Turning My Foot Into a Jolly Rancher

Turning My Foot Into a Jolly Rancher
in today's video we are going to see if it is possible to make a silicon mold out of Nate's

foot

guys as you may have heard we're running a limited time twenty five percent off sale in the shop if you're trying to think of a great gift to buy something for Christmas and now is a great time to pick up one of our build kits so go ahead and click the link in the description to get yours today because we've made some fun silicone molds in the past and it's been a while and we wanted to try something new so we have a bucket of silicone we've got some catalyst and I think this time what we're gonna try to make a mold of is my right

foot

here's the basic idea we have some silicone we have a way to make it container for it and we have an 8 we're going to see if we can actually mold neat's-

foot

in silicone and if we can keep them still for that long if we candy mold it what can we make this mold into normally if you want to make a silicone mold of a body part you use Al Jazeera's Elgin or there's specific like lifecasting it's called lifecasting silicone it cures a lot quicker this stuff can take up to two hours before you can D mold so it's gonna be interesting because we're going to try to make a mold with this stuff that takes hours to cure and we're just gonna build a box and have me sit there with my

foot

in the mold for hours until he can pull it off I already washed my

foot

once and we'll wash it again...
turning my foot into a jolly rancher
because it's now been in my sock and shoe for a few hours I also made sure like you only just like were you getting ready to come to work today just like I'd better wash my

foot

now just the one I washed everything and then especially my

foot

I also made sure to like trim my toenails and I I don't think I had much hair on my

foot

I don't exactly have Hobbit feet but just in case I like took a razor and ran over my whole

foot

or at least a lot of my

foot

just to make sure there wasn't like peach fuzz or something that would get stuck in the silicone so first step is we need to make up the Box yeah last time I said a shoebox he said no I think there's too much space in a shoebox we're gonna want to make a custom box and we've made custom boxes for molds before like a chicken had a custom box mold around it but we're not gonna be using the acrylic this time that like bolts all together we're just gonna be using some foam core we're gonna glue it together and then reinforce it with tape while my

foot

is in there have it all peel off and then to actually cast up and it will probably just have to wrap tape around it it will be a fair Boxey mold there might be some angles on it like for the angle of my leg going back well I think to start we should just make a rectangle it's never the size of my

foot

okay I guess we can go for an even more

foot

shaped box it's just gonna be harder to build but not much because it's just gonna...
turning my foot into a jolly rancher
be straight walls looks just like my

foot

oh this is gonna be a funky shoe box okay if we were to stop this now and just leave it it would just be ruined it's not mixed well enough to actually kick or anything else we have catalyzed portions of the silicone just surrounded by uncatalyzed portions of the silicone so there's no taking breaks once you start mixing you you don't get to stop until you are done concrete head of myself just using that as a leg rest to keep my

foot

we want it just a little bit suspended off the floor but we don't want him to hate life so that's gonna give us about a half an inch between him in the bottom of the catalyst so I'm gonna do so I'm going to pour a tiny bit in there we're gonna explode like he's going to tip his

foot

into it because we don't want any bubbles underneath he'll shift move it around so there's no bubbles and I'll slowly pour over it some more there's no getting around that there's gonna be some bubbles in the silicone I go over here on his

foot

but this stuff is very thick we're not using this thin stuff so so we're gonna start by just pouring a nice even layer along the bottom of it good way to try and get some bubbles out as poor as high and thin as you can as you go you don't really have the luxury too much time right now we're just we don't have a vacuum chamber a large enough to vacuum out of this like almost a gallon of silicone at once...
turning my foot into a jolly rancher
and he's gonna have to wiggle it around a little bit all right I'm gonna pour over it now very odd sensation it doesn't conduct heat as quickly as water so it doesn't really feel like submerging my

foot

in water but like it's obviously a little bit cooler I also not sure if my

foot

like floats in this so I can't tell if I like do I need to push my

foot

up more or down more or where's the buoyancy here yeah I think we're going to end up needing to cut out the space in between my toes when we cast anything in this I think it'll lock around my toes otherwise I think this is about as high as we're gonna get on tip oh we're not really getting ankle bones I think that's all right we're getting up

