as a two-time Masters

. Can you describe your emotions as you hit your last putt today, um, yeah, I'm glad I lowered my stroke average, my putting average, to 18, that was good, um, you know, five strokes, two and a half is my average, that's not bad, um, no, it's difficult. Put into words how special this is. It's been a long week, a tough week, the golf course was very challenging and to be sitting here wearing this

jacket

again and taking it home is extremely special.

I'm glad I'm sitting here now, joh goty, congratulations. Your rivals will be waiting for you to take your eye off the ball at some point. By the time the next major comes around in a month you will have a baby in your arms, what are the chances that you think you will take your eyes off the ball? Well, I'm definitely not going to intentionally take my eyes off the ball. Um, tonight I'm going home soaked in this

victory

. I will definitely enjoy the birth of my first child, but that being said, you know, I still love to compete.

My priorities will change here very soon. You know, my son or my daughter will do it. Now it will be the main priority along with my wife. So golf will now be, you know, probably fourth in line. But I still love to compete. I don't plan on taking the ball off anytime soon, that's for sure. Doug, buy, what do you think? The most important shot you made today, the most important shot, I would say the best drive I had today at Turner was the birdie putt on the eighth. I hit two really good shots along the

green

.

I had an extremely difficult pitch that I made. up there, you know, 10 or 12 feet from the cup and it was a challenging read because it turned early and it was very straight at the end, so it was a putt that you really had to start in line and, you know, I hope it holds . line and you know I put that one in and then, you know, it gave me a good boost and I used it for birie n and 10 and, you know, I kept pushing because I knew there were birdies in the back. nine I had a lot of really talented players trying to chase me and I knew the peers weren't going to make it.
Can you explain the difference in how it feels emotionally between four putting the last green and one putting one? putting is a lot easier um yeah, I tried not to let my emotions get the best of me this time um I kept my head down I don't even, I don't even think, I took off my hat and waved to the crowd when I was coming up 18 I I I did my best that I was able to to stay in the moment I wanted to finish the tournament the right way um and I was able to soak in there after one putt instead of four, which was a little bit, a little bit better.
Chris Scotty Colin was talking about how much farther you were than him on a couple of holes and how you know that's a huge advantage, I mean, you see it as a huge mental advantage when you know a couple hundred yards or 50 hundred. yards ahead of Colin, I mean, I don't know if I was that far ahead 50 yards 30 yards col may have exaggerated a little bit, but yeah, I handled the ball really well this week, I was hitting it hard, today was a day where I was able to swing freely and around this spot, I mean distances.
Distance is very important on this golf course. The fairways are quite wide and when the greens are this firm, you need to have short clubs to get onto these greens, especially with the small ones. There are areas where they put the pins, so I would say I swung a little harder this week than at a normal PJ Tour event just because there's a little more space outside of the tea, at a regular tour stop or in the US Open or something, my tee height may be a little lower and I may be hitting more different types of shots, but a lot of the drives I hit this week were hit high and hard, that's all, man. congratulations Scotty, I know you said you basically kept your head down all day, but at some point you allowed yourself to enjoy the advantage, you enjoyed the advantage, you didn't, um, I think like any human, your mind starts to wander a little bit. on the golf course when we were there, you know, four or five hours straight, you gotta let your mind wander um I tried to soak in the things around me today I looked up at the trees sometimes I looked up at the fans every once in a while and I tried to absorb some of his energy, you know, but I never let myself get attached to the lead, I just try to keep pushing, I mean, I think if I had played a little bit defensively, it would have been a significantly different ending, you know, I went for the green and two on the 13th I was able to make birdie.
I attacked the flag on 14 and was able to make birdie. I tried again on 15. I was able to make a good par and made a really good shot. there on 16 to make birdie and then, you know, if I was just trying to play for pars the back nine, I would have been standing there on 18 having to make par um and waiting for Ludvig to just make par um and like this in this golf. Of course, you have to stay aggressive, you have to make the right shots, there's no way, there's no way around it here, you can't play too defensive and you can't play too aggressive, you just have to make the right shots and, um , fortunately.
