It has a motor. by a six-cylinder turbo diesel engine that makes around 260 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque and will top out at around 70 miles per hour, but what you're probably thinking is why Mercedes-Benz make a truck that outshines them all?

More Interesting Facts About,

this massive unimog u500 is the ultimate insane mercedes pickup truck...

American heavy-duty pickup truck that comes to mind, the answer is that in Germany it is a work vehicle. Unimogs are used for everything from agricultural implements to firefighting vehicles and military vehicles. All kinds of uses, basically any work purpose you can think of. Unimog can do it, so it is immensely capable and immensely huge and today I will review it first. I will take you on a tour of this Unimog and show you all the quirks and features of perhaps the craziest Mercedes. benz then I will take it out on the road and drive it and then I will give it a great score and don't forget to click on the link below to see the live auction of this unimog in cars and offers where I can buy the best truck okay .

I'm going to start with the quirks and features of this unimog going in. That means we have to talk about size. This is huge. I'm over six feet tall and the Unimog dwarfs me. It's a hell of a lot bigger than I am absolutely a gigantic vehicle that is really earning the title of

ultimate

pickup truck, at least in this configuration, it's huge and I say that as someone used to huge pickup trucks here in the US, but of anyway, come in and before I do that. I want to show you the key. Look at this.
this massive unimog u500 is the ultimate insane mercedes pickup truck
This is just a standard Mercedes-Benz key from this era, like the late 90's and early 2000's. I had this key on an E class I had a long time ago and now I'm going to be using it to start this huge vehicle giant, same goes for the door handles, these are just normal

mercedes

benz door handles, similar to commercial grade ones, like you would see on a sprinter or other commercial vans, and here they are on the unimog now that are. mounted incredibly low on the door for obvious reasons, if you put the door handles in the normal place you would have to reach very high up to reach them so they are mounted low here so you can easily grab the door handle and open the door to start your unimog experience, but anyway, next we get into the unimog and yes, this is the highest my camera will go and I guess I'll have to make this angle work, but anyway, next You are in the Unimog and although the door handle and key is a relatively normal Mercedes-Benz, nothing else here is even remotely normal, that becomes clear the moment you look around you will notice that there is a button with a rabbit and a donkey and that's when you know you're in.
It won't be a normal experience with this vehicle if you haven't figured it out yet, but I want to start with the door panel anyway. The first thing you notice on the door panel is that you have two large windows, you have this front window that basically goes floor to ceiling to make sure that you don't have any blind spots in the front when you're sitting in the seats, you have the Driver and passenger side, this big window now behind it you also have a pretty traditional regular window, so there are two windows. Now, on every front door, if you want to open the door from the inside, you have this red plastic latch.
You pull it, that's your door latch, it opens the door and then you push and walk out like a normal door. Next is another interesting element. the door panel has a giant circle in the middle of the door panel and in the center it has a hole which is for the window crank to manually roll down the windows but this is a luxury unimog and it has no windows with crank. It has power windows so you don't need them, so there's just a giant hole reminding you that you spent more money to get the best Unimog with luxury touches.
Now, the other thing you also see on that door is panoramic and you see cup holders there. There are two cupholders in each door panel. I guess the theory here is that you're out in the countryside, traversing your Unimog or whatever, you might not have access to water drinks for a long time, so you need plenty of places to put drinks. While you use your Unimog to work and then I want to go back to the windows for a second because when you walk in here one of the first things that catches your attention is how big the windows are that you have those two. the door panel I already showed you for maximum visibility, but the windshield is just huge on this vehicle, absolutely huge, you can see everything in front of you on all sides, you really have fantastic front and side visibility on the Unimog and of course you are sitting so high that you can also see above and beyond everything.
Now one interesting thing with the windshield is the windshield wipers. This is their standard setting when they are resting. You have one down in the center and one up on the passenger side. that's normal when you turn on the wipers that's how they work on the windshield, they go one after the other, the left one cleans the area in front of the driver and the right one in front of the passenger as usual, it's just that their configuration or their resting place is quite strange. Now, speaking of that wiper to the left of the steering column, it is relatively normal to use it to turn on the wipers, turn on the high beams, and turn on the turn signals.
