Squishy Makeover: Fixing Your Squishies #14

May 08, 2020
Hi, it's me, today is another Squishy

makeover

. We're doing this again, as always. Today's victims were selected based on

your

comments in my most recent unboxing video. You can stop? I feel dizzy. I have so many rejected broken Squishies. I'm going to try to save three of them today. What's that? The first

squishy

they chose was this one, a little unicorn hugging the moon and it's a little cute, well, that was bad. Next up is this cat, which you know very well and all, but I'm pretty sure he was chosen because of his tail and finally it's this super ugly guy who in the world designed this.

I mean, just kidding, I painted this last episode, but the house isn't a home unless someone's home or something. I don't know, today I'm going to create a little resident for this cabin, okay, we've already made our decisions, let's start roasting softies, starting with this guy, I think overall he's very cute, he has a nice color, nice face, cute toes, arms. They're a little short, but hey, that's okay, but there's one problem: the tail is in a position that's a bit distracting and there's also a big tear in the neck, it doesn't actually have a neck, but you know, other than all that , you know, it's pretty simple, so let's see if we can add a little more personality.

I'm going to start with some sandpaper that still has the guts of the last soft one. I'm just using the sandpaper to tear it up a little. that the paint will surely stick, let's see that texture, that's what we want now. I'm going to do something with this tail. I had to find the right tool for this job. I'm going to work in every way, slowly and carefully, trying. cut as cleanly as possible until you have removed that thing completely, today is not

your

day, friend, here we are. I'm not going to remove the tail completely, so let's reposition it, but that open wound looks rough, so now.

I'm just going to trim around the edges to try to smooth it out as much as possible. Now I'm using some fabric glue to put the elastic tail band back there until the glue dries, voila, repositioning surgery complete, I feel like it still needs something, ah yeah, here we go, a half-baked donut eat, thanks, he likes it, I think he should hold this donut forever, so let me stick that donut on his belly and, oh, okay, I'll go ahead, I'll take some slick paint and fix all the cracks and secure the donut there, which by the way has scars, oh, the tragedy, the injustice, the pure evil and secure that tail there, as well as covering the raw and mushy meat in its little area down there and as you can see there are still some scars substantial, so I'm just going to put on another nice thick coat of paint straight from the bottle.

It's like recreating her skin, a new paint skin, a paint skin, once it dries, I'll start painting. Cat White finally started to clean this up a bit, except for the donut, which actually looks like it's rotting on the inside and after a few coats it looks so shiny it's blinding me, so I'm going to go over it with a whitish. color to make it look a little softer, yes, that was me purring now about her butt. I'm doing the same thing again and once we have that blinding look, it's time to paint in cream, that's right, yeah, okay, great, okay, all good. the cat is painted, wait, not the whole cat, there is still a cat in the hole, let me paint in that hole real quick.
Next I'm going to draw a pattern to give this little guy more detail and character and I'm using a sort of orangey brown with chocolate brown for the spots and trying to figure out where I want each color to go, don't rush me, it's a big decision. I ended up changing the colors, I want the spots and colors to look random, but it's not really random, which means I have to balance the size, color, and position of each dot so that it has the same visual weight as the opposite color, which creates the illusion of randomness, but in reality it is not random, it is not random at all, I think they call it this type of cat, a calico, it looks a little like a cow, calico cat, lacao.
I've always liked these because the colors remind me of s'mores. I should have made him a s'more to hold instead of a donut, no, no, I don't regret it. I don't regret going to the back. The stains on the back are a little strange. This one looks like a tall chicken nugget. I'm hungry. Once I get the stains under control, I'll finally start painting that terrible little donut. So I'm using a pastel color and going around the border was very tricky and now for the face I think the pattern was throwing me off. I couldn't line up these eyes, but that's very typical for me, uh-huh, the nose number. one, no, nose, number two, you think I would be better at this and again with the eyes, thick whiskers, I don't know why I painted them so thick, but it's okay, I can't forget those little toes. one essential detail and back to the eyes yeah I'm doing the eyes like this I can only listen to the comments now I hate the eyes they're crazy you ruined it with that maybe I'm just terrible at painting eyes or maybe I have bad taste I actually like this style with real eyes, I'm sorry if it angers you.
I have glazed the donut that matches his eyes, okay, leave the eyes, now, hello dear friends, yes, here we go, okay, here is the before and after of this one. difficult because apart from the inappropriate tail situation, there wasn't really anything wrong with the design, but it definitely has a more unique look and a lot more details. Now I don't think his chubby little arms can reach that donut. Sad, she just watches. The hunger in her eyes let me help you, I think the donut is eating it, but yes, I think the tail surgery was a success.
It's a strange angle. The way you look at me, it seems like she's floating in a river. his back casually with a donut um okay keep going it's time to find a resident for my house no one's home I found this dolphin seriously okay no it's not a dolphin how about this little one kitten? No, he's so anxious that he's also too tall to fit through the door this weird thing no yes please no yes perfect I think it's a bear dressed as a bunny this is one of those super cheap