foot

literally just tapping this along inside of this

foot

and yeah when it's what's in here he's not very easy to feel what's happening I would assume I think we're about as good as we're gonna get well we'll get you some food we'll get you a drink and we'll turn on some Disney movies alright it's been about two and a half hours and I think we're now at a point where it's cared enough to take my

foot

out encouragingly just a little bit right here it is peeling away from my stand yeah so that's a good sign that I will be able to get my

foot

out it's not like peeling off immediately you're like falling off but I think we'll be able to get it out and overall this was not...
terribly uncomfortable there was one point where it felt like I kind of didn't have much blood flow so I had to just like lift my

foot

up and you know massage my leg a little bit but overall I went pretty well you can see it does have some wrinkles in it and that means that after the top had started to cure I twisted my

foot

a little bit in there so he's getting too uncomfortable yeah so I think I probably just like turn the Box like that and then my

foot

hold it that direction but overall I like it let's take it out so looking down in there we definitely got really good detail you can see the little cavities of each one of my little toes we've got a lot of melted

Jolly

Rancher

here we do hopefully enough to fill my

foot

not lot to nuts more or maybe we'll just like fit some unmelted

Jolly

Rancher

s down into the goo that's enough

Jolly

Rancher

s to film my

foot

okay so if we want to keep well out of your toes why don't we just pour this down into the toes right now let's tip it yep that'll help a little bit but it's still the bubbles that are in the candy are going to rise into the into the top of the candy and they won't be able to escape very well one of my concerns is not a huge concern because this is a lot of silicone it's thick and heavy but is anything peeking out the sides we don't think it's gonna be a perfect thank you very cool should be in business we poured our melted

Jolly

Rancher

candy into the

foot

mold...
and then we had a little bit left over so now we're just playing around with blowing the candy like we're glassblowing I think both of us have a tiny bit of experience with glassblowing but not much it's been a couple hours it's very cold outside the

foot

I believe is gonna be solid all the way through we had a ball mold that we poured some of our extra

Jolly

Rancher

into as well as just down in this silicon mat for fun now we have these little decorative pieces that would be great on top of a cupcake it was pretty neat now it's pretty messy tape does not stick to the mold even a little bit I should probably get there we have our razor blades over here because as I was predicting I think that the

foot

will not come out as easily as my actual

foot

did it's not flexible oh my head yeah okay so I'm just gonna cut all the way around the toes yep always gonna be a ton of bubbles when you're working with sugar and silicone they don't really like each other there's no getting around that not that we found so far if anyone knows how to get around that please share oh I heard something break was that a seal popping or is that a toe breaking on all of your toes are still attached yes yes it worked amazingly we even got like this gaps in between my toes it's perfect you can really see gaps between my toes they stayed perfectly ah this is great alright I do want to clarify I don't care that it's him licking his own

foot

he scrubbed...
this for a long time before we even poured sugar into it just like he said he would this thing was fully sterilized I still could not bring myself to lick that as well you shouldn't that's weird yep not gonna do that let's talk about the detail that I picked up even with all of the holes that the sugar has created here you can see Nate's toenails you can see the wrinkle in the back of his ankle all of the lines in the arch of his

foot

this is the part that is the craziest to me is this gap here you can actually see like you were saying Nate you've got perfect little toe prints here yes I do guys we now have a candy casting of my

foot

and it's pretty darn accurate we've also got a mold of my

foot

that will allow us to make my

foot

in other things so there's anything you'd like to see us do with my candy

foot

or with the mold of my

foot

please let us know we are open to suggestions just because I think there's a lot of funny things you could have with this we definitely want to try ice so I think that'd be hilarious guys that's it for today but you know we've always got more for you to see hit that box above the top and check out our most recent video and we'll see you in the next one talk to you then