There's nothing too strange about that except that at the end of the pedal you push it and that's where the horn is now, that was a pretty common thing on old trucks and old vehicles in general, but the funny thing is how the horn sounds. honk in the unimog, listen, ah yes, the powerful one. unimog and it's ridiculous, pipsqueak, so stupid it's not like

mercedes

didn't have other horns they could have used but didn't so that's next, moving on to the cylinder head that comes out the other side of the steering column Surprisingly, this is cruising. control this thing it has a cruise control system like I said it's a luxury unimog you can turn it on and cruise at huge speeds like 30 miles per hour.
Now this is so luxurious that in the center you can see that you even have climate control with air. By conditioning this little button on the bottom right with the snowflake, you press it and it turns on the air conditioning system, which is a nice feature on a commercial vehicle like this, although one thing I find a little funny is the dial temperature adjustment there. It's like 12 heat settings and only one cool setting, so they assume that you'll want to get hotter than you'll want to cool down when you're driving the unimog, I'm not really sure why that is, but it's kind of funny, but anyway.
So our next feature here above the windshield has sunshades, of course, and you have three of them, one for the driver's side, one for the passenger side and one for the middle. Three sun visors on your unimog, which is fantastic, although it actually makes sense when you think about it because there are three seats here, you have three front seats, two passenger seats and then a driver's seat in the front of this unimog, so that three crossover seats are like the front seat in a pickup truck, although you still have a center console here in addition to three seats, that's how big it is, but you also have the three sun visors that go with it.
Next, speaking of the seats, one interesting thing with the driver's seat. is that he has a kind of suspension system of his own. You can see this accordion style piece under the seat that goes up and down to give you a comfortable ride based on your weight, so you can see if I stand up a little. The seat actually rises to try to stay in its neutral position. If I sit back down the seat goes down with me and then when you go over the bumps the seat also goes up or down to make it more comfortable here.
It's sort of adding a second suspension system to the vehicle's already existing suspension for a more comfortable ride, but anyway, next we move on to some of the craziest things about this Unimog and some of them are in this center console , you have this big switch panel. somewhat randomly arranged, there are blank spaces and switches in no discernible order, now some of these are quite obvious for what they do, for example this is the power window switch, as I showed you before, it says power windows , pushes it up or down on the driver and passenger side to make it spin.
With the windows up or down, you also have the hazard light switch here, which makes sense, and then this dial at the top is the differential lock and you can see that you have three different options: the center differential or the center and rear, or you can lock all three. differentials at once, making this a pretty capable off-road vehicle, not many cars have a triple locking differential now, as for the other buttons, I guess with some of them, and then there are some that don't I have idea. I guess the rabbit and the donkey relates to gears and transportation.
If you press the rabbit, you're probably unloaded, you want to go fast and maybe that will change something with the gearing. If you press the donkey, you are probably loaded with things and then maybe. The car changes its drivetrain to adapt to its load. I guess that's what it does next: change at the bottom. You can see a small circle and then an arrow pointing up and then at the bottom a small circle and an arrow pointing down, I think. It is for the central tire inflation system, this vehicle has air lines that go to each tire, so you can add air or deflate the tires automatically using this button without having to leave the vehicle.
Now if you drive off road you know this is very important as you normally have to deflate your tires so if you go over rocks you won't get a flat tire but being out there and deflating every tire takes forever. It does this automatically with this switch that you simply press and then it deflates. again and then it inflates when you're done riding off-road you're ready to drive on pavement which is an amazing feature not many vehicles now have another switch here it's marked abs off-road and then under that off-road road is crossed out I assume this changes the features of the anti-lock braking system, whether you are on or off road, you may not want that feature active if you are off-road for various reasons, so you can disable it .
