Top 30 Dollar Tree DIY’s You SHOULD Be Trying!
so this first diy is a fun vase that i think would look great in your bedroom or living room so you're gonna need to pick up two different vases from

dollar

tree

next i wanted to do a fun paint pour technique on the smaller vase lately i've been noticing in a lot of high-end decor a lot of metallic colors that seem to be really popular right now i also like to use those small dixie cups because they're great for mixing up paint so i'm going to start with my base which is usually always white paint i put a little bit of white shimmer paint in there and then i also added in a little bit of white chalk paint whenever i do a base for my paint pour i like to add in just a little bit of water and mix that together i find that it helps the paint to run a little bit better then i'm going to come in with a variety of metallic paints i had golds rose gold silvers and i just added those all to my cup i also kind of mixed them around but this is preference so you can either mix them around or you can just keep them stationary so whenever i start a paper i get out something that i don't mind all the paint dripping on and putting that down first next i got a little throwaway plastic plate to put down and then i put my vase upside down on top of that from there i'm just going to start by pouring the paint down over my face as i was doing this it was a little bit more white than i was wanting it to be because i used quite a bit of white paint i just added a few...

of those metallic colors to my container so that i could pour them back on so if you see a color that you want more of just keep adding until you get that desired look that you want the real magic is when that paint just kind of trickles down and you get those fun little shapes now leave this sitting almost overnight like you don't want to mess with it allow the paint to just kind of pour the rest of the way off when you come back to it in the morning it's going to look amazing what i'm going to do is i'm actually going to take that smaller vase and put it inside of the larger vase and here is how this piece turned out so i was on pottery barn's website looking for a little bit of inspiration and i saw this set of marble like soap containers toothbrush holders and i thought we could recreate this from

dollar

tree

so i picked up a tray soap dish soap container and toothbrush holder and some of them were already white but i wanted them to all be the same colors so i just started by spraying those with two coats of white spray paint next i wanted to give them a marble appearance so what i did was i grabbed a tub of water now you guys have seen me do this on my channel before and i wanted them to be like a gray colors so i had this spray paint that was kind of like a translucent that i decided to use for this project so what you're going to do is you're going to spray your spray paint on the top of the water what that's going to do is it's...

going to create fun little patterns then you can take your items and dip them into the water once you pull your item up you're going to see whatever design you put in the water on your container so i repeated this with all of my items to give them a marbled finish i did have a little bit of trouble with the tray i kind of had to move it around to get it in the water where i wanted it to and the thing is is if you don't feel like they have enough paint on them just add more paint to your water and put your items back in until you get that desired look now another thing i do when i pull the items out i'll take a paper towel and kind of wipe off any excess that i don't like the look of and that just kind of helps as you're going through the process here's how my

dollar

tree

marble containers look styled on my vanity i wanted to give you some other options you could create with florals that were actually you know really neat large wall pieces so i came up with this idea and honestly i love the way it turned out and it's a massive piece of wall art so you're going to want to go to

dollar

tree

walmart hobby lobby anywhere that you can purchase florals you're going to gather some large fall color florals that you think will work together i'm going to start with these two large bundles these are actually from hobby lobby and i'm going to take those large bundles and put the bottom portions together so that the top of the stems are...
top 30 dollar tree diy s you should be trying
pointing one way on one of the bundles and the other way on the other i'm going to take the zip tie that was already on the bundle and i'm just going to zip tie these two together now i wanted the edges of my branches to kind of be spread out at the end so as i was doing this i was kind of spreading the branches out on either side next i came in with some wheat style branches from hobby lobby i cut them off the stems and i just placed them where i thought they looked nice and then i used my hot glue gun to hot glue them underneath those existing stems you want to make sure that you tuck that bottom piece so that you don't see it and then

