Jun 08, 2021
Hey guys welcome to my channel so in today's video I'm going to do some

trash

y

makeover

s to

treasure

, always one of my favorites. In my

treasure

junk videos, I like to take maybe three items or projects and turn them into something beautiful, lots of the items. They're not really junk even though I call it, you know, hoarding junk, but some people might consider it junk or a lot of the items I actually pick up from people who were going to release them and knew that I do this. that kind of thing and that is always a lot of fun and then some of the items of course I just buy them at thrift stores like this one the first one here is a little pencil case I'm not even too sure what it would have been used for , maybe during a file box or something, but it's green on the outside and has this bright red color on the inside.

I've had it here for a while and I just haven't read it, but I thought this would be a fun little project to redo in this video and then next to me, here I have this bird cage, some of you may remember this from a secondhand video from last fall, I possibly bought it for $12 at a local thrift store. I love bird cages. and I think this one may end up on our front porch, I'm not quite sure yet to see how it turns out, so the last project I have here is behind me an old

crib

that someone brought me and when I saw it I thought I'd probably turn it into a bench or a chair or you know something like that, sometimes you see them on Pinterest, but recently I've been looking at it and I think I can turn it into a gazebo.

I know it sounds far away and I have no idea if it will work out but I'm going to try it guys see how it goes so join me as I work on all these projects and I hope you enjoy them so the first thing I want to do in this gazebo . To be is to get a general measurement of how tall I want it to be and I think in this case I'm going to assume that whoever has this gazebo and if you have it, you know that it will even turn out, maybe use stakes to support it. is in place, so I really just need it to be, you know, at ground level and I won't allow for additional height, you know, to put some of the two-by-fours on the ground, if that makes sense, I feel like 80 inches would do it.

You're right guys, I feel so scared right now. I just finished killing a snake. My cat Pebbles was outside of her and she was kind of chasing her and she started crawling towards the store. Here it was a big snake and I just grabbed the The first thing that became available was one of these two-by-fours and I killed it. I always hate doing that, but I couldn't stand the thought of him lurking around here. I probably should have recorded all of this. You probably would. It entertained me, but I'm glad I did it, just in case.

Here I'm making them 81 inches just to make sure the clearance isn't too short here, so these

crib

side spindles here I want to be the side of my gazebo, but they're too close together, so what I'm going What to do is just remove them from the actual side of the crib, you know, here and then just attach them to my sides and space them accordingly to reach my, you know, 81 inches that I'll be. using my saw to do that, I'll use my brad nailer or air nailer to attach the axles to the two by fours, once I have them attached I'll screw each end into the 2x4 just to make sure it's nice and secured, we're blessed here .
With having an amazing air system, I'm not sure how I talked about this before or not, but my dad actually installed it for us where we have a big air tank or storage tank in our brown tent attic and then up here in this space where I'm working we have the air compressor that keeps the air in the tank we have access to it, you know, down in the brown tent and then in the house as well and then up here in this tent it's really useful, ya you know if I spray paint or in this case I use my pinner and then also air for the tires so since I want to use the end piece of the crib as a door I'm going to have to make my gazebo the same width so this there's the top of the

arbor

here and right now it's 30 and a half inches which is exactly how wide my door will be, but I want my top pieces to stick out maybe six inches, I think that just adds to anything for give. it's kind of an overhang since I want the width to be 30 and a half and I need to add those 12 inches in there.
I would need my top two by four to measure 42 and a half inches uh um um, the paint that I will be What I use for my gazebo is a brand that does it better, its semi-gloss exterior, the color is spectral. I'll run it through my sprayer. I diluted it a little with water for that. I didn't see this on video, but I plan to. apply a clear coat to this

arbor

like an oil base, probably one of those. I'll probably buy one of the cans of clear coat you can get at Walmart or their Rust-oleum brand hardware as well.
I know if it is oil based. it will just repel water better and I realize these shafts are not made for outdoor use so I thought that would make them last longer if I applied them just to keep this gazebo a little sturdier I decided to fasten these braces to the top attaching the hinges here to this door is a guess, I'm not sure if it will work or not as some of my hinges will be on the rounded part and some on the square one, but I'm going to go ahead and attach them and we'll see how it works, so I plan on lining this box with contact paper or wallpaper and what I'm doing here is just tearing off whatever's loose of the red lining that they had here.
I often use this. wallpaper for my project, I'm sure you've probably seen it many times before, but I love it, it's easy to apply and it's available in my etsy store if you're interested in any, so of course I feel like this piece he needs something. words on it, as I often do with my projects. I made this decal and it is also available in my etsy store. I decided that since I'm painting anyway, I'll just throw this bonus in here and paint these springs that were with the crib. I'm sure you've seen this before on Pinterest, that people use this maybe as a pin board, use little pins to hold photos or you could also use it to dry flowers.
I am distressing this piece using paint. bookmark I decided to glue some jute cord to the base of this cage, see how it looks, anyway I had all these leftovers from, you know, making planters for the etsy store, we have pieces that we can't really use for them, so I thought it would be a good way to use them to make something foreign, bye. I hope everyone enjoyed the video. Thank you very much for watching. Before we finish, I wanted to mention that I still have some summer scents available in our candle line. in the etsy store I won't be reordering some of the summer scents until next year so if you still want to burn a coconut with peach nectar and a rosemary sage be sure to visit my store and place your order as I only have a limited quantity available.
I hope everyone is having a great day and I hope to see you in next week's video, bye.
