people

who are right in front of someone and then in an instant they just disappear or in other cases they disappear and then are found again. but they are located in places that are impossible to reach. A former police detective named David Politis has investigated thousands of these strange disappearances and documents what he finds in his incredible book series called Missing 4-1-1. Today we go. to look at three 4-1-1

Seward Alaska is a port city that is about 60 miles south of Anchorage and is home to one of the oldest foot races in the United States called the Mount Marathon race. Now this race is not actually a marathon because a marathon, by definition, is 26.2 miles long. The Mount Marathon race is actually only three miles long, but it is considered one of the most challenging short races in the world. Because it's basically a mile and a half up a mountain and then a mile and a half down again, despite its grueling nature, there has never been a death or disappearance during the running of this race, but that changed in 2012. . 66 years old Paul Lamate, a longtime resident of Alaska, was a professional counselor at a military base in Anchorage.

His job was to help outgoing military members adjust to civilian life, and his primary responsibility was to help them with their resume outside of work. Paul liked to stay in top physical shape and one of his favorite activities was running, so in 2012 he finally committed to running the mountain marathon race, something he had wanted to do for some time, but kept putting it off over the months. prior to the race. Paul trained hard to achieve it. He sure was ready, he wasn't trying to win the race or even be really competitive, he just wanted to finish the race in a respectable time, so at 3 pm on July 4, 2012, Paul found himself at the start of the race. of mountain marathon and his The family was on the sidewalk cheering him on, the race director fired the starting gun and Paul, along with 500 other runners, set off as a reference.

A man of Paul's age and fitness level should be able to complete this race in about two hours or less, but at 5 p.m., when virtually all the other runners had finished the race and Paul was nowhere to be found, His relatives were worried, but they knew he wasn't trying to win the race, they knew he would probably be on the slower side, but now they were starting to pay attention and were eager for him to show up. 45 minutes later a race timing team at the top of the mountain at the turnaround point started breaking down their setup about 15 minutes later when they were done they started walking down. mountain just as Paul appeared at the top and they said you're the last runner on this course, you still want to continue and he said yes, I definitely still want to continue, so the timing team said okay, just take your time. be careful and we'll see in the end and then the timing team took off right in front of paul going straight down this well marked course and they turned around and saw paul standing there catching his breath getting ready to do his. descent, so the timing team, who were moving much faster than Paul, quickly lost sight of them and before long they reached the bottom, they turned around and there was no sign of Paul, so they went and found to Paul's family and they said: Hello, we.

I just talked to him, he seems totally fine, but just so you know, if you don't see him in 90 minutes, I would contact the race officials and let them know because he should be down by then, so Paul's family is sat at the end of this. The race looked up expecting to see him at any moment, but 90 minutes passed and he never showed up. They ended up waiting another 30 minutes just in case, but he again didn't show up, so they informed the race officials. The race officials immediately contacted the Alaska State Troopers and a search was launched for him because there is fog now on this is a dangerous course and it is starting to get quite late throughout the night.
Hundreds of expert Alaska prospectors combed this mountain so much in the backcountry that they even went in the backcountry. side of Mount Marathon where it would have been extremely difficult for Paul to get there, he would have had to climb the mountain, which is extremely unlikely, but they thought we couldn't leave any stone unturned and so all night they were searching, they brought out dogs and they didn't There is no sign of him the next morning when the fog cleared they brought in helicopters with thermal cameras and continued searching the mountain but after four more days they never found Paul or any of his belongings so they called off the search it was like If Paul had disappeared now it's easy to jump to the conclusion that Paul must have gotten disoriented and lost his way and then maybe fell or been attacked by an animal like a bear because this is Alaska, but there are a couple of problems with that.
The first is that the course itself is extremely well marked. This race is one of the oldest in the United States. They have been doing this for over 100 years and have never had a