dollar

tree

has these gorgeous stems out right now that i'm just i'm so in love with them they're so natural and beautiful looking i'm gonna take three of those and place those in my arrangement the more variation and texture that you can have the more fuller your display is going to look next i flipped the piece on the front and i wanted to cover up that center area so i grabbed a couple of those wheat branches i twisted them together so you couldn't see the bottom ends and then hot glued that in the center so that's going to cover up any imperfections from where i was gluing or zip tying next i'll flip the entire piece on the back and as i was doing this some of the pieces were kind of coming undone so then i went in with some additional hot glue just to really reinforce things you could also add in...
zip ties on the back as well now to hang this i wanted it to look really natural so i grabbed some of my nautical rope i'll link the one in the description box that i use and i'm going to just be hot gluing it to the sides of my branches so in order for it to stay i'm really going to have to get that glue on several of the branches so that the nautical rope can hold and be secure in place you can hang this on your wall with a simple nail i hung this up in my bedroom it is massive and i just love it you guys are gonna have to let me know what you think of this piece down in the comments

dollar

tree

now has these really cute baskets so i picked one up not really knowing what i was going to do with it so i've been noticing a lot of the baskets at pottery barn and in the stores have these braided handles or some kind of handle on it i thought they'd be great to update our basket so i grabbed out some nautical rope and then i also had this really pretty navy blue yarn from

dollar

tree

i hope you guys are able to find the yarn that they have at

dollar

tree

now so i'm gonna be making handles with my nautical rope i cut it down so that it would fit nicely on the side of my basket and then i made an identical piece next i started my yarn up about two inches from the bottom of my nautical rope and hot glued it and then i began wrapping it around i hot glued it periodically but you really don't need to add much hot glue and i wrapped it around until i got to...
about leaving another two inches on the other side hot glued that in place and cut off the excess now with my ends that are sticking out i wanted these to look like fringe so i just kind of unraveled them and made them look fringy is fringy a word i don't think that's a word next i'm going to hot glue these handles to the side now they're not going to be on there super secure so they're more of a decorative handle but you could always you know sew them on if you wanted them to be really secure or you could always use e6000 so i'm going to use some hot glue and hot glue them in place i'm going to make an identical handle for the other side of my basket and i styled this with a plant but you could style it any way you like and i'm so in love with these baskets you guys know we couldn't get through this video without recreating a high-end find and the find were these candles that i found off a creighton barrel and i love this ombre look to them with the wood underneath so i went to my thrift store

trying

to find something similar to this wood piece because i knew

dollar

tree

wasn't going to have like a wood candle i found these really inexpensive little wood candles honestly you could grab any wood item from

dollar

tree

and i'll show you how to get this ombre look so i started by placing tape around the center portion of each of my candles i wanted them to be opposite of each other so i wanted the paint to be on the top half of...
one and the paint to be on the bottom half of the other now to get the majority of my paint on there i needed to tape off one whole section of each of the candles so i grabbed some craft paper and taped that around so that when i sprayed that section would not get any paint on it and then i took the candles outside and did two coats of spray paint on each of them next i'm going to remove the tape once everything has dried to get the ombre look i honestly just held the candle holder in my hand and then i sprayed lightly along the edge and that gave me that gradient look you really don't have to add a lot of paint here honestly less is more and it doesn't take much and then you have that ombre effect and here's how they look styled together in my office i love the way that plants brighten up any space especially a bathroom so i wanted to create a plant holder i had these four

dollar

tree

frames that i think i bought maybe a couple of months ago but you can probably find something similar at

dollar

tree

because they pretty much keep the same frames out most of the year so you're gonna need four for this project now mine are black and gold i love the color of them so i went through and i pulled out that backing piece in the frame so i wanted to have some kind of black and white picture in the frame i grabbed some of this adhesive wallpaper off of amazon but you could use scrapbook paper wrapping paper anything you have on hand for this project just...
whatever your needs are and i'm going to trace that around my paper where i want to cut it out i'm going to cut out the four squares and then i'll put the squares back into my frames i did pull off that backing piece of the frame because i'm not going to need that then from there i hot glued the frames together so they created a box now i'm not worried about creating a base to this because it's always going to be sitting down that it doesn't really need a base from there you can style it with your favorite plant or faux plant next we're going to be making a hanging planter i love the way hanging planters look they're great for like a corner of your office you could also put them in your kitchen and bathrooms are great for these as well because sometimes bathrooms are small and you don't have a lot of room to decorate so you could put one of these kind of maybe over like in your toilet area that's a great option for these as well so you're gonna take any small container this is one i actually picked up at the thrift store and i'm gonna spray it with two coats of a flat black spray paint now to create the hanging portion of my planter i wanted to use some faux leather i wasn't able to find any at

