Forging A Sword Out Of 2000 Jolly Ranchers
Feb 18, 2020In today's video we're going to see if it's possible to melt Jolly Ranchers into a working
sword
guys what's up? We're here with Nikki ojas, he's joining us today for some fun experiments and Bill's done stuff. with Jolly Ranchers before, I think this is more Jolly Ranchers than we've ever used before, the idea was that, like a goofball, it's essentially the same type of candy with a little paper stick right at the bottom, so I thought, that? if we scale up that instead of making a goofball we make a giantsword
and as a fan of final fantasy 7 i heard you were kelly too just a little it brought us buster sword guys this will be awesome here's the basics idea we're here with nicky hoss you thought it would be a really fun idea to see if we could turnjolly
ranchers
into a sword so he has a sword cast and we have a bunch ofjolly
ranchers
we'll see if he can melt it down and make a fun new shape out of them so we actually made a wooden mold and it has like a little stick in it like a real goofball would do assuming the Jolly Rancher like in that volume will hold on to the stick but as you know when science things don't always go well so we're going to start with a smaller version yeah yeah i think what we're going to try and do is you know the idea is we're going to have a sword and it's going to be big, but I think we're going to start and try and do like a knife with melted Jolly Rancher and cast Jolly Ranchers and if that survives we're going to scale it up yeah we'll go up from there a jolly dagger I think we should make some Jolly Ranchers melt ok? so i can work on a mold you guys can enjoy casting them no questions this will take a long time so let's make the mold for the knife we just have a lot of clay here flatten a bit this kind of vague shape of knife maybe use a bit of oil to get it loose and then w We're just going to put a Jolly Rancher in that knife shape.I think we'll just try to sharpen it afterwards, like melting down a blade. for hundreds of something this is 17 or something we've been known to grow quite a bit on our channel this is going to be great I've got a bunch unwrapped here I'm just going to take a little bit to start melting down to make our little dagger help, that's probably enough. It's okay, I have it on the stove. I'll try to keep an eye on it. There you have it ready. We'll pour that into the dagger mold. Good job. We have a girl. Jolly diagonal.
It looks pretty good. so i just got our caramel melt. I'm poor, didn't fill it up and hope it flows well then cools down into a dagger. I also expect it to come out of the tray and clay both of which have been oiled up at this point but you know candy does some weird stuff sometimes it definitely had more candy than needed for this size of dagger ok now we'll let it cool down and then we'll see if it molds and see if we can sharpen it up a bit somehow, that's a lot. from Jolly Ranchers some of them we already melted yeah on some knives they're getting cold right now and I'm really excited about how that goes I'm just gonna get started on that thanks guys three tanks of melted caramel ready . to go hmm ok it turns out if the surface you're trying to stick to is specifically designed and doesn't have stuff sticking to it i mean i think this is great i think we're ready i think we're good good moulton candy ready I love it ready oh , that's good for who is that for good, that's great for the fair or someone you know it's like a rich mahogany more like strawberry it's like the rich oh I remember how I said I was going to make that get there and hold I don't want your arm there I'm still shedding but I have more to do we have to wait we just aren't going to the mall.
I'll hold it down, Kelly, take the rest, it's alright. I'm going to keep pouring this in because as soon as I started pushing it it stopped flowing so I think pushing it down is doing enough of us I'm going to continue to add hot molten stuff to the stuff you're trying to make it play around with not it burns your hand oh your limit you're actually going to hit is like here and down there on the hilt you're about to be as full as it gets so I think we're there for the real good big amount , Nick, let's see if they're considered old if they come out of our greased pans and clay.
I think this is it looks like it's coming off the clay very easily and no problem now the oil on the metal oh wait wait that worked pretty well yeah okay oh well a jolly dagger dagger , a cheerful palette, oh, never mind. it's like a lollipop tastes a little bit like clay and a little bit like avocado oil and a little bit like jolly rancher like my hand has probably never been stickier no this is 100% sweet but i was going to so i took this little pocket of clay, there are hints of spray oil and the blade is ok yeah they didn't break so Watermelon flavored Jolly Rancher Knife attacking a real watermelon.
I'll just see you, yeah, sorry, the merry dagger. I'm going to see if I can stab this into a watermelon, so watermelon. Cheerful dagger versus watermelon. three two one and bye it left kind of an indentation Wow ok let's make the sword yeah I think the sword got cold it should have been all night so now let's unmold it and try attacking some things with she. I think there's going to be a little bit of cleanup not a ton but right here yeah there's a few flashes it spilled over there and then it looks like it's running over the edge a little bit I don't know if that was from surface tension or like it was cool. and shrunk a bit and left something behind either way there will be something clean there's also something really interesting like the eye of jupiter something going on here and it's very much like a hurricane and I think it was because while the Jolly Rancher warmed it up it was rising it was just expanding and it created these perfect little dots, almost like hurricanes, all over the sword, but you know what I think it just adds magic to the sword itself.
Let's call them fierce hurricane spots perfect look at that Wow sure oh wow oh my gosh Wow so the bubble situation due to angle is ok Wow ok a hot knife is going to take this oh my lord it worked so well huh? i can try where we could hit him with that you're playing a dangerous game sir and win he's not scared and i wish you would do it how light it's reasonable it's really very heavy it actually makes me nervous every time he leans to the side just the hair but you won not be able to correct yeah track exactly this you know I'm kind of scared I'm so scared I'm going to be like Boop and then I'm going to break into a million pieces okay so to recap Kelly's going to throw some jelly for test number one you're losing jelly oh my god ready yeah three two one huh hit the sword look there's some jelly on it totally cut the jelly no problem the jelly let's make u n blood work and let's see if we can at least get a little bit of this sword through the watermelon one two three yeah it's ok definitely stabbed it won't pierce a watermelon like very easily there's a lot of momentum because there's a lot of weight behind it then, for our third test we're going to see if we can actually cut the watermelon three two one it cracked massively but it didn't shatter what happened it's like it hit but then it bounced back when you split it and pushed it on the cinder block a lot just it cut back here just go back in Wow and the best part is we still have some of this guy left oh that was beautiful I fractured the whole stick in the middle oh that was great that was awesome thanks to Nick for joining us on this fantastic video and for helping build this phenomenal Jolly Rancher story is no fun guys Nick has his own YouTube channel you should definitely go check out he has a lot of great stuff on there guys , that's not all, you know we always have more for you. to watch go ahead and click that box at the top to check out our latest video and see you next time talk to you then
