Forging A Sword Out Of 2000 Jolly Ranchers

Feb 18, 2020
In today's video we will see if it is possible to melt Jolly Ranchers and turn them into a working

sword

. What's happening? We're here with Nikki Ojas. He's joining us today for some fun experiments and Bill, we've done things. with Jolly Ranchers before I think this is more Jolly Ranchers than we've used before. The idea was that a sucker is essentially the same type of candy with a paper stick right at the bottom, so I thought what. if we make it bigger, instead of making a fool, we make a giant

sword

and as a fan of Final Fantasy 7, I heard you were Kelly too, just a little, he brought us the Buster Sword guys, this is going to be awesome, here there is the basic. idea that we are here with Nicky Hoss, you thought it would be a really fun idea to see if we could make Jolly Ranchers into a sword so that he has a sword mold and we have a group of Jolly Ranchers, we will see if we can melt it down and make a new shape fun with them, so we actually made a wooden mold and it has like a stick, like a real fool would make assuming that the Jolly Rancher with that volume will hold up. to the stick, but as you know, when science things don't always turn out well, then we'll start with a smaller version, yes, yes.

I think what we're going to try to do is, you know, the idea is, We'll have a sword and it'll be big, but I think we'll start and try to make a knife out of melted Jolly Ranchers, melted down, and melted out of Jolly Ranchers, and if that survives, then we will expand it, yes. From there we will climb like a happy dagger. I think we should make some Jolly Ranchers melt so I can work on a mold. You can enjoy melting them. Don't ask questions, this will take a long time, so let's go. What we're going to do for the mold for the knife, we just have a bunch of clay here, flatten out a little bit of this vague knife shape, maybe use a little bit of oil to loosen it up and then we're just going to Put a Jolly Rancher in that knife shape.

I think we're going to try to sharpen it later, like melting a blade. I think we're going to have to start opening things up. Guys, Nate in the past sometimes did hundreds of something like that. he's 17 or something, we're known for being pretty big on our channel, this is going to be great, I've got a bunch unwrapped here, I'm just going to start a little, these melt down so our little dagger will help, that's probably enough. the stove, I'll try to keep an eye on it, there you have it ready, we'll pour it into the dagger mold.

Good job, we have a happy girl on the diagonal. She looks pretty good. Hell yeah, the knife mold is already ready, so we just melted it. candy, you're poor, I didn't fill it and hopefully it will flow well and then cool down to a dagger. I also hope it comes off the tray and clay, which have been greased at this point, but you know, candy does some weird things, sometimes we definitely had more candy than needed for this size dagger, that's okay now we'll just let it cool and then we'll see if it shapes and see if we can. sharpen it a little somehow, that's a lot of Jolly Ranchers, some of them we've already melted down, yeah, on some knives, those are cooling down right now and I'm really excited about how that's going.

I'm going to start with I'll start with that, thanks guys, three tubs of molten candy ready to go hmm, well it turns out that if the surface you're trying to stick to is specifically designed and not for things to stick to, I mean , I think this is great, I think we're ready. I think we're good, okay, Moulton Candy ready, I love it, ready, oh, that's good for who that is, well, it's great for the fair or someone you know, it's like a rich mahogany, more like a strawberry, It's like the rich, oh, I remember how I said.
I was going to do that, go there and hold on, I don't want your arm there. I'm still serving but I have more to do, we have to wait, we're just not going to go to the mall. I'll hold it down, Kelly, you get the rest, okay? I'm going to keep pouring this because as soon as I started pushing it it stopped flowing so I think pushing it down will make enough for us. I'm going to keep adding hot melted material to what you're doing. you're trying to keep it playing for everyone, it doesn't burn your hand, oh your limit that you're really going to reach is like here and there down on the grip, you're about to be as full as possible, so I think they're there to a really good amount, to measure Nick, let's see if they are considered old if they come off our greased trays and clay.
I think this seems to come off the clay very easily and there is no problem now. the oil on the metal oh wait, wait, that worked pretty well, yeah, okay, oh, well, a

jolly

dagger, a dagger, a

jolly

lolly, oh, nevermind, it's like a popsicle, it tastes a little like clay and a little bit like avocado oil and a little bit like Jolly Rancher like my hand has probably never been stickier no this is 100% sweet but I was going for it so grab this little pocket of clay there are hints of spray oil and a blade, that's fine, yeah they didn't. break though watermelon flavor Jolly Rancher knife attacking a real watermelon I'm just going to see you yeah sorry the jolly dagger I'm going to see if I can stab this in a watermelon so watermelon Jolly dagger versus watermelon the real test yeah, which watermelon both, okay, three, two, one and bye, left a kind of indentation.
Wow, okay, let's make the sword. Yeah, I think the sword cooled down, it should have been overnight, so now let's take it out of the mold and try to attack some things. with that I think there's going to be a little bit of cleanup, not a ton, but right here, yeah, there's some flash that spilled out there and then it's like it's going up the edge a little bit, I don't know if that was because of the surface tension . or like cooled and shrunk a little bit and left something behind either way there will be something clean there's also something really interesting like the eye of Jupiter, kind of like something that's happening here and it's very hurricane-like and I think that was because like the Jolly Rancher heat was going up, it was kind of billowing and it created these perfect little spots almost like hurricanes all over the sword, but you know what I think is just adding magic to the sword itself, we'll call them fierce hurricane spots, perfect. look at that Wow right oh wow oh my goodness Wow so the bubble situation because of the angle is okay Wow okay a hot knife is going to take this oh my lord it worked so well can I try to get to where we can hit it?
With that you are playing a dangerous game sir and winning, he is not afraid and I would like him to do it. how light is it that is reasonable he is actually very heavy, he actually makes me nervous every time he leans to the side. his hair, but you won't be able to correct it, yeah, follow this exactly, you know, I'm scared, I'm so scared I'm going to be like Boop and then I'm going to break into a million pieces, okay? So just to summarize, Kelly is going to throw in some Jell-O for test number one.
You're losing gelatin, oh my gosh, ready, yeah, three, two, one, uh, he hit the sword, look, there's some gelatin in it. It completely cuts the gelatin, no problem, we use the gelatin. We'll do a blood test and see if we can at least put a little bit of this sword through the watermelon one two three yeah okay she definitely stabbed won't pierce a watermelon like it's very easy there's a lot of momentum. Because there's a lot of weight behind this, so for our third test we'll see if we can actually cut the watermelon three two one up it broke hugely but it didn't shatter what happened it's like it hit but then it bounced back when you split it and stuck it a lot into the cinder block, I just cut it back right here, it just goes back in.
Wow, and the best part is that we still have some of this guy, oh, that was beautiful, I fractured everything. along the stick in the middle oh that was great that was awesome thanks to Nick for joining us on this fantastic video and helping us build this phenomenal Jolly Rancher story isn't that funny guys Nick has his own channel YouTube, you should definitely go check it out.
