I'm sitting on the floor basically in this car, but the view forward is still very good now. I noticed it in really tight corners, it just helps the car put down the power even better. I would do it. I'm not saying it's an essential upgrade just because you have all the weight in the rear, which gives you great traction anyway. I'm going to do this last one with the windows open again just to experience the noise, here we go, let's see slow, it really does. grip, but the upgraded suspension, anti-roll bars and drop links really help it stay reasonably flat in the corners. I only have a reversing camera which was an optional extra so I'm going to be very careful because I don't want to catch any of the bodybuilders and the arrow. One thing I do notice when I'm driving is that the noise level here is definitely louder than the 996, although it is an older car and quite crude, the 996 is based on the same platform as the 997, but the 997 has a lot of more soundproofing. and it just feels like a more modern car, quieter and more relaxing, that 996 is raw, but it's much more roaring still, it has a quicker throttle response than that 996 despite all the wire accessories and all that kind of mischief he actually has. The best throttle response of any car I've ever driven, more than an electric car, is like this, the initial acceleration is crazy.
Now there's a big difference between this and the 996, the speed at which you can downshift, look at this 1 2 3. 4 in a second and there we go, oh my goodness, and the sound of that engine actually coming into the cabin is much better than that 996, let's try a little with the window open, here we go? Oh, 9,000 RPM, it's my favorite engine in the world, this Flat 6, there's something about it and really this car is all about how it handles and it's on another level on a twisty road compared to that 996. I mean, you feel 25 years of development and then some because This is the GT product.
The biggest difference is the steering, it's a lot quicker and the front end of this car plays a big part because you've got that Wishbone double suspense mention and like the Mcferson strut on the old 996 it just has a lot more front end. Final grip like you really notice it compared to the previous generation GT3 RS, you find it jumping and skipping a bit but it still seems able to put down its power and get enough traction and grip to be fair this is a pretty bad road and ok it's not just for track i think it drives better than the GT3 they just upgraded the suspension and then there's the axle of course to be fair you don't really experience much on the road but sometimes it comes into play . plays especially when you're braking and that Wing just does its job just adding a little bit more resistance and the traction is crazy and the brakes that the 996 can use with its ABS pretty fast, but this I mean, it's like it feels so special.
You don't have as much feel through the steering wheel telegraphing every imperfection in the road, but every little move you make you get a response in the car's attitude and even though you can't completely overcome it. butt, you're just getting emotions from it, just the sensations it gives you through the steering, through the paddle shifters, through your butt and through your ears too, oh and your insides when you're braking and accelerating and you're just Feeling the G's that you're pulling this thing, but to me one of the best things is just this, but that's the speed limit right there and this is one of my things about this car compared to saying go for a st, which is a manual because really in the st you are not going to change gears much because you can practically do everything in second gear, wow, what a thing, so my final verdict is that the gt3rs are really 10 times better than my 996, well, objectively not, of course.