squishies

that come in like a 3000 bag for a dollar the edges are super messy holes everywhere limbs torn off and the design is just a touch of lime green and three dots but I think with a little love and patience we can make this work ooh look at it look at that leg.
I'm going to start by tearing off that big fat piece of plastic and then cutting it out. those terrible terrible edges and now you have a void, so I'm going to stick some memory foam in there too in the ear hole and cover all of that with some puffy paint, just put it in there, okay? now that everything is repaired. I'm going to start painting wow that was quick the repair process actually took me like an hour power to edit I'm keeping this bunny costume yeah yeah so I'm going to go white with this bunny costume , perfect timing since it's Easter, wait, yeah.
It must be something from Easter. I don't want to wait until Easter to decorate this. I'm sorry, my heart broke into a million pieces. Let me pick it up. I was planning on making that

squishy

in time for Easter, but that's just the way it is. It's definitely too late now because I have a lot of editing to do before Friday oh oh, this is when I realized that I forgot to cut the nose off of this wonderful thing, so even though I had already painted it, I decided to cut it off. nose anyway, which is a risky decision because the paint will give the cut very sharp edges that can be very difficult to cover.
Do you know what I mean? So I started trying to fill that indentation with slick paint, the reason I wanted to cut. the nose is because I actually wanted to turn this into a person in a bunny suit. This isn't the first bunny costume squishy I've made, but I think this is the first human squishy I've made unless you count the mermaid, but they're half fish. I'm adding little hairs coming out of the costume. I thought because gray bunnies have white tails, maybe white bunnies can have gray tails, it just looks like poop, so let me forget about it, add my little signature, okay, here's the before and after, I think it's a big improvement over what it was. it was and I'm very happy with it, it's interesting because he seems very worried Hi guys, hello, maybe he's worried because he looks like an idiot, so little one, welcome to your new house, what am I doing with my life?
So I tried to match these. two wearing the same colors, but I really have no idea what a bunny costume has to do with the cabin in any way, he's just a weird little guy with a weird little house, okay, back to the last squishy I'm making for this. The week is the unicorn, what could you call it a unicorn? She has wings, therefore she is an alicorn, so obviously we have problems here. We have what appears to be a Lisa Frank sticker there and a good amount of glitter attached to it. There is a. one eye on the moon and one eye on the alicorn can I call him a unicorn?
Please, it's like you're eating each other's faces or sharing a face, let's see what we can do with this one. get rid of the stickers, sorry, then I'll take some fabric fusion and glue this ginormous tear, combine it and put a rubber band on it, uh, no, no, I don't think it's going to work, here we go, boom, we're back . On one piece there are still cracks in the surface, so I'm going to seal all of that with a bunch of slick paint and use a brush to blend the edges so they don't get too bumpy and once again I'm painting this. white, I'm going to use metallic fabric paint which has zero hiding power, it's really hard to get them to appear in any color other than white, okay, I'm getting my metallic paint ready and now I'm going to go to the moon one once again. step for men, you see what I mean by zero coverage power, these are super sheer so it takes like a million coats to do anything.
I was actually really surprised that so many people requested to see this soft renew most of the time, it's huge. one either the super damaged one or the really ugly one, but this is a normal thing, but I'm here to do what people ask me to do, except when it comes to eyes that finally look good, so I'm going to use white again and I'm touching up all those areas where the blue is encroaching and it's interesting because the metallic paint is very transparent and weak but once it's there it's very difficult to cover it no, no, oh oh, that's wet paint that's white. paint okay I'm going to try something a little different oh boy this is a glitter fabric paint that I have a ton but never use so let's give it a try so I thought I could do some multicolored hair basically it that I had. before, but just with glitter and I thought it would look cool, but maybe it's not too many colors, so let me get rid of the lime green and stick with these colors, once it dries, you can't really go over it. with regular paint I had to decide while it was still wet if I liked it or not after consideration I decided I hate it it's horrible so no so now I have to go over the rest of the glitter that didn't come off and cover it up. so I can try a new idea this time I'm just going to paint the hair with metallic yellow.
I was thinking, you know, moon, stars and stars are bright, stars are yellow, it's a star unicorn or sorry, alicorn, and I made the wings blue. combination with the moon and I chose metallic gold for the details, so you know we have a yellow and gold star theme I guess, and I kept the body white, which I regret because I think I could have done something better. a little more interesting since the previous body was white, but that's what I chose to do. I'm going to give glitter another chance. I really wanted this unicorn to be sparkly, so I just used this glitter on the wings, mane, and everything. which I think turned out pretty well, the only problem is with all the layers of metallic paint and then the glitter on top, I lost a lot of definition in the hair so it looks a little blotchy, now I'm adding a bit of the final details the ears the eyes that look so dark so hard so strong they look like a ghost and then some stars because the moon looked a little plain it looks like a person and then I decided to go back in and try to outline some of the areas to get the details back what kind of job I covered the stars with glitter I signed my initials and that was it.
I will say that I like it better than the original. I don't hate it, but it's definitely not. one of my favorites it's cute, it's pretty, I think it's a good change, super soft, and you know, the tear is gone of course, so it's good that the wings look a little weird to me now, they almost don't look like wings anymore. like a strange type of backpack or like a saddle, hey guys, how are you doing? That's all for today. I feel like you guys picked two really tough ones in this episode, there weren't a lot of repairs or modifications that had to be done, but I had a lot of trouble finding a creative way to make them different than the originals, but overall I think they turned out well, so I'm happy with them.
I hope you enjoyed this episode and see you next Friday, bye twinkle little.