I really have no idea about the rest of these things. In the upper right corner you have a start and stop switch. I guess it's some kind of main power switch, but then you have this like a light with a beacon. I pressed it, nothing happened. You also have this. button that looks like a tire hanging on a pole looks like a tetherball game I pressed it again nothing happened I don't really know what it does and I'm not really sure what the rest of these things do, but that's a general tour of the control console unimog central now you may be wondering some of these buttons, why don't you look them up in your owner's manual?
The answer is that I don't have any on hand, although they exist in these vehicles. They were sold new in North America in the mid-2000s and so presumably there are owners manuals in English, although obviously the vast majority of literature and information online is in German so it's a bit difficult understand what some of these things do, but in my opinion, the function of those buttons, I don't know, doesn't really matter much because it's certainly not the craziest thing about this Unimog that the honor goes to the things in the center console, you can see that there is a large group of things. here and I'm going to show you what they do.
They are very strange. Now I want to start with the transmission. If you look at the driver's floor, you can see there are three pedals in this truck, a clutch to breakthe accelerator pedal. standard, but you look in the middle and see that there is no manual shift lever. You have a joystick here that I'll get to in a moment, but that's not the shifter. The only thing that looks like a transmission that you have is this little lever and that is actually your shifter this vehicle has a preselector transmission and what that means is that while you are driving you preselect the next gear and then the vehicle will shift into it that's how it works in practice when you start the unimog in which you are in neutral to put it in gear, you push the clutch down and then you push this lever forward and you have engaged second, the truck always starts in second because the first gear is a slow gear for tow or pull, but anyway you put it in second gear and then you let the clutch out and the truck starts rolling and then you step on the gas and you drive normally until you need to shift up and then you press the gear selector forward again and you can see that the third gear now flashes on the display, then you push the clutch it goes back into third gear and then continues shifting to fourth in the same way, you push the selector forward, the fourth gear starts flashing to let you know that the truck is ready to go. shift into fourth, then press the clutch and shift into fourth, then continue now, this is an obsolete transmission, older vehicles used it as an upgrade to a traditional manual because you didn't have to master the gear shift and press the clutch at the same time time, as the vehicle preselected the next When you pressed the clutch, you didn't have to do the work of your hands or feet, but it was obviously replaced by the automatic transmission, which makes it much easier, but the Unimog doesn't have That, now you may be wondering.
How do you switch back to neutral? All you have to do is press the little button at the end of the gear selector and then the truck returns to neutral. What do you do if you want to park it or if you are approaching a traffic light as far as going into reverse, when you are stopped you pull the gear lever down which engages reverse and then within a second you release the clutch and the truck starts to go. Reverse relatively simple, takes a little getting used to, now one is worth pointing out. The big benefit of this transmission is that you can't miss a shift like you would in a traditional manual;
It won't, there are controls that prevent it from shifting if the motor speed is not correct, so if you preselect the next one and the motor speed then drops and it's not ready to shift, it will click on you to tell you no, it won't. , I still can't shift, sorry, so it can't damage the transmission, which is another benefit. a normal manual now, since I'm talking about transmission, I also want to talk about the gauge cluster and I'm going to start with the tachometer, which has some useful tips that make it easier to determine when to shift now, for one, this tachometer .
I can see that the redline is like 2600 rpm, which is not something you see in most manual vehicles, but with a diesel engine like this it is relatively common, especially in commercial work vehicles, but what is interesting is the colors just below the tachometer, you can see this top part. green band which is when you are supposed to preselect the next gear next to the one you have yellow, that is when you are supposed to press the clutch and actually shift into the next gear to engage it and if you go according to the colors on your tachometer, You will do a good job of driving this vehicle even with its rather strange preselect transmission.
Now there are two other notable things about this gauge cluster, for example, the speedometer on the left only goes up to 75 miles per hour, that's all. you'll need that's about the top speed of this truck it doesn't go very fast next up to the right of the gauge cluster there are two gauges that show psi measuring air pressure these are for the air brakes this truck doesn't Instead, it has traditional brakes, like most commercial vehicles, it has air brakes and those gauges let you know the air pressure in your air brakes so you can make sure your air brakes are working before you set out on your trips, but anyway, our next interesting article on On the center console, you can see that there is a yellow diamond and a red octagon.
