of the if you're talking a little bit, it's somewhere between the second tick and the fourth tick is where I've always put mine so we can take a tape and I have a tape measure.
For me the bitzenberg is what I'm going to spend my time making my arrows for 2023, unless you get Vector GX running Vector Tim you can run Vector if you want we like vector but they will appear built already like it's not there building bullets. That's for people who don't want to build their bullets. Simply put all your specifications. I have it activated. on my website you can get vectors from me, but for those who like to build their own arrows, I think whatever Josh says, understand that I need you to be a robot not only in how you shoot a bow and your execution, so that is repeatable, but you must also be repeatable. able to do that here you want your arrows to be as identical as possible.
What does Jake like as far as distance from the back ofForeign Jake, well, you know, I don't know if they're talking about someone who was a very loyal companion Jake, don't forget, Josh Jake won't talk about his personal life on YouTube, he doesn't love our subscribers, he doesn't love our subscribers. I don't love our subscribers, that's sad, he doesn't tell you about his personal life, he has a wall up, yes he has a wall, tear down that wall of feelings, one brick at a time, mostly, uh, female subscribers that you don't want to know, yes, that's it. right, maybe we put Jake in more, we'd get eight, what do you think?
Yes, he's better looking than most of us now that we've gone. For a straight jig we have to completely reset the jig so that the straight brace is like most of their premade arrows, they usually have a slight offset so I try to have a little bit of tension on these but just barely so they don't just move freely when you try to adjust it it will push in a little bit and that still needs to go a little further so when you loosen them you can physically move the whole base yeah okay , so now I like it. to look down in daylight, so I'll stick with a straight template.
I'm still going to write in offset, so if you look down you can see it's a little bit to the left and a little bit to the right, look at that, yeah, okay, so let's see. how it lines up here push that down do you have daylight so come to this side? so when you go to press this this is the same sorry, there's a little index on that. I must understand well, you go down right there, yes, it looks pretty much the same so let's continue with the same program. I like to use the little base pencil which is not necessary but it seems to stick a little better so I go ahead and use it on the Blazers.
This is a two inch Blazer with boning and no one is not familiar with this, stick it in there and since it's a relatively small amount of twist and it lines up pretty well you can probably get away with holding it for about 10 seconds and it should be fine now. a straight clamp slightly offset so there is no bend is all it means your right helix has a bend built in, so naturally you try to curl the vein a little where it's just a straight line. You will see that something is very visible. so on almost all of your stock download stuff and if you want, if you're happy with it and you want to keep using it, this is a great tool for that, so on your forearm go ahead and turn it 90 until it clicks, make sure to line up with your index again, so I don't recommend going through and applying primer to all your veins first.
I like to apply primer on the caliper because there's no way your finger doesn't touch that when you're trying to charge it and there's oil. your hands so the primer is cleaning the oil off your pro tip which is a pro tip man don't do it first because your hands touch it and your hands are greasy hands are dirty no matter what especially Jake's , that's why I don't get an Apple Watch hey I don't have to pick up my phone it's cool these notifications could go to my phone or this little watch and I turned it off the first day I get it oh look I almost forgot Do it, you're distracting me by taking the shot, you're still Fletching the same, yeah, this is just you can put all this in there, it doesn't matter, yeah, you're still going to Fletcher the same, uh, it's your fourth Lynch and that's it, baby, that one That's what I'm going to do.
Shoot this year, it's so nice a four Blazer in a row, you're against the grain, that's it, I think you should, yeah, let me know how those Broadhead groups looking at 80 men, well, hey, when you got that soft release, no you're okay, you've got Josh tuning in. in your bow, I think you'll be fine now. I wanted to make a very quick turn around the circle. What veins do you think you're going to run this year and what template are you using to get them going? It begins with you, oh God. I for uh we'll call for alquino this is the Elk way so for the alcohol it's okay uh The template probably doesn't exist right now the veins um I'm going to I'm wearing a sk2 Flex Flats right now and I'm going to to play with the hybrid uh, two-inch hp, yes, HP, yes, a little, yes, just because they are shorter and lighter, yes, and no, I don't think I need all of this for the most part to stabilize, this is a lot and I like the height of the profile of this because I played a lot of Max Hunters and it seems like it's hard to keep clearance when you start chopping things on your Riser periodically because you're so tall, so that little one, that little two inch one.
Imitation jacket with the drill bit means I'm sorry, I shouldn't say it is, that's what it is. I mean, anyone who looks can it looks like this, but it's got some rivets, some rivets or I like to say ribbed ribbed it's it's I've got some ribs for the bugs' pleasure when it goes through like Butterball, um, speaking of that vein, what? what are you running? That's exactly what I'm using. Which gym will I use those bugs in Easy Fletch three at most. Well, that's the point. I have to figure out how they come out of my bow so you don't remove the veins and shoot a bundle with a silver Sharpie and shoot it to see if it goes left or right, no more Sharpie, if Martin bails from about six feet maybe what's that called how do you time timing your shaft actually Jake you're running some ropes b b in your face 429 so they're probably going to go towards the other one well well it'll be interesting to see what you'll need try it like soda drinks, that one It's your 29 v3x, that was 20. that was last year bro, now it's 2023 and have you ever timed it and you're so spoiled you don't even like it, oh yeah, I guess so.
Coming out of phase four must be nice, must be nice, yes, I have two arcs. I'll shoot Cam's veins, good Lord. I ran um. I raced Max Hunters last year. I think they are a little loud for my taste. I'm going. Back to Max Stealth, I'll probably go. I'm running gas chains so I think I'll turn left. I need to double check it and I'm going to be helical, no, not helical. I'm going to go two and a half degrees, three veins to the left. with Max Stealth, uh, probably in rip tkos. Look, the fun thing to try is going to be if you put his arrow versus your arrow, so if you take away a little bit of helical but you're shooting a longer vein and he shoots a shorter vein with more helical.
We're probably going to spit out pretty much the same thing, so it would be interesting to see if one of you actually has more parachutes than the other, which is what I'm trying to demonstrate. Well, we will discover the attack when we fire long bombs. I, that camera, I want to turn it towards you houses, I think, oh, we'll take it with six inch feathers, that's about six inches, right? I like sk2. I'm going to play with the AAE hybrids, the one Bodhi Turner was filming with 26, yeah. I'm going to copy everything Bodhi does this year. 26 AAE hybrids with Arizona's easy flash time economy is important to me and my arrows.
I've never seen them wobble too much in the back. I have a theory about what I want. to talk to Josh shortly, hey Dan, you want to put some of my sausage in your mouth, yeah, what do you have? Did you record what you have? I did it right, oh oh, a Little Rock, what an animal, huh, that's it, uh, dear Josh, what's our next one? put some of my meat in your mouth what's our next month look at you Tim, would you like to put some of my meat in your mouth? ah, what's our next Milestone hurricane?
Yeah, we'd like to get to 100,000, oh, I'll be nice, yeah. You're going to get them for sure, I think, so we'll try hard, but we'll only take hits, so this was a success because it's an advantage for you to really dive deep, see which template is going to be best for you, and we're rooting for each other. man, take it or leave it, but subscribe please, we would like really interesting people to follow the channel and grow the community. He has a website and YouTube. Yes, I have almost 30,000 subscribers and I'm taking another one. approach, I'm just going to make a lot of videos and a lot of self help, that's great, hard work pays off.
