Jun 02, 2021
Hello everyone, welcome to the Cricut craft tutorial. Today I'm going to show you how to do some

iron

-on

print

ing and cutting and we're going to use the Avery brand for

dark

shirts and I'm going to make this kind of boy have a theme. A lot of you were looking for some Marvel heroes so all I did was go to Google and I found a bunch of Marvel heroes that I liked so all I'm going to do is go to my image or the upload button, upload image and browse and everything. What I'm going to do is go to my Cricut folder and search for that image that I found on Google.

Now remember that they are copyrighted. You cannot sell these t-shirts, but you can make them for

your

own use. I'm going to go ahead and let the complex and click continue now. I don't want to delete any of this because we're going to go ahead and use it so we're going to go ahead and click continue and we want to save this as a

print

and then crop the image that's on the left side so go ahead and click on Save. It'll take a minute because it has a lot of colors and stuff, so these usually take a little longer.

More Interesting Facts About,

using avery for dark printable iron on with your cricut for print and cut...

Many people think that the design space is limited, but that is not the case. slow with some of these more colorful images that's how it works. I don't know why we're going to go ahead and put a little boy's name on this, so I think it would be really fun to use these cut out letters and for whatever reason, I think a lot of people's design space will do this in the that you enlarge the image and it doesn't show up right away, so don't panic if it doesn't, so all I'm going to do is add some text and make this guy's name Joey.

I have no idea, it just seems like an easy name, so my font doesn't look very good in this image, so I'm going to slide it over here for a second and I'm going to choose a thicker blocky font for this so that you have a lot of images in lyrics, so let's go ahead and take a look at this one. I think it works very well. It's Arial black. It's one of my favorites when I like thick fonts and I'm going to make this really really big and I'm probably going to go ahead and unlock it because I also want to be able to stretch it out so I can get a lot of the superheroes here and when you unlock it you can stretch it out so it's like this and you can adjust it to

your

photo so it's a little bit too big and I want it to take as much of this photo as possible.

I can and what I can end up doing. I think we're going to go ahead and ungroup this because it'll be easier to make sure I have all my superheroes here and I'll see what happens if I click bold on this. also and see if it gets fatter, it actually doesn't so what I can do is change my font. I want something super fat just because like I said I want to have as many of these guys faces in here as I can sometimes you just have to play around and see what you can find which is a thicker fatter font and sometimes if you put them in bold, they get very, very thick, which is good and you can ungroup them and spread them out if you want, it just depends. about how you want to do it, so I'm going to look for a minute and see who it is, it's definitely not like that.
If I can find a thick font to use, I try not to use anything that has very thin lines. on it just because they don't show the image very well sometimes Franklin Gothic sprit II well honestly this is just a matter of personal preference and you can find some super blocky fonts on some of the websites like the font and some of those others. guys like that, I actually think this one is pretty good, so let's move on with this, this is something I can't pronounce because it's German, so I'm sorry, so I'm going to go ahead and ungroup this because I want to make sure they can look like their faces or at least some of the main characters' faces, so once you ungroup them you can move each letter individually, so I see I have Thor and Iron Man here, so I'm going to put my J right on top of those guys . this is where we're going to use cut and you can only cut two things at a time so we're going to do each letter individually so I'm going to go ahead and cut the J by selecting the J and selecting the big one. image and then just click on slice and what you'll see is that eventually the image will come back and we don't need this big black J anymore, we need this one, we still need to keep the image, so let's move this J like out of the way and we'll do the Or below because you are next in line and for some reason design space likes to put your image right in front and when you do that your letter goes behind us, you can't see where your letters will be covered , so all you have to do is right click on the big image and just tell it to move back and all it will do is put it on the back of your image.
Now, in this one, I see that I have Captain America and some. other guys and Wolverine and Spider-Man we're going to try to get to the e, so let's go ahead and cut it here again, select the letter, select the large image and select cut again, we'll bring the image back. Take a second. Can. Get rid of the big one and we can get it out of the way. I do this to make sure I'm not overlapping my letter and trying to cut, so we'll bring in the E and see how I did it again, so just right click on move back and you can move the E.
Now I want to make sure I have Spider -Man here and I think he is practically the main character that is there, so let's move him so that he is more or less inside. there and let's take this guy's face, this red guy and we'll just select the letter and we'll select the segment and again it takes a second to come back, we don't need the black e, you can just delete it and there's your E and now the Y the Y I want to make sure I have Hulk here, so I'm going to go ahead and move this back again because I think Hulk is one of the main characters.
I'm not very good with these Marvel characters. so you just want to make sure that your Y is in the entire image, select the Y, select the image and select the segment again. It takes a second to come back, that's just how it is, I don't know why I actually don't even know where my Y went. so what are we going to do, let's go ahead and click undo and click undo again and see if we can, you know why that happened and sometimes the design space just has problems, so select the reason, select an image and select a segment and hopefully this time. will work out and it did, so get rid of your and and let's get this Y out of the way, this time we can get rid of the big picture, we don't need it anymore and here's our name, so we'll just use the name Joey and everything I'm going to What to do now is line up my letters, so I'm going to make sure the bottom of my letters touch this bottom line here so they're all lined up and we're going to put them pretty close together because I want them to look like the full image without being too crazy.
You can see part of Spider Man here, so I think he's pretty well done. From this point, you can make it larger so that it covers your entire shirt. I'm going to wear it and it's too big right now, but I'm going to wear a boy's size. I think I have a small one on this one. I have a little black shirt that I bought. I found mine at Dollar Tree and it's a child's medium, so what I like to do when I make this is measure my shirt before I decide what size I want to make, but because it's a print and cut, we can only use one size so big, so remember one print and The cut will only fit nine.
I think it's nine point two five by six or I can never remember the exact measurements, but either way it's pretty small, but since it's a children's shirt it doesn't need to be very big, we could get away with it. it's about nine inches wide, so let's go ahead and make about nine inches wide go down to nine, maybe a little less than nine and it'll only be about three and a half inches tall. The first thing I'm going to do is attach my letters because I want them to stay in the order that I have them and I want them to stay arranged like this, we're going to go ahead and click "Do It" and you'll see our letters and this black box appear. and that black box is going to print and that's okay because that's how the cricket reads where it's supposed to cut, so let's go ahead and click continue and I'll send it to my printer and I don't know how well you guys can do that.
Look at this, but if you turn on bleed, you get fat, chubby letters and if you turn it off, the letters are thinner. I'm going to leave the bleed on because that will ensure that I don't have anything white around the outside. of my blood, let's go ahead and print it, we'll go to the printer and I'll show you how to print. We are