The red octagon allows you to supply air to your trailer's air brake if you are towing a trailer that has air brakes. The yellow diamond is your traditional standard parking brake so you can put the parking brake on, you pull the diamond and then the parking brake comes on, if you want it to go off you push it down and then the parking brake releases. It's a very different air brake than a traditional car handbrake, but it works. relatively the same once you know how to use it now surprisingly next to that you have the headlight control and it's just a standard mercedes-benz headlight control.
I have the same one on my g-wagon and it's the same deal with the next little outlet. so you'll get a little familiar with it and I have to say it's nice, this is a pretty intimidating set of buttons and switches and controls so it's cool to see something, well I know what it is, at least I can do it. turn on the headlights on this vehicle, but by far the best set of controls. What I like most about this unimog is here, in the center, the joystick and all the controls around it. Now I'm not going to pretend I know what each of them does.
These things do, but I know the most important thing they do and that would be to lift the bed of the dump truck, that's right, this is not just a pickup truck, it's also a dump truck, so to make that happen, press this little circular button next to the Mercedes. -The Benz logo activates this entire panel and then you just pull the joystick back and you can see the dump truck bed start to tip over. This is not just a standard truck. I told you it was the best truck and now you can see. the dump truck that lifts up and lifts back and it's a dump truck, you control everything with the joystick here like in a video game and I love that obviously it's pretty slow in operation, you have to be careful, but it works. a dump truck, but the fact that it's a dump truck isn't the best thing about this bed.
The best thing is that this bed will tilt in any direction you want if you move this little pin. There are four holes here, all on the side. the bed and depending on where you put these little pins that is the direction it leans and yes that means what you think if you put two of these pins on the same side it will lean sideways just look at this, Look at this, it's a dumpster that leans sideways. truck again, I told you this was the best truck if you weren't sold on the size or the central tire inflation system or the three visors.
Well, I hope you are now okay with a sideways tilting box, this is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. I've ever seen it and, frankly, one of the most ridiculous and totally unrealistic ones, but the box does a lot more than just tilt and tilt to the side; It can also carry things like a normal pickup bed, but that presents a bit of a problem because if you carry things in the back of your Unimog, how do you access it? For example, how do you get your stuff out of the bed of this vehicle?
Luckily there is a little fix to get the tailgate to close of course, just pull these little pins on the side and then you can release the tailgate and once you've done that as you can see there's a little ladder built in. at the back door, you can take it out and then climb the ladder to get into bed, which is a pretty easy way to do it I guess, although you're still like five feet off the ground, which makes it a little challenging, but next Interesting element with the bed is not just the tailgate. can go down, you also have latches on the side of the bed and if you pull them right the side of the bed can go down too and the benefit here is obvious you now have a platform that you put on the other side and you have a full platform in case If you want to carry something that requires a flatbed now, this particular Unimog has a tire mounted back here on this giant custom spare tire rack, this tire is huge, the tires on this truck are incredibly monster truck commercial vehicle tires. big and The idea of lowering this tire is kind of funny, if you had a flat tire and you could somehow get the tire off the vehicle on the side of the road to change it then you would still be stuck because there is no way.
You're lifting this huge, heavy tire off this platform that's like five feet up. It's an incredibly cumbersome process just to change a tire, but here's a spare tire just in case because, after all, prevention is better than cure. but then, as you can imagine, there are still quite a few interesting quirks and features to discuss, included here. I'm going to start by folding this tailgate. It's worth noting that these folding box sides are also useful if you actually use this as a dump truck, you fill it with stuff and then tilt it back or to the side, you can fold the side down so things fall out like if you were in a dump truck, but anyway you put this back in place and then you push these latches to lock it in place one on each side and then the tailgate is now in this position and it's locked once again and when is up here reveals some interesting things below, specifically these little circles on the left.
