Top 10 WORST Pizzas Served On Gordon Ramsay Kitchen Nightmares

Jun 06, 2021
Although running a restaurant can be difficult, one would hope that a good chef could at least make a decent tasting pizza. Unfortunately, for these chefs even the basics were too difficult to achieve. So here are the top 10 times Gordon Ramsay was furious over pizza! The Moldy Pizza Tower People have

served

Gordon some pretty terrible

pizzas

over the years and everyone thought they knew everything there was to know about cooking. However, Gordon has rarely been as unimpressed by the quality of a restaurant's pizza as Barefoot Bob's Beach Grill. A common problem at Kitchen Nightmares is the quality of the food being prepared and the cleanliness of the restaurant.

You can get very sick if your food has not been cooked or prepared properly. It's called Health and Food Safety for a reason, people. Even though Gordon didn't order the pizza during his routine taste test, he still managed to get some, and it wasn't a pretty sight. While he was searching for tons of frozen and expired food, he came across a pile of 25 moldy

pizzas

, all piled up in a soggy, forgotten refrigerator, and it sent him into a furious spiral. Not the best first impression, let's leave it at that. Ramsay estimated that the restaurant had wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars on spoiled food.

With food standards so low, it's no wonder the restaurant was struggling. Despite Gordon's best efforts to help the restaurant, he eventually closed after returning to its original decor and menu. Nonna's Favorite or Gordon's Dislike When Gordon arrived at Anna Vincenzo's house in Boca Raton, he was pleasantly surprised. Not because of the pizza, but because of the decoration of the restaurant. The exterior looked relatively clean, well decorated and ready for service. But you know what they say: never judge a book by its cover. The restaurant's biggest problem was not its appearance, but the food itself. If the food is bad, the restaurant will suffer, there is no doubt.

Add in an opinionated chef who doesn't take criticism and you have a disaster time bomb. After eating some horrible appetizers and butting heads with the owner via the innocent waitress, Gordon finally tried the supposedly best pizza

served

at the restaurant, Nonna's Favorite, and let's just say it wasn't love at first bite. Gordon described it as completely dry, bland and boring, with a little soggy touch in the middle of the pizza. Even stranger, the pizza was topped with broccoli, one of the most universally hated vegetables. To which the owner responded with a friendly comment saying that Ramsay didn't know anything about pizza because he was British.

How about not accepting criticism, right? For Gordon, this pizza certainly wasn't the perfect Italian experience and the owner's smug and opinionated attitude didn't help the cause. Gordon tried to change this family restaurant, but to no avail. The only saving grace here is that no child will ever have to try to eat this broccoli pizza again! The World's Strangest Pizza In an attempt to fuse two incredibly popular 21st century dishes, Sushi Ko in California attempted to create a sushi pizza. The attempt wasn't exactly a resounding success, at least not according to Ramsay. The restaurant's specialty was no better than its other food fails: frozen salmon and late-night soup.
The waitress told Gordon that the dish was made of rice, mayonnaise, cheese, salmon and crab, which seemed like an interesting but unappetizing combination. Despite the waitress's warning, Gordon decided to order it anyway. Gordon took a bite of the plate and immediately spat it out and tore the napkin on top of it to hide his horror. He then strolled to the

kitchen

to express his displeasure with the disastrous pizza. After berating the owner and chef for not wearing hairnets in the