using

the Avery brand for the

dark

ones. I recommend it, the colors are brighter even if you are wearing a light shirt, make sure you load the paper the right way so know which direction your printer prints, some will print on the paper if it is facing out and some will print on the paper. will print on the back of the paper so I know mine prints on the front so just making sure they load it correctly sometimes you might want to do a test cut and print or print and cut just to make sure that everything is working, everything looks correct and it continues, prints and cuts correctly.
I'm also going to use a homemade

iron

. This is a waterless steam iron. We've had it for a couple of years. I'm just

using

it because I don't have a heat press, so we're going to print this and I don't know how well you can see, but see it comes out here and there's a black box around it and you can see the letters are a little thick, so it's going to continue. Go ahead and print this. I'll show you. how to cut it in just a minute and then we can apply it to our shirt before we can cut this, we need to say let's set a custom material on this and I'll have to see if I can find what I need.
I'm searching because I'm not sure what's underneath. I do not remember. I think it's under the iron. It's so

printable

. Iron in the dark. Go ahead and click Done. It will tell us that we can go ahead and load. our mat so I'm going to prep them and we're going to cut it we're ready to cut so we're going to make sure we choose our custom material which we did and then we're going to make sure we load the Sandow Matt I'm using a blue mat. I'm doing it for the fact that this is a little, I would say like sticky four or non-sticky, the green blanket, tear it down basically because there's like a paper backing on this and you guys will do it.
Look, here in just a second, I want to make sure that, like in the corners, you press down, one of them caught it, so we're going to go ahead and let it cut and you'll see that it's going to read our registration mark so it takes it all out. . the entry pushes it all the way out and then it starts across the marks and I don't know why you guys can see on the camera but there's a light and that's what reads your registration marks. I see a lot of people having problems. with him reading your registration marks two tips make the light in your room less so maybe turn off the overhead light or just close the lid of your machine and that will help shade it and also make sure it doesn't there is nothing blocking the back. of your machine, if there is something blocking the back of your machine, it will hit your paper and may cause you to not read your marks, so you will see that it will cut each letter individually, we will ask you to do this. that we don't have any of this light background on our shirt and I'm just going to cut each piece of letter in the middle of the oh and as soon as I'm done doing that, I'm going to take them off the mat.
I'm going to take it off the backing so you can see it because you don't iron it onto this backing like you would with some like the HTV, regular iron on solid material and even some of the prints that need the masking. Also, this is not like that, you just need a piece of paper that they include in the box for you, as well as just your iron and a towel, so I'm going to take those off real quick, let's get them off the mat real quick. It doesn't matter too much if you curl it just because they're going to be flat anyway, so you'll see that all you do is just pick up one corner and gently peel it off and you can see that there's this right here. the back of these.
I love this feature of these because it makes it easier to peel them, so once you can get started a little bit, you can just peel them off, look, there's the Y and you see it's a little flimsy, it's very thin. but that's what I like about Avery is that they have that indentation on the back of the paper so it automatically peels off, so we're going to go ahead and remove our letters. Grab a towel and we'll heat up the iron. The only thing I will say: make sure you keep the iron on the highest setting for the fabric you are using.
The shirt I am wearing is a 100% cotton shirt. so we're going to go ahead and put our iron on cotton when we get back we can put an iron down we're going to go ahead and iron our letters so I wanted to show you before we put the sheet on top. See how they look on the shirt now. I just looked at them so they're not one hundred percent perfect. However, do you ever wear a perfectly straight shirt? No one does, but I made sure it was about two fingers. Actually, this one is more. like three from above, but I think in this oneT-shirt will look good if it is a little lower, especially for a child.
