part. It was

great

. - That was what they were trying to do with the Hobbit in the past. He wasn't the biggest fan of that kind of high frame rate in The Hobbit. -It had to be even higher, -but this was different. So, I think there are some things you really have to consider when you're filming like that, and we go into depth on those when you're watching something. That's 4k at 120 frames per second in 3D. You can tell when the actors are wearing makeup. Did any of the actors wear makeup in this movie? - No, I mean there is subtle makeup here and there, traditional makeup is not present in this movie.

But here's the thing, so the fight scenes are right, when you can see every bit of movement. You can tell when a sudden man is going to throw his face before the hand connects how to return your frames for that - Oh, right. you don't see that at 24. So in these fight scenes they need to come in and revive them. So when someone throws a punch, the face doesn't move until the hand pushes against the face. But you know what? We're rambling because what the heck? Who is that? That's young Will Smith. Let's talk a little about the technology they had to apply to the Gemini man to make him look real.

You know, I like to talk about how pores dilate. -Oh yes, the Pore stretch. - POReS STRETCh and Gemini Man, they didn't just take a texture with pores and figure out how to stretch, they took the model and had a procedural generation of pores on the face if you look at the back of your right hand. and you say like this You will see very fine wrinkles And those are the platelets of your skin piled up on top of each otter. And so, the process pores and process platelets allow the wrinkles to follow the appropriate cracks and crevices to get exactly.

Perfect skin microwrinkles. -Didn't Weta Digital do all the effects? Yes, what an effects company! Yes, anyway, silence. So it's important to fix wrinkles, but it's important to fix skin tone, so again, in CG, you might just add texture there, not in this movie. They had simulation of melanin if you do this Blood comes out of the parts of the skin that are crushed or pushed back This is the kind of thing you have to think about when you make the human face It's not easy and Do you want to be surprised even more? The shots with the Gemini man capture the movement of his entire body and represent the entire body as a digital replacement.

The only problem I had with this movie was the movement of a lot of different things, just like the dirt bike. You've heard a pause in all this. It looks flawless, but the movement is what doesn't work for me, like that back whip on the bike that was too fast. So when things break the rules of gravity, like in this case dirt bikes, it's very subtle. But we can all say no. It doesn't feel good. It just goes to show that I think movement is the hardest thing to achieve: it has to die. It is your darkness.
You had to get through this on your own. - Dear animators, please stop moving your upper lip, because there is no muscle that goes from the nose to the lip to pull it up. That's Garry's Mod. That is not reality. In this one, his bottom lip is pushing his top lip up. Seems right That seems... -Yes. There's an otter scene where he's there. He's listening and he's excited, and his upper lip goes, Hmm, he likes the up and down swipes, it's kind of teasing and it's kind of a byproduct of morph targets and motion tracking. But it's not just the Gemini man. at any time There is a computer generated face, if it looks fake, take a look at the upper lip and watch it slide up on its own.
Because there are no muscles there and subconsciously you know it and every time the CG face does it you can actually tell it's fake. Isn't that what we saw deepfake do best with Princess Leia? There is always someone who does deep fake better. So couldn't you just do a deep fake on Will Smith and maybe fix his lip, you know? I'm glad you asked friend. We want to do a deepfake of Will Smith and see how he compares to Gemini. It took us a while. In fact, we found a really good Will Smith impersonator. Super nice guy, he check this out: I think it's one of the best Will Smith fakes.
Have you ever seen, you may have seen our Tom Cruise, he fakes our Keanu Reeves deepfakes, and we've been perfecting the technology and we think we have the perfect - perfect Will Smith deepfake. It's a lot of work, but you're finally here, now go. Make sure the person under the deep fake has the same statue and the same gestures, right? It's about performance and personality. So, uh, let's see what your favorite hot sauce is Red, Red Bird...(???) so realistic so convincing it's all in the performance, check out how high resolution it is and it looks like the expressions are captured perfectly.
Can you maybe show us a

great

expression? That's great. So I just want to point out that the key to this technology is having the perfect person underneath to capture that performance. So I just want to say a big thank you to our Will Smith impersonator for helping us with the perfect deep fake, it was great. That was good! I'm feeling deep, I'm faking it, man! That time I fooled myself. Understood. Thanks Dale Smith. I appreciate you being in our video. Anyway, super nice guy. I did not mean.