dollar

tree

and i went online and found this whole pack of faux leather on amazon that i probably could use for a ton of projects for super inexpensive i'll link to it down in the description box for you guys if you want...
to check it out i'm going to use this medium faux leather color so i'm going to start by cutting out a square that's going to fit up nicely around my planter next i wanted to create holes on the edges of the square that i cut out so i'm just going to use my scissors and my wire cutters to cut a little hole now i don't want it to be too big because i'm actually

trying

to put in some nautical rope in there and if it's too big the nautical rope's just going to pull through so i did kind of a smaller hole next i'm going to be using my nautical rope this again i'll link for you guys you guys know i use this all the time but i'm going to cut off a long strip i'm actually going to make four strips to use for this project i'm going to pull the nautical rope through the faux leather i want to show is actually going to be placed on the bottom once i pull the rope through i'm going to tie it in a knot on the bottom i'm going to repeat this with all three of my other sides now once i get all the rope through i'm going to put my planter in the middle i'm going to cut off any extra string down at the bottom of my knots and the plant that i'm going to be using is one that i love from ikea it's this big hanging plant it's usually out this time of year but it's around five six

dollar

s it's so great you guys i have several of these if you have an ikea i would definitely pick it up so i'm gonna put that...
plant in the middle i'm gonna pull up on my planter just to kind of see how it looks i'm going to tie those together and here's how this planter looks hanging up i just think it's adorable i've really been into purchasing real eucalyptus lately and my favorite place to grab it is that trader joe's i love eucalyptus because it lasts so long and whenever it dries out it still looks really nice well one of the things i've been seeing lately in high-end stores are colorful eucalyptus so i wanted to show you how you could create the same look for less so i grabbed the eucalyptus that had been in my home for probably two to three weeks and i took it outside i also grabbed like a little bit lighter than a navy color spray paint and i'm gonna spray one side of the eucalyptus and then i'm gonna flip it around now when you spray it you wanna spray from the top so that it looks like the paint is coming down from the top if that makes sense and i'll just flip it over maybe two or three times and continue to add spray paint and here's a look at how i displayed it in my home in my last fight below video i picked up this rug i had no idea what i was gonna do with it it's actually been sitting in my office for a while and i've been thinking okay what do i want to do with this so i had this idea that maybe i

should

try to make it into a like wall art piece so i grabbed one of those plastic trays from

dollar

tree

for this project i cut out...
my rug so that it just hung over the edges of this tray about two inches i placed some mod podge on the bottom of my tray then i put the rug in place then i was noticing that the mod podge wasn't holding it in place so i came back in and added in some hot glue as well to finish off the edges i cut off any excess and then i turned it to the back side and hot glued it in place now after i hot glued i noticed that some of the rug was coming up so i just took a plate and put it down on top of that with a weight to hold it in place until it had a chance to completely dry with the mod podge and i styled it on my dresser with a few other items and i just think it looks awesome now when i was doing the diy with the palette earlier i was looking at it and thinking you know this would make a really cool soap dish because wood items are so in right now all i did with this little palette was i stained it with one coat of that golden oak stain and then i wiped it off with a paper towel and i put it out with some decorative soap doesn't this look cute sitting out on my vanity you guys are gonna have to let me know if you like it i wanted to make some candle stands and when i was going out my garage you guys don't have a lot of random things in my garage i found this long piece of wood but i thought you know what these would make perfect candle stands so i cut them into two pieces so i had two pieces for my candle stands and they were a little rough from where i cut them so...
i just started by sanding them down next i went to

dollar

tree

and bought a four pack of these little plastic plates that they have i'm gonna use two plates for this project i spray painted the back in front of these plates with one coat of a gold metallic paint next i'm gonna stain those wood blocks i wanted them to be really dark like almost like black so i grabbed the darkest stain that i could find in my collection to stain i always wear gloves because it can get really messy and i'm gonna use my foam brush and paint on one layer of the stain then i'll immediately take a paper towel and just wipe off any excess i'm going to do this to all four sides next i'm going to hot glue the gold plates onto the top of my candle stands and i'm going to style these with some candles that i already had on hand and here's how my candle stands turned out i love heading to the crafters square at

