Turning My Foot Into a Jolly Rancher

Here's the basic idea, we have something. silicone we have a way to make a container and we have a 8 let's see if we can really mold the clean foot in silicone and if we can keep them still for so long if we mold it with caramel, what can we do? Make this mold normally, if you want to make a silicone mold of a body part, use Al Jazeera's Elgin or there is something specific like lifecasting, it's called lifecasting silicone, it cures much faster, this material can take up to two hours before that can shape it. It's going to be interesting because we're going to try to make a mold out of this material that takes hours to cure and we're just going to build a box and I'm going to sit there with my foot in the mold for hours until I can get it out.

I've already washed my foot once and we'll wash it again because it's been in the sock and shoe for a few hours now. I also made sure that, like you, you were preparing to come to work today like I would. Better to wash my foot now just the one that I washed everything and then especially my foot. I also made sure to trim my toenails and I don't think I had much hair on my foot. I don't exactly have Hobbit feet, but just in case. I took a razor and went over my entire foot or at least a lot of my foot just to make sure there wasn't any peach fuzz or anything that could get stuck in the silicone, so the first step is to prepare the box. yeah last time i said shoe box he said no i think there's too much room in a shoe box we're going to want to make a custom box and we've made custom mold boxes before like a chicken has a custom box mold around it, but This time we won't use acrylic, which are like bolts all together, we'll just use a foam core, glue it together and then reinforce it with tape while my foot is in there, we'll take it all off. and then to mold it and you will probably just have to wrap it with tape, it will be a fair Boxey mold, it may have some angles, like the angle of my leg going back, well I think to start we should make a rectangle, it's never about the size of my foot, okay, I guess we can go for an even more foot-shaped box, it will just be harder to build, but not by much because it will just be straight walls, it looks like my foot, oh, this is going to be original. shoebox, okay, if we stopped this now and left it, it would just be ruined, it's not mixed well enough to kick or anything else, we've catalyzed portions of the silicone just surrounded by non-catalyzed portions of the silicone, so so you don't have to take breaks.

Once you start mixing, you can't stop until you're done. I only use the concrete head as a leg rest to keep my footing. We want him suspended off the floor a little bit, but we don't want him to do it. I hate life, so that's going to give us about a half inch between it at the bottom of the catalyst, so I'm going to do that, I'm going to pour a little bit in there, we're going to explode like I'm going to tip my foot. inside because we don't want any bubbles underneath, he's going to move it around so there are no bubbles and I'm going to slowly pour it in a little bit more, there's no way to avoid that there will be some bubbles in the silicone.

I'm going this way. the foot of it, but this is very thick, we're not going to use this thin stuff, so we're going to start by pouring a nice even layer on the bottom, a good way to try to get some bubbles as poor as tall and thin. as you can as you go, you don't really have the luxury of much time right now, we just don't have a big enough vacuum chamber to vacuum this up like almost a gallon of silicone at a time and he's going to have to. move it a little bit, it's okay.

I'm going to pour it over him now. Very strange feeling - it doesn't conduct heat as fast as water, so it doesn't feel like I'm dipping my foot in water, but it's obviously a bit. a little cooler. I'm also not sure if my foot floats in this, so I can't say if I like it. Do I need to push my foot up more or down more or where is the buoyancy here? Yeah, I think we're going to end up needing to cut the space between my toes when we throw something into this, I think it will lock around my toes otherwise, I think this is as high as we're going to reach in the toe Oh, we're not actually getting the ankle bones.

I think okay, we're lifting the foot, literally, just tapping this inside this foot and yeah, when that's what's here, it's not very easy to feel what's happening. I guess I think we're as good as we're going to be. get better, we'll bring you some food, we'll bring you a drink and we'll put on some Disney movies. Well, it's been about two and a half hours and I think we're now at a point where we care enough to drink. my foot encouragingly just a little bit here is coming off my support yeah so that's a good sign that I'll be able to get my foot out, it's not like coming off right away it's like it falls off but I think I'll be able to get it out and overall , this wasn't terribly awkward.

There was a point where I felt like I didn't have much blood flow, so I had to just lift my foot and, you know, massage my leg a little bit. a little bit, but overall it went pretty well, you can see it has some wrinkles and that means after the upper started to heal, I twisted my foot there a little bit, so it's getting too uncomfortable, yeah, like that Which I think I'd probably like. Turn the box like this and then my foot will hold it in that direction, but overall I like it, let's take it out, so looking down we definitely have very good details, you can see the little cavities of each of my little fingers that we have. lots of melted Jolly Rancher here, hopefully enough to fill my foot, not much more or maybe we just want to put some unmelted Jolly Ranchers in the goo, that's enough to film my foot, okay, like this So if we want to stay away from our toes, why don't we pour this on our toes right now?

Let's tilt it, yes, that will help a little bit, but still the bubbles that are in the caramel will rise to the top. of the candy and they won't be able to escape very well, one of my concerns is not a big concern because there is a lot of silicone, it is thick and heavy, but if something peeks out from the sides, we don't think it will be a perfect, thank you, very well I should be in business, we poured our melted Jolly Rancher candy into the pie mold and then we had some left over so now we're just playing around blowing the candy like we're blowing glass, I think both.

We have a little experience with glass blowing, but not much, it's been a couple of hours, it's very cold outside the foot. I think it will be solid at all times. We had a ball mold that we also poured some of our extra Jolly Rancher into. like below on this silicone mat for fun, now we have these little decorative pieces that would look great on top of a cupcake. It was pretty clean, now it's pretty messy. The tape doesn't stick to the mold even a little bit. I should probably get there. Let's have our razor blades here because, as I was predicting, I think the foot won't come off as easily as my real foot did.

It is not flexible. Oh, my head, yeah, okay, so I'm just going to cut around the fingers, yeah, always. There will be a lot of bubbles when you work with sugar and silicone, they don't really like each other, there is no way around it, we haven't found that so far, if anyone knows how to avoid it please share, oh I heard something broke . either a seal burst or a toe broke off all your toes are still attached yes it worked amazingly we even have spaces like that between my toes it's perfect you can actually see the spaces between my toes of the feet, they stayed perfectly, ah, this is great. okay, let me clarify, I don't care that it's him licking his own foot, he rubbed this for a long time before we put sugar in it, just like he said he would, this thing was completely sterilized, I still couldn't bring myself to say it. lick that too, shouldn't you, that's weird, yeah, I'm not going to do that, let's talk about the detail I picked up even with all the holes the sugar has created here, you can see Nate's toenails, you can see the wrinkle on the back of his ankle all the lines on the arch of his foot this is the part that's craziest to me is this space here you can really see like you're saying Nate you have perfect little footprints here yeah guys now I got a candy mold of my foot and it's pretty accurate.
