The Best Guitar for Each Genre (Is NOT What You Think)

Jun 06, 2021
I want to talk about this never-ending trend I see in the

guitar

community. I

think

it's mostly among the beginner and intermediate crowd, but I

think

generally everyone is a little bit interested in

what

others have to say on the topic of

what

the

guitar

does. I need a great blues tone or what guitar do I need for a nice crunchy funk tone or a smooth jazz tone or an epic metal tone what guitar do I need and the answers are exactly what you expect, well you need a Telecaster for your country. You need a Stratocaster or Les Paul for blues, you need a hollow body for jazz, and generally I think those are smart answers if you're looking for status quo, but I also think they can be limiting answers, so here's my

genre

"no taking guitar is the same" and I'm going to show that for you the musical

genre

is not based on a guitar tone or a drum tone or anything like that, it is based on the actual musical structure.

You can add whatever you want to the formula if the musical structure is correct. the tools will simply be alternative colors that the listener may be accustomed to, but you will certainly be able to identify the genre in question and a perfect example would be a genre that I have already alluded to, the country genre that everyone is going to tell you about. You need a telecaster for country and as someone who lives in Nashville it's a little blasphemous to say no, you don't need a tele for country. What is it about television that makes it so country-friendly and so conducive to those vibrant and vibrant people?

More Interesting Facts About,

the best guitar for each genre is not what you think...

It sounds good, when you think about it, it's the pickups, it's the tea style, maybe the way the neck and body work together. You know, sometimes TVs have thinner masts and that kind of higher-pitched, snappier sound that's very conducive to chicken-pecking, any other slang in the country. you want to use but you can achieve that same feeling with the exact opposite guitar now, what guitar would that be? What is the last guitar someone would recommend for country gibson sg? Do it, as you heard there, I achieved TV stuff by playing closer to the bridge so it had a bit more snappy sound, I actually turned up the treble on the amp I was using which was a Fender Princeton reverb and also had a bit of delay of slapback in my tone, in general I played country licks, I used the bending of the body on the neck to arch and create that vibrato bar sound at the end, there I used the jimmy page vibrato on the outside of the nut to move the G string, kind of like a G bender, if you will, if you were just listening to that. music and not seeing what guitar he was playing, did you really care that it wasn't a television?

I don't know if the layman would believe it. I think our experiment is proving to be useful. Let's move on to a different genre. I'm sorry. hunched over i feel like i'm in frankenstein's laboratory performing experiments i need to have a better posture to move forward let's talk about metal metal metal this is the kind of music that favors humbuckers everyone will say well you need a big fat sound you need something make it hot and aggressive, but you know what the hottest aggressive sound I can think of is they're not humbuckers. Humbuckers are warm and round and you know they can be aggressive if you have the right style of pick attack, but a much harsher sound in a good way if you do it right is the sound of a single coil.
the best guitar for each genre is not what you think
The last guitar anyone would recommend for metal is probably a Strat style guitar and you know a really famous Strat style guitar that isn't known for being. used for metal, a silver sky, oh I mean, that's an epic tone that cuts, but there was an obscene tone and that had to do with the single coils that sounded so clear and aggressive that it didn't necessarily have the low end of the humbuckers. but I'd rather have a little more clarity than a little more bass, especially in a mix like that, that's what we're talking about here, the general context is the context of a recording, these guitars are interchangeable, there's no right and wrong. answer and I think we've proven once again that by using a single coil style guitar with a genre that generally requires humbuckers and going back to the telecaster anyway, that guitar is famous for being amazing for metal because it actually has a punch in the lower end and I can think of several unique Telecasters that are used by musicians in the metal and rock genres, so let's move on to another genre that has a very specific type of guitar associated with it.
Jazz. You like jazz. I like it. jazz and when you think about jazz again, we're framing this from the perspective of maybe an intermediate beginner guitarist, they'll think of a big hollow body guitar, something like that, a guitar that would make sense if it were seen in a 1939 picture. and I love the sound of big hollow body guitars, I would say they have a very specific and nostalgic sound, so let's take exactly the opposite approach, let's take the guitar with the most modern sound and look. I have a prs custom 24 with a floyd rose bridge and pickups that would make your mother cry, so I think that example is the reason why you shouldn't limit yourself to what is called the traditional guitar for one genre because any body guitar hollow will not have a hit bar to To create maybe a new sound, you don't necessarily have to be restricted and I'm not saying that you shouldn't look for these classic guitars and just have the sound for whatever genre you choose, but I'm also saying that you don't.
Be afraid to experiment and never feel like you have to do something to get a sound because in the end the tone is in your fingers and you know all the effects around it to enhance what you're looking for. I think we have finished the experiment. I think we have proven the hypothesis that guitar does not equal gender. Let me know in the comments what you think about this whole topic. Thanks for watching and until next time.