I usually use the label as the center strip, so I just use the label and the center between the O and the e. so all you're going to do is cover it with this paper is basically like a thicker tissue paper and then grab your iron, I said, remember, set it to the hottest setting for the fabric you're using and just press it down on the instruction sheet, allowing me to see if I can pull. that while it's ironing and you can't let it sit for just a minute you don't have to move it um I just want to read it to you, it says to place the transfer design face up on the garment if you want so that's it One thing I should mention to you guys. if you're making a print and cutting like this and my iron beeps a lot that's crazy what you should do, don't mirror it because you're not going to put it upside down like you do with regular heat transfer vinyl, cover the transfer With the tissue paper provided when you iron the transfer, make sure to apply firm pressure slowly from left to right, top to bottom and in each corner, and then turn off the iron when finished, so basically don't burn your house, I would still press them because I didn't want them to slide and I pretty much try to do it in a general pattern but just like with a normal iron you're going to want to add pressure so what I do is give it a light pressure to start just to get a tack towards down so it doesn't slide while I'm doing this and then as I go I'm going to add pressure to it now that I want I'll show it to you and we can take a look at it right now.
You can see it's a little bit of an audience and you can see some spots where it's not like, especially here at the bottom of the J and I don't know how. Well, you guys can see that, but it's raised a little bit, so we know where we need to put a little more pressure. This stuff will be much smoother than your plates, especially your glitters and holos. This thing is incredibly thin, but it's really easy to use and it's fun and it lasts quite a long time as long as you follow the washing instructions. I will put a link in my comments section below where you can purchase this.
I bought it on Amazon because it was the best price I found, um, you can buy it at Walmart and stuff like that too, but I think it was only about five dollars on Amazon and I got, I don't know, ten sheets, I think I got five five sheets, so I got quite a few sheets, which is great now, the washing instructions say to wait 24 hours before washing, wash the garment before wearing it, but you'll want to turn it inside out, cold water, use a color-safe detergent and wash by Separate from other clothes, do not use bleach.
You'll probably remove it as the colors can fade a wet flux for too long, which makes sense because this is just printed there. Tumble dry low on lowest setting. Do not iron directly on the transfer. Once it has been applied. Transfer image. It's not designed to withstand stretching other than normal wear, so you don't want to put it on like a lady, it's sure to stretch across the bust, you won't put it on as I like to refer to it. like the Shmi diem that some of you know weightlifters use or if you go to the gym with it, things like that now you want us to let this cool before peeling it, but I'm a rebel. peeling it off I'm a rebel I'll say I put a towel down and I forgot to show it to you, but there's a towel under here just to protect my work surface and all I'm going to do is go around the edges. and I see that it lights up a little bit.
I don't think those who want it stick very well. That J just doesn't want to stick at all. The J didn't stick. The other letters stick well. I don't know why J doesn't want to stay, but no. it's like that, so we'll go over it again and make sure we put a lot of pressure for some reason on this. J just didn't want to keep everything else. it's glued together perfectly well, it feels nice and flat from time to time, guys you're going to run into this, don't get frustrated, it just happens that you're going to get a piece that for some reason you don't like that part of your fabric. and it could just be because he's right on the edge of the towel too, so I just want to make sure I press him very, very well with a lot of pressure because that one, for some reason, just doesn't want to play.
Well with the rest, now you'll notice that I have both hands on this and I'm pressing very, very hard. I'm doing it because clearly this J just wants to be a big smelly asshole, so I'm going to double check him now and Look, and now he's really stuck. I think he just wasn't getting enough pressure because the edge of the towel is right here and it's a little bit like a lip, so he probably wasn't pressing it very, very hard, so when you do it. This will make sure you know what's underneath, especially if you put a towel underneath.
Now we have to let it cool for a while and then we can use it after washing it, but I think this is really fun. Kids will love them. types of things you can do this with family photos, you can do this on blankets, things like that, but there's a lot of things you can do with this

printable

vinyl and technically it's not vinyl, but it's not the kind you'd imagine. It will be because it is very, very, very soft and I will show you the package again. This is what you are looking for and you can see how vibrant these colors are.
I think they turned out very beautiful and make sure that when you use them. It has an inkjet printer. If you have any questions, let me know in the comments below.