I was able to do that today Sean Martin um you constantly say that your identity is not in your golf scores um what is it about winning and competing so that you find satisfying? You know it's a very good question. I was sitting with my friends, this morning I was a little overwhelmed because I told him that I would like to not want to earn as much or as much as I do. I think it would make mornings easier, but I love winning. I hate losing, I really do, and when you're here in the most important moments, when I'm sitting with a lead on Sunday, I really want to win, and I told myself this morning, you know my victory was certain on the cross. and that is a very special feeling to know that I am safe forever and it doesn't matter, you know whether or not I win this tournament or if I lose it, you know that my identity is safe forever James Scotty I wonder what you learned about leading on this golf course of your previous Masters in this one.
I think it is a difficult golf course to close out a victory. I mean, like I said, you can't play too much defense. 12 is a good example of a hole where if you play too defensive like where the pin is today, you try to hit it right over that bunker, right there in the middle of the green, and if you pull it to the right, it goes away. Also, you can see Max at home in the group in front of us, maybe he gave it a touch and flies into the bushes for a long time. I mean, I've hit the bushes there several times, um, so you can't just sit there and If you play too defensive, you have to play in the right spot and hit really good golf shots, um, and today I did the best I could and luckily I was able to hit some really key shots and make some good birdies on the back end. nine um really from eight on I just played very, very good golf Andy uh, you were talking about your faith Scotty, could you tell us a little bit about how much comes to mind when you're on the course?
It helps you deal with the kind of visits from the wind and things like that. Yeah, I mean, I think today's plans were already made, you know, many years ago and I couldn't do anything to ruin those plans, you know? I've been given a gift of this talent and I use it for the glory of God, that's all, so when I'm out there I try to compete the best I can, like I said, I really want to win. I feel like that's how I was designed. I've been like this since I was a kid. That's always been a part of me and I don't think it should go away anytime soon and I don't think there's anything wrong. with that either, but at the end of the day, like I said, my identity is already secure and I can go out here and compete, have fun, enjoy it and then at the end of the day, win or lose my identity, secure Kyle, how much do you want? struggle with just the idea of discontent or needing more wins, more money, more fame to be satisfied and when are you most content, my goodness, that's a good question.
I feel like playing professional golf is an endlessly unsatisfying career. For example, in my head the only thing I can think about now is getting home. I'm not thinking about the tournament. I'm not thinking about the green jacket. I'm trying to answer your questions. I'm trying to get home. Um, I wish. I wish I could take this in a little more, maybe I will tonight when I get home, but at the end of the day I think that's what the human heart always wants most and I think you have to fight those things and focus on what It's good because like I said, winning this golf tournament doesn't change my identity, my identity is secure and I can't emphasize it enough, Kev, you mentioned that you know your life is going to change next, what are you most looking forward to?
Being a dad, I'm looking forward to the next couple of weeks, hopefully getting some sleep and then, you know, a couple of months where you probably don't sleep at all, no, but I mean, I'm excited. I think it's funny when you get married. People tend to make jokes like, oh your life is over, yeah, yeah, my friends were always really excited about me getting married, but some people get upset and just make jokes and stuff like that when it comes to having a child. He says it changes your life and it's the most special thing in the world, so I can't.
Marriage has been such a tremendous aspect of my life that I can't even imagine what it will be like to be a father. Brian and Scotty, it sounds like you're in complete control right now of your game in the zone, whatever it is, how do you feel out there and do you feel like you're playing your best golf right now? I feel like I'm playing really good golf right now, um, I feel like I'm in control of my emotions like I've always been, which is a good place to be. I feel like I'm maturing as a person on the golf course, which is a good place to be, I think.
It is difficult to argue with the results of the last few weeks. I've been playing some really good golf, but I really try not to focus too much on the past. I'm going to go home and reflect on this week and immerse myself in it. The best I can, but you know, like I said, it's not a very satisfying sport because I'm supposed to play again on Thursday, so um, let's get back to the Grind pretty quickly. Adam Scotty, was there anything Meredith said to you this morning? That helped you and on your way to victory today, she just asked me how she could pray for me and I actually didn't get to talk to her for long this morning, which was unusual, but you know, she sent a lot of prayers.