person or death. So they know how to keep people safe within the boundaries of the field. The other problem is that the timing team saw Paul at the top in the corner and he was physically fine. He was talking to them. He was not distressed and would have seen it very clearly. where to go next because he would have seen the timing team leaving ahead of him down the path he would have to clearly follow.
Something unusual happened to Paul, either at the top after the timing team left or on the way down because no rational explanations can be given. It cannot be explained how Paul could disappear so completely in such a controlled environment with so many expert searchers looking for him, but to this day no one has found Paul even the slightest trace that he was ever on that mountain in late August of 2004. Kevin Bardsley. and his 12-year-old son Garrett went on a father-son Boy Scout camping trip in the Uintah Mountains in northern Utah. Their camp was located next to Cuberant Lake within the Wasatch National Forest.
The lake was actually quite remote and difficult to access because it was almost completely surrounded by huge mountains, the only side you could reach the lake was the western side, but the western path leading to it was very cumbersome because you had to bypass seven different lakes, so when Kevin Garrett and the rest of the boy scouts and their parents were at the lake they were at least an hour's walk from the nearest civilization early in the morning of August 20 kevin and garrett woke up they jumped out of their tents none of the other campers had woken up yet and so they decided they would go to the lake to fish a little early, they grabbed their gear and started walking down the very well defined 150 meter long trail to the lake.
When they got there, the sun came up over the mountains and they are very excited about their day of fishing, so while Kevin was preparing a fishing rod for Garrett, Garrett was jumping on different stones that were sticking out of the water and at some point he tripped and fell. to the water getting soaked. his shoes in his pants and then he jumped out of the water and he was laughing at himself and he told his dad that he didn't care that he would fish with wet feet and wet pants and that he would change them later and then Kevin laughed and he gave his son his fishing rod and then the two of them started fishing after a while when they hadn't caught anything garrett said to his dad you know what dad this is actually quite uncomfortable i'm going to go change my pants and my socks and then Kevin said no problem, I'll be here with our team, I'll see you when you get back, so Garrett gets up and starts walking back down the well defined 150 meter trail back to camp and Kevin turned around and He saw his son disappear into the trees, but he heard the sound of other campers in the camp and knew that his son would not be alone for the next few minutes.
Kevin continued to fish, but periodically looked over his shoulder waiting to see Garrett come out of the woods again, but he didn't and after about 20 minutes, Kevin was a little worried, so he picked up his fishing gear and started walking away. He returned along the path towards the camp, when he got there he saw another child. The scouts and their parents get up and get something to eat and he's scouting the camp and he doesn't see Garrett, so he walks over to Garrett's tent and opens it and Garrett isn't there and there's no sign of him being there.
He took off all his wet clothes there, so Kevin turns around and asks one of the parents, have you seen Garrett? He was supposed to be here a minute ago and the father said no, I haven't seen him, so Kevin starts to panic and yells at the group, hey, has anyone seen my son? Do you know where Garrett went? He was supposed to be up here and no one knew where he was. They said no, we haven't seen it and Kevin is horrified. all his gear and starts running back towards the lake screaming for his son and the other campers instinctively know what's going on and chase him screaming for Garrett almost immediately the sheriff's de

ment was notified and they launched this huge search that included the FBI .
And so, hundreds of people have descended on the area around the lake and are looking for Garrett. They can't find it, but that same afternoon searchers were about a half mile from where Garrett was last seen and found a single Nike sock. that seemed to have been extracted from a wet foot wedged in one of the rocks in this huge rock field. Garrett's mother confirmed that it was Garrett's sock, so the search effort moved to this large rock field and for days they searched everywhere. but there was no sign of garrett anywhere and eventually the search ended the authorities determined that this was an accident that garrett's father and the other campers had nothing to do with garrett's disappearance their theory is that garrett must have gotten lost in He walked back to camp and eventually died from exposure, but the thought of a boy Garrett's age getting lost along a well-defined 500-foot-long trail that he was familiar with and had been on that day It seems a little far away.
He was also recovered while Garrett was walking along that trail, he would have heard the sounds of the other campers in the campground, which would have helped him figure out exactly where he needed to go. He is on a well-marked path. He's walking towards the sound of the voices but he never made it to camp because no one in the camp saw him and there was no sign that he had put his wet clothes in his tent, so something happened to Garrett almost immediately when he left his father and That made it end. half a mile away in a rock field with one sock missing, it screams abduction case, but remember this camp was over an hour's walk from the nearest civilization and you know that this group of boy scouts and their Parents were the only ones in the area that day.
It's possible that an animal could have taken Garrett like a cougar, but there would have been signs of a struggle and they didn't find any on the road or anywhere nearby and one would imagine if he was being dragged by a large predator. She would have screamed for help but she didn't she just left her father there was total silence and then she disappeared and all we have is her only sock in 1950 when Rosemary was 21 she married the love of her life Charles Bud. Kunst and moved together to a house in San Anselmo, California, together they had six children and 11 grandchildren.
They were known as a very active couple who when they were not with their family and grandchildren were on a hiking trail somewhere enjoying the outdoors. In 1998, Rosemary's life was derailed when she and her husband were in a horrific car accident. When she came to the hospital, she was very seriously injured and was told that her husband of almost 50 years had not survived. Rosemary was devastated, she was lost without a friend, but for the next few months she devoted all her energy to rehabilitating her, which took a lot of time and kept her away from this terrible loss, but when she regained her strength she andreturned home, a wave of grief washed over her, and she began desperately missing Bud.
In 2000, when Rose turned 70, she heard about a backpacking trip run by a group called the Earth Circle Organization and it seemed like the perfect way for her. Rose will try to reconnect with her late husband. led by an elder and chief of the Carrick tribe, his name was Charlie Redhawk Tom and every year he took this group to the spiritual lake that is within a wilderness area near Mount Shasta in California and there they went to the altar that Red Hawk had built right at the edge of this lake and they would perform spiritual dances and try to communicate with their dead loved ones.
Rose wasn't going into this thinking that she was literally going to be talking to Bud, she just wanted to find a way to connect with them spiritually, so she was very excited about this trip. The lake itself sits at the base of a densely

