world

problem when you can't remember if your car is left- or right-hand drive. Hello 101, welcome to the scene through the glass and welcome back to project eight of the Jaguar XE. I'll clear up my confusion. a little tired, it's a relatively early start this morning because I'm here to do something called DK engineering. They've appeared in my videos over the years, but I've never had the opportunity to visit their headquarters, their headquarters, which is exactly what I'm going to do today and I'm very excited to go there, but I'm also excited to spend more time in this car.

I know it doesn't make sense. I know it's a little absurd, but I really love this. any excuse to drive it, no matter how hard the ride is, I never want to get out of it, honestly I'm falling in love with one of the strangest cars ever made, but Bravo Jaguar, for me, welcome to show

room

number one here in deke engineering and I say show number one because you are not prepared for how huge and endless this place is. I wasn't prepared for it. I had no idea the scale of the operation down here. It's amazing, but more than that. to come right now, as you can see in this kind of first show, maybe primary, that we have a Ferrari 504, a beautiful 911 Carrera 2.7 RS, a lightweight with a beautiful Daytona f12 TDF, all original AC Cobra behind me, Right here, a short wheelbase of 250, this is my Euromillions car, if I won the lottery, this is the car that passes by excitedly.

the 100million room the world s greatest ferrari specialist...

I doubt I'll ever get to a point where I can afford this car, so I need to win the lottery to get it. Then we got a 275 GTS and of course. an f40 there's kind of a theme like f40 theme on this board, but right now before we get an additional tool, I really want to go find James from DK Engineering, he's been featured in a few of my videos over the years. years to talk and understand what. these guys do it and then yeah, we'll do a little tour around and just look at the crazy cars looking around DK Engineering.

I'm so glad I finally found time to countdown because I'm not sure how. We've been trying to plan this for a long time, only it's about you, that's how it feels. Thank you very much for inviting me to walk through this place. I think I'm left speechless around every corner I turn, but how do you sum up exactly what you do? as a business because it seems like you do a lot of different things yeah so I mean from the beginning originally you know my parents had cars in the '60s and '70s and there came a point where they enjoyed their hobby more than of course , their day jobs and are actually making more money with their cars than when they were buying, restoring and selling, and putting together original engines with competition cars of the time, so they established the business and so The basis of the business is the Ferraris of the years 50's and 60's.

If you search online at the various Ferrari websites you will know that you will go through the stories of the famous Ferraris of the 50's and the famous racing chips of the 60's and invariably we will have owned them or restored them. at some point, just so you know, the foundation of business is its heritage, its restoration, it's knowledge and experience, and my brother and I certainly paid attention in the '90s and then when I joined in the early '90s, we built the sales side of the business and yes, these days they are kind of a USP.
I think we are the only people in the bar who can help you with all aspects of Ferrari and that's not so much an age thing because obviously anyone under 7 is free. giving service these days, which is a blessing in disguise for us because you know we just left it to make sure you don't get surprised, that's their territory and they get on with it in a fabulous job and there's just nothing crossed. over 7 years old, if people want to take it for a service then we will, you know, we will gladly do it, but it's also when it comes to you guys, our own cars like this, you want a one stop shop, you don't want . teach, talk to a guy about transportation, to a guy about storage, to a guy about service, and to a guy about selling and buying cars, so you know that we build relationships with customers through which it is a one-stop shop unique, so we may not necessarily do everything in the house. but we can manage it and that's really what we've been heading towards, especially in the last five years, as yes, the cars are becoming a lot more valuable and therefore the clientele has become a little bit more prominent.
It's really important that we can. just provide that service there, any that really stand out in your memory, those that you should have wished you hadn't sold or those that when you walked in you spent two days looking at before touching. I'm dancing there some I wish we had kept, I think, the one that stands out and it's very easy for me to say this now because at the time it was very difficult to sell, but you know, in 2009 we could have had a McLaren f1 GTR for less than one and Half a million pounds and you know, we just moved into these show