Covered by these plastic covers are electrical connections, so you are in the field with your Unimog and want to power some tool. You can connect it to your Unimog and power it that way instead of having to try to find some electrical connection. your property is thousands of acres very far from anything your unimog is your tool feeding system which of course is pretty cool and there are also some interesting items worth mentioning here once again fold the side of the bed, oh, secure it in place quite easily. and again it reveals some interesting elements specifically the wheel and I mentioned the wheel because it has an airline attached to it.
You can see here this little line is part of the central tire inflation system that I showed you before where you can add air. or remove the air by pressing a button on the inside instead of having to sit here and turn the air down manually. Now this right rear wheel actually doesn't have the airline, I'm told it's the only one where the CTI system doesn't work. that line is not connected, but otherwise has it so you can vent up and down for off-road adventures. Now the other interesting thing back here is the fuel tank, an absolutely huge diesel fuel tank, 60 gallons that will be needed.
It's an incredible amount, a huge amount of fuel in this vehicle, of course it's going to be very expensive to fill it up and you've got this giant fuel tank right here so you can fill it up and drive and drive and drive in your unimog. Now, next, two other things. I want to cover this area before we move to the back seat and show you what's behind it. One is the ground clearance that you can see is pretty exceptional because, frankly, I'm here and I'm pretty comfortable. I could lie down here. sleep, read for a while, there is a lot of space and the reason is that it has portal axles, which means that the axles are not mounted directly in the center of the wheel and tire, but are higher up, they use a gear system which allows them to sit like six inches or even a foot higher and that provides better ground clearance and it's pretty impressive, you can see that the axle meets the wheel higher than the center.
It's strange to see but some serious off road vehicles have this like hummers and the mercedes g-wagon square 4x4 and of course the unimog would have it too and then something I personally find funny. This vehicle is registered here in the great state of Massachusetts. You can see it's a beautiful day. the cape and this car has the protection and service plate to honor law enforcement officers. Now there are two types of people who get this badge. 10 percent are actual law enforcement officers. 90 are people with BMW M4s who want to avoid receiving a fine. They think this landslide will help them but it's funny to see it in the unimog because there is absolutely no way to get a speeding ticket in one of these but maybe the owner was hoping for a different kind of leniency from the police officer . an officer would give you a break if he saw that license plate and saw the owner driving through a public park or over a housing development, but anyway, next I want to show you the back seats first, let's talk about engine access, you might be wondering where is the engine.
It's because this thing is quite flat in the front and the answer is that it's mounted under the cabin in order to access the engine, you have to tilt the entire cabin forward, back and forth and only then can you access the engine, which makes it maybe a little difficult to work on, although at least it's easy enough to climb underneath. Speaking of access, the Unimog is also a little difficult to get into. You can see that there are stairs and not just a small running board like on a van. three individual stairs to get in and, frankly, you need them because the floor inside almost reaches to the top of my chest, almost to my neck, so to get in you hold on to an inside piece and then go up the three stairs. and then, ah, you're sitting in the back, so let's talk about the back seat.
The first thing you notice when you get in here is that it's not much, in fact the back seat is quite sparse. I told you it was a luxury Unimog, but it's not very luxurious. Unimog such a thing does not really exist, ultimately it remains a heavy commercial vehicle. You should feel lucky to have a back seat and in fact this unimog was not built this way as I mentioned, it started life as a single cab vehicle with only the first row of seats, the second row and the rear doors, it They were added later, which is quite common for Unimogs, many times they are changed and reconfigured for whatever purpose the owner needs such as a tow vehicle or fire truck. or a military vehicle so it's pretty common to add, remove and subtract things on top and this is a crew cab truck but anyway like I said there's not much to these back seats although there are some interesting quirks for one thing, four seats back, just everyone. side by side, so you have three seats in the front, four in the back, this is a seven seater in just two rows of seats, you won't find it very commonly, but although there are four rear seats here, no They are exactly the most comfortable rear seats on the one hand they have no backrest they are just the lower seats if you want to rest your back you have to lean on it like in the back of the cabin that is all the comfort you get and this is not exactly great safety, either There are seat belts back here, not just lap belts, there is nothing, zero seat belts for the back seat, so you are on the road and you have to hope.