dollar

tree

there's always so many great finds one of the things i found were these wood oval pieces and i picked up three of them i started by drawing a line on either side of my pieces where i wanted to cut it off with my saw next i lined all three pieces up and cut them with my saw and i repeated this on the other side as well now after you're done cutting your pieces if you have any rough edges you can always sand those down i grabbed some magnets at

dollar

tree

and i'm just gonna hot glue those to the back of my wood pieces and i think these make...
really nice looking magnets on my fridge pottery barn has this really cool white mirror with like this white background and i just love the look of it i knew that i could recreate this so i grabbed a piece of white foam board from

dollar

tree

i also had one of their black circle mirrors already on hand they sell these at

dollar

tree

so i'm gonna remove the mirror portion out of the frame and then i'm gonna paint the frame with two coats of white spray paint then i used a straight edge and traced out where i wanted to cut it next i decided to use the exacto knife that they have in the craft section at

dollar

tree

for this project and i will say it did cut really well i was able to cut the foam board with two cuts now sometimes when you cut foam board it's not perfect on the edges so i went back in with just a little piece of sandpaper and i sanded it down until it looked you know exactly the way i needed it to look next i'm going to assemble my mirror then i'll add some hot glue to the back of the mirror and put it onto my foam board and here's a look at how the mirror looks styled now if you're looking for bathroom storage ideas at

dollar

tree

make sure you go to the glass jar section because these are some of the best things you can get to organize your bathroom i got the largest jars that i could find i bought them in a set of three sets of three just look great so i always try to buy things in sets of three if i can next i'm going to...
spray paint the lids with two coats of a white spray paint then i came in with some rub and buff and put that around the edges next i'm going to come in with some gold handles that i already had on hand these were ones that i was using in another project that i bought on amazon if i could find them i will link them for you guys in the description box and i just used some e6000 to attach those to the top of the lids make sure you're using e6000 or construction style adhesive glue for this because other glues are just not going to hold these in place and that's all there is to this these are great for all those little items that you have out in your bathroom one of the best ways to get a higher end look at

dollar

tree

is to go for items that are in the glassware section because you can spend so much more on glassware and it's literally the same thing you can buy at

dollar

tree

so i found these two interesting bases that i wanted to dress up a little bit from

dollar

tree

so i have this product you guys have heard me talk about it before it's called rub and buff i'll link it for you down in the description box i use it all the time i know but i just love it so i'm going to be using a little bit of one of the gold colors and to paint onto your piece you can use this for anything metals glasses i'm just going to use a foam brush and when you put this product on you almost want to dab it on it actually goes better when you do it that way i'm...
going to dab it on the lid of one of the pieces now for the littler jar i'm going to tape it off with frog tape and just dab it on the bottom i'll remove the frog tape and literally this is a five minute craft you can do but look how cute these vases look now this next diy i've been seeing on a ton of different high-end sites you'll see where they have variations of glasses and florals so i wanted to recreate that look so i went to the thrift store and picked a variety of glassware now you could go to

dollar

tree

and do this as well but i find that the thrift store it's less expensive than

dollar

tree

honestly most of the glasses you can get for 50 cents and you get more of a variation so i picked up five that i thought would work for this project clean them up a little bit i started by arranging the glasses on my table where i wanted them to sit next i gathered some of my fall stems some from

dollar

tree

some from walmart some from hobby lobby here are some tips for arranging florals first you want to start with your largest item and put those into your containers in the middle now from here you can decide if you need to cut those pieces down so make sure you have scissors or wire cutters on hand to help you with cutting the stems next you're going to start by adding in those smaller pieces and as you're doing this you really want to take a step back and look at it and see what's not fitting in or what just doesn't look right as i was...
doing it there were some pieces where i'm like that doesn't look right i'll pull those out my next tip is when you're making an arrangement like this you really want it to feel balanced so you don't want it to be too heavy with florals on one side or the other so make sure you add and take away until you're happy with the final product and here's a look at how it turned out this is an awesome centerpiece to have on your coffee table it would look great on your dining room table and it's super inexpensive one of my most popular projects was when i painted an owl and sanded it so when i saw the fox this year i said hey let's try the box and see how that goes so i went in with two coats of the white paint that i had picked up from home depot and i do kind of regret picking that weight i think it would have been better if i just used waverly white paint because waverly white paints a little bit easier to sand once it has a chance to dry you're going to come back in with sandpaper and you're going to pull off all the details so that you can see the details and the ears the nose the eyes around the tail and it just kind of makes a cute little figurine so here's how the fox turned out one of my favorite items i was so excited to find were these black and white baskets when i saw these in the organization section at