Her neck was bothering me a little bit, so you prayed for some healing and, you know, you just prayed for her to have a lot of peace out there. I had a good conversation with my friends who were here this morning about Victory and that Victory. they're being safe um so yeah yeah it was a longer morning than anticipated this year but I would say it wasn't as long as a couple of years ago but it was still a long morning and the only time this week that your neck bothered you this morning, yes, I think it was.
I think when you get stressed, I think your body just reacts, whether it's a stomach ache or whether your body starts to hurt. I think my body was just reacting to the stress and, um, yeah. that's all Ryan scti, can you explain to us the decision that you and Randy made to hire Phil Kenyan and what that meant to you at the time and what it means now after East Lake last year came home in the plane and um sitting? There, talking to Blake and I, we looked at each other and I think we were both thinking the same thing and we both looked at each other.
I thought, you know, I think I want to see a putting coach and Blake goes. I think it's a good idea let's talk to Randy um and I had seen Phil before I saw him Coach players and I think when you're here for as long as I just see things and I loved the way Phil coached his players you know , you look at a guy like Fitzy who lines up a lot of his putts and uses a putter that has a lot of swing and then you look at a guy like Keegan Bradley, who Phil also teaches who doesn't use a line on the ball uses a giant putter with the Crossed hands make good putts and as I watched Phil I realized he had an open mind and that's the kind of people I like to work with. and um we hit the ground running there in the fall and you know I can't, I can't speak enough about the decision that Randy also made to be open minded, not take on an ego, just sit there and watch.
We work and watch Phil do his thing. Phil is also a guy who doesn't have a big ego, he just wants the best for his players, players and, you know, I'm very lucky to have those two guys as part of my team. I can't, it's hard, it's hard to describe what it's like to have someone.I mean, Randy had taught me for almost 20 years every aspect of the game, so having to bring in someone else might have been a shot to his ego and he might not have wanted me to do it, but Randy sat there. and he said, you know what I think it is, I think it's the right time, so we called Phil and about a week later he came and visited us, we worked for a couple of days and, yeah, now we're here, Mike Keegan. back hello Scotty um.
I was wondering when you talk about yourself, your own parents and your upbringing, if there is something that you will definitely use when you become a parent and also how long you think you will leave it. Until you put a plastic stick in the baby's hand. I guess from my upbringing you know that my parents always wanted the best for me. I swear my dad I think he would stay in front of traffic if it meant I wouldn't. to have a scratch on my arm, I mean, he would die for any of his children, I mean, my parents would, there are such special people, um, and first of all, I think how much love they had for us growing up, I mean, that That's what I'm most looking forward to.
I think that being a father is being able to love, loving my child like my parents love me. How long will it take me to put a plastic tooth in my children's hands? You know, it's funny. I watch my nephew a lot, my older sister had her first child and he will be two in June and some people want to be like their parents and some people don't want to be like their parents and Hayes is a kid who just wants to be like his dad and his dad loves the lawn and the other day I got a video from my sister where Hayes followed his dad around the backyard while his dad was mowing the grass and Hayes followed him with his plastic lawnmower and Andrew loves it play. golf Hayes loves to play golf, what will my son like?
Who the hell knows? Who knows what they will learn? But whatever it is, you know, I just want to be there to support them. No matter what Jeffrey Body is doing, when you look at your game and the week in general, what do you think he did best? I would say the two aspects of my game that were probably the best were the short game and driving. I think the short game is probably the best, I mean just looking at a day like today, the first two holes or the first three holes, actually the first hole.
Teddy and I had the wind completely wrong. I made a good shot and we missed our I aimed at about 25 yards and that's the kind of thing that happens around here, but I got a good hit there, about four or five feet, I knocked it down on number two, we messed up again , I didn't make a great shot. I didn't hit that bad of a shot, I should have still been on the green um and instead I aired M now that I'm in a really tough situation and I hit another really good shot to about four or five feet and then on number three um making a good drive ends up there in the bunker and it's not an easy bunker shot, you go in the slow direction, but the bunker is extremely deep and you make a great bunker shot there about three feet away from hitting it, so I would do it.
I mean, I think the short game was probably the most important, Steve, I congratulate you, you're doing some remarkable things right now. I know it's a humiliating game, but you haven't had a dominant round all year, you win your