It's okay, although you can share your concerns with the driver because there is a window between the front cabin and the rear cabin and you can open it and talk to the driver. This is not just one large passenger compartment, it is two different cabins, front and rear. with a giant sliding window between them now, interestingly, there is no window behind the rear seats, none, so you can't see behind you in this vehicle through a rear window anyway and, in fact, if you are in the front and you look in the front window there is a little a rear window considering I put a sliding window between the front and rear seats, but hey, that's the central peculiarity of the Unimog.
Now, curiously, a luxury touchback. Here you have two different types of interior lights in the rear, you have a kind of general rear ambient light and then you have a more focused reading light, so you can turn that on if you want to read the New York Times while getting burned in your unimog. Good to see they have a reading light. One thing you don't get here are power windows. you have crank windows in the rear, you just have to manually raise and lower them yourself power windows on the front windows with crank in the rear, that means the unimog is only the second car I've reviewed that has that feature after the dodge neon srt4 and that's the only thing they have in common and finally I want to move on to the front of this unimog to go over some interesting quirks up here, on the one hand, this color is not the standard, like the black or white of a commercial vehicle, Instead, this is Mercedes. -Benz designio platinum a high-end color that matches the luxury unimog, it has a very attractive look, this color is very eye-catching and certainly looks more exclusive than a normal boring traditional color.
Now there are some interesting elements worth highlighting, the front one is the location. From the headlights you can see that they are all the way down here, even though this vehicle is so big, the headlights are very low and I think the theory is to keep the headlights low, like the headlights of a car would be, so that they don't. Blind car drivers when they drive, if the headlights were up here, they would be right in the rear view mirrors of the cars, so they mount the headlights lower to level them out and make them more compatible on normal roads, another interesting thing.
Up here you can see that you have the same connections in the front for electrical power that you had in the back, on the side you can see four different outlets basically where you can connect the power and then you can power your tools again, use your unimog as a power source if you are on your large property and don't have access to real electricity. The other thing worth mentioning is that this vehicle looks ridiculous, absurd, crazy, people keep looking at me and coming up to me and saying what it is. This thing is one of the craziest looking vehicles you'll ever see operated on the road, so now I'm going to drive it.
Interestingly, you don't need a commercial driver's license for this, it's not big or heavy enough. I can just drive it as usual, which seems crazy, but I'm not going to turn it down. It's time to go drive the Unimog. Let's do it right, driving the Unimog. I have committed secondly. I'm moving this huge, huge, ridiculous. vehicle slowly but surely, the first thing you realize when you sit here is a total behemoth, incredibly unbelievable size for the road, just crazy and the visibility is incredible, it's like you're in a fish tank, I mean , you can see everything on the planet in front of you and you are sitting so high that you can see double everything in front of you.
The nice thing about this transmission is that you can't engage the clutch and you can't miss a shift, but it takes a little getting used to. second and I'm leaving and I feel terrible for anyone behind me because it's slow I can't believe what I'm driving this is crazy I'm driving a unimog a new modern use this is crazy okay you have to remember it to change it now you hear clicking, that's because I didn't like it, I did something wrong, what happened was I tried to shift into the next gear, but my engine speed was too low for that.
The thing about this car is that you pretty much do it. always driving in at least six gears, six gears starts around 20 miles per hour so you have to go and you have to go through the gear sequentially so you have to go one, two, three, four, five, six. Now, driving this thing, I mean, it's just terrifying and I. I'll tell you another thing with air brakes: they're not like normal brakes. You have to know what you're doing a little better and I really don't, but I have to tell you that I actually like the driving experience. once you get into the concept of gear preselection it starts to make some sense and you start to get into it, if you really mess up the gear, which happens quite often, it actually puts you back into neutral, which brilliant.
It's even though with the clicking sound it sounds like you just destroyed the transmission that it's basically there to tell you no you can't go through that gear, sorry, and it's a lock to prevent it from staying secure, basically, so Anyway, we're not spoiling anything, so let's talk about the driving experience, going beyond the gear shift situation, you sit incredibly high, you're basically at eye level with vehicles like dump trucks and huge crazy giant commercial vehicles. um, you know, people get paid to drive them. They have a commercial driver's license, that kind of thing, the only difference here is that you don't need it, but you probably shouldn't have it, given how huge it is.