dollar

tree

i was like okay i'm grabbing these i love having these kind of baskets to organize underneath my sink...
in the cabinets and i just love the color of them i wanted to personalize them a little bit so i grabbed one of those little palettes they have at

dollar

tree

and i didn't really have the right tools for this but i just went with it i just started pulling the pieces of wood off and then i used my wire cutters to cut them in half now if i would have been at home i probably would have used a saw but you know what i just kind of went with what i had so i needed three of these little wood pieces next i drilled a hole in the top of them so that i could hang them then i went in with the stain color golden oak and just stained them i just do one coat with my foam brushes and immediately wipe it off with a paper towel i let these dry completely because you don't want to add any labels on because they're not going to stick but while they were drying i went into cricut design space and all i did was just type out in some of my favorite font some different words like scrub wash hand and i was meaning like washcloths and hand towels for those i sent them to cut on my smart white vinyl i just weeded them out and transferred those onto my wood pieces i used a little bit of twine to tie them to the baskets and then from there i just put in washcloths hand towels and little loofah scrubbers i just think these look so nice and you would never know that they were from

dollar

tree

so i'm over in the party supply section i have a great idea for a diy so i picked up this large...
bowl i have this two set of plastic bowls these little mini ones and then i got this mini size two so we're gonna put all this together and make a cool diy for four

dollar

s for the structure next i figured out how i wanted to stack up the bowls because i wanted a three tier tray system and i'm going to use the smaller bowls as my separators and then my larger bowls are going to be the three tiers i'm going to use a combination of e6000 and hot glue to hold the bowls in place one because the e6000 is going to hold it longer and i use the hot glue so it would dry quickly so i could go ahead and spray paint it once i have all the bowls in place i'm going to take it outside and do two coats of a white spray paint now to fill up this bowl you could really do a combination of anything i'm gonna be using some of these natural rocks that i bought at

dollar

tree

and then i'm also gonna fill in with some

dollar

tree

succulents and here's a look at how it turned out i found this vase at goodwill it was really affordable and i love the shape on it so i'm going to start by spray painting it with two coats of black spray paint now you don't need to go out and spend money on expensive vases when you can buy them so inexpensively at the thrift store or

dollar

tree

and to hold them in place i'm actually going to put some

dollar

tree

rocks at the bottom these are just some black ones i had on hand to dress it up i'm gonna put a few eucalyptus stems...
you can get these anywhere mine are from target i'm gonna take all the eucalyptus and tie it together with one of the rubber bands the small little clear rubber bands that i bought from

dollar

tree

i'm gonna fold them in half so i'm not even going to have to cut my florals and put them down into the middle and here's a look at the black face i feel like it's been forever since i've made a pillow out of a rug on my channel so when i was walking down that section i found this green fabric and i thought it'd be perfect for a pillow now you could definitely sew that and i've done that on my channel before but i wanted to give you a really simple option so all you need are two rugs you're gonna lay them out flat with the sides you like facing out and then the sides that are folded over those are gonna be facing in you're gonna hot glue on three of the sides you're going to press that down firmly just to hold it in place now to fill this you could use an already pre-formed pillow i had some stuffing on hand so i'm just going to add in stuffing you can buy this at joann's the thrift store really a ton of different places you could use stuffing from another pillow once i have it as full as i want it to be i'm just going to hot glue the end and here's a look at how my two

dollar

pillow turned out for this next project you're going to grab a

dollar

tree

vase and some twine i'm going to start by wrapping the twine...
around the base of this vase and i'll go up till it's about two inches in height next i'm going to add some of my favorite florals from