kitchen

, Gordon couldn't help himself and said that sushi pizza was a disgrace to both pizza and Japanese culture, potentially one of the harshest critiques ever given in the program.
However, Ramsay did everything he could to help the owners, but Sushi Ko ended up closing its doors. Too little and too late. However, they served one of the most memorable dishes Gordon has ever tasted! It's just not memorable in a good way.  Catastrophic Calzone When he visited the Pantalone restaurant in Denver Colorado, Gordon was served a wide variety of Italian "cuisine"; however, one of the least appetizing dishes had to be the Chef's Calzone. Pete's Calzone, named after head chef Pete, was easily one of the largest meals Gordon had ever been presented with. This calzone was practically an entire pizza folded in half!
After a few bad words were said about the appearance of this overstuffed calzone, Gordon took a bite and had nothing good to say about the taste either. With a mouthful of raw onions and frozen pepperoni, he declared it a horrible meal. The news reached the kitchen and Pete was not very happy with the news. With a dish this large, the most important thing is to make sure everything is cooked and hot. Crunchy on the outside and soggy on the inside isn't exactly the most appetizing flavor out there. Calzone is a classic pizzeria dish loved around the world;
However, Pete's Calzone at Pantalone's ended up being a huge disappointment in Gordon's eyes. Baked Potato Pizza Pie If a pizza arrives at the table and Gordon's immediate reaction is to say, "what's that?", then it doesn't bode well for the rest of the dining experience. One of the strangest pizzas he had ever seen, the loaded baked potato pizza at J.Willy's in Indiana, didn't set the bar high from the start. Gordon was so surprised by the strange-looking pizza that he asked the priest who was eating at the next table to bless his food. But, needless to say, God was not on his side when he took the first and last bite of this loaded pizza.
He likened ranch dressing to wallpaper paste and took it right back to where it came from. The layer of oil on the pizza didn't impress Gordon either. Overall, a very disappointing pizza, especially if you were looking for that spicy marinara sauce. But not. Instead, you get this. Wallpaper paste. MMM. It's always great when a restaurant wants to push the boundaries in terms of ingredients and recipe creativity; However, the quality also has to be up to par. J.Willy's failed to survive despite recipe improvements and closed a few months after Ramsay's visit. So, no more baked potato pizza, but maybe that's for the best.
Mama Maria's Monster Mess From the moment this pizza was placed on the table, you could already tell that it was one of the greasiest pizzas ever made. And from the moment Ramsay stood outside Mama Maria's Italian restaurant in Brooklyn, he already knew from its ramshackle appearance that this was going to be an interesting trip. And he was more than right. The staff and owner greeted Gordon's arrival not with a burst of enthusiasm, but with many awkward glances and snarky comments. Gordon hoped that the problem at this restaurant was the rude staff and not the food itself.
He was proven wrong after receiving and tasting food from him that looked frozen and doubly so after a quick walk around the kitchen. With moldy desserts on your plate, dirt and dust around the restaurant and an overly oily pizza, the unwelcoming staff was just the tip of the iceberg. Gordon sat and tried to figure out why the pizza was so greasy and oily. "How can a pizza contain so much fat?" It seemed to be a burning question on his mind. After thinking for a while, he realized that no one tasted the food before sending it to him, which is a critical step in any chef's process.
The employees nearly lost their cool after Ramsay told them that he had just had one of the most disgusting lunches of all time, insulting his cooking methods. After a somewhat hectic rush hour, Gordon came to the rescue of the 55-year-old Italian restaurant and redesigned the entire menu, removing everything frozen and creating new and exciting recipes. Thanks to Gordon's help, Mama Maria was able to turn around and no longer offers one of the greasiest pizzas Ramsay has ever had! Poor prosciutto pie While many of the restaurants listed here may share the same outrageous and horrible kitchen tidiness problems, this next contender has achieved it solely thanks to his distinguished pizza.
And, of course, the cheerful personality of the owners. While you may have seen Gordon wreak havoc on disgusting kitchens filled with mold, bacteria, and rotting food, the problem at Amy's Baking Company had little to do with kitchen quality control and everything to do with actual food. Although the owners relied heavily on the crispy crust of his pizza, Gordon disagreed when he was served the prosciutto pie. Not only was the crust nowhere near the promised standard, it was also completely undercooked and, in some bites, simply inedible. Gordon went on to express his comments to Amy, one of the owners, but to no avail.
She refused to accept her criticism and stated that, to her, there was nothing wrong with her pizza. Although you could clearly see the half-baked dough hanging in a puddle of grease. In addition to the cooking time issue, Gordon also noticed how strangely sweet the pizza tasted. Although a certain level of sweetness is desired in tomatoes, there is supposed to be some type of acidity to balance the flavor. Unfortunately, this pizza didn't fit the bill. The owners continued to defend his prized, disgusting pizza, and eventually Gordon had enough. He told them the pizza was raw, soggy, wet and too sweet, and after they yelled at him, he left, leaving the owners to fend for themselves.
Chaos and inedible pizzas were on the menu at this now-closed restaurant and if it's taught us anything it's this: if Gordon Ramsay tells you your pizza is bad, maybe it's a good idea to listen to him! Grocery Store Style When Gordon arrived at Charlie's Italian Bistro, he expected to meet Charlie himself. But it turned out that the owner of the restaurant was a woman named Tatiana. When the food was served to Gordon, he expressed that this was one of the

worst

Italian food experiences he had ever had. After eating some toasted raw ravioli along with a strange-looking pink lasagna, he was hopeful that pizza, an Italian staple, would redeem the menu.
But sadly, it was just as terrible as the rest of the meal. He even compared it to a store-bought frozen pizza, as it was undercooked, cold, and of very poor quality. And, curiously, no one except Tatiana and the head chef, Casimiro, seemed to disagree with him. After all, his comparison wasn't that far off, since he discovered tons and tons of food in freezers, including pizza dough. No wonder they tasted like frozen pizzas. Gordon pointed out that when it comes to pizza, more doesn't always mean better, a concept the head chef didn't seem to fully understand. Gordon introduces his chef, Jonathan, who stepped in and helped maintain the restaurant's new standards after Gordon left and the pizza became much more enjoyable after that.  The Colossal: A Pizza Nightmare The next pizza on the list is one of the largest pizzas Gordon has ever seen, and it is amazing to behold.
The name that the Capri restaurant gave this pizza monstrosity was truly appropriate as customers knew this beast as "The Colossal." This pizza was packed with almost every topping imaginable. Yes, it looks like it could be a fantastic pizza, loaded with flavor, but one look is enough to make your stomach turn, and this is exactly what happened to Gordon before he even took a bite. As he placed the endless ingredients on the raw pizza dough, it began to look more like a roasted vegetable salad than an actual pizza. Too many ingredients in this cake. The waitress even told Ramsay that the pizza had a little bit of everything except anchovies.
Gordon was not impressed, calling the pizza awful and awful. As Kitchen Nightmares continues to prove time and time again, the simplest recipes are almost always the best. The higher the cake, the harder they fall! After receiving help from Gordon, the owners improved their restaurant and its reputation for a time. But all good things must come to an end and Capri closed its doors in 2019, and the world said goodbye to The Colossal, without too many regrets.  The Best and Worst Pizza in Denver Remember Pantalone's in Denver, Colorado? Well, they have the honor of being another contender on this list and have even earned the number one spot!
Score! Considering the Calzone didn't set the bar high for any other dish, it should come as no surprise that their pizza didn't fare any better. It was covered in a large amount of grease due to the excessive amount of cheese and sausage. Gordon couldn't believe what he saw. The pizza, which was supposed to be thin crust, was easily one of the largest Gordon had ever seen. When Gordon saw how gigantic, doughy, and oily the pizza was, he said it was by no means the best in Denver, as he claimed.pride the owner. Due to the chef's stubbornness in admitting that his pizza was not good at all, Gordon conducted a taste test with 3 different pizzas with random people on the street.
Surprisingly, Pete's pizza came in last place, even behind a store-bought pizza. Oh. But eventually, with Gordon's help, the restaurant "revamped" itself a bit and began to regain its title of "Best Pizza in Denver."