One of the craziest things for me is how much attention this gets, it's amazing how many people have come up to me and wanted to talk about it, they wanted to see it and I'm filming this video in New England, which is not a place where people tend to talk. other people keep to themselves and yet people just couldn't stop, they were so curious. What is this thing? How is? It's a Mercedes-Benz. How can that be? Now I want to emphasize that this thing is slow, really very slow. incredibly slow I mean it's a large commercial vehicle that tops out at around 70 miles per hour I think the gear limit said like 67 69 somewhere around there are eight four gears so it has an eight gear transmission speeds, but you don't really end up using I mean, in the city I'm in seventh place right now at 30.
Just sitting here, I mean, you really feel like you're driving a big commercial truck. I reviewed the Ford uh F650 last year and it was crazy too, but this is on a different level, for starters, it totally looks more intimidating, it's cartoonish looking, this thing looks more serious, more aggressive, more angry, um, just , most categorically ridiculous, frankly, I actually enjoy driving it, it seems like a cool vehicle, it's just huge and kind of absurd and you can't see out the back and I mean, you really have to think and plan and you can't get in front of anyone.
It's like driving a truck with a turning circle. Kind of a disaster, turning in general is a disaster, you're fighting physics and you really are, and then braking is a challenge because they're air brakes, they're not traditional brakes, so you can't just put your foot down. on the brake, yes there is a technique, if you do it it will stop very quickly, you have to keep going and you get used to it after a while, honestly this is one of the most absurd vehicles I have ever driven. the channel everything about this is crazy the fact that it's a dump truck the fact that it's a unimog an incredibly ridiculous unimog I mean you see the older ones but the newer ones like this are rare and this is just a special vehicle Absolutely absurd and one of the craziest cars I've ever driven anywhere and that's the Unimog one of the craziest pickup trucks ever the ultimate workhorse Mercedes-Benz a vehicle that makes American pickup trucks look silly in comparison this It is really amazing and I am delighted that I had the opportunity to review it and now it is time to give this unimog an excellent score, starting with the weekend categories and the styling of the unimog is not beautiful, but it is cool, eye-catching and Pretty perfect for what it is, many commercial vehicles don't have much. style but this guy does it and gets six out of ten acceleration, can barely go 60 miles per hour and gets one out of ten handling is bad, not only is it not good but it has

active body roll and endless

ness, and it's just bad. and it gets a very rare one out of 10.
The fun factor is pretty high, it's fun to drive but most of all it's fun to own and the off-road capabilities here are very impressive. It gets a six out of ten. The cool factor is absolutely huge. It attracts attention everywhere and no one has ever seen anything like it. It earns a 9 out of 10 for a total weekend score of 23 out of 50. Following are the daily categories and features. It has some good things, like a dump truck bed, but. no radio for example, it's a bit of a mixed bag, gets a three out of 10. comfort is okay, not great and gets a 4 out of 10. quality seems high, this truck is radically overbuilt so it will probably work for always, but the interior quality is mediocre and gets a 6 out of 10.
Practicality is low, it seats 7 people and can go anywhere, but it can't really go anywhere because you can't put it in a garage nor park in normal mode. space so it's more impractical than you might think and ultimately gets a three out of ten value and this will make you a lot of money on cars and deals up to six figures but it would cost you a lot more to convert a different unimog yourself. With the extra crew cab and plus a few hundred grand for the best truck, it gets a 7 out of 10 for a total daily score of 23 out of 50.
Add it up and Doug's score is 46 out of 100, which puts it here. vs other ridiculous trucks and suvs i've tested, its closest competitors are the ford f-650, which the unimog easily beats because it's so much more capable and exciting, plus the mercedes g63 6x6, which easily beats the unimog because the g is much better designed for normal life but it also costs a million dollars and the unimog is more capable and turns a lot more heads for a lot less money, it's just slower, a lot slower, okay let's focus