ed bowl with high, steep walls around it, in fact some people say that it reminds them of being inside a mini volcano and because of those high, steep walls, in There is actually only one way to enter or exit the lake and that is on the north side, the only other A semi-feasible way to enter or exit the lake would be on the south side, where a river empties into the lake and where that river flows, the The embankment is less steep, although it is still at a 70 degree angle and would require climbing equipment and the terrain would be completely slippery from the water running over it, so you could do it, but no one really does, so on the 17th August, Rosemary, along with Red Hawk's 12-year-old son, Redhawk, a cook, and 11 others, set out for Spirit Lake after a rigorous 12-mile horseback ride, finally arriving at Spirit Lake and setting up camp right at the path that enters and leaves.
That night, all the participants had dinner together and then headed to the altar right next to the lake where Red Hawk was. and performed a spiritual dance and then as a group attempted to call their dead loved ones the next morning at 9:00 a.m. m., once everyone was up, Red Hawk informed the group that they were going on a day trip to another lake. and they would return that afternoon. Rose told Redhawk that she would actually prefer to stay at her camp and enjoy the beauty of the lake and Red Hawk told her that she was fine, so Red Hawk in the main group left, leaving Rosemary behind. as well as Redhawk's 12-year-old son named Chalet and the cook, a little later, at 1:00 p.m., Rose decided she wanted to take a short walk along the lake shore and asked Chile if he wanted to accompany her and he He told her, thanks for the offer, but I'm going to stay here with the cook, so Rosemary said okay, I don't mind going alone, so she has to cook some food.
He handed her a bag lunch, she took it, said thank you to her, and then she left alone for the south four hours later, at 5 p.m. m., when Red Hawk and the rest of the group returned to the camp chalet and the cook informed him that Rosemary had not returned, but they immediately sent a group to look for her. but there was no sign of her, so Red Hawk turned to her son, the cook, and told him to explain to me again what happened and they said that she was totally normal, she just wanted to go for a walk and she took some food and we watched her. .
They disappeared into the trees, they also told Redhawk that they had been sitting on the path in and out of the lake the entire time Rosemary was away and they never saw her, so she didn't leave the lake. She is somewhere confused and very worried Redhawk made one of the other participants leave the lake and contact the authorities and within 24 hours there were 50 searchers combing the lake for rosemary. The head of the search and rescue team was a guy named Grizz Adams who had led many other search and rescue teams. efforts after studying the area and talking to Chile and the cook and the others who were there I just couldn't understand how a 70 year old woman had managed to disappear so quickly and completely because there was no way for her to go up the south exit because she couldn't.
She had no climbing equipment and was probably not physically capable of doing it even with the right equipment and she didn't go out the north exit of the main trail because Chalet and the cook were there the whole time and never saw her, so where? Was it her as the search continued without finding anything? Grizz called for more searchers in helicopters on horseback and dog teams, but the dog teams immediately proved useless because they couldn't detect his scent even though they knew exactly where it started and where Grizz said that was very unusual for the next few days. , searchers searched in and around the lake and on the mountainsides and all they could find was a small tuft of rosemary hair about half a mile away from where she was last seen, but this hair did not help. investigators to come up with a theory about what finally happened after almost a week of searching and not finding his mother.
Rosemary's children decided to end the search. Grizz Adams, the head of the search effort, said it was the only time he saw anything. that's how it is when someone was trying to disappear, they were trying to end their life, but Rosemary before doing this walk asked Chalet to accompany her, she wanted company, that is not indicative of someone who is trying to hurt themselves, but regardless of the reason to do it. Rosemary has never been found this day so that will do it guys if you found the secret in today's episode let us know in the comments what it is and where you found it so give us the timestamp and if you are the first in doing it. that we'll pin it to the top of the comments section if you enjoyed today's video and haven't already, give the like button a free stay at a motel 6, but be sure to call ahead and tell the staff not to .