room

s and we couldn't get in, so it's amazing how you couldn't, you couldn't sell it for the life of you, you know we couldn't, we couldn't. t and eventually the car was sold to someone we had introduced it to, but it was after our option was up and you know again it was a bit disappointing, but now it's because that's what it's now £15 or £20 million, maybe time.
It's hard to say, but you know it's definitely more than a million in the middle, it's definitely more than double, yeah, it wasn't exactly a conversation, why should I stay like I hinted at the beginning and what James just described? There are so many things happening. here at DK it's not just the guy selling and restoring some old Fry's which is a big part of the business, it's tons of other things they're doing and tons of other cars that I keep looking at. doors and windows and seeing the most incredible machinery right now I have sneaked into the Service and Restoration Center so I can't doubt some of their incredible Ferraris but in the second we are going to go in class some of the other shows. rooms and storage facilities that apparently hold over a hundred cars and then James says that he has a very special room that he wants to show me.
I think I'm ready for it, so maybe I need to drink some Tifa to calm down. we need to drink tea but he says it's amazing I don't understand how it's going to be more amazing than this oh wow I like it I almost don't want to breathe here it's very nice I don't I don't I know very well where to start, but I think I think we have Let's start here when you were talking about the F1 GTR earlier and you didn't mention, oh, but we actually have an F1 running around, okay, that's beautiful and white, however, that's amazing and it's quite nice, so a lot of F's to it.
Over the years they have come back to NSO and had a color change upon being returned and this was done if it stars one of the few that is absolutely as it was when it left the factory, I'm sure which one it will be, yes, knowing what I know about Ferraris and all the cars in the future I think it would be a real selling point for this but if it was ever that narrative it won't sell anytime soon I'm sure but you really know that when we were going through the buying process of this car for the customer, it was for me, it was a really important reason why we should go with this particular car because you don't find many that haven't been touched. short and still be super regional, yes, it seems absolutely unrealistic and then yes, I sell it.
I'm almost afraid to go up to this level where I will do it, so that's the alternative configuration with a short wheelbase and the head covered as if from memory. I think we're 22 cars in that. Specification: This is one of two cars we have restored in the last three or four years again. It's an example of the car that lives here with us for us to look after between events and then we take two short 250 GT competition events. wheelbase look it's a later car game for the seat back hot rod which is extremely special if you like short wheelbase it's as good as it looks and that's Kart we've had a ride with long story, I think it was originally the first.
The time we took care of it, my father bought it in Sweden from owners who have had it for 30 years. This was in the early '90s for his client at a time when he was a really cool 24 year old guy who was very highly connected. in the Middle East and he had very good taste, I mean, he had some great cars, so we thought of that for him and then we restored them for him. He lived with us for about 10 years after that and then we sold them to someone else and they went to America. for a period of 10 years and then in the last few years it has come back and we have been looking after it ever since so we will know again what this type of noise experience is but this is a typical example of the car we have had in our cared for on and off for 30 years Disney Tour de France has a great history and has sort of a personal connection to our family in terms of when Walt Disney owned it after they finished filming the lovebug at some point it was sold to one of his producers at some point what that produces took it out on Saturday night and blew it up on Mulholland Avenue when it was in Hollywood and left it on the side of the road, the car was there for like two weeks and because it was just an old car race car at the time, I think it's probably several years old and yeah, it was an old race car that no one really wanted and someone who knew what it was contacted him and said, look, 'I've left the car there. for a couple of weeks.
I can buy it? Then, in 1993, I remember one holiday and Dad said, "I have good news." I managed to buy the Walt Disney in France, it arrived and we completely restored it. then he said it was one of the most original classes ever restored to the point where even the exhaust was just cleaned and painted instead of being replaced and then the grand finale so that's the bunch of stories that the car had to disappear because all the school fees were sold to pay my school fees and then several years later that same guy we sold it to was sold at auction for a monumental sum and now I will probably buy the school that you owned and that's why I always do it.
I can value my education, it's that price difference, yes, you know a lot why, but it worked well, we made the right decision, that there was built as a tribute to this car, oh no, this is an f12 that matches there is a novelty, that's the combination you want, it has a plate that says oh Maggio Oh 5 8 5, what's the punishment with this style, said you know you look at a lot of details like the color combination of the interior, the strike reviews the - modernized modernize but hey, you don't see blue seats in four hours the same philosophy you know God takes us you know where we're going these days that's popular and then three for me is actually one of the most underrated sixties Ferrari GTs because they speak so well , great power or quickness, they feel comfortable, it's easy to get out of the convertible, ok this was owned by Beryl Read and she owned it for a long time and then it was owned by another chat for a long time. time and then someone else bought it, he has a factory, he restores it to perfect condition and yes, we have a very good facility, anyone who is interested, great salesman tactics right there, finally, in this room, we have always been along of the years.