dollar

tree

to the vase and i'll show you how i display this in my home i love whenever i'm shopping at

dollar

tree

and i come across an item and i'm like oh my gosh this is going to make a perfect diy that's what happened when i saw these three domes but if you see these grab them so i'm going to start by disassembling the bases from the plastic tops i'm going to spray the bottom halves with an ivory color now if you're wondering where to get spray paint my favorite brand is rust-oleum and i typically buy it at walmart one of my tips when it comes to spray paint is pay attention to the finish that you're buying not just the color do you want it to have a flat matte appearance or do you want it to be more glossy so think about that before you purchase the spray paint with this one i went with a more matte finish so next i'm going to grab some stems that i had on hand now you can grab anything you want i grabbed these eucalyptus i'll link them for you down in the description box and i'm simply going to place them in my dome so that they fit kind of perfectly and then i'm going to clip them at the bottom now these little bases are really cool because they have this little center thing that's perfect for a stem so they stuck right inside i didn't have to glue them or anything...
and then i just put the tops on and i repeated this for the other two domes now this is a super simple diy but how elegant does this look sitting out on your shelf or in a display i was so excited to find these wood containers last time i was at

dollar

tree

i picked up four of them and i knew exactly what i was going to do with them i thought they would be perfect for a drawer organizer for bracelets earrings necklaces really anything i started by gluing the four wood containers together with my hot glue gun next i spray painted it with two coats of a flat black spray paint now i wanted to add a little bit of design to this but i wasn't really sure exactly what i wanted to do so i went into my cricut design space and i searched for like a geometric shape i found these fun triangles so i put them into design space on my canvas then i cut them out on my cricut joy just with some white vinyl i had i pulled them off just like stickers you could really use any design that you like and i placed them randomly i didn't want it to look like it was in any sort of pattern i wanted it to just kind of be all over the place and i put in some of my bracelets to show you how awesome this looks how cool would this be in your drawer or sitting out in your closet with your jewelry so a few months back i created a paint pore vase and i was reading the comments you guys loved it i read all your comments so make sure you leave me a comment and so i thought you know what if we recreated...
that on another

dollar

tree

item so when i was shopping at

dollar

tree

i came across this huge tray this is probably the biggest tray that i've ever seen at

dollar

tree

but i grabbed this gray tray and i decided to do a paint pour on it so in order to do a paint pour what you're going to do is just grab a collection of paint i'm using those same paints that we've been using throughout the whole video and you're going to start by pouring white into your first cup then you're just going to add in additional paints there's really no rhyme or reason to it but you just want to switch off sporadically so you get a variety of paints now i decided since this was a big tray and i kind of had a small cup that i was going to do two cups worth of this then you want to put some kind of container that you can start pouring on so i just grabbed this bowl that i had in my stash it's from

dollar

tree

and i put it in the center of the tray now here is the fun part i started to pour the paint on there and then as i'm doing it i kind of squiggle my hands and i swirl them around this is just going to add a little bit more texture to your paint pour and a little bit more interest once you have all your paint on there you can remove that center item that you used a cup or whatever make sure you have something underneath where that can take all of this paint because there's going to be a lot of excess paint then you're simply going to pick up your tray...
move it around until you get that desired look that you're wanting and you cover every inch of the tray so i kind of had to move it around cover the handles you want to get all of the excess paint off of there you don't want too much paint on there once it's you know looking the way you want it to look set it and let it dry overnight you know it's probably not going to dry within a day so just let it dry overnight now since this was a tray that i was going to be using i wanted to seal it so i came in with my water-based sealer did one coat on it and here's a look at how the tray turned out now if you guys have been watching my channel for a while you guys know that i love these containers from

dollar

tree

for a bathroom organization i have one in my bathroom now with a gold lid that i use for all of my lipsticks they're just the perfect size for a bathroom so i picked up three of them i started by spraying the lids with two coats of a flat black spray paint now lately i've been loving a product called rub and buff so i decided which one i wanted to use i'm going to use a foam brush to put that around the handle just to make that handle stick out a bit so i added some cotton balls i also had some bath salts i think these would be great sitting out in your bathroom on a shelf or your vanity a while back i created a rope tray inspired by this picture that i found on pottery barn's website that i love so much and i wanted to create...
another one of the rope trays in that same grouping so i bought a tray at