second

major here, can you? You talk about what allows you to play so well You talk to other golfers They say you are here and the rest starts there Do you feel like you are doing something different and special right now? I try not to think. about the past or the future too much. I love trying to live in the present.
I have had a very good start to the year and I hope to continue on this path I am on. I'm going to continue working that's what has me here, uh, I mean, yeah, that's it. I'm going to continue working, keep my head down, um, I like it when I raise the tea at a tournament. Able to tell myself that I did everything I could to play well and the rest is not up to me, so when I come up to the team next week, you know, I'm going to be thinking about the preparation it took to achieve that. there and I'm going to go out and try to play as freely as possible.
Do any of these things impress you, for example, that there are no over-par rounds this year? I mean, no over par rounds is great, I mean, I hate shooting over par. I can't tell you how much I hate shooting over par, so it's nice to not have to experience that yet this year. clar Hi Scotty, have you talked to Meredith yet and what was her setup for watching today? I FaceTimed Al, although it was very brief um she was at her aunt's house, they had just built a new house in Dallas where she actually stayed most of this weekend um and they had a nice little group there watching I saw maybe seven or eight people um in the background, but honestly my head has been spinning since I stopped drinking tea.
I can't even tell you who was in that in the movie or in the video other than Meredith, just a couple more questions, uh, let's go to Reeves first of all, Scotty. here on your left, congratulations

second

ly when you take a look at your win here in 2022 and your win here today, what stands out the most for you between getting your first green jacket and your second, as well as just adding a green jacket to the collection. yeah, I think I think when I look at the tournament from two years ago, I got a lead on Friday afternoon and I was able to do it.
I mean, cruise isn't really the right word to describe how the weekend went, but I managed. just playing with the lead and playing comfortably, whereas this week I felt like I was struggling all week, you know, you go out on Thursday and it's really windy and I was able to get a big score, and then the next two. The days were really just a fight. I mean, I've been fighting on this golf course the last few days. I mean, I think it was Friday afternoon when we went out. I can't even describe to you how difficult the conditions were.
I mean, I hit the driver three irons. 15 was into the wind on Thursday and had the number three iron on the green. 15 was in the wind again today and I had the four iron on the green and I took some of the four iron out on Friday afternoon. I hit the three iron and I had 70 yards left to the flag, I mean, it was crazy how windy it was and it was just a battle, it was a long week, you know, I had to fight through some ups and downs and, you know, it's just me. . I'm very fortunate to be sitting here, but yeah, it was definitely a different kind of week and last question, Andy Scotty, when you got to the back nine, was there any point where you decided, no matter what?
I won't leave, even if I got a call, oh oh, I thought: what are you talking about? Of course, I'm not leaving, no, no, you know, I guess that's a testament to how good and how good of a headspace I was in. I wasn't thinking about Until that point I was doing everything I could to stay in the moment, stay calm, execute shots. I was very focused today. I feel like I did a very good job. You know, Teddy did a great job making sure we kept golf going. field in front of us, you know I didn't have the best start, but I had some key ups and downs and you know Teddy once again did a great job of keeping me in it and, yeah, we had a great week, well, Scotty, before we go, Could you explain to us what clubs you used when you made your birdies and bogies today?
So we have that for the all-time record, okay, birdies and bogies, so number three, I use a driver, a lob wedge and a putter, um. No, I, uh, and then I bogeyed four, hit a three iron over the green, parred five, par six, seven was unusual because I hit the driver four iron lob wedge and then missed the putt for power. Number eight was the three iron lob wedge driver. nine was driver pitching wedge 10 was driver pitching wedge um 11 was a bogey which was driver iron balloon wedge um 13 was driver iron four 14 was three wood wedge um 16 was an eight iron and then yeah, those bars are great okay well Scotty thank you and congratulations on your amazing second Masters thanks to all of you appreciate it thanks guys see you