I've always had a 275 gtb description for son, so this is a very nice camera that only had 42,000 miles from new that only had two owners before us, it was sympathetically restored, but the interiors are original and you know, This is how the pieces jump. over the years, but it's actually an extremely original car, your mom and dad leave us a lot about this. I'm absolutely obsessed, not only do I think it's absolutely stunning, but it's one of the most important Ferrari racing cars of all time of course. James is still here to explain why because I know you love this car as much as I do, so give us a little tour and yet give us a little bit of the history of one of the first competitions that Ferrari built in 1949, not only won. the Mille Miglia, but it also won the Lomarr 24 Hours, which I'm not sure if there's another car that's ever done it and which I'm pretty sure there really isn't, so not only did it win those two races notable as the enormous. achievement, but you know Ferrari first in each one, which you know, that's why Ferrari became the business it is.
I think people would have realized that, no sir, and also a really cool story about LeMond that Luigi Chinetti Sr. was driving the car being Leshawna. and he did 23 hours and 40 minutes of the 24 hours because, although no one really knows why, but they threw Selsdon, they think he was sick, so he only did 20 minutes in the whole race and Luigi Caneta Sr. did, yes, 23 hours and 40 minutes. I mean, at the age of 50too, so that's exhausting. Know? I joined? I lost touch with how special all of these cars are at one point. You know, obviously, I love them and I appreciate it, but when something like this happens, you know what it is.
It's an incredibly important part of our history, when a car like that turns out to give you goosebumps and for at least a week I kept looking at it in the workshop just because, although there are some amazing cars here in the sort of storage area. from DK Engineering, this caught my attention immediately and yes, it's amazing to be so close to something as important as this. Look, yeah, thank you very much for the history lesson now to finish the day off and really demonstrate. How crazy is the work that DK engineering does. Makes sense? I'm not sure I don't have it.
I know I'm overexcited because you're looking at a Ferrari Mondial, which is probably why I was going to say the most hated or maybe the least loved Ferrari of all time, but this is not a standard Mondeo because let me give it a try. lap, yes, open engine bay because this car has a 430 Challenge engine, that's not the only change on this car, it's also working for a 30 Challenge gearbox, we have different suspensions, different wheels, different brakes, you'll see Since the interior is completely redesigned, it looks more like a racing car than a road car. We have lost the rear seats to a roll cage.
This is a real Ferrari hot rod. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. I don't have everything alike, but I love the whole concept because while everyone else seems to forget about the wonderful Mondial. I don't. I'm so unbelievably excited that I'm going to go for a really quick spin in this car while my son gets the last part here at DK Engineering. Well, on his home button, the same old Flappy. I paddle in first gear and off we go. I'm driving full, I mean, I don't know, if I were a Frankenstein of a car, let's just say I've been saying for a while that no one is hot rodding potato chips and it needs to be done.
If you look at the Porsche community, there are endless modifications. Ferraris are usually left behind. It has been completely original and standard. However, Ferrari fits into the Mondial. He also likes to do a lot of track days so he wanted to improve the Mondale to be track friendly and the engineering over the years was tweaking the suspension, the brakes and the setup and then finally. The guys had let the cars be almost perfect, but I want more power, so can we put an F40 engine in here? DK said no, but they got to work thinking about what they could do to increase the power of an alternate Monday and eventually realized that it was actually a The 4:30 Challenge was a good choice because it's a relatively simple car. , so you can scrap the engine once it has been completely rebuilt, which changed the entire configuration and layout of that actual engine to be able to fit in the car and they also have to swap the car for massively new fuel tanks, lose those back seats, but now they've created this completely awesome Frankenstein car, it shouldn't work but check this out, here we go haha, hey, it's fast people, it's fast, I'm not even speeding it up.
This thing will rev so much and so high, but the engines are still a little cold, so I'm trying to be a little careful, but that was awesome. I'm so glad I got to experience how cool this is. window up Wow I love it I mean it's funny but brilliant honestly this is so easy it's so easy to drive and you know I was being a little careful because I realized we just turned it on but it will rebel if you want it. and it's just yes, finally and it's the best way to surprise someone outside the traffic light.
What a brilliant day. I am so glad I came to DK Engineering. You know, I'm usually pretty fast when I'm filming. I spent a lot of time editing. And you know, I spent a lot of time filming, but I have a good formula for coming here. I've been filming for about five hours. There was a lot to see and do, but I hope you enjoyed it. Hopefully. I had more time that Monday, it's great. Like if you have it and be sure to subscribe for many more videos to come.