dollar

tree

i'm going to start with my nautical rope it is linked down in my amazon storefront i will put the link down below for you guys i'm going to start in the middle hot gluing the nautical rope in place and then i'll continually put hot glue around making sure that there's no spaces in between the nautical rope once i get about halfway done with my rope tray i'm going to cut off the nautical rope and i'm going to come in with a black macrame cord i'm going to wrap this around probably about three or four times doing that same hot glue technique and then i'll cut that off and then i'll go back to the nautical rope i'm going to repeat this step adding in nautical rope and the black macrame once you get to the very end you're just going to cut off your nautical rope and you can hot glue it to the back you guys will have to let me know what you think about this grouped with the other rope tray that i created i love when i'm shopping at

dollar

tree

and i come across something that i'm just like that would make the perfect diy and that's what happened when i saw this busy bee canvas bag i looked at it and i said that would make an awesome sign so i picked it up for just a

dollar

i was looking around for something i could use with this sign and i had this wood piece that i had used previously for another sign at my office so that's what...
i'm going to be using you could also use an 11 by 14 frame at

that would be great for this too or you could get a canvas and put it on a canvas so i started by cutting off the top portion of my bag so it fit right on my wood piece next i have these little black nails i think i picked them up at like a hardware store but they're just little tiny black decorative nails and i'm going to nail them into all four of my corners next i cut off the bag around the edges and it was kind of fraying a bit so i went in with some black paint and just did a little bit of distressing around the edges then with the extra threads i just used a lighter to kind of burn them off around the edges and here's how this sign turned out it really only cost me a

dollar

because i already had the wood and i think it's adorable so this next diy i did was kind of interesting because part of it failed and part of it looked really great so i'm going to show you how i did it and i know what i

should

have done to make it better so i'll let you know that so that you don't make the same mistake that i did so i've noticed on high-end sites they have a lot of sculptural style pieces and i wanted to try to create one of my own so you're going to need some sort of base i'm going to start with those wood slices and i'm going to put some wood filler in those wood slices because there was a little hole in there and i wanted to make sure that i covered that up...
so i'm also going to be using dowel rods for this project i'm going to cut the dowel rods to the size that i want to use the other things i'm going to be using are floral wire from

and i'm also going to be using the wood beads i use in all of my projects now i'm going to start by shaping my wire into kind of like a horseshoe shape maybe a little bit more curved like almost a circle that's not closed at the top and one of the circles i'm actually going to make larger than the other and i'm going to start stringing the beads onto my wire so here's where i made my first mistake with my larger circle i

should

have used two or three wires because the wire i used was not strong enough in the end to hold up this one now my smaller one it held up just fine i didn't have any problems but i did have problems with the larger one kind of toppling over so right here i would have put in some more wires with this one so i strung all my beads on once i got to the top i used hot glue at the top of the bead to hold all the beads in place next i'm going to take a dowel rod and i'm going to hot glue that to the center portion of my beads and i'm going to put a lot of hot glue on there i'm going to push it to where it's connected to my beads once that dries let it dry let it set i'm going to add some hot glue to the back of my beads as well and then i'm going to hot glue the dowel rod to the base i'm going to...
start by putting a little bit of hot glue and then i'm going to build it up i'm actually going to add quite a bit more hot glue making sure i hold on to it until it has a chance to set now once all that is done i'm going to spray the entire piece with two coats of a matte black spray paint now for the first two days that i had this everything was fine they stood up great everything was great but by like the second and third day when i started to take pictures one of them just wasn't standing up so the picture i have to show you is of the smaller one because the smaller one is great so if you do this project make sure you use a little bit more wire or maybe more of a heavy duty wire have you ever looked at the soap dishes at

dollar

tree

and thought you know what these would make really good little trinket trays well that's what we're doing in our next project i grabbed a black soap dish i also pulled out of my stash of my little half circle beads and i'm gonna start by hot gluing those all around the edge of my soap container then i'm going to spray paint it with two coats of a glossy black spray paint this would be really cute sitting next to your sink or your nightstand to throw your jewelry or your rings on you
